Duncan Hunter backs Huckabee

From NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann
Duncan Hunter, who ended his presidential bid last weekend, just issued this statement: “I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail. Of the remaining candidates, I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China’s emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America’s industrial base.

Hunter continued, "Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity.  I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee."

The only thing Huckabee has going for him in this campaign is... Chuck Norris. And that's not saying much.
Huckabee is only in favor of a strong national defense that doesn't require his personal involvement.  And as a Southern Baptist minister he is clergy in the only Christian sect that I am aware of that allows segregated congregations and does not mandate confessional privilege.
I suspected Hunter was a closet liberal.
I would agree with Mr. Hunter...Mike Huckabee not only connects with much of the American public on matters of moral stance, integrity and character, but also sees the reality of today for what it is - still bringing hope and the desire to forge a new path through the mucky waters we as a nation are wading in. That is why I choose to back Mike Huckabee as well.
I saw a post the other day that compared star wars characters to the presidential contenders. I think Duncan Hunter was Greedo and Huckabee was an Ewok. It's nice to see them sticking up for eachother.
HE WOULD BE THE CANIDATE IF FOX NEWS HADNT KILLED HIM IN S CAROLINA===========AND FRED THE TROPHY WIFE GUY===LIED AND GOT SOME OF HIS VOTES=====MAYBE HE STILL CAN PULL IT OUT.  HUCKABEE SUPPORTERS REMEMBER FOX AND BOYCOTT THEM  I HAVE
Okay?  Like Duncan's 0% was going to help Mike.  And after Florida, they are both going to have to pick someone else to endorse because Huckabee is completely broke and will be forced to drop out before Feb 5th.

Hint to Duncan and Mike:  Don't endorse Rudy either.  He is also broke and will be dropping out before Feb 5th too.
Thank you Duncan Hunter.

I hope this finally puts to rest the nonsense about Mike Huckabee that has been spread by his opponents. Mike Huckabee is a real conservative, he is pro-life, pro-military, anti-amnesty, and was overwhelmingly re-elected twice by the people of Arkansas!

He has more governing experience than any candidate in the race. Everyone should think twice about the Huckabee campaign before the Florida Primary and Super Tuesday.

Not to worry, Duncan. Mike will be on the sidelines with you soon enough!!
Awesome

Go Mike!
Good for Duncan Hunter.  He's a good man...just never really got anyone too excited on the campaign trail.  He'd make a perfect Secretary of Defense.

What I'd really like to know is...what will Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter say about this endorsement?  They've been praising Hunter's name for months...and trashing Huckabee.

Huckabee needs Fred in is corner now.
The other candidates are now breathing a sigh of relief and thanking their lucky stars that Hunter didn't endorse them.
Kudos to MSNBC, the only major news site that has this posted. Many may think that it is a last ditch effort to get Huckabee elected, his so-called blaze of glory, but how many people out there liked Hunter, but thought he had no chance to win. Now he is teamed with a viable candidate, albeit another longshot and this could very well turn the Republican nomination completely to Huckabee. Thanks msnbc for covering this HUGE endorsement.
Hopefully Huckabee can pull it off. It all starts with stuff like this. With Thompson out, McCain having the charisma of a tree trunk (why do you think the Dem's want him to win)and Guliani fading fast, things could get interesting here in Florida. If Thompson would have got out before South Carolina, Huckabee would have faired way better. That is all the difference in the world.
I like Huckabee!
Another good reason not to vote for Huckabee, Duncan likes him.
Duncan Hunter is a very smart man! Huckabee is my first choice and Hunter was my second. I would love to see Hunter as VP...what a solid team!
Ther is no stopping Huckabee now. First Chuck Norris, then Duncan Hunter, all thats left is Pee Wee Herman.
I think Duncan Hunter's a delusional buffoon on the issues, but he seems like an okay guy, so I can see why he'd get on with with an affable fellow like Huckabee.
DA- oh yes, we should follow your example... because your comments on these blogs are always so rational, level-headed, and well thought out... or not.

Michelle- solid team?  Um no.  They would get slaughtered in the general.  Duncan Hunter is okay, but Huckabee has shown himself to be petty, unethical, and not trustworthy.  If he was solid, people would be helping him by sending contributions.  They aren't.

Terrence, if you think Huck is anti-amnesty, you may not realize that that rhetoric is a recent development on his part (yet he claims he's never flip flopped).  Do a little research.  You'll see that only 2 years ago, he was saying that enforcing borders and not providing amnesty was "anti-Christian" and "anti-American" among other things.

Way to go Duncan...I like Mike and am now an MSNBC watcher. I am a member of Huck's Army and from what I read a great majority of us have left Fox (aka Faux) for MSNBC. Especially Morning Joe. At least they give Huck some air time and positive coverage. Fox is in the tank for Willard.
I can see why Duncan Hunter picked the Huckster.  I dont like Mike Huckabee, but he was clearly the only choice he had.  This guy has to have a wee bit of ounce of integrity out of the other bozo's.  Im sure he was pressured to endorse someone, who better than a fellow Bapstist.
