McCain: 'Take a Chance on Me'

As McCain finished his victory speech and greeted supporters, ABBA's "Take a Chance on Me" played from the speakers. Yesterday, McCain told NBC's Kelly O'Donnell that he was tiring of "Johnny B. Goode" and asked for this song. It was debuted during last night's rally while McCain worked the rope line.

However, as McCain continued greeting voters after tonight's speech, "Johnny B. Goode" followed. As McCain showed in South Carolina, not only do classics come back, they can also become beloved.

I am glad that Mc Cain won the South Carolina Primary.  I am glad that Mike Huckabee lost.  Mike Huckabee is the most divisvive Republican Candidate.  Mike Huckabee is a Bush clone.  I would rather see Mc Cain get the Republican Nomination better then Huckabee.  John Mc Cain would make a better President then Bush was or Mike Huckabee.  I am a Democrat and I am voting for a Democrat but on the Republican side I would rather see any other Republican get the nomination except for Huckabee.  In the Republican side John Mc Cain, Pretty Boy Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, or Ruduoplh Gilluni are the lesser of evils then Mike Huckabee is.  I think Mike Huckabee used some Bush and Karl Rove tricks to surge in the polls and win in the Iowa Cacucus especailly if he was a second rate candidate at single digits.  Mike Huckabee would use the divisive hot button issues like abortion, and gay marriage on his campaign platform.  Mc Cain will probalby use the Milatary, War in Iraq, and Ecomeny on his campaign platform more then the hot button issues. Mike Huckabee is the value voters and far rights dream Presidental Candidate.  The Vaule Voters and the far right are not too energized to vote in this election.  Mike Huckabee was the Value voters and far rights savior to mobilize them to vote.  Now that Huckabee lost South Carolina it is going to be harder for him to win other states.  Now that Mc Cain won the South Carolina Primary it is going to energize the Mc Cain campaign.  The Value voters and far right don't like Mc Cain.  Now the vulue voters and the far right might end up staying home on election day if Mc Cain gets the Republican Nomination.  Mike Huckabee losing the South Carolina Primary is a day in the dumps for the vaule voters and the far right.  I think in Arkansas they don't like Mike Huckabee anymore because a Democrat got elected governor of that state in their last Governor's Election.  If the people in Arkansas still liked Huckabee in A Republican would have gotten elected Governor in their last Governors election. John Mc Cain winning the South Carolina Primary is a blow to the divisive values voters and far right who want to divide this country after 9-11.  People said that this country was bitterly divided before 911 but it is more bitterly divided after 911 hot button issues like Gay Marriage, the Morning After Pill, and Stem Cell Research were hardly brought up before 911.  John Mc Cain just cleared a very big hurdle tonight South Carolina is one of the biggest hurdles before the nomination.  John Mc Cain just beat a Golitha.  Mike Huckabee was the Golitha in this race in South Carolina.
I assume you mean "Johnny B. Goode" and not "Johnny Be Good."
"Take a Chance on Me" - ummmm..... NO!

Illegal immigration is too important, our economic future as a nation is too important. Sure, get the vote for being tough on terrorism, but what happens when the money dries up to fund this little party? John, if you were going to change Washington, 25 years should have been sufficient. Unfortunately, it's changed you too and nothing can erase your liberal record.
The biggest hurdle to a McCain presidency is over. I know it is too early for general election talk. If the republicans nominate McCain and the democrats Hilary, it will be no contest. McCain will win. What's Hilary gonna run on? Experience? vs McCain's longer experience in the senate. Anti-Bush? He will quickly point out his fallout with the administration as early as 2003 and his dissatisfaction with Rumsfeld. Anti-torture? He was against torture even going against his party. Ethics? McCain Feingold is the answer.
If the republicans want to retain the white house, I think they should nominate McCain. Hilary appeals to Dems only, has very low support among independents.
I have a question:
Now that Mr. Hunter has dropped out of the race, what happens to the two delegates that he had won?
Do they become free delegates?  Or are they still committed to vote for him in the first round?
I am glad to see that McCain did well.  I think an HRC presidency would be much worse than WJC's, and now is not the time to have another divisive person in the White House after the partisanship of WJC's and GWB's administrations.  On the dem side, I want Obama to win, but the Clinton's have managed to make this a race election, so I may have to wait 4-8 years for him to run again.  I am tired of the Clinton dirty tricks, 'we're the victims' mentality, and divisiveness.  In fact, after 28 years of a Bush/Clinton in the White House, it is time to put an end to the US neo-monarchical system.  It is time to turn the page.
McCAIN SAID HE STICKS BY THE KENNEDY McCAIN BILL BUT WILL THROW SOME FENCE UP.AMERICA VOICED THERE OPINION BY 80% THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT THE McCAIN KENNEDY BILL !
SINCE 9-11 McCAIN DID NOTHING TO SECURE OUR BORDER WHILE ILLEGALS AND TERROR GROUPS WALKED IN. OUR BORDER AGENTS GET SHOT AT BY THE MEXICAN ARMY PROTECTING DRUG SMUGLERS AND McCAIN BURRIES HIS HEAD IN THE SAND WHILE WE ARE AT WAR WITH TERRORISM.
AMERICA NEEDS A PRESIDENT THAT IS GOOD WITH HOMELAND SECURITY AND McCAIN ISN'T IT.
John McCain is war hero and a brave American and I truly respect him, however its obvious his time has past, he is older Methuselah, and I for one do not want another senile old man with their hands on the nuclear weapon of this nation. By the end of his first term he would be almost eighty years old. This country cannot afford to have a President who is still reliving the Vietnam War as it seems John McCain is presently doing through the Iraq war and I believe it is as a direct result of his age.

well as an independent and comes down to McCain and Clinton i would support McCain and would hope The rest of the indep and undecided will do the same..Long time till election maybe some one else will come along that is not the same old regime..Havent counted out Obama yet if he would  stand up to Hillory i think hes got a good chance...Bill is to obsed with gettin his oval office back...Never for Clinton......Till waiting to hear what she did with her 35 yrs in office..I need help there...Seems to be working i hope Obama asks her so we will all know maybe i will change my mind..Lost
How about 'BIG JOHN, BIG BAD JOHN'. If I was voting for a republican this year John would be it, grumpy or not.
Americans are tired of the overly simplistic world view of the holy rollers and haters masking as Christians.
GET READY FOR THE DAGGER FROM FOX JOHN   THEY KILLED HUCK FOR YOU USING THOMPSON    CAUSE   THEY WANT RUDY NOW YOU RE IN THEIR SIGHTS
McCain's your man if you want war and more war. The draft will be back and it won't be the illegals he allows in that will be drafted. McCain's a nasty old warmonger.
Thompson is helping his pal McCain by staying in this race. He's running interference for McCain wherever he can.
I would take a chance if i new be sides securing the borders whant are you going to do with the ones who are here illegaly and they come every day....I want assurance that American come first and that we will do what ever humanatairian country needs it but not sell weapons or all our tecnology relating to weapons or wmd......I want to see our money meeting the needs of our own people....Prove to ous that you are worthy havent a long stay in office will be hard to convince me because wahington got ous in this mess and you are part of the regime.....again independents unite let be a strong factor and be one..... change
I agree---Fred staying in for Mccains sake. What has John promised Fred?I am sure a cushy well paying job will be desired by his young wife.I have nothing against his Mrs.---I cannot blame her for wanting a life of comfort. and prestige. All the spouses are speaking up in this campaign---just not Bill Clinton--what is the difference.Unlike Ophra Hillary is not being described as "she is the one".As a democrat I hope Mccain or Romney is the nominee----or even Huckabee. One of them will be forced to campaign with George W Bush at their side----A far worse sight than Bill Clinton.
I really hope McCain gets the GOP nomination.

A Mormon (Romney) president would mark the end of the separation of church & state (methinks Mormon's are loyal to church before nation).

A baptist pastor (Huckabee) at the helm, would mark the end of many of our hard-fought freedoms (e.g., dancing).
Yes, Obama is young and still full of vigor and fresh ideas, and he still has this thought in his head that the country doesn't have to be given away to the guys with the biggest checkbook. The color of your skin, or your religion, (or gender) shouldn't be the basis for exclusion and that is what our country's founders intended. Conversely, it shouldn't be the reasons for which to vote for someone. The average American Voter should support the person who will be loyal to the Most of [U.S.]. It is time, 70 years later, to send 'Mr.Smith' back to Washington.

The Ends NEVER justify the Means,,Fred.
Take a chance on me is another way of saying "Roll the Dice - Vote McCain", which is exactly what we'd be doing.  Well put McCain, Thanks.  I don't think I'm going to take a chance on you.
If it came down to McCain and Clinton, I would definately vote for McCain. But if McCain really wants a secure America and an economic rise, he has to come out for secure borders and send the illegal immigrants home, especially in FLORIDA AND ALL SOUTHWESTERN STATES. California and Florida will drop him like a hot potato if he doesn't. The independent voters in these states will make sure of this happening if he doesn't change his stand on secure borders, illegal aliens, and raise economic standards.
These points are main topics in these states and are being strongl discussed, along with fixing Social Security, not getting rid of it.
They did take a chance port-a-John.  They got GW Bush as a result. Now they'll take another chance on a senile and angry warmonger again?
The reason McCain is no longer an underdog candidate is because the media, the fifth arm of government, has given him attention. Ron Paul is the only true conservative in this race and there has been a virtual media blackout of him and his ideas.

The modern day "Democracy" depends not on convincing the people about your platform but on convincing the media that your ideas are in line with theirs.

I think that the most refreshing news about ideas and positions comes from overseas. The news we get in the US is filtered just like this blog message.
"I believe my party has gone astray. I think the Democratic Party is a fine party, and I have no problems with it, in their views and their philosophy." -- John McCain
