Chelsea Clinton at Boston College

Posted: Friday, January 25, 2008 3:59 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC special contributor John Wheatley
BOSTON -- Hundreds of Boston College students and faculty crowded Hillside Cafe here yesterday for a rare on-the-record campaign appearance by Chelsea Clinton, the former first daughter. Chelsea, who was generally kept well out of the media's sight during the Clinton presidency and has not said a great deal publicly during her mother's campaign, was well received by a crowd that overflowed on to the sidewalk and out into the street in front of the café. She made brief opening remarks before opening it up to questions from the audience, answering directly most of the questions asked of her.

She spoke cogently, showing a strong knowledge of policy specifics. She drew laughter when she waved to a small group of pro-life protesters who were holding signs up against the café’s windows. Avoiding direct criticism of her mother’s rivals, Chelsea answered questions about them by focusing instead on her mother’s record as senator.

Yesterday's event was sponsored by Boston College's chapter of the College Democrats. The sudden push by Team Clinton to increase Chelsea’s role on the campaign trail is part of a larger campaign strategy to woo young voters, who may be drawn to Obama’s youth and theme of change.

Was she asked who she was rooting for next week - Eli Manning or Tom Brady?
So, I forget. Whose turn is it in 2016? Chelsea or one of Jeb Bush's kids?
Two articles so far today on Chelsea Clinton and none on Obama - Are you kidding?
i think hillary is the nomine among the democrats, this is because she has more experience than any one else and the biggest problem in our country is health care and economy crises . she has the universal plan that covers every american and 1990 bill clinton era our economy was boosting and its time to do it again.
Jaycee - my money is on Jeb! :)

Unless of course Bill Clinton decides he needs a fourth term . . . hmmm . . .
Why is Chelsea Clinton news?

This is what should be covered by First Read. The head of Naral today wrote:

"Beginning in Iowa, continuing into New Hampshire, and now in South Carolina and the states voting in the February 5 contests, there has been an undercurrent of speculation and innuendo that calls into question Sen. Obama’s record on choice...
Here are the facts pro-choice voters need as they head to the polls, whether this weekend in South Carolina, on “Tsunami Tuesday” to vote for the Democratic Party's nominee, or on November 4 when we all vote for the next president of the United States:  Sens. Clinton, Edwards, and Obama are fully pro-choice.  NARAL Pro-Choice America endorsed all three candidates in their previous campaigns.  All of the candidates have voted pro-choice; have publicly affirmed that they are pro-choice; and have taken actions that back up their pro-choice voting records and statements."

Let me just add this wasn't some random  innuendo, but rather the direct result of a Clinton direct mail piece directly before the NH primary questioning Obama's commitment to choice.
Hey ernest minnix naugatuck ct:

Hillary's "universal plan" doesn't cover everybody, it makes you cover yourself - don't get it twisted! And the economy wasn't booming in the 1990's because of Bill Clinton, it was because of Al Gore's internet! :)
Zzzzzzzzz...
Hillary Clinton's experience includes abandoning her pledge in 93 to provide Americans with Universal Health Care, supporting NAFTA which sent thousands of jobs oversees, and for voting for the Iraq war which has led to the death of thousands of soldiers and 600,000 Iraqi's.  In the matters that matter most, she has failed this country.

She has run her campaign based upon the very good things her husband did during his Presidency.  Unfortunately, she's no Bill Clinton.

Time to turn the page. Obama 08
Was this a staged event like Obama's?

Per NY Newsday

The Barack Obama campaign organized an "economic roundtable" of South Carolinians, scheduled with the Illinois senator for 11:30 a.m. today. But nearly an hour and a half before the event — at 9:36 a.m. — the campaign e-mailed to reporters a text of what the participants "said."

"At the Columbia roundtable, Donna McGreevy, a mother of two grown sons, said her family was feeling pinched on all sides by the weakening economy," the e-mail read. “When it comes to the economy, I have firsthand knowledge and experience in just about every area where we are seeing problems."

hillary is the tonya harding of politics.

WAKE UP PEOPLE! let's not trade one liar for four more years of another.

All of a sudden Cheslea is starting to appear... is she practicing to be President, down the road as well?

Might as well!  Clintons think they rule the world... truth is dictated by what comes out of their mouths!
And Barack Obama's experience?  Voting "present" about 130 times in the IL state legislature, and voting "incorrectly" 5 times (which let him vote one way and then say he didn't really mean to... sorta like he voted one way before he meant to vote the other way...), speaking against the Iraq war before voting for it... and for it... and for it... and for it.  Yeah.  That's the kind of experience we need after 7+ years of The Fool in the White House.
of course it makes you cover yourself.  (if youre a responsible adult) Nashville fan.  You want it free, you're going to have to go to another country.  We could never afford that and if we tried, the level of care would quickly decline.
We have people dying because they can't afford insurance as it is now and can't afford the outrageous drug costs.  Most of us pay in to plans right now and this would be no different--actually better because the less you make, the less money you make.
And unlike the current health system where insurance premiums send people into bankruptcy, Hillary's plan provides tax credits for working families to help them cover their costs. The tax credits will ensure that working families never have to pay more than a limited percentage of their income for health care.
Also, in her plan, there's no discrimination. The insurance companies can't deny you coverage if you have a pre-existing condition.
This would make a difference in so many lives.  Get educated before you critisize!!!

With Hillary's experience and qualification, I strongly believe that she will be the next president of our GREAT COUNTRY (USA).  I am eagerly looking forward to her presidency!

Hillary is my girl!
OOPS!  I PUSHED THE WRONG BUTTON.  (O'BAMA ON HIS FIVE INCORRECT VOTES).

I'M A "BONEHEAD".  (O'BAMA ABOUT HIMSELF AFTER THE REAL ESTATE DEAL WITH KNOWN CROOK, AND LONGTIME FRIEND REZKO)

YEP, THAT'S WHAT WE WANT IN OUR NEXT PRESIDENT...(A BONEHEAD WHO PUSHES THE WRONG BUTTON)

WAIT, DON'T WE HAVE ONE OF THOSE NOW?
