Ingraham rips McCain

Posted: Thursday, February 07, 2008 12:47 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
In her introduction of Romney at CPAC, talk-radio host Laura Ingraham ripped McCain. She said of the three remaining Republican candidates, she's glad to introduce "the conservative." She said it's about "what you've done for us lately" (read: not in the 80s when you claim to have been a foot soldier for Ronald Reagan). She then added, Let's all "calm down" for Mitt Romney -- mockingly parroting McCain's language yesterday.

It's an interesting tack as Romney is reportedly set to drop his presidential bid.

Laura was right on the money...
John McCain really has his work cut out for him....

Like I've said, he needs to give a speech that equals Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech to make the conservatives follow him.....
REPUBLICAN LOSERS. THANKS G.W.B. !
MSNBC's shameless water carrying support of Obama is backfiring in the ratings.  They were once on the move to become the number one cable news network. A few months agao, I loved the network, but now they have become Fox.   The ratings for Super Tuesday were as follows, 1)CNN 2)Fox 3)MSNBC.  Now because of their bias reporting for Obama, their ratings are tanking.  I think the over exposure of Obama in the media will have a backlash in the election.  I hope it's only in the Primary and not during the General if he get's the election. Me and other Hillary supporters warned MSNBC they would lose ratings if they didn't start covering the election fairly and it seems we were right.  I hope the backlash continues and PBS beats them in the next ratings.  It doesn't matter who you support in the election, we all want unbiased reporting. By the way, Hillary raises 4 million the day after the polls closed and Obama raised 3 million the day after the polls closed, but you didn't hear about that until today, where as they reported Obama's money all day yesterday.  Keep it up MSNBC, I'm going to donate again to Hillary right now, just because MSNBC sucks.
Leave it to the Republicans to be able to eat their own so pithily.

The conservative disdain for McCain is peculiar. It's not like he's Michael Dukakis. He's put together a 25 year career where he's voted with his party 85% of the time. Republicans need only look at what Romney did *last year* to give them considerable pause that he is a true conservative.

Republicans should give thought to whether they want to win this election (my sense is that some of them actually do not).
That Laura Ingraham offically appeared and spoke at CPAC discredits it immediately(as if it needed help).  Romney doesn't even have the conviction to end his campaign- he decided to 'suspend' it.  Getting out now saves him a little embarassment which would have come losing to Huckabee and McCain, but it won't stop him from coming back in 2012.  I watched him weasel his way into the leadership of Massachusetts government years back and his deception shouldn't be overestimated.  He'll be back, hopefully to lose again.
Unlike liberals, conservatives call a spade, a spade. Everyone knows what McCain is, a liberal that happens to be a Republican. No sense trying to say otherwise. As for liberals, you never hear any of the networks or cable channels call Clinton or Obama liberals. Every wonder why?
Laura can be so junior high.

Guess it's not okay to disagree with her, Rush, Sean, Colter and the other drama queens.
How about when Mitt Romney was running to the left of Ted Kennedy, voting for Paul Tsongas and running away from Ronald Reagan. Oh, I forgot, Romney is now the second coming of Reagan.
Good for Laura. She's never been one to pull punches.
Maybe the republicans are as stupid as some democrats are turning out to be.  If Clinton is nominated, McCain is the only Republican who can firmly beating her.

If the democrats don't turn out to be so naive, the Republicans are going to have one heck of a hard time with Obama.  The Clinton machine's done it's vetting of Obama, and all they can come up with is some drug use Obama himself admitted over 5 years ago, and a weak tie to Rezko with zero favors from Obama to show for it.

The Clintons on the other hand, there's a mountain of new trash piling up that Obama is too classy to harp on. We haven't heard about the Clinton Library donors in months, the Clintons problems with governmental transparency, the ethics reform bill Clinton voted against (which passed 80-20).  Clinton constantly loses to McCain in general election surveys, whereas Obama constantly wins.

Wake up democrats, it's time we nominate a president!
What he's hoping here is that McCain loses this year, and he's trying to appeal to these conservatives, this concession speech sounds more like a stump speech, at CPAC, so that he could be the frontrunner and the choice of the conservatives in 2012. He's trying to model himself like Reagan '76, who lost in '76 but won in 1980. He even just mentioned 1976. I thought this is what he would do now that McCain has gotten ahead. Politically, its the smartest thing to do, he's in a better setup for 2012.
I'm a Reaganite.  I make no apologies for it.  I'm furious with the so-called "foot soldiers" of Reagan who attack McCain.  Ronald Reagan lived by one political commandment: never speak ill of fellow Republicans.  Laura Ingraham's words today at CPAC along with the thinly veiled remarks by the former Governor of Massachusetts are an anathema to the memory and philosophy of Ronald Reagan.

As a resident of Massachusetts, I saw Mitt Romney's inaction.  He was rarely in office at the State House.  The stark reality is that Mr. Romney came blowing into Massachusetts and usurped the Governor’s seat for one goal: to be President.  He did nothing spectacular as Governor.  He was a hard man to seek out at the State House.  The truth is that his own Lieutenant Governor was in charge of the Commonwealth the majority of the time.

I wish Nancy Reagan would break her silence.  Somehow words from Mrs. Reagan are in order because these carpetbaggers invoke the memory of Reagan as if they owned his soul.  Reagan was a conciliator.  He was a realist.  He knew that in order to accomplish great things in America one had to cross the aisle in the spirit of compromise to make great things happen.

Nancy, America needs you now more than ever.  Mrs. Reagan, YOU are the only person alive in America who has earned the right to invoke the memory of your husband.  Come forward and let us know how you feel and how the President would have felt about the back biting, hate mongering and deal making going on behind the scenes in the Grand Old Party.

Guess it's not okay to disagree with her, Rush, Sean, Colter and the other drama queens.

I'd disagree with important liberal talk radio hosts, but I don't know any.
Ingraham-It looks now that you and the other phonies like druggy Limbaugh either have to stay home and step aside to allow the Democrats to clean up the mess that you so-called conservatives have done to this country. You individuals are all about hate, greed and power. Ingraham and Coulter (blond rhymes with witches) and the pimps (O'Reilly) rail against elitists who are basically THEM! You mouthpieces need to finally realize you reap what you sow.
This lady lacks of any class....She can't even deliver a speech properly......
The party has gone bonkers on the notion that only a conservative can be a good republican, that is why there are so many more independents out there now, most of the independents came from the republican party when there became more litmus tests on who or what is the best kind of republican.
The tent gets smaller and the votes get fewer, not a good way to gain support in my book. Wake up sleepy Whig party and move over the republican party is making itself less of a political power. GWB has given the democratic party a great deal of support by being himself, better pick candidates with more know how and less ideology.
GREAT TIMING, LAURA!!! Please, please, PLEASE say there was a camera there to catch the look on her face when the Mittster bowed out?!?
How does it feel to diss the last man standing, Doc?
This sure beats the worship services the left wing media has for Barack and Hillary.
Sally of Oklahoma- I am so sick of individuals who resorts to juvenile labeling because of corrupt politicians MOSTLY Republicans who have throughout the years used that lame Liberal vs Conservative to put a wedge and to successfully paint the former as hedonistic, tax and spend, welfare mothers and the latter as church going, family values and pro-life. Conservatives love to espouse sriptures;however; GOP love to cut funding for the poor and elderly, school lunch program, environmental laws, tax breaks for corporate polluters and send young men/women to death in a war based on lies. You are all cafeteria Republicans; for capital punishment, against abortion, against tax increases but will go along with capital gains tax, for strong defense but almost sold-out our port safety to Dubai. If the state of our country was not in such dire need of rescue; it would be laughable; but it looks like the only rational thing is refrain from such petty labeling. Yeah, right, never going to happen.
Some Repubs believe that liberal leadership will harm the country (econoics, military etc) they would rather liberal Dems not Repubs lead that way. This is the reason for the lack of support for McCain. Also a Dem President will fuel listeners to talk radio. Contraversey sells on the right and left!!
poor mrs romney all teared up-------lets call it sobbing hystericly like they would if it was Hillary-----Somebdy get that woman a kleenix.
clintons unsavory connections will come into play now, her and bill's experience in arm twisting and corrupt political shenanigans is unmatched, they will do what ever it takes regardless of legality or what's right to further their dynasty, their lust for wealth and power always trumps fair play, couple this with the fact that the republicans are salivating for a hillary nomination, because they know they can beat her in the general, and you have a situation that is sure to become very ugly and dishonest, with the american citizens wishes tossed to the curb
Once again, this shows that rightwing talk radio is being marginalized. The average American - Dem or Repub - is tired of the divisive and nasty rhetoric from 'radio people'.
Funny how repukes use the word liberal as though its a four letter word...its a compliment...better than being a backwards war mongering idol worshipping sister marrying conserva-nut!

Lee Holmes from yesterday [[Garbage. ''common dreams''is a leftwinged website which typically shills for George Soros. Expect no veritas from the likes of these. ]]

It is a fact that John McCain's life was saved by a Vietnamese civilian named Mai Van On. It is a fact that McCain broke under torture and made false "confessions" to his North Vietnamese interrogators. There is absolutely nothing dishonorable about any of that except the fact that McCain lets his campaign operatives and the news media avoid acknowledging these facts. That is a lie of omission, and it _is_ dishonorable.

Lee Holmes complains  that these facts aren't facts because they were published by Common Dreams, a progressive web site that was run by "aging Marxists."  Ignoring that it is a McCarthyite lie to call Common Dreams a Marxist web site,  Common Dreams didn't even have anything to do with the article other than reprinting it. It was written by Ted Rall, a syndicated editorial cartoonist and author, who has absolutely nothing to do with Common Dreams.

Here's the link to Rall's original article:

http://www.uexpress.com/tedrall/

Here's a link to an article on Mr. Van On saving McCain from 1997  so this is clearly not some "swift boat" attack on McCain:
http://archive.southcoasttoday.com/daily/05-97/05-10-97/a12wn060.htm

Or maybe Holmes thinks the evil Hillary Clinton planted this story way back in 1997 to use it against him in 2008. Those Clintons, they'll do anything!

Only lying liars of the whacko rightwing  believe that facts ought to be ignored just because they don't like them and they're printed on a "liberal" web site. As Steven Colbert has observed, facts have a liberal bias. Ted Rall is telling the truth. Lee Holmes is not.
Typical.  Out of Touch Republican.

She introduces the guy and he quits.

That is hilarious!  Talk about dissary.

Bye-Bye Conservatives.
Ron TX [[Maybe the republicans are as stupid as some democrats are turning out to be.  If Clinton is nominated, McCain is the only Republican who can firmly beating her. ]]

I prefer Obama over Clinton, too. But I wouldn't go around bashing Clinton supporters to the point where they'll not vote for Obama if he wins the nomination. Same goes for Clinton people bashing Obama and his supporters. It's more important that McBomb and bhis Hundred Years War are defeated than which Democratic candidate defeats hmi.
Sally, what do you mean a spade? Can you be more forward about that word please and where it originates from...since you're so open and honest.
McCain is more of a Reagan conservative then Romney or any of the so called talking heads(Hannity, Limbaugh, Ingraham, Coulter, etc).  Their type of conservatives can not and will not win an election.  They are responsible for the loss of the congress in the last election.  Between all of them, talk show conservatives, they have a few million listeners, which is a drop in the bucket.  No one appointed them to be our spokespersons.
Poor Mitt. He gave a great speech today. It's to bad for him that he couldn't convince conservative voters that he was what he said he was. Mitt is the type of guy that will say whatever he thinks will get him elected. If illegal immigration was popular he'd be driving them across the border himself.
HUCKABEE/HUNTER 2008! CONSERVATIVE DREAM TEAM!!!

No actually, that's YOUR agenda.  My vote will either go to Obama, or to McCain.  I would MUCH rather it go to Obama.  But, I will no longer vote for corrupt leadership.  The polls agree with me.  Obama firmly beats McCain in the polls.  Clinton does not.  So speak for yourself.
Ron Paul is the only Conservative running, check his record. I knew the Mitster would quit because he is a quitter and every morning he looks in the mirror he will see a quitter, I can not wait for the Republican debate, In on one side an angry little troll of a man John McShame, Then there is Mikey Huckeyboy, with a bible in one hand and a bass in the other leading the down trodden from the south to a better life in the NorthAmericanUnion. Ron Paul is going to wipe the floor with these two and America will see RonPaul 08

Rall was the one who, inventing a singular source, swept the blogosphere when,in a piece he did for CAPITOL HILL BLUE several years ago, accused the president of stating that ''The Constitution is just a goddamned piece of paper'',without authentication of his quotes. To the extant minute, neither the ANNENBERG PROJECTS Factcheck[www.factcheck.org] nor the Urban Legends Referance Pages[www.snopes.com],will attach any authenticity whatever to Ralls quotes.
Rall is a crummy paltroon who engages in jackboot journalism and is yet another, who is in no way to be trusted. You forget about the law of threes in journalism. one primary, one secondary, and one independant source, with names, dates, and places. Neither your lousy ''common dreams'' nor Rall even bother to adhere to even this simple law which renders all that they do suspect, unless it be for the benefit of their ideological allies.[thus the audience will instantly observe that not once do I use sources from a ''Free Republic'' or a ''Rush Limbaugh Newsletter'',or a ''NEWSMAX''],else I suffer the same fate as Houston.

juan, great post. You can never convince the the "conservs" that they are mean and stingy. Sorry
you are right it is impossible NOT to point out the error of all our ways!  LOL
Ron TX [[ My vote will either go to Obama, or to McCain.  I would MUCH rather it go to Obama.  But, I will no longer vote for corrupt leadership.  The polls agree with me.  Obama firmly beats McCain in the polls.  Clinton does not.  So speak for yourself. ]]

Obviously, I was speaking for myself, since I wasn't posting under your name. If you want to vote for McCain, that's your problem. If McCain wins, it's everyone's problem. I don't trust Clinton's commitment to getting the US out of Iraq, but she's a lot less likely to start a brand new crackpot war with Iran than McBomb is. And she wouldn't pack the Supreme Court with more "justices" who always rule in favor of corporations and against citizens. McCain, is trying to weasel his way out of explaining his "liberal" votes against Bush tax cuts and for sponsoring bills with Democrats. He kissed up to Jerry Fallwell after having called the very same preacher an "agent of intolerance" 8 years ago. He is as bad a flip-flopper as Romney and he'll say whatever the extremists in the Republican party want him to say to get elected. And he'll be in their pocket if he wins.
So let me get tis straight; Lush Rimjob, the Oxymoron, would rather Hillary (he assumes, making an ass out of him and himself)win, so the pendulum will swing back again to conservatives. I thought we were America, not a bi-polar disorder. Since when did this country model its politics after Brittany Spears?
The term ''to call a spade a spade''is devoid of racial overtones. It's earliest usage can be applied to the philosopher Plutarch,at about 178 BC when criticizing the Macedonians,''who hath not the wit to call a spade a spade''.[or,be honest in their view of things and persons or realities].
Like I've said, he needs to give a speech that equals Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech to make the conservatives follow him.....

How about a "shining city on a hill"
or maybe "a thousand points of light"
or maybe "I'm a uniter not a divider"
Lee Holmes [[You do not get props for setting yourself up like a rubber duck in a 50-gallon drum surrounded by shotgun toting hunters. Your ''piece''is just such an instance.]]

Everything Rall said in his article is _verifiable_ from independent sources as I demontrated regarding McCain's rescue by a Vietnamese civilian. This is the exact_opposite_ of the swift-boat liars, who were exposed as frauds and who's every accusation about John Kerry was proved to be a lie.

You're ranting and name-calling and false accusations of "Marxism" can't change the truth, as much as you may hate it.

[[thus the audience will instantly observe that not once do I use sources from a ''Free Republic'' or a ''Rush Limbaugh Newsletter'',or a ''NEWSMAX''],else I suffer the same fate as Houston. ]]

No, you just make stuff up, like accusing people of being "Marxists."
HP Boston: Not with the Democrats running the show anyway. Pelosi has just sent earmark reform down to defeat, which means that more of your dough will not go the ''school lunch programs''but to Liberace museums in Vegas, teapot museums in Ohio, and a chunk of Max Yasgars alfalfa farm near Bethel,New York in a place dubbed ''Woodstock''. The top porker in America? Democrat Rep. Jack Murtha of Pennsylvania.

A spade is a type of shovel. Generally used to bury liberals.

Hope this helps.
One only needs to read Ingraham's books to see that she has no right to criticize anyone in that regard.
Ingraham, Sean, Rush, Colter...they've been a little down in cash lately. They were rich with a democrat in the White House. This is so transparent...it's all about money. They can't wait to get the Clintons back to boost their monetary fortunes. Unfortunately for them, it looks like Clinton is out of money too. Oh well, maybe they can make a new fortune with Obama in power.
Lee Holmes [[Rall was the one who, inventing a singular source, swept the blogosphere when,in a piece he did for CAPITOL HILL BLUE several years ago, accused the president of stating that ''The Constitution is just a goddamned piece of paper'',without authentication of his quotes.]]

Turns out Holmes is making this up, too. The Capitol Hill Blue article was NOT written by Rall, it was written by Doug Thompson, just like it says here:
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_7779.shtml

You can't bury the truth under a pack of lies, Holmes. Everything in Rall's article was the absolute truth. Heck, it's even easy to find photos of McCain with the Vietnamese guy who saved his life on the net, although the fact that McCain owes his life to a Vietnamese guy gets omitted from the political ads and the media puff pieces on McCain.

It is also true that McCain broke under torture is also true. Rall is a reliable source. Lee Holmes is not.

That is hilarious!  Talk about dissary.

Greg R., Spokane, WA (Sent Thursday, February 07, 2008 2:03 PM)

Disarray? For the Republicans?

So, who's the Democratic nominee for president?

I cannot wait to see Laura Ingraham do her Hillary for President commercial with Bubba. That will be the funniest thing on TV this year.
Lee Holmes said: "Ted Rall, yet another contributor to ''common dreams''is a journalist who pens lies for CAPITOL HILL BLUE, yet another of these species of leftwinged rags."

First, Capital Hill Blue is hardly a left wing rag - it was started by a former Republican operative.  Second, you don't have to depend on Ted Rall's info regarding McCain's traitorous actions in Vietnam.  Just go to this RIGHT-wing site and read for yourself - http://www.usvetdsp.com/.
Houston: Then if it is as you say, bring forth your ''independant sources''. Get cracking. I have not all day.
Pete: And I am to trust the rightwinged sources any more than I am the leftist ones? You forget that NEWSWEEK,The Washington Post, and the New York Times were all once considered,''conservative''. No longer. As these evolved into media arenas peddling distrust,so too did BLUE.[as it stands,Rall invented quotes which are not respected by independant critique,as just two of my websites acknowlage].You who condemn Swiftboating, are engaging in it yourselves. Hypocrite. Remove Thy Mote.
