Reaction from Iseman's firm

Posted: Thursday, February 21, 2008 12:03 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
The lobbying firm Vicky Iseman works for, Alcalde & Fay, released the following statement on the Times' article, Iseman being named and the allegations that she had an affair with McCain:

"The allegations and malicious innuendo reported by the New York Times yesterday are completely and utterly false," writes Kevin Fay, president of the firm. "Alcalde & Fay's relationship with Senator McCain has been professional, appropriate and consistent with his legislative, jurisdictional and constituent duties. The story is based upon the fantasies of a disgruntled former campaign employee and is without foundation or merit. Ms. Iseman is a hard working professional whose 18 year career has been exemplary and she has our full support. It is beneath the dignity of a quality newspaper to participate in such a campaign of character assassination."

Yeah, whatever you say, moron. We'll see exactly how 'untrue' the allegations are when you sue the paper for slander, defamation, etc. Man up and do it now if The Times is in the wrong here. Otherwise, shut your yap.
I guess we could care less about McCain. ;-D
Evidence against the Times is mounting. Maybe they should put their reporters in front of some unbiased reporters to answer some questions.
Well I guess that pretty much makes this a bum story.

I'm an Obama-supporter myself, but I think it's pretty disgusting that the NYTimes ran with that story without checking with all parties involved and including their statements.  I believe McCain when he says he did nothing wrong, and the fact that Iseman backs him up and says nothing happen only supports his innocence.
I'm NOT a McCain Supporter.  But this whole thing is a bunch of BS.  Let it go, NYT, let it go.
Notice how FIRST READ doesn't update the posts in it's First Thoughts column, and quickly moves to insert several more stories, all negative about McCain, to draw attention away from the fact that Obama is losing to Hillary in Ohio, Texas, and Pa.
But, not single word about that guy Lawrence who claims he had sex and used cocaine with Obama, and who offered to take a lie detector test about it.
FIRST READ is full of shit! You are prostitutes, and Obama is your pimp.
The Times either needs to prove the relationship (they haven't), or print a retraction (Times is way too slimy to do this). Speculation is not news.

Nice job though Time's getting the Republicans firmly behind their candidate.
Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.
The Times has become a complete joke to real journalism. It has a long history of running to press with tabloid style stories. It has become a rumor rag.
How many reporters have they let go now for fictionalized reporting. They have a special weekness for stories against republicans though. It seems those stories are deemed ready to run with little or no fact checking and lots of implying of non facts. I wish I  could stop my subsciption but I stopped paying for this paper long ago.
By even acknowledging that McCain knows her, is an indication to me, that she's somewhat Important. How this plays out will be interesting, as Huckebee & Romney sit by just waiting.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but did'nt McCain make a trip to New York, back in Janurary when Rumor's of a story about him were 1st breaking?

His personal life is between him & his Wife, however, what the NYT's is suggesting is about his Ethic's & this woman's Influence on McCain & his Powerful Position at the time.
KEEP the innuendo flying nice job MSNBZZZZZZZ.DOnt want the facts just the gossip.
Maybe the Times should not have ran this story unti they had ahrd core facts or at least something that looked like hard facts. Now they are hanging their reputation on some idle gossip, which can be bad for them should a true scandolous story come along.
I REPEAT I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMEN.
why do people always have to find something bad in a persons past, just elect on his merits, not his personal life.  Mr. McCain seems like a good person, and if this did happen I don't believe his wife would have stayed by his side.  Everyone has a past, maybe we should look into your past and print it in the newspaper.
Oh , that's right - a lobbyist firm talking about dignity? Give me a break!
Who me ? Hell I have trouble just gettin' out of bed in the morning.
Who cares about the SEX!!! Everyone in Washington sleeps with everyone else!  What I DO CARE ABOUT is the pattern of questionable behavior of McCain.  His wife investing money with Keating?  Lobbyists at every turn and McCain is INNOCENT?  Give me a break... If McCain is as pure as the driven snow...how that SPEAKS VOLUMES of the CORRUPTION OF WASHINGTON!!!
I do not support the exposing of a personal affair. However, the political and legislative support McCain gave the lobbist at the time of his friendship, as reported, is in direct opposition to his running as a man of integrity.
Gimme a break! A "flyboy" doing favors for sex? He could get all he wants with giving out any favors. any military person knows the egos of people who fly aircraft. They get chicks wet by blinking.
I can't wait till the Larry Sinclair polygraph is taken to corroborate/deny his story. I hope he can find the limo driver before the Obama machine does.
Of course, the sex part is irrelevant... it's the drigs we're all interested in finding out about.... right?
You can't teach an old dog new tricks:

"But the story I was pursuing was not so much about Cindy McCain's unfortunate addiction. It was much more about her efforts to keep that story from coming to light, and the possible manipulation of the criminal justice system by her husband and his cohorts. The irony is that Cindy's secret would have stayed secret if John McCain's heavy-hitting lawyer, John Dowd (of D.C.'s Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld; his most recent claim to fame was serving as co-counsel for fellow partner Vernon Jordan during impeachment) hadn't heavy-handedly pulled out all the stops to protect the McCain family.

Dowd tried to get back at the man on Cindy McCain's staff, Tom Gosinski, who had blown the whistle on her drug pilfering to the DEA. But in the course of trying to get local law enforcement officials to investigate Gosinski -- Dowd and the McCains considered him an extortionist; others might call him a whistleblower -- Dowd set in motion a process that would eventually bring the whole sordid story to light. When that maneuver backfired, the McCain media machine went into overdrive to spin the story.

It's a story of unintended consequences. It's also a story of power politics and media manipulation that's very un-McCain-like -- if you believe his national media hagiography.

But both of Cindy McCain's staged, teary drug-addiction confessions have been vintage John McCain. His MO is this: Get the story out -- even if it's a negative story. Get it out first, with the spin you want, with the details you want and without the details you don't want.

McCain did it with the Keating Five, and with the story of the failure of his first marriage (Cindy is his second wife). So what you recall after the humble, honest interview, is not that McCain did favors for savings and loan failure Charlie Keating, or that he cheated on his wife, but instead what an upfront, righteous guy he is.

Candor is the McCain trademark, but what the journalists who slobber over the senator fail to realize is that the candor is premeditated and polished. John McCain shoots from the hip -- but only after carefully rehearsing the battle plan, to be sure he won't get shot himself.

This is the story of a time that strategy backfired, and yet the McCain machine still managed to contain the damage"
McCain will win. The media will eventually fall out-of-love with Obamania. The media are giving Obama a free pass.

Did you see Obama at the Texas rally stop his speech so that he could blow his nose? He stopped his speech, took out a hankle, and blew his nose....to the thunderous, earsplitting applause of 17,000 people.

I'm sure Chuck Todd and other Obama newsmen were there in the audience, clapping for Obama as he blew his nose.

The media are so in-love with Obama that they don't notice his empty suit.
"The allegations and malicious innuendo reported by the New York Times yesterday are completely and utterly false," writes Kevin Fay, president of the firm."

She shares intimate details of her life, like adultery, with Kevin? C'mon - we've been treated like we're stupid long enough.
I agree with several other comments, if the article is not true then why is Mr. McCain not sueing for defamation of character and slander among other things.  I see to remember a president some eight years ago denying an affair.  If there is one thing that really turns me of it is a liar!  Just tell the Truth rather than denying it only to be found out later.

I think they have the names all wrong didn't she say Bill. This way Hillary will look like a saint again. She needs Bill to help her get the sympathy vote from all the women.
