Perry to endorse McCain

Posted: Thursday, January 31, 2008 1:27 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Andy Merten
As he continues to rack up high-profile Republican endorsements, John McCain today told reporters that Texas Gov. Rick Perry will endorse him this afternoon.  The brief mention of Perry, who endorsed Giuliani in October, was prompted by a reporter’s question of whether backing by Rudy and Schwarzenegger -- both who are considered moderate on many social issues -- will truly aid McCain in courting Republican votes next Tuesday.

“I could never, never, ever be anything but honored by the presence of these two great American heroes,” said the Arizona senator in reply, quickly adding that Perry, who is much more conservative on issues like abortion and gay marriage, will be backing him.

Perry’s endorsement is likely a by-product of Rudy’s dropping out of the race and supporting McCain.

@72-a few laughs-VP IMPORTANT.
He's got the RINOs and the Bush cronies locked up.  No wonder conservatives love him so much...
Rick "NAFTA Super Highway" Perry should be run out of TX along with the horse he road in on. There should be a written test before someone can claim to be a Conservative...
Did Perry know Lori Klausutis? Did McCain? Did Schwarzenegger? Does anybody remember Lori Klausutis?
or is it a dead issue.
This is a feather in McCain's cap.

Endorsements..so what..all liberals who want Washington to say the same...McCain can't carry on a logical debate, so he needs names to refer to on his cue cards!

I'll bet $1,000 he can't ride a horse anymore than cowboy george can. He and george sure know what to do with Peruvian Blue Flake, though.
McCain is running his campaign on the notion that “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” McCain was behind all kinds of dirty politics in Florida and Washington. Is that really who we want in the White House? Romney didn’t start with the negative ads. In fact he didn’t have to use any lies or twisted wording to go against McCain. He used McCain's own words and record. McCain has another political agenda in mind. Have you noticed that McCain says that he will secure the borders and then doesn't go on to say what he will do next? He has every intention to give them amnesty just like he wanted to do with Kennedy. He is surrounding himself with Democrats that he is going to have to repay in political favors. Does anyone notice that when McCain is asked a question, like he was at the debate last night about the economy, that he is not comfortable with that he does the whole name dropping thing?  If Americans vote for the three top Senators in this race(McCain, Clinton, and Obama), how is that changing America? By voting for them, you are just opening the White House doors and letting the Senators, that have been there for years, walk right back in. They are the reason America is so messed up in the first place.  Why would you send them back? Gov. Huckabee, please get out of the race. McCain is not a conservative like you are. You can’t possibly want liberialism in the white house. If you did, you wouldn’t have run. Do the right thing, just because it is the right thing to do.  Get behind somebody who is honest and knows what he’s talking about. Huckabee and Paul are wonderful men, but everyone knows that a vote for them is a vote for McCain. Let this race be about what you know, not who you know. Vote Romney!
I love all the Perry opponents talking as if they have the majority opinion... Hardy har
Dave in Denton, get real. Our objective here is not to be as Republican as we possibly can. This is chess. Primary candidates are pieces on a board, and the two kings are the nominees. In the end, in November, there will only be Red versus Blue. So why don't you and all the other Romney/Huckabee types buck up and realize that independents and democrats will NOT vote for a mormon CEO or a preacher who doesn't even know how to spell the word "backbone."

Do I like it that way? Hell no. BUT it's reality. Because Congress will not care who the President is, just what party he (no, not he or she) will belong to.
Guess that Bracewell Giuliani money went just so far for Rick Perry. Oh, well, thanks to Rudy's legal aid, he can try to name the Rudolph Giuliani Trans Texas Corridor some day.
Tsk Tsk: known fact, stupid people breed faster than the intellegent ones. their votes and minds are easlily bought with baubles and promises that those that work harder and earn more should support those that don't. It is the old story of the Grasshopper and the Ant, Grasshopper.
Did you catch what Romney said in the debate last night, mentioning that something like 80% of the govt's money is going into entitlement programs such as social security??  That's HUGE!  We need a brilliant man who has experience in this area to get the nation's finances back on track.

Hang in there, Romney!!  This is one Californian who can't wait to get a chance to vote for you!
