Obama on economy, goes after Hillary

Posted: Tuesday, January 22, 2008 2:14 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC/NJ’s Aswini Anburajan
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- If anyone thought Obama needed a breather after last night’s contentious and heated Democratic debate, the candidate’s opening speech at Furman University in Greenville proved them wrong.

Obama went after Clinton on issue after issue from last night’s debate, using the podium to give full grievance to his charges against her in a way that the time-limited format at the debate and Clinton’s noisy interruptions did not permit.

“Of course, it's easy to propose plans and policies when you're on the campaign trail. You can make all sorts of promises and tell people what they want to hear when they want to hear it. But in this time of economic anxiety and uncertainty, what this country needs most is a President who says what he means and means what he says,” Obama said before launching into an attack on Clinton’s economic stimulus plan.

“When Senator Clinton first released her economic stimulus plan, she didn't think that workers or seniors needed immediate tax relief. She thought it could wait until things got worse. Five days later, the economy didn't really change, but the politics apparently did, because she changed her plan to look just like mine,” Obama said while the audience roared with laugher.

He moved on to reprise his critique of Clinton’s answer on the bankruptcy bill, which she had voted for in 2001. “Believe it or not, Senator Clinton said again last night that even though she voted for the bill, she was glad it didn't pass,” Obama said, at which point he was interrupted by a man who loudly shouted “She did!”

“I know!” Obama yelled out before continuing, “I know you can get away with this in Washington, but most of us know that if you don't want to see a bill pass, there's a pretty easy option available -- you can vote against it.”

On trade he also criticized her for saying one thing and taking another position when she decided to run for the presidency. “Because only in Washington could Senator Clinton say that NAFTA led to economic improvement up until she started running for President,” he said. “Now she says we need a time-out on trade. No one knows when this time-out will end. Maybe after the election.”

Hitting back at Clinton on lobbyists, Obama accused Clinton of  “defending” them and saying that they represented the interests of “real Americans. “Well let me tell you,” Obama said, “if you really believe that lobbyists represent real Americans, then you don't.”

The rebuts served to underscore an argument Obama has been making about Clinton essentially since the beginning, that she doesn’t have the judgment to make the right decisions the first time around and that she will say whatever it takes to win.

“We can't afford a President whose positions change with the politics of the moment, we need a President who knows that being ready on day one means getting it right from day one,” Obama said.

He continued, “In my 25 years of public service, my positions haven't changed when the politics got hard, and neither will the policies I pursue as President.”

That's a lie, Barack.  You voted for war funding after saying you were against the war, and you did it for political reasons.  You said one thing, you did another.  To me, that's hypocrisy.  You also voted over 100 times "present" in the IL legislature... that's a FACT, not fiction, and your efforts to explain it by saying, "that's the way things are done in the IL legislature" is no less a political response than the ones you criticize others for making.  Stop lying to the American people, stop trying to pretend your record isn't what it is, and stop pandering to black voters.
*Stands and applauds!*

Bravo Senator Obama, BRAVO!
stop crying obama...this is politics.  you started the drama last night, and now you cry foul when hillary fights back.  grow up.  you don't have a shot in hell against the GOP if you think this is too tough.  you better "hope" that people don't through your rhetoric into your lack of specific policies and plans that will actually help the country.
PLEASE, Hillary Clinton has so little respect for the voters of South Carolina that she can’t even trouble herself to campaign there.   How pathetic is that?  Barack Obama is right by stating the obvious of who is he running against.   It’s certainly not her since she can’t bother to spend time to campaign for any votes.
Finally, Obama is taking Billary heads on. I am happy to see this fight continue. Enough is enough, i have hard enough of the Clintonite lies. How long can they play the press? The press have been irresponsible in calling them out when they lie.

Boy, he's one to talk missing over ,"125 + votes"...give me a break ! You have no substance here Obama. None !
I ask all Obama supporters to withhold their support of Senator Clinton in the general election if she is the nominee.  I'm tired of her lies, double-talking, flip-flopping (read her multiple versions of her statements on the 2001 bankruptcy bill, NAFTA, driver's license for immigrants, Iraq war authorization vote, Kyle-Liberman amendment, etc.,)it's all about me attitude.  And I for one will not vote for such a phony (oh, and by the way, she has consistently polled poorly against McCain, just go to realclearpolitics.com and see for yourself).
Considering they don't call it the Clinton News Network for nothing, I can see where anybody going after the Clinton's would be at an disadvantage....

The rebuts served to underscore an argument Obama has been making about Clinton essentially since the beginning, that she doesn’t have the judgment to make the right decisions the first time around and that she will say whatever it takes to win.

Hillary has to have her husband holding her hand and let him tell her how to do the job....Just like a man needs to....

Aswini Anburajan is an Obama shill and a sham of a reporter. How can MSNBC allow such obvious bias in their reporters. She should have to state that she supports Obama.

Clinton didn't have any trouble smacking-down Barry in the time limited format, and she didn't let anyone's interruptions (NOISY or otherwise) prevent her from countering Obama's first stone with a fusillade of his contradictions and flat-out lies that shattered his glass house once and for all.

Why isn't this little cheerleader/reporter commenting on the duplicity of the Obama camp accusing the Clinton campaign of, "planning", to violate the agreement not to campaign in FL, while making a national ad buy that INCLUDED Fl.? What about his flat-out lie about his statements about a single-payer health plan?
If it was Clinton, she'd be all over it. You're a shill lady, and you should be working for the Obama campaign in and OFFICIAL capacity instead of pretending to be a journalist.

Here, I'll throw you a bone...

BRAVO!!!  Very glad Senator Obama is telling the truth about the "REAL CLINTONS".  'Hitting back at Clinton on lobbyists, Obama accused Clinton of  “defending” them and saying that they represented the interests of “real Americans." And just which Americans are the "real Americans" Hillary is talking about, would it be people like her who take so much money from these lobbyists?  She couldn't be talking about us, the nonwealthy.  Voting for a bill and then saying she was glad it didn't pass is ludicrous.  Talk about doubletalk!!  Hillary (and Bill) are the biggest liars and manipulators around!  They are in this race to satisfy their insatiable need for power and nothing more!!  The Clintons do NOT represent us, the citizens of the United States.  ITS TIME TO TURN THE PAGE..NEW CENTURY, NEW DIRECTION, A BRIGHTER AMERICA, NEW LEADER AND NEW COMMAND IN CHIEF--PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!
Consider my vote for HRC in the general withheld!  I wouldn't vote for Hillary if she was running against Dick Cheney.  If the Dem party nominates HRC, they will get what they deserve: another loss in November, and 8 more years of tyranny.  I'll be tending my garden on Vancouver Island, lamenting the death of a great country.
I started off thinking I would be pleased to support whomever is the Democratic candidate.  Later, I decided amongst the three to support Obama.  I figured then that I would continue wholeheartedly to support Hillary or John Edwards if they became the eventual nominee.  Now, I've decided that Hillary's old school political machine twisting of truths has so upset me that if Hillary is the nominee and Bloomberg runs, I will support him.  I've had enough of Hillary and Bill
OH yea, well maybe all us Hillary supporters will never support Obama if HE gets the nomination. Thats REAL smart..and just what the repubs want. DUMB Obama folks. Don't get it yet do ya?
After Obama said he did $500 worth of work for the Reizko slumlord someone farther down on this site posted an e-mail adress to the Chicago Times and I thank them.My God Obama is so deep into this federal investigation it is unbelievable. So much for honesty and hope.I am surprised the taxpayers money who paid for this rip of are not screaming for somebodys scalp.Obama is just another greedy politican looking for power.
Obama's opponents were saying the opposite of what they're saying now on issue after issue for years, right up until they started running for office, at which time those positions changed to perfectly sync with the Democratic base.  It boggles the mind that this does not bother any of their supporters.

Honestly people, if we voters fall for the same stupid trap that every electorate falls for every election, nothing will ever change.  What's more, every contradiction by such a nominee would be visited and revisited by the GOP opponent in a general election, day after day, hour after hour; remember how much fun it was for John Kerry to try to justify his Iraq War vote for a whole year?  Get ready for another LONG miserable year like that if Clinton is the nominee, no matter what happens in the end.  Or - we can nominate the most honest and intelligent person with a consistent record that doesn't have to pander or apologize about anything, and enjoy every day of the race no matter what happens, because we made a choice we can be proud of; I don't have the patience to watch another election like 2000 or 2004 where an experienced candidate struggles with likeability and charisma at the same time as trying to explain inconsistencies in their record, giving a neoconservative the opportunity to sneak into the Presidency.  Those Democrats who would want to repeat that experience are masochists and should seek help.
boynLA:

I agree...Obama needs to grow up!

We need to get a petition to Hillary to NOT select Obama as her running mate! He's not qualified to even be the VP nominee!
PLEASE, Hillary Clinton has so little respect for the voters of South Carolina that she can’t even trouble herself to campaign there.   How pathetic is that?

How stupid is that statement would be a better question.
Get someone to read this to you;

" January 22, 2008

HILLARY Clinton's camp insisted today she was not writing off South Carolina, despite a planned two day absence from the state, where polls show her trailing Democratic rival Barack Obama ahead of Saturday's presidential primary clash.

The former first lady is expected to make a campaign blitz of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and New Jersey, after debating the Illinois senator overnight, and not expected back in South Carolina until Thursday.

But aides denied that her absence during two precious campaign days was an attempt to lower expectations for the New York senator in the state, where she is waging a battle with Obama for the key African-American vote.

"We are not conceding any votes, we are going to fight for every vote here, white, black, young, old, man, woman, we are taking it to the streets," said Zac Wright, Clinton's South Carolina communications director.

In the former first lady's absence, former president Bill Clinton, her daughter Chelsea and prominent members of the state's African American community were due to campaign for her, aides said, adding they had a "robust" operation."

She won't be there for TWO whole days. More, "truth", from an ObamaCultist.
"Obama went after Clinton on issue after issue from last night’s debate, using the podium to give full grievance to his charges against her in a way that the time-limited format at the debate and Clinton’s noisy interruptions did not permit."

Let's see if you COVER this.
He didn't miss the votes in the Illinois Senate. As he explains, by voting "present" at certain stages in
the development of a successful bill he could express
his support for the bill but with reservations to be
worked out before it came up again. Those who don't
see in that a keen ability to form a working majority
are the same ones who don't yet realize this is a
candidate who will not slice and dice the electorate
but will win in a landslide that brings a majority
of Americans together, again, finally, and just in
time. He's doing great, and he made the Clintons back
down because he's honest and they (or at least Bill)
are not. Glad he stood up to power. Obama for President! Now!
Woohoo! Right on. I'm getting sick of watching the Clintons muscle their way back into the White House, which is sadly what they'll probably achieve. Why is she running for President again? Obama wants change and unity, Edwards wants to take down big corporations, and Clinton wants... what exactly?
I ask all Obama supporters to withhold their support of Senator Clinton in the general election if she is the nominee.

More from the whinny little sore-losers who make up most of Obama's remaining supporters.

Don't let Bill campaign. WAAAAAAAAA!
Don't support the dem nominee if it isn't Obama. WAAAA!

Don't worry as the MAJORUTY of Obama supporters AREN'T democrats anyway...
Obama is a muslim
Alot of Democrats wondered if Senator Obama had it in him to take on the Clintons.  I guess they have their answer.

Alot of Democrats are just tried of the Clintons.

Also, on CNN they said that Black women would be the ones who decided the election. I wonder what they are thinking about after last night.

Now we're on the right track.  Senator Obama, please continue to fight for the presidency: we need your vision, leadership and candor, as well as your ability to work with a number of interests in addressing the needs of the citizens of this nation.

I also encourage you to continue to call out the truth: you are running for the nomination against Bill and Hillary Clinton who will have a co-presidency if elected and give us just what we need: four more years of uninspired leadership marked by political division and acute paranoia.

Enough is Enough. Never again Clinton.  and to KMM:  I am with you all the way, in fact I started the club months ago.
If president, Obama will repeal the 13th amendment, so that it can be pay back time, if you know what I mean.
OMG!!

It's the economy stupid...

Does Obama have to follow the Clinton's on evey single issue.  Yes!

Hillary says, Obama is slippery and won't take a stand... Edwards says the same.

"Obama looked like every Republican critic of Bill Clinton over his eight years, flummoxed that he was losing to this guy." Said, MSNBC.

If Obama is to stand a "snow balls" chance... he has to leave Bill Clinton alone, and focus on Hillary... Hillary's staying on message is killing him... Meanwhile, he is crying about Bill.

It's more of the "feel good" stuff, yes, Obama is getting things off his chest, but it's politically stupid...  Nobody beats Bill in the political area...  He needs to focus on Hillary, there maybe he stands a chance.. But last night she made it clear, she also is quite adept at playing to win.

She won the debate again...

I know, Obama stood his ground and answered/fired back, but there in was the problem, he was answering back... Obama was caught up in the skirmish of the moment.. Hillary seemed capable of putting him on the defense, defusing him, taking him off message, as she continued to speak her message of how to win the war... Obama did draw first blood, with his Walmart shot, but Hillary parleyed with his work for a slum lord, and... the slum lord shot, has been swirling in the minds of the politically informed, we've all be wondering?..  And again he stopped and tried to explain... In short his attacks did little to help.. other than showing that he can sling mud too, they probably hurt him in the long run.

She really made Obama, look a bit amateurish, she was just better at manipulating the time and the questions to her advantage.

I think Hillary's greatest success last night was her pointing out what many of us want to know about Obama... That is who is he... That is she pointed out successfully, his equivocal tendencies when it comes to answering questions about his votes and what he actually stands for... Edwards chimed in, about his "present votes" that Obama is not willing to take a stand, and prefers to dodge tough issues playing it politically safe... Hillary was effectively saying that Obama is weak on issues and slippery in conversation.  And she made it stick..

One gets the feeling that Obama does not have a record to stand on... That is, he much more comfortable talking about change and unity than actual issues.... That when it comes to issues Obama tries to slip the conversation to his political stump speech, or some variation there of.

Hillary was in effect saying there is a "Nothing Burger" in center of all this talk, that his words are beautiful, but there is nothing behind the rhetoric.  Also on the health care issue, his slipping and sliding did not do anything to remedy her charge of his political "obliqueness," on issues.  Edwards also pushed him to "clarify" and finally with the help of the moderator, Obama admitted his plan was not all inclusive... He would have done better if he would have stated the small differences and moved on....

Maybe it was a good night for Obama, with regard to South Carolina's up coming primary, but nationally he really took some big hits...  Hillary won the debate, Edwards sensing Obama's weakness, switched his strategy of attacking Hillary when he deemed incorrectly that she was weakening, to attacking Obama, in hopes he can gain at Obama's expense...

That's right folks it's a rough game,  there are three Gladiators in the Democratic Arena, they are all locked into a "Political" life and death struggle. I must say admiringly, three worthy champions of the prize... May the best "man" win...

What everyone seems to forget is Hillary Clinton can do the job of President of the United States of America.
What has Obama shown he can do?  Oh, now he's on a soap box deep in the heart of Southern Country but who is he?  Is he Martin Luther King?  Is he JFK?  Is he Bobby Kennedy?  Is he sent from heaven??? Obama is an amature who has supported African American rights from day one and only worked for that portion of the U.S. population.  What is going to happen if he is nominated and then elected?  What about this Department of Racial Justice he is going to create.  What is this department?  What are its goals?  Has this been written by Al Sharpton/Jesse jackson??? Where does Oprah fit into all of this.  What is the Department of Racial Justice?  Obama supporters:  Please offer an answer to this.
Senator Obama is most adept at hurling accusations while making very non-specific promises.  His lack of national and international experience should readily disqualify him for president in the mind of anyone who recognizes the disaster of the current administration led by a rank and not very bright amateur.  Change, as promised by Sen. Obama, can occur only with the advice and consent of Congress.  This candidate has little experience in dealing with negotiation and compromise which will be required to accomplish his 'changes'.
Yeah for Obama!!!!

I am tired of old Clinton spin......it is the same as Bush talk....

Hillary changes her mind more than people change their socks....

She attacks Obama or unleashes her pit bull disgrace of an ex-president when she cannot defend her policies, or when the short-term bump in the poll from her crying jags has faded...

Why can Bill get away with just yelling at people whenever they challenge Hillary's faulty logic???

I don't see anybody else's spouse in either party attacking reporters, candidates, or journalists, like Bill does on a daily basis?

Former Pres. Clinton was impeached and he is not running!!!! Let's keep things in perspective!!!
What goes around, comes around. Hillary and Bill thought that they could win the nomination by viciously attacking Barack. While they may have taken some good jabs at him, they've done a better job at becoming polarizing figures within their own Democratic party.

I am even now more concerned that Hillary will not be able to win in November. She will not only be able to win over moderates and independents, but she may not get a good number of Democratic voters.
Californian and Bill Lee, a present vote is used in the Il senate as a tool for compromise. Something our next Prez will have to be able to do. As you can see America is in some deep poo poo and it is going to take a lot of give and take to get us out. Do you really think that Hillary and Bill are ready to do that? They seem to want to rule and not govern. I voted for Bill twice and would have voted for him again if I could have but, I am sorry to say Hillary is not Bill.
nice comment, KMM.  isn't the whole notion of obama's candidacy that he can bring people together.  yet, here you are suggesting to divide the party if your candidate doesn't win.  such a load of bull.  when are people going to see through all of his rhetoric???  wake-up.  HRC is the fighter who can beat the republicans (and bloomberg) and win the white house back!!
Obama "says what he means and means what he says"  so we should expect tax cuts to improve social security.  GREAT.  That is the true meaning of the word "Hope."

We don't need 4 years of "present."
Bill Lee...you should get your attacks right!  He didn't miss the votes, he voted "present" which obviously means he was there (present = there).

Voting present is a strategy and a real valid option in Illinois.  It's different than votes in Congress.  Either Clinton and his/her supporters are ignorant and need some education on the issue or they are deliberately distorting the facts.

Given that the he/she Clinton campaign looked all the way back to Obama's kindergarden years, it's safe to say they understand that a "present" vote is taking a stance in Illinois.  So that means they are intentionally misleading the country INCLUDING his/her supporters!  Do you not feel betrayed by your he/she leader?

Hope, honesty, integrity, truth, and justice:
Obama 08
Californian-so you are buying the Clinton lies hook line and sinker.  Opposing the war and providing money for troops who are already there are 2 totally seperate things.  Once a war is authorized and started, a few senators can't just demand a retreat.  This arguement by the Clinton's is ridicluous.  She voted for funding , even after she thought the war was going badly.  This is all an attempt by her to obscure the fact that she got the most important vote of her life WRONG!

The 130 out of 4000 present votes has been written by several outside sources to be a normal occurence in the Illinois legislature.  And effectively counts as a no. Yet, the Clintons persist to make a mountain out of a mole hill.  Is this the best attacks they can come with?  That's how clean Obama is.

Obama had a very good attendance record for votes in the US Senate until he started running for President.  Since then he has missed some (just like the rest of the Senators who are running).

I can't believe that Hillary has the audacity to call a press conference just to reiterate her false attacks.  This is desperate because she knows he beat her handely in the debate.  And America is getting a glimpse at the Clintonian politics and all the negativity that comes with it.  This has nothing to do with race or gender.  Obama's the one whose presidential, Hillary is the panderer.
So you are telling me that because Senator Obama has the presence of mind to THINK before he votes, to READ before he votes, to CONSIDER THE BILL before he votes, he is being CRITICIZED? That is laughable!

I would rather have someone vote "Present" if they don't completely agree with a bill rather than someone who AUTHORIZES WAR WITHOUT READING THE INTELLIGENCE for themselves and constantly has to explain away all the BAD VOTES (like the Bankruptcy bill and the declaring part of the Iranian military a terrorist group) they have made in the past.

Sometimes it's better to take no stand than make a BAD STAND, especially when people's LIVES are in the balance.
OMG!!

It's the ecomony stupid... Does Obama have to follow the Clinton's on every single issue...  Yes!

Dear Californian,

Do you think that funding the war is the same as going to war? I take it you did not have a child, spouse, or parent who was called upon to serve in Iraq before that funding was approved. Our Reserve Units had to self-armor their vihicles becaused the government couldn't "afford" to keep them safe. While in the "safe" zone, my son had to sleep on a board because the military couldn't afford a mattress. The government took money from his paycheck for meals, for crying out loud.

Had Obama NOT voted to fund the war, I wouldn't even consider voting for him.

My son was a Reservist in college. Since he was under the maximum age set by insurance and a full-time student, he was covered by our health insurance plan.  He was deployed, and returned too old to be covered by health insurance. Now he is uninsured and completely unable to afford insurance.

The military and our government has shamefully forgotten about our soldiers. They make sounds about taking care of their health, addressing PTSD, etc., but I can verify that this is a lie.  My family was a very proud military family. I hate the disappointment I have come to feel during the last few administrations.

Clinton (Bill) is partly responsible for the underfunding of our military. I heard from Secret Servicement assigned to them during Clinton's administration that he AND Gore hated to visit the military bases. Once, upon having been given a keepsake with the military base's name on it, Gore threw it at a Secret Serviceman immediately after leaving and told him "to get that away from him."

Obama has a wonderful, comprehensive plan for our military. I believe he will turn this around, and do it honestly.
To KMM, though I completely share your disgust with the Clinton's, no matter who the nominee is, we are all going to be Democrats after the nomination, and we will need to work together.  It is a dangerous thing to talk like this becasue it only emboldens the enemies of the party, and that is not good for anybody.
wrong, KMM.  both clinton AND obama are statistically behind McCain.  and they both are ahead of all the other repubs.  i'm sick of all the obama-ites claiming he's the only one who can beat republicans in the general.  guess you've forgotten the clintons have already done it twice!!!
Obama said, "...but most of us know that if you don't want to see a bill pass, there's a pretty easy option available -- you can vote against it.”

He forgot the other option, vote "Present".
I certainly understand that Hillary and Edwards will pick and choose which Obama "votes" to highlight, despite a career of over 4000 votes -- why? -- because they're politicians.  But readers, please stop the madness and focus on the real issues.  Everything is certainly not black and white and I am sure there was a lot of "gray area" surrounding those 130 "present" votes.  Get a grip, folks.  Out of 4000 votes, if he had questions about those 130 bills, who is to say there were not legitimate concerns??

Unless anyone of you has actually done the research and fully understands how the Illinois senate works, and then can point out discrepancies in what Barack is saying -- I take him at his word.  And that is not something, as history has proven, you would ever hear me say about the Clintons.
FIRST READ - can any one of you get to the truth behind the statement (read: accusation) that Pres Clinton made during a speech, about the coercing of culinary union members to caucus for Barack Obama in Nevada?  I'd sure like to know if this really occurred.  thanks!
Go Obama that's how you deal with "Hillbilly"!  Finally someone calling her out finally someone with courage and conviction.  My votes with Obama!
boynLA - didn't sound like Obama crying to me. Sounded more like he's making legitimate charges of Clinton distortions, and doing so with either no emotion or at times even amusement at how obvious some Clinton lies are. The only ones who have cried so far are Clinton and Romney.
I finally got a chance to listen to the debate ...
1) Fmr. Sen. J. Edwards was not above the attacks.
2) They all made good points--Clinton, Obama and Edwards--and that was my favorite part.  The candidates needed to say, "I agree with ..." more.
3) The second half was more enjoyable/productive.
4) This is where I relate it to this thread ...
--Obama should stand up for himself, his ideals and his record against the distortion by the Clintons plural.  However, the man needs to learn to speak more succinctly.  A more useful strategy would be to briefly rebut and propose the facts, offer his plan and ideals, and focus primarily on the future and hope--he can't lose that message.  I don't think he is responding to the charges in the most efficient manner.

--I hope if he is continuing to talk about the future and hope, that the MSM and FirstRead reports that too.
Look, you have to fund the troops once they are in. Obama opposed the war in Iraq the beginning, but that doesn't change the reality that we have troops in Iraq now and need to be funded. He has always said, thought that the Bush admin "took their eyes off the ball" in Afghanistan where the real threat lies. He and other congress members have tried to steer that effort back to Afghanistan to concentrate on Al Quieda.

Second, a present vote in the Illinois senate isn't a pass but also indicates the bill needs more work in order to pass. Not that hard to comprehend.
“I know!” Obama yelled out before continuing, “I know you can get away with this in Washington, but most of us know that if you don't want to see a bill pass, there's a pretty easy option available -- you can vote against it.”

That's pretty ironic considering how many times he voted 'present' here in IL. Last night he said he opposed the youth sentencing bill but he voted 'present' on it and over a hundred other bills. If he really believes that if you don't want to see a bill pass you vote against it then why did he vote 'present' and why did he defend his 'present' votes?

His hypocrisy knows no bounds.
The debate put me solidly behind Barack Obama for two reasons.
1. Clinton had repeatedly attacked Obama for considering 1 trillion dollar tax on "hard working Americans" to fund Social Security.  Apparently, Clinton is opposed to “raising the cap” on Social Security payroll tax on wages over $97,000 (about 6% of the population makes over that amount). Hillary apparently thinks that the middle class can fund SS from 100% of their wages while those that make more, can fund SS on just 50%, 20% or .5% of their total income and still be eligible for full benefits. She thinks the burden should stay on the middle class.
2. Also, Hillary wants to mandate (or force) everyone to pay for health care. The thinking is that will drive the price down. What incentive is there for insurance companies to lower the price is everyone is force to buy it? Further, Obama would have kids going to college stay on their parent’s health care. Hillary would have kids after they turn age 18 (whether in college or not) buy their own. Their parents would still likely have to continue to pay for a family plan, but insurance companies would benefit with another paying customer at age 18.
For all her talk about how families are struggling with gas, education, heating, and food costs, she wants to increase the financial burden by adding a mandatory health cost too.
Some would call Hillary's attacks on Obama's stance on these issues as a way to deflect the real impact her own policies would have on the American people as politically artful. I'd call it a con job.
Fired up!
Ready To Go!

Go Obama!!!
