Romney stresses economy in new ad

From NBC/NJ's Erin McPike
On the morning of MSNBC's GOP debate here, Romney's campaign launched another new ad in Florida. Instead of taking shots at rivals McCain or Giuliani, who are both making hard plays for the state, Romney is putting forth a positive message in his latest TV spot.

Drawing on glowing quotes from a handful of conservative media outlets, the ad begins with one that asserts the economy is the most important issue -- a boon to Romney, especially given recent instability in the market.

He even sneaks in a mention from the Boston Globe, a paper that's been none too kind to the former Massachusetts governor, which lauds him for being "at his best in crisis mode."

Hey Romney why don't you just take all your money and give it to the poor. You would be helping us out alot more that way.
I agree... The economy IS the most important challenge the nation will face in the next few years.

I also agree that Mitt Romney is far and away the best candidate to tackle the economy.  While Romney has two Masters Degrees in Business from Harvard, John McCain is simply admitting that he needs "tutors" when it comes to the economy... scarrry!
Great ad by Romney... and he is obviously the most capable of handling the economy.

McCain even admits he doesn't know what he is doing when it comes to business.
The Republican world is finally coming around to Romney... and the sooner the better for our party.
Well done ad... and timely.

McCain says he can get us into another war - Romney says he can get us out of the recession.

Hucklebee still doesn't even know WHERE he is.
IT'S OVER WITH MITT-your know YOU ARE IT.

-because it's America: LET'S PRETEND BLACK, FEMALE AND 'HERO' are contenders.
Romney should have run this kind of campaign months ago.  I am actually starting to like him.
Mitt Romney:

Our political system has been reduced to an entity on the auction block to the highest bidder - YOUR FREE MARKET ECONOMY at work.  Why don't you stop the corruption and support McCain/Feingold?
If the anti-Mormon attacks on this site causes anyone to want the Mormon response to such, then, I''d recommend the http://www.jefflindsay.com/LDS_Intro.shtml and http://www.fairlds.org/ sites. Fairness to the Mormons demands this.
For Mitt Romney: Do you agree or disagree that McCain/Feingold represents that money = free speech, and if so, how are Average Americans able to compete in the costly bidding process of huge corporate and special interests for access and policy making????? Thank You, Deborah Aldinger
Romney clearly understands our economic problems better than anyone else running in this race. Mitt Romney is a head in delegates, and has the funds to continue even after florida. Mccain and Huckabee are not conservatives and everyone knows it. Florida voters understand who the true conservative is, and that man is Mitt Romney. GO FLORIDA!!! GO MITT!!!
Romney has been running a great campaign from the beginning...the problem is the media publishes what they want you to hear and see. Romney has pointed out differences between himself and the others....which in my book is not negative.
J.M., Wrong party! If  you are looking to sale your vote, or get a handout contact the Clintons.
he does not point out differences. he distorts others records dishonestly, often and spends millions to broadcast it. factcheck.org has called him out so many times it's not funny.
I was undecided, but have given my support to Romney.  Very conservative and has integrity.  I would like to see him take Washington apart and put it back together right like he did in MA. and the olympics.
Romney is the only candidate with a proven track record.  He has shown time and again that he can take something that is broken and fix it.  He has done it in the private sector (Bain Capital), the Not-for-Profits (2002 Olympics), and Government (Massachusatts).  That is a heck of a resume - one that no other candidate comes close to.  McCain, Hillary and Obama are comfortable sitting in chairs, listening to arguments, and saying YES, NO or PRESENT.  That is not leadership in any way shape or form.
if you like bush you'll love mccain or rudy911...too bad 2/3 of us think  bush sucks
All of the other Republicans hate Romney. (Think "Everybody Loves Raymond" in reverse or "Everybody Hates Romney").

And he loses to Hillary in every poll, worse than any other Republican.

He'll never gain mass appeal and will make it easy for Hillary to win the presidency.

Please don't nominate him.
It's probably for the best that it's taken people this long to come around to him.  It seems that what ever candidate gets built up by the press, also gest torn down by them.  He's better off having waited this long for people to recognize that he's a winner, and that he's the best person for the job.

I think it is best that we all pray the best person will be elected to the presidency of our great land. I know there are good people out there who are Mormon and not Mormon who know the value of prayer. I pray God will direct and inspire our president now and whoever is chosen this year. We should all submit ourselves in God's care and mercy as we go through the challenges that face our nation together.

I think Mitt Romney said it best that "whoever does become the President of the United States will need the prayers of all people" even if that president is a Mormon, or Baptist, Pentacostal, Muslim, Black, White, Male or Female. We should all pray for the candidates and for our choice in who should lead our nation. No one knows more about the challenges facing this country more than Christ. He is our only hope for getting through those difficulties. Our hope should not be on any one candidate, but in Christ.
Deborah Aldinger, Belleville, PA 17004 - you raised good questions and he'd be the first to tell you that McCain/Feingold is a rotten piece of legislation. Good intentions do not make up for bad policies. This is the reason why he has invested his own money rather than actively seek endorsements. No one owns him, that's the beauty of his campaign. People can say what they want about him being well off, but that's the beauty of America - land of opportunity.
Jim, South Bend, IN: Hopefully you meant to write that all the other Republican CANDIDATES hate Romney. Just making sure, because last I checked he had the most number of delegates, the most states won, and the backing of the majority of the prominent members of the conservative establishment.

So what if the other GOP candidates don't like him. Personally, I don't like them. I think their hateful, spiteful and jealous (and at least 1 is a bigot). I'm sick of people like them representing my party and my country.
What is wrong with pointing out that McCain voted aganst Bush's tax cuts. He did or he did not. McCain is know saying in an ad that he would make them permanent. That is a filp, flop. Now is that strait talk. It is ok to pointed out differences.
Romney will win Florida and that will snowball him all the way.
Romney will win Florida and that will snowball him all the way.
Ed, nicely said.  Cassidy- I agree with you, but you made one mistake.  Romney does not have two master's degrees from Harvard.  His has an MBA (master of business administration) and a JD (Juris DOCTORATE)- which is a doctorate in law.  So, one master's degree, one doctorate degree. He did them at the same time and graduated in the top 5% of both groups. He is by far more educated that the other republican contenders- and it shows.
I don't mind someone firing government employees and cutting useless programs that are a waste of money, but couldn't anyone do that?

Anyone who wants to, can go to the United States government's official website and see all the programs and how they are rated. It shows which programs are worth the money and which are not.

You don't have to be Mitt Romney to figure it out. You have to be a leader.

Both Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee have something the other front-runners do not, experience governing a state. And of the two, Mike Huckabee has shown the best leadership and governing abilities. That is why Mike Huckabee was re-elected twice. Mitt Romney was not re-elected even once.

Mike Huckabee was in the governorship for eleven years. In that time the tax rate never went up. Yes he raised some taxes, and he cut many more. And when he was finished, Arkansas schools had gone from near the bottom of the list of states to the top, and they had the best roads in the country.

That's leadership. That's governing. That's real world success. That's why I encourage everyone I know not to get swept up in the Romney hype.

Consider Huckabee before you vote.
All other Republicans do not "hate Romney".  I am a Republican and I love Romney!!!  And many others that I personally know love him too.  Look at his life....he's a real family man.  He's been a tremendous success in all that he has done from personal success in business, to turning around a debt ridden olympics, to taking the state of Massachusetts from red to black as governor.  This guy has it all and can help the US get out of our present economic mess.  If we're smart, we'll elect him and save ourselves a lot of economic grief.
Terrance:

Clarification on why Mitt Romney wasn't re-elected.  HE DECIDED NOT TO RUN AGAIN AS GOVENOR.  He decided to run for President of the United States instead.  I guess it takes Mike Huckabee 2 times as govenor to figure out things.

It only takes Mr. Romney one time.

Was Mr. Huckabee on the slow track?

The one question I have for Romney, if he's so interested in our education then, is he going to continue by bringing other classes back like art, music, those classes that were cut off? Do you think he'll try to bring them back to our schools if he were elected president?
