Huckabee strikes his own chord

Posted: Monday, January 28, 2008 8:01 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- As the Florida GOP race crescendos into tomorrow's primary, Mike Huckabee is in Music City hoping to drum up support for a strong showing on Super Tuesday.  Former Fred Thompson territory, Tennessee could be fertile ground for the governor, who picked up the endorsement of the state's Right to Life group and met with legislators in Nashville today.

Florida, says the Southern son, ain't no thang.

"I don't think that tomorrow is the turning point in the road," Huckabee told reporters today.  The Huckabee campaign has tried to downplay the Florida results, saying that focus on the Sunshine State is largely a creation of the media.

In Music City, where he will twang his own bass guitar later this afternoon,  Huckabee has stayed away from the noisy feud playing out between John McCain and Mitt Romney in Florida. Asked if the back-and-forth between the two frontrunners helps or hurts him, Huckabee gave a typically mischevious response. " If it hurts them, tell them to mix up some more mud and get it going," he said. " If it hurts me, tell them to stop that nonsense and start behaving like adults today."

It's hard not to like this guy. He does have a good record as a governor. He was voted one of the top 5 governors in the country by Time Magazine. He was elected by his peers to be the Chairman of the National Governors Association. He appears to have the ability to lead and govern. I say let's give him a chance in Washington.

Ooooh Please!  Can't we just forget this pantywaist, cry baby, bible-toting jackass?

Huckabee is a whiny little cross-eyed twit who was last spotted nursing off McCain -begging to be his "V.P."...
As big of a horses' ass that McCain is, he's still not as big of a bumbling fool as Huckadork...
Hey Huckamoron... Time to call it quits!

At least you can still have a career cheating little old ladies out of their retirement via televangelism....  Which is about all your phoney theology degree is worth!  (You know, the one you LIED about having!)

Huckabee and McCain... The two biggest dorks in politics!
Huckabee and McCain... The two biggest dorks in politics!
If Huckabee had a dollar for every brain cell he has, he'd almost have enough to buy another phony theology degree!
Where is "Campaign Carl" to kiss Huckabee's fat butt?
Where is "Campaign Carl" to kiss Huckabee's fat butt?
I'm surprised that Huckabee is smart enough to know which end to blow in!

He obviously knows which end to blow in to try and become McCain's running mate...  or, little buddy, if you prefer.
McCain better hope Huckabee stays in the race - He's the only one that makes McCain look less stupid.

Huckabee?
Huckabee?
Huckabee expects his wife to "graciously submit" to all of his selfish needs...

Guess what Huck, we want YOU to submit your RESIGNATION graciously... and go back to lying to your "parishioners" about how "religious" you are/aren't.
Just hung up on a McCain caller - somehow Huckabee's B.S. about how clean a campaign his buttbuddy McCain isrunning isn't getting through... surprise, surprise...
The Huckster is history, looking for a VP job?
You gotta like Huck!!! Huck is the only choice for me.
I think HUCK is going to sweep the south. I am pretty sure, The media is going to brand it as "SON OF THE SOUTH" victory. AL, AR, MO, TN, GA will most likely won by Huck.

Just saw Romney on NBC after the State of the Union Address. Wow, Romney is ready to lead. Wake up America, a guy like Romney does not usually desire to run for President. We need to all get behind this man. Go Romney!
What? ANOTHER story on that loser Huckabee?

HELLO!  Huckadumbell is as  irrelevant as the theology degree he lied about having!

If you HAVE to do a Huckabee story - do one on his son who tortured those animals to death for "fun" - and then equate it to one of Huck's hypocritical bible stories.
The only chord Huckabee strikes is the Hillbilly chord!

He and his PHONY "pastors" will be all upset if they ever have to actually go out and WORK for a living - instead of living off parishioners that they "scare" into thinking they're the "only" church of God - when in fact they aren't even Christian to begin with!
Just watched that jackass Chuck Norris blabber himself into a lather on TV...

Hey Norris - You're a 5 foot nothin shrimp with "little man's" disease... You're about one fifth as tough as you think you are.
Let's celebrait the Camelot's new son, and pray that hi is wordy.
What a daugther of the King,All admirable like a Hart's Queen.
What a Joy
Yes we can
Mike ROCKS! He's the best speaker with the best tax plan, hands down ( http://snipr.com/stephanopoulosdebate ).
It seems pretty clear to me that Huckabee's lack of success anyplace without a huge bloc of voting evangelicals makes him a one-trick pony. His campaign cost-cutting seems to be a last-ditch effort to hold the line so he gets enough delegates to show the strength needed for a VP slot on a Romney or McCain ticket. But of course, he seems to HATE Romney and vice versa....

One guy gave up and another found out too late that his strategy backfired. So we have McCain and Romney as the only two serious contenders in Florida. what they say about Romney is probably true. If his lips are moving he must be lying. It seems to me that if you can change your position about real serious issues like abortion and same-sex marriages so easily there must be a screw lose in your character. So, for the sake of the country, lets hope McCain takes this one. I'm leaning democratic myself but if a Republican gets in let it at least be somebody we can trust to speak the truth.
Forget about Huckabee.  It's all about Romney.  He's the only candidate left who the conservatives will back.  Thompson is gone, and the rest are all way too liberal.
Voting for Mike Huckabee!
Voting for Mike Huckabee!
Huckabee, your pathetic attempts at humor are so freaking annoying.
To tell you the truth, Mike....you're not that good of a bass player. And as far as the primary goes, let me put this in recording terms....you're a 'one hit wonder'!!!!
It's now official, Obama picked up the "L" label. That's "L" for losers. He's now got two failed candidates for the Presidency in his corner versus a twice elected Democratic president in Hillary's corner. It's not a fair fight.
First Read: Why the eff do you even bother having comments if it takes you 8 hours to post anything?
The venom with which you people malign a decent man speaks more to your characters than his.

If the fate of America is to be left in the hands of people as evil and twisted as some of the commentators on this site, then God help us.

Huckabee is not going anywhere. As long as ordinary Americans care about the future of this country, and have a few dollars and labor to give, he will be a presence in this race.

Marathoners finish the race, even if they cross the line last. Mike will compete, America will choose.

Hopefully they choose well for all our sakes.
I like Huckabee as long as he is losing. He's very funny but we don't need another clown in the White House.
HE IS A OBVIOUS GENTELMAN AND A GENUINE CHRISTAIN.
Most of those posted on this blog will in the end
miss the mark.  And few are, frow reading I see,
not civilized.
Hucksterism is nearly dead...he'll get the religious crazies vote but that and a buck will get you coffee at dennys
I really have to wonder about all these paid shills who have a lot of negative things to say about Huckabee. I've been reading more and more articles about McCain v. Romney including what people are saying in Florida about the candidaes. The major media paints each coming primary as "The Big One" but so far this year they instantly move on to the next one as soon as its done. It's clear that people have not quite yet decided who they really want to be their nominee. I hear people say that McCain is too old not just in age but in his ideas, Romney has flip-flopped so much that it is very difficult to trust him, and Giuliani is sinking like a rock after the worst primary strategy in history. That leaves a chance for Huckabee who leads in GA, AK, OK, TN, MO, and Alabama on Super Tuesday. Then there is Texas with its 140 delegates, Huckabee leads there as well. Mik Huckabee has to articulate specifics however and perhaps tout his record more, make a policy proposal, something that shows the truth about him if you are familiar with his ten and a half years as Governor, that he is much more than "Just a Baptist Preacher".
Huckabee just had his 15 minutes of fame
Romney is reviled among the Republican't candidates.  Nobody can stand the guy.  Guess Mitt's ability to buy the vote kinda sticks in their collective craws.  Who will emerge triumphant in the Sunshine State?  You the voters decide!!
In several states now, I noticed that Mike Huckabee's poll numbers dropped in the last few days before the election and that was reflected in the voting.  I don't believe voters found out something new about him or the other candidates.  I believe that they were swamped with TV and other advertising, and weak-minded voters just pulled the lever for the candidate whose name they heard the most often recently.  That is no way to elect a President of the United States.  The future of the country is at stake.
More anti-Christian, anti-southern bigotry from the Romney crowd. There's only one Liberal in the Republican race after today: Mitt Romney.

I'm voting for Mike Huckabee.
Huck for our household!  Second choice is Obama.

TJM- to which posts are you referring?  I didn't see any that were anti-Christian or anti-south.  There were some extremes, but why are those necessarily from Romney supporters?  I am neither anti Christian or anti south.  I am anti Huckabee.  There is a difference.

Phred- of course the other candidates don't like Romney- he is their chief rival.  They have thrown just as many "negative" ads and comments at him as he has at them.  They are certainly not innocent.

Opa2- your comments always make me laugh- have you been paying attention at all the last few days? McCain has proven himself to be the biggest liar in the GOP.

Robert-  I found your post intriguing.  Can you tell us where you found the stats/polls you're referring to in terms of where Huck is leading?  I'm honestly curious.  I'd like to see them. Thanks!
Notice that those who are against Governor Huckabee resort to high-school-style name-calling and other attacks. It would be more edifying if we intelligently focused on the issues. I invite you to see Mr. Huckabee's Web site, and click on Issues to see where he stands. He is the best presidential candidate I've seen in my lifetime (and I've voted in six presidential elections so far).

"It ain't over til it's over." I'm voting for Mike Huckabee, no matter what the media or the hateful bloggers say.
