Clinton on air in Wisconsin

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
We wondered in First Thoughts this morning how much Clinton will make a play for Wisconsin where Obama is currently favored. The campaign announced that they are going on air today in the state with an ad focusing on health care, an issue for which she has criticized Obama.

Here's the script for "Obligation":
Announcer: She fought for universal health care, long before it was popular. Got health insurance for six million kids and expanded access to health care for the National Guard. Now, she's the only candidate for President with a plan to provide health care for every American. A top economist calls Hillary's plan, "the difference between achieving universal health coverage and falling far short." If you believe health care is America's moral obligation, join her.
Tuesday. Hillary Clinton.

Clinton: "I'm Hillary Clinton and I approved this message."

Thanks to George W Bush, our once great nation has fallen ill to the selfish whims of our current administration.  As president, and as a woman, who are by nature care givers, I believe that Hillary Clinton can nurse our sick country back to health. Not only to the greatness we were under her husband’s administration, but also nurture us into an even better America than we ever were.

Hillary has had my support since day one, and will continue to have my support.  It’s about time we have a woman as president who cares about the welfare of this country, instead of the welfare of their pocketbook.
WTG  you goooooooooooo  girl!! Hillary  on the move
THE RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE HAS JUST BEGUN.BRING IT ON !
She had her shot at Healthcare.  It was a disaster because of her leadership in the process.  We would know more about that if she would release her White House papers so we could judge her experience.  But just like her taxes.....they are not available. She is like Bush.....hides things and mucks up an issue until most people can't even begin to understand.

She also finally admitted that her plan will garnish wages if people do not or can not afford her plan. "This Week with George Stephonopolis (sp)"
Why doesn't the ad mention her massive failure trying to pass health care in 1993 and 1994?
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/05/opinion/05brooks.html

Clinton still hasn't said how it's going to be any different this time...
I hope voters in Wisconsin will note that Obama's health care plan has a much better chance of actually being passed in the House and Senate.
If Clinton wins the nomination, how fast will MSNBC run to her and try to make up?

That will be fun to watch.

actually I think they already started after getting in trouble last week.
i thought there was a fact check done on the amount of children she has gotten health care for.. isn't that six million figure largely over exaggerated? Isn't the number more like 4,000 children? Can someone please clarify this? Is she advertising false information?
Oh my God---what nerve, how dare she---doesn't she know she has lost and the obamanoids want her gone----how uppity can one woman be----?Mika will have plenty to say about this
What about the wage garnishment she is going to enforce along with her universal health care plan?
What about her tax returns that she refuses to make public?Let her be honest with the American people so we can make a choice? This is saying anything to win for Hillary.
By using the term "universal healthcare" it is implying to those who don't do their homework that healthcare will be provided to all by the government. Which is not what her plan is.
"According to a recent report by the Urban Institute, any health care plan (aside from a single-payer system) will not be able to provide universal coverage without a mandate for coverage. So why is Obama afraid of a mandate?"

http://www.thestreet.com/s/why-does-obama-fear-mandatory-health-care/markets/marketfeatures/10401739.html?puc=googlefi
My Clinton butt kissing?  Why buy ads on MSNBC?  Everyone should just threaten to "shun" them and you get your ads AND transcript posted for free.

Go Democracy!
Universal healthcare by garnishing everyone's wages (Hillary's plan) is hardly what lower income people (or anyone else, for that matter) need.  No wonder the insurance companies are among her largest supporters!  Obama's plan is far superior and doesn't sell out to the moneyied interests!!

Vote Obama!
What a crock.  I am not going to succumb to mandatory Hillary health care.  Besides, she won't even be in a position to run this through.
On the one hand the Obama campaign is saying that we should not change the rules in the middle of the game and allow the Florida and Michigan delegates to be seated but yet they DO want to change the rules in the middle of the game and state that super delegates should not be allowed to vote how they want (which has been the rule for 20 years) but rather they should vote based on some other factor.  Is the Obama campaign saying that the Florida and Michigan delegates should not be seated since those are the rules but the rules should be broken when it comes to super delegates?
Must be an obama speech on now you cant seem to keep a stream going for more than 1 minute, get a job and get out of the way and let people who are interested in the free flow of ideas do this site not you FOLKS.THE REAL PEOPLE WILL NOT BE POLLED OR SILENCED
YES WE CAN ! HILLARY WILL WIN THE NOMINATION. hillaryclinton.com , please come visit today.
The polls I've seen for Wisconsin show Clinton in the lea and its not a caucus, unlike the other midwestern states he has won.
IT IS AN ABSOLUTE SHAME FOR OBAMA TO LAY CLAIM TO ALL OF HILLARY'S PROPOSALS., INCLUDING HEALTH CARE.
SHE HAS DONE THE RESEARCH, SHE HAS MADE THE HARD DECISIONS, SHE HAS COME THROUGH WITH HEALTH PLANS ONE DAY AT A TIME AND HELPED PROVIDE HEALTH CARE TO MANY WHO WOULD NOT HAVE IT, BUT SHE HAS DONE SO MUCH MORE.  SHE HAS MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR HANDICAPPED CHILDREN TO GO TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS WHERE IT WASN'T ALWAYS POSSIBLE BEFORE SHE WAS FIRST LADY OF ARKANSAS. SHE WAS THE ONE VOICE CRYING OUT FOR HEALTH CARE AS FIRST LADY OF THE UNITED STATED WHEN IT WAS NOT THE POPULAR THING TO DO.  NOW SHE HAS MADE IT EASY FOR OBAMA TO USE HER PROPOSALS TO LIFT HIS WAY TO A NOMINATION THAT SHE HAS EARNED AND DESERVES SO MUCH MORE THAN HE. I KNOW HE LIKES TO MAKE FUN OF ANY ONE WHO MIGHT SAY IT IS HER TURN, BUT I SAY IF IT IS ANYBODIES TURN IT IS TRULY HILLARY CLINTON'S.  SHE HAS EARNED IT.  FAIR AND SQUARE.  HER IDEAS ARE HER OWN, INCLUDING THE LINE HE USUES IN HIS PEP RELLY'S.  YES HILLARY WAS THE FIRST ONE TO TELL HER AUDIANCES WE CAN DO IT.!!!
HE STOLE EVEN THAT FROM HILLARY.
Hillary's plan will encourage companies accross the country to drop health coverage from their benefits packages thus forcing millions to buy lesser government mandated HMOs.

Her plan is Universal *CRAPPY* Healthcare.

Remember, Hillary takes the second most money from Health Insurance Lobbyists in the country (2nd to George W Bush)... is it no wonder that she wants to force you to buy their product without addressing the cost?

Obama's plan would address the costs of healthcare first, encouraging more companies to add health coverage to their benefits plan while creating a national plan with an option to buy in.
Never bring a knife to a gun fight!  By the time this general election is over, only one person will be standing, and that's the one tough enough to take on the GOP.

Hillary '08
Very nice ad!
Did she talk about "Lambert Field"?
<<"I'm Hillary Clinton and I approved this message.">>

Too bad less and less people approve of you Hillary.
Barack Obama's healthcare plan has a much better chance of passing Congress, AND will cover as many if not more families than Clinton's because it costs a LOT less. His  plan forces insurance companies to lower premiums through a new goverment consumer agency called the National Insurance Exchange. Clinton's plan forces famiiles to buy higher cost plans, mandated by the government which will garnish your wages!
I hope everyone realizes that this campaign is not to choose who will be The American Idol. It's time to seriously compare resumes instead of who speaks more and loudest. That's all folks... Thanks!
Interesting how she has turned her only major experience of a failure in her major health care plan during her time in the White House as First Lady into a positive which was a very small compromise of covering some children.  Why does she think this time in the White House she can be successful????
Why must politicians force health care on people?  Of the 47 million give or take who are uninsured, roughly half that number do not take insurance of their own volition.  If everyone is forced to have health insurance, who then will pay?
Is it just me or it's truly what it is. She is beginning to look like a former candidate, just like Guiliani.

This is the end of the Hillary and Third-Term-Bill dream ... so sad...
This is simple.
Obama is practical.  Hillary is pandering.  Nobody with even half a brain believes that even if Senator Clinton squeaks out a victory in the fall, that she will be able to get anything close to Universal Healthcare passed.   Democrats will lose seats in the Senate and House (she will be a "downticket drag") and, while all us of think it's unfortunate, the GOP will be strongly unified against Universal Healthcare, particularly if it has Hillary behind it.

Barack's plan achieves the same ends as HIllary's plan and it actually has a chance of getting through Congress, particularly if there's a "downticket boost" from Obama being on the ticket.
PraKaithip,
Happy to do so.  If only Hillary would let us see her resume.  Every time we ask for backup, she says, "sorry, I won't show you until after the Primary."   No records, no tax returns, nothing.  Any of us on this message board that tried to get hired without providing evidence of what we had done in the past would get laughed out of the room.
For those who think MSNBC is biase towards the Clintons don't get your news here go to Fox News or elsewhere.
This is Hillary Clinton's strongest issue.  With all the excitement about Obama, I think people are missing how poor he is on issues where most Amercans really want to see a change, and desperately need that change.  Besides Healthcare, Obama's environmental plan is weak, pushing for building more nuclear power plants and coal plants; his economic stimulus package doesn't address the long term picture of job creation, only suggesting tax credits.  As an educator, I don't like his plan for merit pay for teachers as a way of improving education.

I am an Edwards Democrat and I vacillate now between Obama and Clinton almost daily.  But it is Obama's position on Healthcare, right now, that keeps me from falling into his camp.

Americans are ready for change, and Obama says "yes, we can", but his positions say "no, we can't" it's not possible at this time.  Well, when will Universal Healthcare be possible, and how many people will suffer, become econimcally crippled or die, before it does become possible?  I am afraid Obama won't fight the really hard battles.

That's why I miss Edwards, and sometimes think that Clinton will at least really fight the battle on Healthcare.

It isn't that hard to log onto every candidate's website to find their substance, or lack of.

Obama knows that it takes the masses to win an election, and not a few people that want to hear a 60-minute policy speech.

I like policy speeches, but the general electorate just needs motivation to go to the polls. You think Hillary would have realized that by now?!

Her husband won the nomination for his style (Tsongas had all the substance). She just doesn't have that charisma that you need . . .and this is coming from an enthusiastic supporter of her husband in the nineties.

I know her fans are pouting that this isn't fair . . .but too many down-ticket candidates will need Obama's charisma over her "experience."
Too Late Baby.

GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For as much as the tide is swinging back to the Democrats (especially in November) we are still a predominently conservative/right-of-moderate country.  People do not want to be be FORCED to get healthcare.

Obama's health care plan could actually get passed.  His plan makes sense.  If healthcare is affordable and cheaper than what they already have why wouldn't people choose the cheaper option.

My father, a 58 year old Republican, says he can support national health care if he can have the same quality for less cost.  His plan addresses cost.

Americans do not want to be told what they MUST do.  Are we not a country based on free will and personal choice?
Lets take a moment a rationalize this. niviversal health care is better that what Obama is selling. Under his plan there are still "fines" that will be enforced to parent who do not buy in. By him enforces companies to lower their premiums: CO-Pays will sky rocket because there will be no need for competition. Under a universal health care plan. Health care companies will have to compete with the Congressional Health care plan. This means Health care insurance policies will have to lower not only premiums but also co-pays in order to compete with the Congressional Health care. I recieve health care provided buy the government and read the bills all the time ; It is amazing to see the bartering that goes on. For a 500. dollar bill, the governement gets the hospitals to lower that bill buy at least 50% and pays your bills at the lower price. I have no co -pays except for 3.00 medicine co-pays. Imagine a country where doctors and healthcare providers start taking more interest in actually caring about patients not the BOTTOM DOLLAR.
SHIRLEY L. AR: '...IT IS AN ABSOLUTE SHAME FOR OBAMA TO LAY CLAIM TO ALL OF HILLARY'S PROPOSALS...'

Hillary STOLE John Edwards' health care plans
She's also stealing Obama's ideas.... 'movement' talking with our adversaries, opposing the Iraq war..

What ISN'T in Hillary's ad:

She's taking MASSIVE contributions from Insurance and Pharmaceutical corporations
Guess WHO WILL BENEFIT from Hillary's health plans ?

She's forcing EVERYBODY to buy health insurance from her contributors ?

Hillary Clinton, cold, calculating, dishonest, unethical and civisive
WE ARE TAKING ALL DONATIONS AT , hillaryclinton.com, PLEASE COME VISIT.
0Take the lesser of the two evils and vote Obama. Be careful of what you wish for. You may get it!!!!
Here is a reality check. I work in a hospital(26 years) and see so many people with no health care  - they come in for open heart or stroke or whatever - and demand the best to save them, spending over 600,00 pr more for their care.  We ( the poor schmucks that pay for insurance) have our ins. rise to pay for that care. When you talk with them( the individuals without insurance) they have atvs, nice cars, a nice house, they travel to fla for the winter. In short they have the good life - they take no guff from a  boss - quit jobs at the drop of a hat and have a loud opinion of everything.  They CAN pay for insurance - but choose not to... a point obama refuses to see. ANY health plan that does not include everyone is one that will fail because individuals such as this will continue to drive up the basic costs for the general public with insurance. IF you have not worked in the field DO NOT make assumptions about the success of OBAMA's plan which is in reality - no plan. Wake up and look at your neighbors. those without insurance are living on the generosity of the middle class and we are getting fairly tired of the load. Nuf said.
yes I am a hillary supportor, I think before people in wisconsin and ohio vote they should look at obama's voting record in Illinios, 6 times at least he either (as he claimed) pushed the wrong button while voting or did not vote on things critical to his district. since 2003 or 2004 his has recieved 277,000.00 dollars from the energy corparation that runs a nuclear power plant in his district, why is this not reported on? if they (the media) are going to rake Hillary over the coals then it is only fair that Obama's imperfect and planned voting record be look at as well
Why does Sen. Obama and his supporters reject the idea of Universal Healthcare? His latest arguement is that Sen. Clinton will mandate coverage for everyone. Sen. Obama doesn't always have a problem with mandates. What he seems to leave out from his criticism of Clinton's plan is that he thinks mandates are perfectly fine for children. Democrats have long fought for Universal Healthcare. I hope that with Sen. Clinton as our nominee -we will get there.
Hillary healthcare plan will garnish your wages. What happen to freedom of choice?
To Jack in VT

I really wish people would not generalize about others with no insurance.  I worked for many years for a company that did not offer insurance.  There was nothing I could do.  You do to the hospital for care, because doctors will not see you without insurance.  There is no place else to turn.  Obvioulsy a system that doesn't work. I do agree with you that the system must be mandated for everyone before it can work.  To all the conversatives: Mitt Romney established mandatory insur. in MA.  None of you were carrying on about it then.
