Chelsea speaks!

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV -- Near the end of a more than hour-long town meeting with Bill Clinton at Legacy High School, a member of audience asked Chelsea if she could speak about the importance of young people getting involved. Here is what Chelsea said:

“Hi! I think it’s great that you’re a teacher, I think it’s great that all the students are here, particularly after your exam. I think I might have wanted to run right out the door after my high school exams.

"One of the clear messages in this election so far is that young people are motivated to pay attention and hopefully motivated to participate. And I just hope that we prove what they’re saying about us true. I hope that we get online, and get informed, and show up. I hope we show up on Saturday here, I hope we show up in our primaries, I hope we show up in November. Because that will fundamentally change our future for the better, if we start participating, and we become good citizens, you know, at 17 for the people who can come to caucus, 27 for me, we all benefit. So please caucus, please vote, participate. Be counted. Thank you."

The event also featured Magic Johnson and America Ferrara.

She didn't offer a single word in support of her mother's candidacy. She just wants young people to exercise their right and be counted.

I notice Chelsea does not speak party politics. Have to admire her for that. She simply encourages the young people to be involved. Outstanding! I also suspect she is Independent, does her own thinking and has her own opinion about who would be best to run the country. Who knows, and I don't blame her for being neutral (if she is);-)I seem to think she is very intelligent like her parents, but doesn't mean she agrees with either of them.

Mrs Clinton is obviously the most qualified candidate in both parties.I'm an American I stay up late to watch the debates.So far she is the only candidate that demonstrated the qualites and experience that US needs during these turbulent times.

Obama may be brilliant , could make good C and C for the Future but ceratinly not ready for the 2008 White House.U S politics isn't about looking nice and talking sweet; it's about tough choices and decisions.Americans have to separate enthusiasm founded on wishes and dreams from pedigree, know-how, and a demonstrated capacity to deliver.

i think that the young lady made a very good point.if you notice she never said who you should vote for.chelsea you are very smart you were asking people to use there own mind on who to vote for an i think that is a smart thing to do.i wish your mom very good luck we need someone that dont need traing wheeles looking for someone to tell them what to do next.if your mom makes it all she has to do is start the ball rolling an she dont need anyone to hold her hands an guide her.

She's absolutely right. Even when young people are too young to be able to vote, it's a good thing when they get involved with a campaign of their choosing at the grassroots. The experience will serve them well when they are able to vote.
Also, it teaches them to pay attention during elections, become informed about issues and how candidates formulate their positions on issues.
It's my belief that many people don't vote because they don't feel they know enough to participate intelligently.
Chelsea learned to take an interest and become involved. Even if she never runs for public office, she'll clearly be an intelligent voter.

Chelsea expressed her thoughts about young generation
participation in the caucuses and election in a mature and wise way. She urged young people to be themselves without influencing them to vote for anybody in particular. I salute her.

Interesting she did not say vote for my mom. Since everyone is wanting to read things into everything said during the primary season why not this too. Guess she is not supporting her mom, who is she supporting? Glad she did not mention Regan. I mean just to say his name means you are one of his supporters according to Edwards. Seems to me maybe we should elect Chelsea she has after all 8 yrs experience according to the way things are counted now. Not only that she has the good sense to not open her mouth and put her foot in it.

Chelsea is definitely an asset to Clinton campaign. She has the quality Clinton campaign's missing - Likeability and Modesty. Chelsea comes across as a very warm-hearted girl from next door. I want to see her more in the campaign.

Chelsea speaks, why is this posted here? I only hope she's not the super liars her parents are. I also think, like her dad, the thing she misses most about her phony parents being Co-Presidents is Air Force One. Maybe with all the convicts that paid the Clintons, and Hillary brothers off, for pardons (these cons had the voting rights restored)they will have enough rich felons who can vote for her, she will win. Is everyone ready for 4/8 more years of the Clinton Comedy Tour in the White House? Lord help us all. As for a southern black female democrat, if Hillary is our nominee I will vote republican, hopefully Huckabee, but not matter who the republicans choose, that personn will have my vote, if Hillary is the dems choice, and I know a lot of others, who look like me that feel the same. That is how very tired we are of The Clintons. We will do as most southern whites do, vote against my interest to not have to see the Clintons in our homes, on TV for their second Presidency.

Regardless of if you like the Clintons or not, you have to admit, they did something right - they raised a very smart and composed young lady and I am proud of her and for her accomplishments. Being a parent myself, it is indeed a good day when you can say your child is a good human being and I think Chelsea is. Encouraging young people to get involved, get educated, and vote is always a good thing - after all they will be the ones left with this mess after all the older folks are no longer here. Be good to your children, they have long memories and they may get to choose your nursing home!

To all those who believe the clintons were a joke. May I remind you that when mr. clinton left after 8 years as president the country was first not at war nor were we fighting a low economy not facing recession we had lower gas prices and a balanced budget with a surplus. Small business was better and now you want to say he was a joke? Please reread your facts before you speak. Also for those in support of obama I like the man to for his pretty speeches but thats all they are. You can stand and shout for change all you want convince people its time for change but unless you can show how you can change things then that all you are doing is shouting empty promises.I would vote for the person who can shw me an idea not just the thought of an idea. As for chelsa speaking I am glad she is not being a voice for her mom she des not need to be.
