Clinton 'talking points' memo

Posted: Tuesday, February 05, 2008 7:29 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Mark Murray
The Clinton campaign just sent "talking points" to its national press list -- the first time we believe they have done this.

TALKING POINTS
February 5, 2008
SUPER TUESDAY TALKING POINTS

SUPER TUESDAY
We're excited by what we're seeing.
We have 21 states that are still outstanding where we expect to pick up a significant number of new delegates.
To be sure, both campaigns have a long night ahead of them - but we feel very good about the numbers that we're seeing.
It's very important that people in the states where the polls are still open get out and vote.

GEORGIA
Unlike the Obama campaign, the Clinton campaign never dedicated significant resources to Georgia.
Sen. Obama spent over $500,000 dollars on ads on television and radio; we never went up on TV
The Obama campaign has 9 offices in Georgia. The Clinton campaign only has 2.
Sen. Obama has had staff and significant campaign operation across the state for 8 months. Sen. Clinton only deployed staff to the state in the last couple of weeks.
Polls have consistently showed Sen. Obama with wide lead over Sen Clinton. That lead has only widened over time.

Why is the fact that Obama's lead in Georgia widened over time a 'talking point' for the Clinton campaign?
Despite their spin, Clinton was winning in Georgia in December.
The fact that Obama won today so convincingly is quite remarkable.  But he'll need every vote he can muster to win California.
Okay Hillary... Whatever gets you through this round.
Spin, Spin, Spin.....

I hope we see another 20 or so spin letters like this one.   I'm sure that she has them ready.

A very timely talking point seeing as how NBC just projected Obama the winner in Georgia.

It's just silly and it's early spin.

So Georgia doesn't count just like Iowa and SC. What a way to thank the people who campaigned and voted for you
Please First Read, do not mistake "EXCUSES" for Talking Points. Hillary Clinton got routed in Gerogia.
Is this fun little election at http://drinksfoodandfun.blogspot.com/ foreshadowing what we will see all evening?? So far, Obama has an enormous lead over Clinton and Huckabee is surprisingly neck and neck with McCain. Check out all the results and place your vote now!
I wish someone would talk about the reason Obama has moved up amoung whites.  As a white male I was absolutely moved by his acceptance speech in SC.  It brought tears.  I am 42 and I thought finally I believe this country will elect its first Black President.
Smells like desperation...
Can I ask a question? Why is it a talking point for a Democratic campaign to basically say another Democratic campaign had better resources, more offices and a better organization?
Wow. This looks like another Obama routing of Clinton.  Don't let up fellow Obama supporters because we're going to need every vote to seize the nomination.  We're off to a good start.
Here's a memo to put out: "Hillary leaves the country never to return!"
Hillary,Hillary,Hillary---you poor girl.
Why does MSNBC have the national graphic showing FL and MI as Clinton wins along with NH and NV?  Is this a way to influence the late voting in CA etc?
Tom, don't see Barack as the first Black President.
Think of him as the first president who has the support of the American people. If it never happens again in our life time, I'm 54,we,Americans are just that Americans, who happen to be of different origins.
Only difference is this feeling is not bought upon because of us being attacted. It feels this way because we have a person (OK of color) who unifies America. All of us. Thanks for sharing.
the good part is that at the end of the night, we'll know who actually won..
Sounds like something Karl Rove would distribute.
The Clinton camp will trumpet HUGE wins over Obama while dismissing their losses elsewhere. America,  end the Bush/Clinton monorachy before it is too late!
Sound like the talking point is that the election will be decided by who spends the most money on ads and who has the most offices. That sure is uplifting -- not.  Please, no more such un-inspirational thoughts.
Clinton and Obama have both taken the specifics that Joe Biden tried to talk about, and used them as their own... They are BOTH Second Choice for me....
