Obama accepts Kennedy's endorsement

From NBC/NJ's Aswini Anburajan
WASHINGTON, DC -- At American University, Senator Ted Kennedy, the lion of the Democratic Party took the stage, standing above a sea of 4,000 young faces and told the crowd, "I feel change in the air."

The crowd responded chanting, "Kennedy! Kennedy! Kennedy!" and "Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!"

"I remember another such time, in the 1960s, when I came to the Senate at the age of 30. We had a new president who inspired the nation, especially the young, to seek a new frontier.  Those inspired young people marched, sat in at lunch counters, protested the war in Vietnam and served honorably in that war even when they opposed it," Kennedy said.

That potential to lead a movement for greater change was what Obama promised he would deliver if he was elected president, when he took the stage after the Kennedy. "That is the dream we hold in our hearts. That is the kind of leadership we need in this country. And this the kind of leadership I intend to offer as president," Obama said.

But as he took the stage, Obama's first words were a reminder of the potential power of Kennedy's endorsement. "I stand here today with a great deal of humility. I know what your support means. I know the cherished place the Kennedy family holds in the hearts of the American people. And that is as it should be. Because the Kennedy family, more than any other, has always stood for what's best about the Democratic Party, and about America," he said.

Obama personalized his connection to the Kennedy legacy through the stories he said his grandparents and his mother told of that hopeful era in American politics. And in a poignant moment, he referred to his father, whom he rarely mentions on the campaign trail. He told the story of how his father was only able to study in the United States because of the Kennedy family's foundation that provided scholarships for foreign students to come to the United States.

"Because the Kennedy family, more than any other, has always stood for what's best about the Democratic Party, and about America," he said." But they're a dynasty and part of the Moses generation, no?

I'm shocked that he didn't refer to the Kennedys as a political DYNASTY. See, you can't be a dynasty of Husband and wife, dynasty means generational, like the Bush family, or the Kennedy family, yet the Obama-Nation constantly whines, "No dynasties!!!!"

I like the slant of your reporting too, like waiting a whole two sentences in the article below this to speculate on Hillary's, "intent", always a big part of your Clinton reporting.

Chuckles and Company have about a week to prepare their TT spin. Look for Chuckles to be surprised again, and the Obama-Nation to trot out every excuse that they've used to rationalize previous losses.
There is now 5 different articles about Ted Kennedy endorsing Obama on this website.  There was not one article written about Hillary getting the endorsment of the NY Times.  I may sound like a broken record, but when the bias is so obvious, I'm just going to keep pointing it out so the Obama supporters can see for themselves that what I'm saying is not a bunch of bull.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL OBAMA, AFTER READING THE CLINTON CHRONICLES.COM THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF DEATHS RELATED TO THE CLINTONS POLITICAL CAREERS, AND EVERYONE SAYS HILLARY WOULD DO ANYTHING TO WIN

PLUS LOOK AT HIS PARDONS OF DRUG CARTEL MEMBERS, CRIMINALS, AND BOMB MAKING TERROSISTS TO THE OBJECTION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT===THESE PEOPLE OWE HIM==PLUS THEY WANT MORE FAVORS==HE FIRED HUNDREDS OF DEA  ABOLISHED THE DRUG CARTEL INVESTAGAION AGENCY==GO FIGURE
Quick Hillary, send Bill out with some more lies. Then you can fall back on the old," I'm just a poor defenseless woman, Bill is just defending me, cause he loves me so much." It might work except that we all remember the "I did not sodomize that woman....Ms. Lewinski" lie.
This endorsement truly means alot to Senator Obama. I am so happy to see many leaders in the Democratic Party lending their support to Senator Obama's campaign.

Considering the wrath we have witnessed from the Clinton campaign when they don't get their way, it is truly an act of courage.
shame on you TED!  (he probably wasn't sober anyway).  but he shouldn't take out his anger at Bill on his wife.  Bill didn't come to heel when he told him to.  Bad Bill, but this is obvious payback.  and shreads the small amount of respect I had as a democrat for Ted Kennedy.
YES.WE.CAN.

GO OBAMA!!
What Msnbc meant to write was TED KeNEDDY, known as the coward that killed mary joe in chappaquidik , the old fat walrus of the democratic party, to back obama, even though his brother JFK NEVER signed the civil rights act, that would be LBJ for you know nothings. took the stage to dennouce the new deal and the great society and announnce the party of ME ME ME.Lets fire it up dont save nothing for the republicans.Oh if only the mental giant JFK  jr could endorse him.................SO WHAT THEY SOLD US DOWN THE RIVER AGAIN SO MUCH FOR UNITY
Ted joining Obama's "Choom Gang"?

That would be a hoot.

http://www.xmlgrrl.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/Barry-Obama-lg.jpg

Check out Barry yearbook pic and his shout out to his gang.
You need to fact check Obama's "stories".  He told a great story while speaking in Selma, about the civil rights strife that occurred in Selma, allowed his parents to "get together" and have a little Barack.

Well Barack was born 4 years prior to those historic events in Selma.

Gotta watch Obama and his stories.
Oh man, this is funny! All we've heard from Obama is change, change, change! A new day! And yet here he is embracing what is wrong with Washington!

Ted Kennedy is the last person that Obama should want endorsing him.

                woooooooonderful
If CNN who is run by the Republican Party would stop
try to explain what any hopful is saying, and just air the whole speach maybe the American people will hear the truth and not what CNN want them too. think about that.
The symmetry of Obama's father using a Kennedy Foundation grant to come to America for college and the Kennedy's endorsement of Obama is profound.
I am crying with joy.
Dear Friends:
Good Morning!  New Beginnings well we still have parties and they are not just with buddies and with the purpose of who is coming to dinner!

Well what if there is no money for dinner, the mortgage or having a beer, wine or water, or electric?

This young generation does not need to be left with a massive debt from the baby boomers generation or from the ones of past.  You are the most educated and bright young adults this nation has brought forth.  Use your computers you wisdom, education in all fields and trades and creat a computer model with as many dynamics as possible to show how paying off our national debt, creating jobs, bringing update to our federal buildings and schools and  perhaps a new congressional meeting building as our population is growing and the number in the house of representatives may increase thus a larger facility and with more updated computer technology and security as well, and doing it by getting rebates from solar and all possible as in homes and energy saving devises in our government offices as well as all across America would help,   new and faster train and transportation to meet the demands of the future and updated agriculture, our constitution of the USA requires congress and this administration and the Supreme Court together and the citizens we the people to pay equally and timely and payoff our debt where ever possible.  You high techs, students, deans, business people and citizens show how paying off our debt as soon as possible can make it where we are in a state of preparedness for the future.  Yours! Your childrens!     What we do not comply with and do today means all your needs put on a back burner in the future including clean air, military preparedness and clean water, and demographics.  The pardyme of Thinking  is in your mind how effective is your relativity thinking and quantitatum mathematically!
Will we be keeping up as in space travel, STAR WARS IS HERE!
LET YOUR BLOG, TEXT MAIL, EMAIL, FAX WHAT EVER YOU HAVE MOVE ACROSS THE AIR WAVES.  INTEL , IBM,  AEROJET, BANKS NOT JUST PROFESSIONALS BUT AS MANY AS POSSIBLE.  FORUMS,  QUADRUMS ( GROUPS INTEREXCHANGING AND CHANGING THE TALK PARTNERS AT TIMES OF DAYS OR TOPICS ) MAKE IT HAPPEN.  THE GRAND GIVE AWAY IS YOUR FUTURE!   OR GIVE IT TO WHOM?  China? or ?  Amen!

PS.  Get with it!  Bill Clinton is an expresident of the USA with insight and wisdom just as all other presidents and expresidents have.  Relativity and insight that Obama can not claim!   Plus Senator Hillary Clinton is his spouse also!

Senator John McCain has insight and is dynamic thinking, a man of experience in training and deciding the future of the military in space, the oceanonics, vantechnology, molecular structuring, driving force in the air, land, and in the sea and coming out of the sea.  Universally he cannot afford nor has he not stayed abreast of the advances we need.   Are you!   Spending credit cards too much is similar to not paying our national debt.  Our constitution requires it and not just mouthing it for a political vote.  Courage and preparedness not predjudice!    Medical preparedness!

Do not be manipulated by an endorcement!
Register and vote!
Could somebody please help me find info regarding McCain's affair.  Did he really cheat on his wife?  Is there any documented source that reveals this info?
This is a knock on Hillary Clinton's face; the clintons are done for good. No more divisive politics.
Some of you guys don't get it do you...and the cracks aren't funny. Ted represents one of the major gears of the Democratic party....the support has to fall SOMEWHERE. Obama won it.
The article linked below may give many a different perspective on the upcoming election.

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200712/obama
The story isn't that Hillary got the endorsement of her hometown paper; the story is the Kennedy's endorsement of Obama. Period.
What's important to note here is that the Kennedy mantle is being passed, in a most undynastic fashion, to a non-Kennedy. That means a lot for those who are tired of political family domination. It really is the American ideal.
Correct me if I am wrong but here are some facts.

Ted Kennedy (personal history aside) has been a long standing respected figure in my party and on the national political stage.

His children, nieces, nephews, etc etc. have nearly all gone into public life.

Ted Kennedy up holds the party BASE ideals and fights for them daily sometimes it is not popular and he has been ridiculed.

Ted Kennedy has campaigned for Democrats in the past but never chose one over another during the Primary season (his brothers excluded).

You do not have to like it but the Kennedy's are a large and powerful family and they mean a lot to Democrats.  There is a reason both Barack and Hillary wanted this nod.  So please do not bemoan that there are so many articles today about this very subject.  So a news paper endorsed Hillary and they did not run 4 to 5 reports on it.  News papers have endorsed Obama and it has gotten no more than a mention.  Personally I watched the speeches and I was moved by each and everyone of them.  I respect what they had to say and I too want to turn the page to a more proactive movement of our youth and a positive gov't that is not based on lies and greed.  This is historical and forth discussion so get over it and turn the page.
This symbolizes that even the established candidates can recognize when some monumental cause is stirring.  I do not believe most candidates want another Clinton white house, and fear another loss if Hillary is to get the nomination.  This will allow even more Democrats to step up and support the candidate they know can lead us forward.  Bold move by the Kennedy family, and I have a greater respect for them going against the grain.

It is a surprise the amount of hatred on this post, must be a lot of pro Hillary bloggers on the payroll for her attack machine.
I don't see kennedy's endorsement as a positive as far as independents and fence setters, kennedy is like hillary some people like him, more people despise him
Look at all these sad people who find it necessary to tarnish the Kennedy legacy.  I'll bet if Teddy was endorsing HRC, you would be singing a different tune.  But he's not....so live with it.
Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Pat Leahy...all Washington DC establishment, all insiders, and all takers of lobbyists and PAC money.  Why isn't the media asking if Obama hates DC and lobbyists so much why is he taking and trumpeting the support of these people?
I would agree witha  poster above and,

1.  I'm a hard core Obama supporter and precinct captain for the campaign

and,

b.  I really try to avoid accusing these guys of bias because they get it every day from both sides constantly.

BUT:

I was a bit surpised at how little headlines I saw the NYT endorsement of Senator Clinton get.  I was so dismayed to hear of it but, then here on MSNBC I hardly even noticed it.  Of course, it's timing was in the aftermath of the SC rout that was delivered by the Obama nation...

So just exactly where was that agent of change today with the 72 year old blow hard drunk/murderer from Massachusetts and his drug-addled son from Rhode Island?

Ironic, how First Read fails to note that even WITH the endorsement of BOTH Senators as well as the Governor of Massachusetts - Obama still TRAILS Clinton in that liberal bastion known as Massachusetts. So much for the Kerry/Kennedy momentum....it'll sink your candidacy faster than a car at the bottom of a river.....
Hillary's greatest nightmare- Last up KENNEDY; next up LINCOLN. I can hear it now, "experience without virtue is not an asset".

Our country is divided unlike anything since I was asked to heal it, and none can do it better today than my fellow countryman from Illinois.
WHy bother with posts or more posts ,posts every hour when you and your staff cant keep up with the few posts you get hire an intern anything but speed up the process we have computers now that travel through shoots and tubes and eventually end up at MSNBÇ
[[There was not one article written about Hillary getting the endorsment of the NY Times.]]

Only major endorsements appear on these sites. Backwater fish wrapping rags like the Times don't measure up to that standard.
Robert Kennedys children have endorsed Hillary Clinton. Why don't you make as big a deal over that as you are this Ted Kennedy endorsement. Most people remember Robert Kennedy with respect and most people remember Ted Kennedy as an embarassment to his family.
Yes We Can Yes We Can... Yes we are for change and new ideas and a new direction... but we are honored to accept the endorsement of the biggest relic in Politics let alone the Democratic Party, Ted Kennedy. One more example of the hyocracy of the Obama campaign.
Look, let's make at least some effort to be reasonable here.
Hillary fanatics- if the Kennedy's endorsed her you'd jumping for joy. There is more coverage of Obama's rally's and this endorsement. You are correct, but last time I checked, most media outlets are drawn to a hot story, and let's be frank, Hillary is not that hot at the moment.
This doesn't mean Hillary is evil. Obama gets people excited.  He may or may not win, but we should all be excited about the energy he has brought to the process.  Hundreds of thousands of new voters have been brought to the table this year.  THIS IS GOOD FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!!
I, for one, have grown so tired with the idea of a 34% voter turnout, that I am giddy over what I have seen so far.
Please, stay focused on getting the elephants out of the white house.  If the energy Obama has injected into the primary process can be maintained through the general election, either candidate will trounce the Republican nominee.  That is the goal here folks!!
Yeah this is ridiculous is this turning out to be a celebrity contest or what? yeah Take the old generation politics out? you got to be kidding me What is this nonsense speech Obama says about "CHANGE" change my diaper? dont go around and give out false promisess what obama wont deliver. people this is not the time for amatures. stick with people with more experinced team. tell Obama to come back in 10 yrs after few more years in Washington and get to know more.
Wow, the HIllary supporters remind me more and more of the Bush supporters of '04. Bashing anyone in their way (even the Kennedys), trying to divide & distract, and saying the media is biased. You guys are a riot.

Obama is the future, Hillary is the past.

O'8!!!

I'll be voting for a republican for the first time in my life and you can thank The Kennedy family. I do not want to be in a party that treats a former PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with total disrespect. The Clintons have fought their whole lives for what the democratic party stands for. They should be rewarded not humilated.  SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
No one likes Hillary!  She is going to lose!
I think it is also interesting to note - that the kenndy's are split too - Bobby's kids go for Hillary - and John's Sister/Brother go for obama -

How does that speak to the GEN divide?
AND THE OTHER HALF OF THE KENNEDY FAMILY IS OUT SUPPORTING HILLARY,(BOBBY JR., LT. GOV. KATHLEEN ETC.) BUT THAT'S NOT REPORTED HERE. THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING POSTIVE FOR HILLARY AND FIRST READ WOULD PUT 5 TERRIBLE TEDDY POSTS ON AND NOT EVEN ONE FOR THE OTHER HALF OF THE STORY.  CHECK THE POSTS HERE PEOPLE AND GO BACK A WAYS. FIND ONE THATS POSTITIVE FOR CLINTON WITHOUT HAVING SOMETHING NEGATIVE OR A SLY SLAM TACKED ON.  I FOUND ONE, IT WAS 2 LINES ABOUT HER WINNING AN ENDORSEMENT.
SAD...FOR UNBIASED REPORTING I GUESS WE HAVE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE.
NOT THAT THIS WILL BE POSTED, BUT I HAD TO TRY
ObamaRama,
You're 100% right.  She is by FAR the FAVORITE next Tuesday.  She has the lobbyist money, the biggest campaign infrastructure in history, and hundreds of endorsements from establishment Dems looking to get in good with the Clintons so that they can get slots in the next administration.

No question you're right.  If she doesn't win HUGE, as all the polls are saying today, it'll be a small victory for a guy that everyone says is just a rookie.  I'm just hoping he can stay within 10 points of her in all the major states.
Chuck, Mark and Domenico are riding the Obama wave right now because it is the story de jour. Hence all of the Obama endorsement coverage and nothing about the NY Times endorsement of Hillary.  I recently saw Chuck on MSNBC commenting about the candidates and he like many does not like Hillary. His choice of words clearly indicated he did not like HRC.
---- Ironic, how First Read fails to note that even WITH the endorsement of BOTH Senators as well as the Governor of Massachusetts - Obama still TRAILS Clinton in that liberal bastion known as Massachusetts.  ----

The Democrats in Massachusetts are a little dense, but  they've got a week to catch on. They're probably scratching their collective chins going "Who is this 'Obama' Teddy speaks of? A weeks a long time, they'll catch on around the time the Patriots win.
We are getting dumber and dumber by the year.  Every senator has the opportunity to scream to the media for change and since i never heard that from Clinton since she became a senator, i do not believe she truly want change. Now if a junior senator started screaming for change since state senate, i will likely believe that. Heck, there are other junior senators who have decided to join the career and thus keep their mouth shut and enjoy the gravy train. Any sensible elected official whom i beleive started out with good intentions should come back to earth and align themselves with Obama because when the **** hits the fan, we the people will remember and we have our votes to cast you off with the lobbists. Think America.... With Obama, better days are ahead with anyone else, we will be reliving the past ( the worst part of the past at least). good luck and god speed.
JFK had 14 years in the House and Senate when he ran in '60. Obama is only a 1st term Senator whose been running for Pres. since he was sworn in. Obama was introduced to the nation by his '04 keynote convention address--- he was only a state legislator then, and now he wants to be nominated for Pres. at the '08 convention. Contrast that with JFK,who had been nominated at the '56 convention for VP and lost narrowly to Kefauver. As of '56, four years before his '60 nomination, JFK had been in Congress 10 years and came close to being nominated VP. As of '04, four years before his desired nomination, Obama was a state legislator giving his maiden speech to the nation.

Clearly, Obama is no JFK. He's too inexperienced....way too green.

Hillary in '08!!
CNN is run by the Republican party???  You are obviously a disgruntled liberal flip-flopper.  CNN (Clinton News Network) is about as far left as any network can be.  If things were going your way, and CNN was only reporting on the rhetoric you deem so news worthy, you would be praising them.  But, alas, CNN has gained some insight (not a lot mind you), into what it means to be an unbiased journalistic agency.  As soon as they get off of your band wagon and start reporting both sides, we get the whiners and complainers.  Most likely, these are the same ones who are scared to death that their handouts will be taken away.
I do not understand why the same people who are all about "freedom of speech", get bent out of shape when the "free speech" is not in their favory.  Hypocrisy and mendacity... thy name is Liberalism.
Regardless of the naysayers concerning the hype about Obama and Hillary, all Americans, Democrat or otherwise, should stand tall, heads up, and feel proud that our nation has reached this point where gender and color are not important.  Proud out-loud to be an American today!
Ahhh.  The nectar of justice is sweet when it flows.  After watching the repulsive tactics of the Clintons of the past several weeks, after coming to a bitter awakening of the people that I had previously supported as best representing values of integrity, compassion and the democratic ideals of this country, I was shocked to see two thugs reveal themselves for the slime that they are.  Many of us, young and old, were disgusted with the Clintons, still are, and contemplated leaving the party should the Clintons win the nomination employing such Machiavellian tactics.  Ted Kennedy's appeal today not to do so – coupled with his valiant affirmation and validation of the ideals that is America and repudiation of the pitiful, contemptuous tactics that have angered us – at least reassured me that the party is listening.  The Kennedys' joining in the passionate cries for change, and uplifting us with their own historic embodiment of our democratic ideals, hope, courage and change, stirred me to the core.  God save America!
the fact that you allow the spread and promotion of the clinton chronicles garbage on here (which your own Joe Scarborough called an "embarassment" back when he was a REPUBLICAN congressman) is one of the biggest examples of your lack of integrity.  About one in ten of my pro-hillary comments (always written with care and no nastiness) gets posted, but you constantly allow that kind of unsubstantiated and widely denounced garbage to get through and posted.  Please at least try to pretend that there is some integrity to this site and stop that nonsense.  I notice that nothing on the "muslim, koran" O'bama smashing sites are promoted here.  hmmmm
