WOW!!!!  HILLARY Takes California --The Big One!!  YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!
maybe this will be as good of a call as the AP's call of Missouri for Clinton...
this is awfully early to call... Even MO hasn't been conclusively won yet by either party... so how can MSnbc call Cali with only 15% of the votes in???
It's too early, come on ben.
Had Clinton lost this state, it would have been a MASSIVE disaster.  This is hardly news out here.  She had ALL the advantages.  For the candidate who was considered the hands-down inevitable winner to have already lost 11 states is a huge loss for her tonight.

If you watched CNN it was explained in MO that although HRC was ahead BO was winning by 70-30 in St Louis and Kansas City.  These precincts were very slow in counting votes so they couldn't call the state.  In CA they are projecting based on the precincts counted and the exit polls (Again on the CNN web site you can see that HRC is winning the Latino vote by 65-35)....don't watch MSNBC it's become the FOX news of the BO campaign

ALL the news organizations have called California for Clinton - not just MSNBC - and they can do it because Hillary's margin over Obama must be in the double digits to be able to call it already! So much for Oprah, Caroline and lock-jaw Shriver's endorsements!

Voters are smarter than that! GO HILLARY! '08
13 states for Obama including Missouri, 8 for Clinton with New Mexico still up for grabs. You make the call.
Plouffe said that CA aside we are 72 delegates ahead.
Latinos for hillary!!
its bedtime. Obama great run. But the democrats want a democrat. You seriously amaze me with your charisma. You are destined to do great things. I just hope my candidate, Hillary, does the right thing and picks you as he running mate. Your campaign of change is coming, a women and african american are going to take this country by storm. Change is coming and Experience is leading. Thank you, thank you, thank you both of you have broken down so many barriers, thank you thank you thank you
neither had a huge loss tonight, its ridiculous to go around saying Hillary or obama had a bad night.....

personally i think Hillary will win California, as for MO, Clinton won in the majority of counties though obama won the popular, its going to be as much of a talking point as Nevada was for Hillary
Well the air heads come out of the closet along with the immoral life stylists. But don't get too carried away! America has yet begun to speak.  Being led to slaughter like sacrificial lambs was to be excepted. What you have now will be here tomorrow only with less change in your pocket. You can't change stupid, but you can educate dumb!
One week ago, who would have thought that Obama would carry all these states?  What a huge surge he's put together, and with the money he's got and the primary schedule, the Clintons should be VERY worried.
California is a Clinton Stronghold. I'm curious to see how close Obama got. I'm really hoping the Dems do NOT nominate Hillary (i.e. Hand the Presidency and possibly Congress right over to the Republicans)
By the way, for those who continue to complain about MSNBC's coverage of Hillary - MSNBC is hardly for Barack - the only (former) candidate who had a legitimate complaint here was Edwards...the media totally ignored him.
Hey 'First Read'......how ya' gonna' "spin" this?
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT 2008!
She is now, the clear choice!
I can't believe Ca. went for Clinton.  Well there goes the country as we now know it..

MSNBC Called BO won south !!! I mean common on does south only has GA, AL.. What about AR, TN,OK which HRC won? And Now Keep hearing Chris and Keith trumpeting his points...I was a big MSNBC fan specially Hardball and Countdown but unfortunately with this bias commentry comming out of these folks has really surprised me. CNN is best for the election analysis
15% of the total is too early for a projected winner, particularly in a state with as diverse a population (and as wide a discrepany in voting patterns from county to county) as Cali. Yeah, the journalists want to wrap it up and go to bed with a story written for the morning news cycle- but with the snafu over Missouri having happened JUST NOW.....well, you hope they'd learn not to call it too quickly.

Don't get me wrong- the numbers definitely favor Clinton so far. There's a basis for the projection, obviously. But it still strikes me as irresponsible. There'd be a lot less hullabaloo over stolen elections if the media didn't rush the process to a conclusion that can easily be encapsulated in a sound bite.
Brown power beat the Oprah machine with Caroline and Maria.
Nice pay back. I am a Punjabi. Congratulations Senator from Punnjab.
Obama gives nice speeches, but he doesn't really say what he would do.  Also, most of the states he won tonight would NEVER vote for a democrat in November, but they didn't mention that.  MSNBC hates Hillary so much it makes me want her to win and I think it has that affect on alot of women.
Believe it or not it's being spun already with more Hillary bashing and more focus on what she did not win. I will never seize to be amazed at the shameless bias of the media. When Obama wins the number of states that's what they talk about, when he loses they shift to the number of delegates... Why can't just give credit where credit is due!!!!! Hillary has done very well on Super Tuesday and you know it!
The fact that Obama got 9 red states shows his ability to unite people across political parties, while it presents Hillary with a challenge that she might not be able to win in November.
Also, it is not that the Kennedys' and others' endorsements of Obama did not do anything; it is jsut that Californians hve already cast their votes long before the endorsements of the prominent Democrats.
So, Hillary supporters need to have the brains to make judgments based on logic, not impulses.
At the end of the night it will be virtually tied, and Obama will probably be winning in delegate count. This contest is far from over, and Obama's surge is far from over. The Clinton's should be worried.
Yes MSNBC you are just like Fox news, You should be ashame. Go for you hillary tonight you beat Obama on delegates and you beat the press
I think it's funny Hispanics signed their own ticket out of here by giving Ca. and Az. to Hillary. Obama has the same position on Illegal Immigration as McCain. Therefore, I will vote with Hillary myself because I along with everyone else, want something done about this mass migration and invasion into this country. Thank you Hispanics, I know you didn't know what you were doing but you have my appreciation nonetheless.
So Obama won more delegates and more states tonight and the Hillary people are still claiming victory.  They are still doing the 60's and the 70's thing right down to dropping LSD.  This race is long from over and I think that the real fighting has just been racheted up a notch.  I do know that it will be a fight to the finish.

If Barack wins the nomination, the Democratic Party will be rejuvinated but if Hillary wins, I predict that the party will be splintered and doomed in November.  I don't say this as a threat; I just sincerely believe this to be the case.  I know that there are those of you who don't understand how important the issue of this war is to the rest of us, but it is.

There are many, who really detest the Clintons but I am not one of them.  Although, I have lost a lot of respect for them after watching their conduct of this campaign, I could still support Hillary (reluctantly) if it were not for her position on this war.  But with her votes as they have been, I can never support her.

Much as I hate to admit it, her candidacy would force me to pick a third party candidate.  My wife, on the other hand, claims that she wouldn't vote for Hillary under any circumstance.

By the way California with it's 4 million absentee ballots (half of which were cast before the Iowa caucuses), is more like a Real Clear Politics summation than an election and it really should be viewed with a jaundiced eye.

In the end Barack will be the nominee, so much of this commentary is moot.  I trust that his capacity for unification will bring the party and the nation together.  As ususal, Barack's speech tonight was spell binding.

""One week ago, who would have thought that Obama would carry all these states?  What a huge surge he's put together, and with the money he's got and the primary schedule, the Clintons should be VERY worried.""

Hey Billy,
Why would he carry Ca? Are you aware there were well over 2million ballots already mailed in? How did you expect he would catch up to her 20+ percentage points? She lead him across the board in almost every state. I didn't expect him to win any, maybe one but that is it. If he even got close to her in any state it means he mounted an effective campaign in a short period of time. But, that is still far from winning. However, I do think she should be worried though. Because, again he caught up to the "Clinton Machine" in a week and that says a lot.
DELEGATES 841 to 829-834 OBAMA SLIGHTLY EDGES HILLARY IN DELEGATES TONIGHT SORRY TO RUIN YOUR CELEBRATION J MERELY STANLEY
Go.. Go.. mum.. I love you and I campaigned for this lady. She deserves to win CA and for president. Its a shame for all those who were working day and night trying so hard to take what she deserves away. They had to leave their comfport zone thinking that coz they sell books they can as well sell politics. Her winning is a clear sign that you can market books, tv, anything and be the super selling machine, but politics is all about brain and common sense.. Go Hillary, dont give up. You have a white house next year.. Love you!!!!
This was a great night, the media was so very WRONG, all that egg on so many faces, their predictions of a huge surge by obama did'nt pan out-it fizzeled, now they are trying to act like they never said it. IN states like mo. obama should have had a landslide, he campaigned hard there he had McCaskill there trying to pull votes for him and they tied.  thats a win for hillary even if it is a wash on delegates. Americans voted with their brains much to the chagrin of the media. America you rock. the red states he picked up like Idaho have only a handful of demos that live there, in a national election there are only 20,000 votes in the entire state, he can't win an election with the small amount of democratic voters in those states.  I would'nt live there if you gave me property
California is a GREAT win for Hillary Clinton!
I guess the Oprah-Caroline-Marie show didn't quite have the impact we were promised.
Seems the Kerry-Kennedy-Kennedy-Kennedy show didn't help Obama very much in MA either.
Go Obama Go! In Kansas City, MO Republicans did  fake voting for Hillary. But the scheme didn't quite work like it did in Mass. Go Obama Go!
A vote for Hillary is a vote for McCain. The Clinton wing of the Democratic party is ensuring a Republican win in November.
Wow what a tight DEM race. This reminds me of the Bush Gore fiasco. With the disenfranchised delegates in FLA and MI playing the role of the hanging chad. God forbid but it may not end until the lawyers and courts get involved
Here is what I am holding on to as I certainly don't want the divisiveness to continue and it would via the Republican attack machine if Clintons were back at 1600 Penn.  from day 1 and it would not stop.
Why would we want to have that again!

One time I read...Clinton has leveled off but Obama continues to gain votes...I am holding on to this.  I want this country to truly go in a new direction.
No more Bill, no more Hillary.  It is a repeat...nothing new.
California!!!! You go girl!

Sorry Oprah, Caroline, Teddy..
Hillary is probably the most shrill and hateful person I have ever encountered.  All of her new smile and laughter is so phony.  Look how both her and her husband acted in South Carolina, that is their true nature, win at all costs.  Awful human beings
She's got the most experience at lying, cheating, making excuses, and taking money from criminals.
Congratulations Hillary.

I love all those that said this would have spelled disaster if she hadn't won, but claim it isn't news that she did. Give me a break. She won big in CA.
J. Merle Stanley, Westchester, NY (Sent Wednesday, February 06, 2008 12:59 AM)Not over yet.

If she does win..if..I intend to support her despite your childish shouting and giggling and despite your angry vow to vote republican if Obama wins. There are others however that will reject your kind of shrill partisan nonsense in an intramural contest. That is not good for the party because if Hillary is our choice we will need every single vote to defeat the irrational people who would rise from their death beds and crawl across broken glass to vote against her.
Her electability is a huge issue.
Go Obama!
Yes We Can!
The obamamania continues on, completely ignoring the facts on the ground...he won states with huge black populations that won't matter as much when ALL voters in those states vote come November, and he won in the mountain west where white guilt ridden liberal refugees from the left and east coast go to find themselves or whatever it is that they do there...
Well, however the numbers fall, Bill took away any chance that Hilary will ever get this black woman's vote!

Bill showed his true colors by being the first to bring race into this contest, and I for one will not forget it.

Sorry Obama, this unity thing has to work both ways.

Nobody likes feeling duped and used for another's own selfish gain.

Blacks trusted you, Bill!

Now, Hilary turns to the Hispanics, to use them, with the larger population, more votes, while you, with your words, treat the Blacks that supported you all those years like insignificant, foolish believers of "fairytales".

Well, it was the Black "fairytale" hope, dream, belief and trust in you that helped carry you throughout your career, that welcomed you, and even still admired you through all of your past betrayals, only to be, ourselves, betrayed by your arrogance.

You have reopened those slow healing wounds of distrust. They are newly fresh once again and they will burn long and deep.

No, I cannot support you or Hilary this time. I may be only one vote, not missed, nor noticed, but perhaps remembered.

PLEASE...close the door behind you.
Hillary did not win big in California.  She won because of 1.2 million absentee ballots (or more) cast before the Iowa primaries.  The California primary is more like a moving RCP average than it is an election and everyone knows that; it should be modified as to when voting begins.  (There were some problems that prevented Undeclareds from voting in the LA area, but that's another story).  In any case this 'rolling primary' type of voting negated the surge that Obama experienced in the days since SC.

The NY election was a given and not an overwhelming endorsement considering that it was Hillary's 'home' state.  MA was a gap that closed from 37% to 15%.  All in all th 'mo' goes to Obama.  This race is far from over and will continue all the way to the convention.  Watch for big endorsements from Edwards and Gore in the next week.

If we want the Democrats to win in November, we only have to look at how Obama attracts Republicans and Independents in the red states.

It's all happening.  Obama '08

GO HILLARY!!!!  OHIO WILL HELP PUT HER OVER THE TOP.  CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HER HERE CAMPAIGNING. OUR VERY POPULAR GOVERNOR TED STRICKLAND IS ENDORSING HILLARY AND THAT IS A HUGE PLUS.  OBAMA IS OBVIOUSLY VERY POPULAR BUT WE NEED TESTED EXPERIENCE FOR REAL SOLUTIONS.
Californians have spokens.  We have voted for Hillary.  I'm sorry, Oprah, your concerted, narcissistuc propaganda campaign trying to get your white audience to vote for a black man over a woman wsn't successful.  While I voted based on conscience, rather than celebrity endorsement, I actually have much more respect for Maya Angelou, Quincy Jones and Barry Brazelton who backed Hillary on the basis of their close, authentic relationships with Hillary over the past several years.  Hillary has character, wisdom and integrity.  She has spent a lifetime working to further the needs of children (Children's Defense Fund, Yale Center for Child Research, legislative work in Arkansas, etc.)  Hillary has respectable friends, but she didn't pull a LA publicity stunt like Obama with Teddy, Maria and Oprah.   Hopefully women who care about children and the future of this country will be able to see Obama for the superficial candidate that he is.  If those participating in the February and March are stupid enough to fall for Obama's rhetoric of "change" they will have only themselves to blame if he's elected.
