Clinton's Ohio workers' appeal

Posted: Tuesday, February 19, 2008 11:58 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
In an appeal to blue-collar Ohio voters, Clinton is up with a 30-second TV spot there, called "Night Shift."

"You pour coffee, fix hair, you work the night shift at the local hospital," an announcer says. "You're often overworked, underpaid, and sometimes overlooked. But not by everyone. One candidate has put forth an American family agenda to make things easier for everyone who works so hard.

The ad concludes with Clinton at her desk under just the light of a desk lamp, "She understands. She's worked the night shift, too."

Senator Clinton should stick with what she knows.  When has she been underpaid?  She should release her tax returns NOW so we can see how much she actually has been paid.  She is a multi-millionaire now, after all.
Oh, by the way, I don't have time to "fix my hair" before work. I get up and go. At least for now. My job will cease to exist at the end of May, thanks to NAFTA, the corporation outsourced all our jobs to China. Thanks Hillary. And YES she DID have a lot to do with NAFTA. Check the FACTS.
The Media has tried so hard to Kill Hillary Clinton's compaign and she ignors them and marches on.  Dear Media, you will not control all of our hearts and minds.  Hillary Clinton will make the best Commander and Chief Ever!!!

To all you Obamacan's, let me say this.  If Obama winds up with more delegates (not including the super delegates), I will support Obama for President.

I hope you will do the same if Hillary winds up ahead because we need to unite.

I call out to All Obamacans, say your peace, say why you support Obama and then confirm you will support whichever candidate wins.
Give me a break!  This is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen!
NO! YOU LYING ****! YOU HAVENT WORKED THE NIGHT SHIFT! YOUVE WORKED AT NIGHT WHILE BABY SITTERS LOOKED OVER YOUR KIDS! YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW IT IS!
Nice ad, but i'm still voting for OBAMA/EDWARDS08 that would be a perfect ticket. I just don't trust her at all.
She's wrong.  Keeping an eye on Bubba will be a full time job, not just the night shift.

America has had enough of the Clintons!

Obama 08!
"You pour coffee, fix hair, you work the night shift at the local hospital," an announcer says. "You're often overworked, underpaid, and sometimes overlooked."
--Wow, at least Fmr. Sen. Edwards was the "son of a millworker," but with Sen. Clinton this ad seems so, so fake.  Hey, I guess if her policies are more beneficial to blue-collar individuals, more power to their vote.  I'm skeptical.

"She understands. She's worked the night shift, too."
--With the one exception, she hasn't worked the night shift, because she NEEDED to feed a starving family or to get a job with healthcare coverage--of course the mandates will solve all that!  She did it because that's her personality.  My experience from college tells me that people who need to pull all nighters are the people who can't manage their life well enough, and frankly the people who had more difficulty learning--tough love.
I live in Cleveland, OH, and I want to say that it is too late for Hillary.  Her campaign is falling apart, she lend herself $5 million dollars, she been attacking Obama with these negative ads.  It's really over for her, and her campaign is all about "HER", not the American people.  I can't trust what she is saying.  She is manipulating the delegates/super delegates.  Obama is the only candidate that can unite the democratic, independents, and republician.  There has never been a president candidate that has inspired, and got so many new voters come to the "Polls".  I can't beleive anything she say, because she is a "CROOK".  Obama has what it takes to lead this country: character, judgement, intelligence, unity, and style.  He talks about having it "Right" on day one.
Other the other hand, Hillary is only focused on winning.

White Male - Obama Supporter
Cleveland, OH - Uneducated - Age 49
You gotta be crazy if you think Clinton is getting my vote...

what a load of crap! NAFTA certainly didn't make things any easier for American workers. Where was she when her husband's administration implemented NAFTA??? What kind of experience is that?
She understans!!!!!!! Now that is a slap in the face to all that work the night shift.

When did she ever work 2nd or 3rd shift? When did she have to may bework more than one job to make ends meet.

I really hope that she is exposed for her vailed lies because she was not there for use in the nights when she pushed welfare reform (knowing that there will be thousands of women having to take these shifts which would cause them to miss there family).

When has Bill every had to get up late to go to work at 11pm and return in the morning for Breakfast? Oh, sorry that would have been one of those times with another women. Man has to work hard to keep up leading a double life.

The real question is do we want to really deal with thst again?
Believe me I can relate to this I have worked the night shift also, Not a Latte drinking liberal like the Obama supporters. Not sure about those signs at one of his rallies either, Remember the hood. I am proud to be an American always have been, don't always agree with everything our Country does but still proud. Shame on Michelle Obama. Is this the First Lady we are looking for?
To even COMPARE the backwards, egotistical politics-of-personal-gain of a politician worth millions to people who actually try their hardest is sick.

Hillary, you will NEVER have to worry about a rent check, a power bill, gas to get to work, have to buy a smaller birthday cake and less gifts for your child because you got laid off thanks to NAFTA, or want SO badly to give a loved one something they deserve on Valentine's Day but not being able to because food is more important --- even trying to compare yourself and pretend like you have something in common with the people who actually LIVE that is disgraceful.

If you work SO HARD for the common citizens, why aren't you starting the process in CONGRESS, where you "WORK"? Why do people have to wait for you to be president before they can start benefiting from your proposals? You want people to take you seriously, DRAFT A BILL, PETITION PROPOSALS, do something more than run for president. And that goes for all sitting senator contenders, Mr. Obama.

It's insulting.

Ummmmmmmm All Barack Obama needs to do is a 5 second advertisement where he says "NAFTA". Any fool knows the reason times are hard for the American worker is because NAFTA sent our jobs over-seas.  And before you say that was Bill and not Hillary...I am sorry, Senator Clinton doesn't get to use Bill's accomplisments as her accomplishments without taking on his major failings too.
Hey there working people (like me): You don't even need to bother voting fo rHillary - she will stel your vote anyway! I've never been more angered or disgusted at a politician in my life! Even Bush looks good next to her!
Democrats: do the right thing and vote for Obama '08
"She understands. She's worked the night shift, too." ...well, she sleeps with one eye open to keep an eye on Bill.
Just the right message.  Salaries of the multitude of folks in the middle have not kept up; inflation and rising health care have more than eaten away at what little progress they have made. With the president saying the solution for the nations financial woes is to cut back on social security, we need someone in touch with reality to take the lead.
PUHLEEZE!  When has Hillary Clinton EVER been under paid????
ya....well Patty Solis Doyle worked the nightshift for Hillary with no pay......then got canned. Is that what the women in OH want to support??
Here are some new words for Sen.Obama specificities, details, securities; those are words a nation needs to know to ensure their future in to somebody for the next for 4 years.
One of the best Clinton ads to date...but is it too little too late?
MSNBC misquotes Michelle Obama, leaving out the word "really".
Across the bottom banner on the screen: "For the first time I'm proud of my country".

"For the first time in my adult lifetime I am REALLY proud of my country", suggesting that she's always been proud and is now REALLY proud.  The difference with or without this word is profound.

I think she speaks for most of us.

MSNBC:  Please correct this error!
And while she was working night shift, someone else was working on Billy Boy.
Sorry to sound hateful, but I still predict "Clintonian tears" on Mar. 3rd.
Dear Hillary,  I have been waiting for you to become president for the past 8 years.  I can't wait for you to take your seat in the oval office as the first woman president and the best president that this country has ever had the honor of being led by.
Staying up late thinking of ways to attack Obama without seeming like a cloying power mad political Ahab. Come on  Wisconsin!
Clinton Rocks
Obama Sucks

The effect of the Obama kool-Aid is staring to disapear. People are getting tired of his "ispiration"
yeah so was NAFTA.. Bill had an agenda back then, we are reaping the results now. American jobs going overseas
Now she's trying to show a softer nice side? Well, guess what, nobody is getting fooled anymore by her dirty tricks and disgusting maneuvers.

She and her team have made the media into a circus. The media is switching sides with no real point-by-point discussion of the policies. It is all becoming very disgusting to me. For the first time in my life I got interested in politics. For the first time in my life I felt proud to be part of a real democratic America. Now with all that cheap stuff that is going on, with her so desperate to be nominated, it is just overwhelmingly repulsive.

Shame on you Hilary, Shame on you media, we the people deserve a real good president, and you just can't stop using all your dirty tricks to tarnish him!

Nothing will change our minds about him. Obama is our ONLY chance to get back on track, he IS our inspiration to work hard and make history for our children and ourselves.
Yeah Hillary is working late to try to steal the elected delegates from Obama.  Hillary cares about Hillary first, second and third. She will agree to any position to get elected.  It does not matter because of her actions she will alienate the African American vote, turn off the youg voters( does she really believe that her priveleiged daughter represents the youth ?)and drive independents to John McCain.  The only Clinton legacy will be is losing a change election  and destroying working coalitions that the Democratic party has relied on.
Oh yeah, all those Washington types are overpaid, you know, with Bill collecting $100,000 checks for hour long speaking engagements, and Hillary having to check up on her cattle future trading all the time, those two REALLY KNOW what it's like to work the night shift at a Walmart.
Ads like this amaze me.  As if she has corner on that market.

To me, ads like this are just wasting campaign money.

Let's talk true issues.
What was Bill doing when Hillary was working late?
I don't believe that working in the senate for a huge salary is the same as working the night shift for wages is the same.

GIVE ME A BREAK
Bravo, at last someone talks to the real people who work.  Hey, Obama, talk to me, I am here too, and I need you to relate to me if you want my vote.  Right now, Hillary has impressed me with with her ability to not give up and never surrender her beliefs.  And, she talks to me.
Wow! I work at a desk too! Hillary and I have so much in common.
Hillary for president!
Obama for house speaker!
Our ocuntry is so in trouble if we vote the CLintons back in.  How many fights will Bill get into, how many scandles will be uncovered, how many extra marital affairs willwe hear about, how much fighting is going to happen?  Are we sick of this yet?  It is time to turn the page and to find a woman that can run for President that is more Presidential and less baggage.  We suffered enough through the Clinton scandles and the Bush Wars again it is time to turn the page.
Powerful message.....I can identify.  Hillary has my vote.  Obama panders to people making $100,000+.  Believe me, none of them has ever worked a night shift.
The only saving grace for America, is Hillary Clinton. But are we smart enough to relize it ?
Boo. Maybe she'll cry again on March 3rd just shore up that "down-home" image.
Typical Clintonian.  People were overworked and underpaid during the eight years of the first Clinton presidency.  Not much was done about it back then.  Black folks still remained for the most part living in poverty.  Not much changed.  And yet the Clintons want you to remember that they did something they never did in the first place.  Remember NAFTA?  The ad is just as ingenuous and dishonest as the Clintons are.
Kicks of a dying horse. In TX they are either tied or Obama is ahead. With 2 weeks to campaign in OH and TX, Obama will win with a landslide victory in both states. Clinton needs to take a break and learn how to give a speech that sounds authentic and convincing. She sounds too much like someone who is acting than telling the truth.

Clinton chose the Rudy Juliani route of ignoring some Americans and taking her message to a few in big states. Whoever gave her that strategy actually strangled her campaign because she will not survive this race. Rudy used it to his own downfall. She is next to go.

Everyone had thought Rudy and Clinton were the nominees for the candidacy for both parties, until their campaign advisors gave them the wrong recipes and they cooked up their own downfall.

If Obama wins or ties TX, even if Clinton wins OH (which she won't) it would be a done deal that Obama will be the democratic nominee (which he will be anyway. After March 4th, Clinton will be running just to cover face.
Another ad where Hillary underlines all the promises she'll be breaking if given the keys to the Whitehouse washrooms.
Hillary has become a little like Gollum in the Lord of the Rings

She's lost her humanity and is only driven by the Ring of Power

Ethics optional in her quest for power
Integrity optional, Honesty optional, Democracy optional.......

She'll steal votes honestly won by Obama if THAT will get her to the White House
She'll smear, distort, race-bait Obama if that does the trick
She'll violate the spirit and the letter of the laws of fair play

....Sorry ......
Isn't THAT the 'Republican playbook' ?
Isn't THAT part of the Karl Rove style of politics ?

Hillary Clinton, 15 years of dishonesty, scandals and divisiveness

Hillary Clinton, cold, calculating, dishonest, unethical and divisive
Hmm...I guess a Lincoln Bedroom Fundraiser now qualifies as "working the night shift".
Is it just me, or is it unwise to raise the image of Hillary Clinton working late-nights at her desk? Not to be crass, but doesn't this immediately remind voters of what Bill Clinton gets up to while his wonky wife Hillary burns the midnight oil? Does the Democratic Party really and truly wish to be put through another wash-rinse-spin cycle of the Clinton marriage, when we have a wonderful and vigorous and honorable candidate with a huge and growing voter base?
As a woman Hillary is giving the image that woman if they can not have their way want to pick fights and discredit.  This is not what I want represented of woman.  If Hillary is the experienced one she says she is then she would not need to grasp at Sen. Obama speeches or depict everything he says to attempt to discredit him, let her work and efforts speak for themselves and let the people decide what is best for them and the best person win.  Sen. Obama is running a fair and square race which people want to see.  All the nit picking is getting old and is this a preview of what to expect if she makes it into the White House?  A few things Sen CLinton should remember:  One if you are pointing your finger at someone else there are always three pointing back at you and last people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
I suppose my pro-Hillary post was too much for First Read to bare...so I will repost it...

This ad shows Hillary has the right stuff to be president...she has a plan, while Obama only has a dream.
