Some Huck staffers work for free

Posted: Tuesday, January 22, 2008 5:57 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy
In brief conversation with Huckabee's press secretary, Alice Stewart, NBC confirmed that there are some members of Huckabee's senior staff that have volunteered to continue working without pay in the run up to February 5th. Stewart said that some senior staffers along with several staff members who worked for Huckabee in early primary states have voluntarily offered to work for free so that the campaign can save money.

"We've got plenty of cash on hand to compete in the February 5th states," Stewart said, adding that the campaign raised over $250,000 at last Sunday's Virtual BBQ at Chuck Norris' ranch in Texas. But in an effort to scale back, Stewart said "there are some folks who have volunteered to stay on without pay," and there are some employees from early states that have been let go because "it's just not necessary to keep those folks on staff."

This decision was made in the past couple of days, Stewart said, and there will probably be more efforts to maintain the frugal approach that has characterized the campaign thus far. But she also emphasized that Huckabee was not pulling out of Florida and would compete there as well as in most of the states on February 5th.

joel, god loves democrates
What struck me most about this was how sensible this campaign has been about frugality and making do with less.  Huckabee said the campaign was simply not going to go into debt.

Not spending money you don't have - what a novel idea!

If only we had someone in the White House who conducted the affairs of the government this way.
L Koch and I like Mike- yeah, he's great with money and government- just look at what he did in Arkasas- oh wait, he raised taxes net $5 million.  A fiscal conservative he most definitely is NOT.

Joel- gag.  God is not a respecter of persons.  And if he were going to "endorse" a candidate the way you are suggesting, he would choose someone who loves all people and is ethical.  Huck doesn't qualify.  Some of God's greatest gifts to us as humans are life and agency.  He is not going to take that away from us so that your favorite candidate can rule a country for a few years.  Give me a break.
To even suggest such a thing is contrary to God's purpose, and Huck using God as his personal promotional material is a perfect example of "thou shall not use the name of the Lord thy God in vain"...

With Huckabee as president, we will end up with big government, taxed to death, and criminals on the loose. Huckabee says he wants to get rid of the IRS and the federal income tax and replace it with the fair tax, which would be even worse. The American people can't afford it, 23 percent or more tax on top of state and local taxes on everything you buy! Ron Paul was the first to say that he wanted to get rid of IRS and the Federal Income Tax, but replace it with NOTHING! That's right nothing, no more taxes, we don't need it. Huckabee is a copy cat and a liar, he even lied about having a theology degree! He dropped out after his first year. Read it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Huckabee You Christians need to wake up, see and hear the real truth as I have. Do your research people before you just go with your feeling or what someone else says! Here is a great website to look at: http://www.huckabeeexposed.com/ I pray that you will listen the real voice of truth, God, and ask him for discernment! Vote for the real conservative Christian, Champion of the Constitution, and the last hope to save the United States of America as we know it, Congressman Ron Paul M.D.! www.ronpaul2008.com
Susan, you've got to be kidding me.  "All God's people" did not burst into tears.  There are lots of believers in God who do not believe in the same way as Huck, and are not upset that he lost (even many evangelicals who DO believe the same as him are not supporting him).

You're going into debt for a political candidate?  Giving your widow's might to God is one thing, going into debt over a failing political campaign is irresponsible.  Putting food on my kid's table and paying the rent is more important than Mike Huckabee's losing campaign. Sorry.
After the failing campaign, Huckabee should join Chuck Norris in business and sell weigh loss machine together.  They should call it:

"THE HUCK & CHUCK TOTAL LOSER GYM"
