Explanation for the canceled meeting

From NBC's Mark Murray
Per the Obama campaign, the reason behind the cancellation of tonight's Obama-Edwards meeting is purely a scheduling conflict -- and that both camps are working to reschedule.

I bet MSNBC was freaking out about the meeting being canceled. MSNBC is sooo in love with Obama and I just don't see his apeel.
Apparently all media is in love with Obama. However, none of the Hillary supporters complain when Hillary articles are posted.  Look at the Archives for MSNBC please: Clinton (377) Obama (332). Seems to side Hillary more than Obama.
No, it is not a schedule conflict.  Rather it is a strategic move by the Obama camp.  It would be risky for Obama to meet Edwards today if Edward decides to endorse Senator Clinton TODAY after meeting with Obama.

Since nobody knows who Edwards will endorse, it would be wise for the Obama camp to strategically reschedule the meeting AFTER tomorrow's Potomac election.
Scheduling conflict (read Edwards doesn't want to meet with someone who lies about taking money from lobbyists).

And you spelled appeal wrong.

Some things have to be believed to be seen.
Ha!

To those who just got done jumping to conclusions.  Haven't we learned this campaign season?  I must admit that it does seem like J. Edwards is playing games, and I had never found him to be a person of integrity.  At least Clinton does not claim to be above politics, I know what to expect from her.  But for Clinton's and Obama's and Fmr. Sen. Edwards' sakes, I'll continue to give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.
Potomac Primary wins - check!
Edwards Endorsement - check
Wisconsin primary win - moooo!
Hawaii victory - hang ten!

HRC's supporters sense that their pathetic loser candidate is finished...maybe she can marry Obama and get some more 'experience'...lol
Well - the thing is, most of Edwards campaign chairs have already switched to Obama.  His online groups  have switched to Obama.  His unions have switched to Obama...  So, here's a case of someone waiting so long they make themselves irrelevant.  I don't get it - Edwards could be Obama's AG and get EVERYTHING done that he has been stumping for under Obama's transparent, lobbyist free administration - and yet he's not lending his support?

An endorsement of Clinton would mean that all the talk about lobbyists was just talk.  I donated to Edwards campaign and supported him, but endorsing Clinton would mean he wasn't the candidate his supporters thought he was.

Same goes for Gore - now is the time.  He should be Obama's director of the EPA... and Edwards the AG - and Hillary can be Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Its good the meeting is cancelled. This would have been a huge embarassment for Obama. Edwards long made his endorsement, and its Hillary. How else can you explain his faiure to have done so soon after he suspended his campaign.
Hello Patty, could it be that he is black and he is not a woman? If you REALLY looked at the issues and see what he stands for (honesty, integrity, unity) you WOULD see his appeal.  Notice how he hasn't brought up any of the scandals of the Clinton era?? It's because he is on a more grown up level than that and will not resort to tearing people down (doing ANYTHING to win).  T

ANNOUNCING HILLIARY CANT GET YOUR VOTES BUT YOU CAN GET HERS THAT IS AS PERSONAL AS IT COMES SEE YOU IN THE MACAIN CAMP,ENJOY,cause as a centrist I would rather see the middle duke it out than the fringe of the dems against the center of the puckers
Muzhik - I think you might be getting a little ahead of yourself with the predictions. Clinton most certainly isn't out of it. She's currently leading in Wisconsin, and let's get through tomorrow's races before we call them. We all should have learned that lesson by now.

I will acknowledge that its looking like Obama has a better chance at the nomination than does Clinton, at this point in time - and as an Obama supporter I'm pretty satisfied with that. But momentum is funny. If Clinton pulls a surprise in the Potomac Primary (note - not Chesapeake Tuesday! lol), then it might start shifting back to her.

Its still a race up for grabs, as indicated by the close delegate counts.
OBAMAS SPIN IS IN
Perhaps it got rescheduled because someone is doing background on Obama.  Wake up Obama supporters he has not been truthful about his past.  Go do some searches and see what your canadate has really done in his life.  We all have good and bad so lets see the other side.

Tucker Carlson of MSNBC has called Pastor Wright a total hater and wondered why the ties that bind Obama to Wright have not been given greater scrutiny. Mickey Kaus of Slate has also wondered when the ties between Obama and Wright will receive more criticism, given Wright's seeming bigotry, which is in contrast to the soothing melody of unity that Obama has trumpeted on the campaign trail.

Some in the media have taken notice. The New York Times did have one front-page article on Wright by Jodi Kantor in which Wright was quoted as saying that should more information come to light about himself, "a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell". After the article came out Wright attacked Jodi Kantor, referring to her Jewish heritage in a way that might create discomfort.

This fear is why Pastor Wright was disinvited at the last minute from appearing with Obama when Obama announced his run for the Presidency. Wright admitted in a PBS interview that he understands this distancing from the Obama campaign since "he can't afford the Jewish support to wane or start questioning his allegiance to the Israel"

Wright has been disappeared by the campaign; Obama has replaced him with high profile white ministers who do not preach the racial exclusiveness and racial superiority that is a hallmark of Jeremiah Wright; however, they seem to share an anti-Israel bias.

Fortunately, bloggers and others have started to note the views of Pastor Wright (which also include an unhealthy does of racial exclusiveness, in Tucker Carlson's words)  and     . Finally these views may be crossing over to major media outlets. Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen published a recent column that criticized the award to Louis Farrakhan of the Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award -- an award that supposedly was granted to a man who "truly epitomized greatness". As Cohen noted, Farrakhan is not only a race-baiter but also an anti-Semite and a promoter of anti-Semitism. He falsely accused Jews of cooperating with Hitler and helping him create the Third Reich, has slandered Jews by his insistence that Jews have played an inordinate role in victimizing African-Americans (he has also called Jews "bloodsuckers"). Cohen questions why Obama has stayed steadfast in his allegiance to Pastor Wright over the years.

Obama has called Wright his spiritual mentor, his moral compass and his sounding board. He was the man who gave Obama the term, "The Audacity of Hope" after all. He was also the man who told Obama that there are more black men in prison then in colleges -- a statement that Obama parroted until he was told that it was false. What other "facts" has Wright taught Obama? Has he taught Obama to blame 9/11 on America because of our foreign policy?

The above is from an article by Ed Lasky and can be viewed at:

MSNBC has not covered much of his history as they prefer to just act like he is a gift from God.  I for one wonder why there is never anything not pro Obama and they just seem to thrive on bashing the Clintons.  They know about his history and choose not to tell anything real about him.  Remember people that MSNBC is really republican donimated and they promoted Bush so what does that say about them?  They really want Obama so they can get McCain elected to office.
Some of you are hilarious!  If Edwards was going to endorse Hillary, he'd have done that and there would be no meeting.  There's no reason for Obama to meet w/ Edwards AFTER the endorsement!  Geez!

Do you Clinton people really expect to get Edwards' endorsement?  I'd be stunned to see it happen.  She is the status quo that he's been railing against for years.  She has taken tens of millions of $$$ from lobbyists.  He's been railing against that as well.

Maybe she's so desperate that she'll promise him the VP slot to get the endorsement but, short of that, I'd be surprised if it happened.  He may endorse no one but I can't imagine he'll endorse Hillary w/o the promise of a VP slot or high level cabinet position.

I'll take Obama at his word. My guess is nothing was going to come out of Edwards till Wednesday at the earliest. Now they can meet Wednesday and any endorsement would come after that with both campaigns setting their sights on Texas and Ohio after.

Most of Edwards' supporters have gone to Obama. I can't see him going to Clinton. She is so tied in with lobbyists and the giant corporations he's railed against for a long, long time now that to support it would make him a larger flip flopper than even John Kerry.

This is not church. I am not voting for a preacher. I want a President.

Another possible scenario is that they are waiting until after Tuesday so that the Obama endorsement dominates a media cycle later this week.  I'd give a Hillary endorsement 25% chance and an Obama endorsement 75%, especially given the comments made by Edwards' former campaign staff.
CHUCK THE WAY OBAMA USURPED EDWARDS WORDS AND CAMPAIGN IM SURPRISED THERE IS ANYTHING LEFT BUT A HAIRCUT OBAMA COULDNT USE>
Why do people believe that it is something other than what they say it is?  It is possible, although I think it unlikely, that Edwards plans on either not endorsing either one or plans on endorsing Clinton.  Even if there was the idea that Edwards is going endorse one over the other, there is the idea to give them both a chance to make their case.
Again, I ask all of you knee jerk gossip lovers to stop with the irrational reactions and let the process play itself out. Edwards hasn't, isn't and won't endorse Hillary. He ran his campaign against everything ahe stands for. He's doing Barack a favor by distracting Hillary at a time when she's getting beat all over the map. Trust Me. I know.
Interesting - because the Times is reporting that they held off on the meeting because the press attention was too intense...
Politico.com is having a live interview with both Hillary and Obama, in conjunction with ABC Channel 7, at 7PM tonight in Washington, DC - maybe this was the scheduling conflict.
JUDGING FROM THE CDOMMENTS, A LOT OIF PEOPLE SUFFER FROM CONGENITAL CYNICISM. Or just plain too much time on their hands.
Did anyone stop to think that last time he had a significant change in schedule it was to announce Elizabeths cancer had returned?  Maybe it is personal reasons they had to reschedule.  Give him a break.
People, think about this please. Let's assume we nominate Hillary Clinton and she wins the Presidency. Your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will look at the history books and wonder what we were thinking, (Bush - Clinton - Bush - Clinton). Like so many 30 something Americans, I have never been able to vote in a Presedential Election without a Clinton or Bush on one of the ballots. It's getting to be re-god-damn-diculous. How can you say you stand for a government that represents the will of it's people in a form of democracy envisioned by the likes of Thomas Jefferson and John Locke, when we are treating it like a feudalistic monarchy. This is not the intention of democracy and for that alone we should vote for someone, anyone new. I like the Clinton's, I really do, but this is not how we are supposed to do things in this country, and they had their turn. We need to take our chances with the future.

We are to blame for the polarization of our politics and the corruption of our politicians, not the government or the people we elect. It is our fault for not being good stewards of the power our Constitution has afforded us as a people.

I like Barak, I admit, it, but not just because he inspires me, but because I know he can win and I don't believe Hillary can. I think the republican machine has ten file cabinets full of dirt on Hillary and Bill, and maybe a drawer or two on Barak.

Plus, I want Barak to win because at least there is a chance, no matter how small, that he might be one of the few politicians who really does mean what he says. With Bill and Hillary we've been there and done that.

But the number one reason to vote for Barak, is to restore the people's faith in our ability to be the good stewards of democracy that is required of us as citizens. And what Barak says is true, 'We are the change we have been waiting for". Things won't change unless we make it change. First things first, let's get a new family in the whitehouse.
Edwards is becoming more and more irrelevant.  If anything he should have endorsed Obama prior to Feb. 5th.  Many Edwards former supporters are now supporting Obama.  If Edwards endorses Hillary, all that talk about corporate-interest ruling Washington, Hillary being the agent of "status-quo", and Hillary being a double-talker would have meant nothing.  Edwards would have betrayed many of the ideas he pushed during his campaign which would damage his creditability.
Johnson from LA THat tally is LIFETIME   before we ever heard of obama   so there
It is so bogus to say Obama does not trash talk hillary. How does he say it, dump truck loads of dirt on hillary. How much more personal does it get. I can not believe how quickly people have forgot how good the 1990's were. Does anybody remember the surplus we had in social security when Clinton left office.
Johnson, yes, just look at those posts.  More for Hillary, but very few are positive. It helps to actually read them.  If there is a positive post concerning Hillary Clinton, it is usually 2 lines that she got an endorsement or won which state and if it is longer than that, they always tack on some nasty or embarassing little tidbit trying to diminish the good.
MSNBC used to be my favorite news channel as they were fairly balanced.  Their so obviously slanted coverage of this race has sent me more and more to CNN for at least a little more balanced reporting.  The media has been in love with Obama since he started because they wanted this race interesting and it's all about ratings, isn't it.  I don't think they care that they're actually messing with our lives.  They don't care that some of us out here truly need that universal health care, or that the economy is tanking.  They have nice cushy jobs, they'd just rather see how much power they have in getting this guy elected.
Who cares how inexperienced he is, or that he obviously has no real in-depth knowledge or plans that are ready to be put forth (that's not just an opinion, that's fact by experts examining his "plans" and reporting on their lack of detail and workable solutions).
Who cares that he has no real national security experience when we're smack in the middle of one of the most dangerous times in our history with more countries turned against us than for us, and countries like Pakistan in big trouble that could lead to huge trouble?
I CARE.
Wake up people.  I don't care if other people have had the same lack of experience before being elected president...what we need now is someone confident and strong on all the issues, with an in-depth knowledge and detailed plans in every area.  That, is Hillary Clinton.  Even the Republicans in the senate have praised her and admitted she is one of the most focused and hardest working senators there is.  She has proven her ability to work "across the isle" where Obama can only claim he will.  Talk is nice, but we need action, people and soon.
JOHN KERRY OR FAT MAN KENNEDY ALREADY ARE OBAMAS RUNNIG MATE
"...HRC's supporters sense that their pathetic loser candidate is finished...maybe she can marry Obama and get some more 'experience'...lol ..." Muzhik, Washington, DC (Sent Monday, February 11, 2008 2:57 PM)

THIS, is supposed to make me want to support Obama?

To Muzhik: HRC Super Tuesday Scorecard:

CA – she wins by double digits in the biggest state despite Oprah!

NY -  she wins by double digits in the 2nd  biggest state

MA – she wins by double digits in a huge state despite Teddy!

Latinos – she wins the fasting growing group of voters by nearly 3 to 1

Check!

Obama= All sizzle, no steak!
You had better hurry HRC, you need to get your crying session in before the nightly news!!!
Apparently all media is in love with Obama. However, none of the Hillary supporters complain when Hillary articles are posted.  Look at the Archives for MSNBC please: Clinton (377) Obama (332). Seems to side Hillary more than Obama.

Okay ... but how many of Obama's are negative??
Patty SD CA, your back, I have a book for you, "Finding Manana: A Memoir of the Cuban Exodus". Patty, something that is misguided, voting for or not voting for someone because of something so superficial as race, religion, ethinicity. These are gifts from God, what we do them is left to us and it becomes our legacy.
Why all the concern about Obama now? When Hillary was up there were no such out cry.
The message of hope is quite powerful. Go Obama.
at least msnbc seems balanced. cnn only shows the same 2 minute segment of an obama rally (where he compliments clinton) and shows hillary all day in large segments. then when obama is about to go live they have to cut to lou dobbs or something else. ted turner is really pulling for clinton. msnbc is better balanced.
Clinton & Obama. When either are elected we will see what Socialism really looks like. Americans, you better watch their actions and not listen only to their words. They may be wispering in your ear, while grabbing you by the........!
@Shtuey

So, Obama is responible for what his NON-lobbyist donors otherwise do with their money?  So if one of Hillary's donors murder someone, she is a party to murder, right?

I see you display the same keen logic of many other Hillary supporters...

Run along now, I think it's your nappy time.
ONLY CLINTON WOULD "INSIST" she is still in it the gall of that witch, winning CALIF. AND NEW YORK.those PODUNK STATES >SHE SHOULD HAVE WON UTAH THE DEMS ARE KNOWN FOR WINNING.YOUR BIAS IS SHOWING WHERES SHUSTER WANNA COMMENT
"I just don't see his apeel."
Patty, sd, ca

Try bananas, they have apeel.
Obama Groupies:  What a pile!!!  You,  like your candidate, Obama  enjoy "spinning" in the direction that's best for the campaign.  Obama is certainly a good candidate.  I HRC does not win nomination, I would consider voting for Obama.  CONSIDER is the operative word.  Obama, was wrong when he stated that HRC's support would automtically go to his campaign.  WRONG again, oh OBAMA.
I am a minority, and as such will not vote for a candidate who I consider unqualified just because they are black or a woman.  I certainly believe HRC to be qualified, I do not feel the same about Obama.  He is just too smooth, and slick.  He has all the right moves, but does not have a substantive plan for the USA.  Obama, is a POL.  There's nothing wrong with being a POL, but he is not our "Second Coming!!"  I Have not heard that he has yet changed water into wine, and or walked on water, I believe that Chris Matthews and Tucker (THE JAW) Carlson are currently working on such a documentary.  The so-called journalists at MSNBC are transparent in their disdain for HRC, and have become Obama Groupies.  Matthews, is probably the worst offender.  He was once a credible, reporter who now is a PRO Obama wonk.
Finally, I hear my sermons at my church.  Obama's preaching is better than my priest's , but the last thing I want from my president is sanctimonious drivel.  We have had eight long years of being "preached to and at" by Simple George.

Edwards doesn't want VP.  He wants his issues heard and part of the Platform.  He will make a decision that is best for his causes.  Both camps will be willing to have them on their short list for which ever job.

There is to much anger in politics.  Look at wat each of you write and it shows no trust of anyone or looking at the issues.
In my opinion, Obama's meeting with John Edwards was cancelled because Edwards plans to endorse Hillary. If Obama thought he was going to get Edwards' endorsement, he would have changed his schedule to make the meeting happen - and made a big media event out of it, aka the Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy hoopla. There's no other explanation.
