Obama outspent Hillary 5-1 on WI TV

From NBC's Mark Murray
One of the keys to Obama's 17-point Wisconsin win? Per a University of Wisconsin Advertising Project study, he outspent Clinton nearly 5-to-1 on TV ads in the state. Overall, the four Dem and GOP candidates aired more than 8,000 spots in the state, spending a combined $2.1 million.

Of that amount, Obama spent more than $1.5 million; Clinton spent $300,000. That, folks, is quite a gap.

A few other findings, per a release:
-- "In what most political strategists consider a 'change' election, Clinton ads never mentioned the word 'change.' Obama ads mentioned change 1,824 times."
-- "Hillary Clinton never mentioned experience in her ads, either."
-- "Except for the BCRA disclaimer taking responsibility for her ad, Clinton did not speak in any of her ads -- all were by voiced over by a narrator. Meanwhile, virtually, all Obama ads featured the Illinois Senator speaking on his own behalf."

Anyone else picturing a woman with Albert Einstein hair in a moo-moo surrounded by empty Coors cans and and 17 cats?

Maybe with Dale Gribble-style security systems and bloodshot eyes?

What's in the water in San Diego?
Barack had the capacity to spend, so he did. And it helped him.

Hilary, stop listening to those silly PR firms around you. Follow your guts. Show how you are the one who can truly fight for Universal health care. You've always done that. It's the right thing to do. No amount of money can beat that.

I seldom read this blog anymore because of complete idiots like Patty.  This blog is full of stupid, mean jerks and I only peruse it to see what the crazy right-wing morons are saying now.  Thank you to all of you who fight back, but I'm too busy getting Barack Obama elected.
Obama/Webb '08
Just an FYi, what I posted above was not how I truly perceive Clinton supporters (I know and work with many, I was one, until I saw her campaign.), but I figured a lil reciprocation for Patty's ignorance and intolerance were on order.

The youtube video says it all.  Today, I was actually thinking the zebra had changed its stripes.  Until the post making reference to this:

Unbelievable!  Absolutely Unbelivable!
I just doubled my financial contribution to Obama. He has proved to be a better financial manager than the Clintons. Furthermore, my bait is paying. I'll continue to invest in Obama. The Clintons have poved to be disastrous with the money of their donors. $140 millions spent with nothing to show for it.
Go OBAMA 08
John Doe, you said, " So....I guess you can "BUY"  a presidency. Especially when you're the media's darling like Obama."

So are you suggesting Clinton wasn't spending the same ration early on? Did Obama not come back from a near 20 point deficit?

Clinton was the rich one first, so whatever you're saying about Obama now you're saying about Hillary then.
This talk about the Republican strategy to cross over and vote for Obama doesn't bear out in terms of statistical significance. I know some people might be looking for a Republican conspiracy to explain why Obama was elected. But maybe, just maybe, his message resonates with us voters this year. People are re-engaging with the political process this year because they feel that there is some real potential to change the nasty, partisan tone of the last decade.

Clinton faces claims of borrowed language
Posted: 01:00 PM ET
Since her campaign leveled allegations of copying at Sen. Obama, observers have pointed out similarity between some of Sen. Clinton's language and that of her husband.
Since her campaign leveled allegations of copying at Sen. Obama, observers have pointed out similarity between some of Sen. Clinton's language and that of her husband.

(CNN) – Hillary Clinton – whose campaign has spent the past several days pointing to instances of borrowed language in the speeches of rival Barack Obama – is being accused of lifting words from one very familiar politician: her own husband, former President Bill Clinton.

During Thursday night’s CNN Democratic debate, Clinton looked to highlight occasions when lines used by Obama have resembled those delivered by his friend and adviser, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

Clinton’s closing answer, which brought the audience to its feet, highlighted her personal struggles and the difficulties facing ordinary Americans: "You know, the hits I’ve taken in life are nothing compared to what goes on every single day in the lives of people across our country."

Shortly after she delivered her closing remark, a reader of Joshua Micah Marshall’s Talking Points Memo Web site noted that the line seemed to bear a resemblance to one her husband was quoted as delivering during his 1992 campaign.

"The hits that I took in this election are nothing compared to the hits the people of this state and this country have been taking for a long time," her husband was quoted as saying in an article by Anna Quindlen in the New York Times in that November of that year.

Last night, Hillary Clinton also said: “You know, whatever happens, we're going to be fine. You know, we have strong support from our families and our friends. I just hope that we'll be able to say the same thing about the American people. And that's what this election should be about.”

The Obama campaign immediately began circulating a similar comment delivered by former presidential candidate John Edwards. “What's not at stake are any of us. All of us are going to be just fine no matter what happens in this election. But what's at stake is whether America is going to be fine,” Edwards said during a December debate in Iowa.
Talk about a bad strategy.  Clinton spent limited money in WI and they were negative ads.  If you're not going to campaign for real in a state, the least you could do is focus on your strengths.  Wasteful.
Patty and the like - take the high road. Hilary did.
She won't have problems supporting him in the name of unity.

The way you guys have been posting will not help her cause. She won't react the way you folks do. Show her strength, why she is the person for the job. Focus on that, period. Enough of the mud sling and rants - as well as responding to mud sling attacks. For all you know, we may even have them team up together.

Even the CNN the host of the debate questions Hillary's closing lines borrowed by John Edwards' and Bill Clinton's speeches. How come the reporters of the media do not provide a balanced information to its readers and viewers?? CNN as we all know favors Hillary. Just to be fair, I think it's in the media's interests to shed a light to the other side of the facts as well.
He'll win the nomination and then the white house because he's the best candidate.
Amy, Seattle, WA (Sent Friday, February 22, 2008 1:53 PM)

So sad , HE will never win, you are all so blind!  It will not happen, he has not a snowball's chance in hell of winning the GE! I don't care if every single black person in the country votes for him he will not win.  The repukes have set him up and they will make him fall, he will be easy!
Oh come on Obama loving people. You are suppose unite people remember.

You are going to make me cry. :(
As Edwards camp has pointed out, Hillary spent huge money early on.  She expected the race to be over right away.  When that did not happen, Hillary's campaign didn't know how to adapt.

Maybe if Hillary didn't demand that best linens and drapings for her events, she would have had more money left.

Or maybe she should spend money on consultants that get the job done.  She spent millions on consultants in South Carolina, only to get defeated by a significant margin.

Going back to 2006, Hillary's campaign contributors were questioning her spending.

Micky, (by the way its YCM, not YMC) I suppose that the Teamsters, Boilermakers, Service employees, and other unions that endorsed Obama feel "he's better than the blue collar worker"?  Riiight.

If you want to vote for Clinton, fine, just don't do it because Obama's black or because his name is "Obama" or because a black guy took your job at the plant...Leave the racism, class-ism, et al. out of it. If you think she can run the country better than he can, and can beat McCain in November, vote for her. It's that simple...
Sorry still not drinking the Obama Kool-Aid. I won't join your cult. - Patty

Rejection we can believe in - Hillary/Patty '08
Patty,

What you are failing to realize is that the margin of Democrats voting over the margin of Republicans is like 3 to 1.  Are you not paying attention to the bottom of the television screen when the votes come in?  There simply is no way that McCentury can win unless he were to get every Republican to crawl out of every crack and crevase in the entire country to go out and vote for him and that's NOT going to happen because most Republicans have serious issues with him that they are not going to be able to look past.  I am a Republican and you'd have to put a loaded gun to my head to get me to vote for him...and even then I'd seriously have to think about it.

Congratulations President Obama.  Oh, and cheer up Patty, I'm sure you'll learn to love socialism in time.
Wow Elaine.....if you read it on the internet then it must be true.  Was it on youtube? Or somebody's personal blog?  Or how 'bout wikipedia?  We all know how reliable those sources are.  I'm surprised news organizations all over the world haven't contacted you with job offers yet.
Take it easy Patty, thinking like that is the reason why this country still can't get past old hatred.  Clinton and Obama are the Jackie Robinson's of politics.  If everyone thought like you the civil rights movement would have never gotten off the ground.  This country is moving on and trying to heal itself.
It is time to come together.  Calling any candidate names never persuades a voter.  The nomination is Barrack Obama's to lose and as long as he sticks to his message he will be the nominee.  There isn't anything left to fight about; if there ever was.
If you want to help support Barrack Obama then visit his website. You can make calls to direct people to their polling places.  If you live in a state with an upcoming primary then volunteers are always needed.  If you really want to state his case learn about the legistlation initiatives he wrote and supports.
Start comparing his record and John McCain's and the Republican platform.
"Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Spanish/American philosopher George Santayana.

Obama says Hillary will not bring change. He is right. Hillary will bring progress.

Those who were not involved to experience the past did not gain the knowledge that must be retained. They lack the retention of ingredients needed to progress the issues of health care, the economy, jobs, and to redirect resources from the Iraq War to the fight on terrorism.

Obama wants us to forget and eliminate those who possess the knowledge gained during those fights, as if by doing so there can be progress.

Obama was not in the fight for health care, when the insurance companies brought change that defeated any hope for progress. Obama was not in the Senate fight that authorized the use of force to combat terrorism when the President changed the intelligence that doomed the plan. Obama was not in the fight that brought prosperity and jobs during the 90’s, or when but Bush made the changes that doomed the economy.

If these issues demand progress, then Hillary will be the right President.

For anyone who would doubt that change cannot bring progress, I offer Iraq. The Bush doctrine wanted to bring the progress of Democracy and equality to Iraq. The Bush doctrine held that by changing the “cast of characters” in Iraq that democracy could progress and flourish.

In Iraq the changes were made, and the cast was changed, but no one believes that the cause of Democracy has made progress during the 5 years of war.

We do not need change from our Democratic values. We need progress. Hillary Clinton is the right person, and will be the right President.
Hi everyone,
The intelligent posts are not being passed up by me. I have had a lot of food for thought from people like Chuck NY , Jaycee in Calif. and many of the rest of you. Last night I read an incredible post from a 27 year old named Peter.  I want to thank him again.  It is a fact that among people,  there will be a certain amount of crazies, racists etc.  But it is an open site and they have the right to vent.  I try to pass them by.  Anyway, thanks again to all you lucid and insightful people.
Sounds like Obama not only spent more money on advertising but spent it more effectively.
HP, as has been demonstrated by several exit polls this primary, he doesn't NEED to have every single black person in this country voting for him...he's got plenty of white voters (and Latinos and Asian-Americans and women), too...

Your post is just more disguised racism...
What you are failing to realize is that the margin of Democrats voting over the margin of Republicans is like 3 to 1.

Patty, he means registered voters, not people on the blogs. If you're a republican you can't pretend to be a democrat in most state primaries. I realize there are several shiny objects all over the desk, but try to keep up.
"where are you sending the ones that don't agree with the mob and the desteny child? "

Grammar school.  Hey - at least you can spell "boy."

"So....I guess you can "BUY"  a presidency. Especially when you're the media's darling like Obama."

Damn straight. Or industry's tool, like Bush.  Welcome to American politics - don't let the light hurt your eyes.
I believe the fine people of this post, those supporting Hillary and Barack would best be served by addressing the issues in the posts and quit acknowledging two misguided souls. If they choose to use this medium to diffuse there ideals let them but the more you acknowledge them is the more fuel to the fire. They and their ideals will soon become moot. Let's get back to the business of issues and unity.
I now know why some folks have been switching to Obama.

Military commissions:
While Iraq and other military issues have gotten plenty of air time in Democratic debates, there may be a difference between Clinton and Obama on an issue of great concern to many Democrats: President Bush’s policies of restricting court review of military hearings, using torture-obtained evidence and violating Geneva Convention rules on prisoner treatment. No Democratic candidate has supported Bush on these issues, but only Obama, not Clinton, is a co-sponsor of Sen. Chris Dodd’s “Restoring the Constitution Act,” which would reverse these Bush policies. Clinton supports legislation restoring the court review (habeas corpus) that Bush has undercut, but she has not signed on to Dodd’s more aggressive bill.

Health care:
The Democratic primary has seen much debate about requiring individuals to buy health insurance and about subsidizing insurance costs, but on one important insurance issue, Obama and Clinton do seem to differ. For decades, insurance companies have been exempt from antitrust laws, which means that unlike other businesses, they can collude to set prices, divide up territory in which they agree not to compete, etc. About one-fifth of Senate Democrats, including Obama but not Clinton, have co-sponsored legislation to repeal this antitrust exemption for malpractice insurance companies, which — if insurers are indeed colluding to keep doctors’ rates high — could lower health care costs.

Environment:
As with other issues, there is not a huge difference between Clinton and Obama, but a distinction on one controversial issue explains Obama’s better League of Conservation Voters ratings: In 2006, Obama scored 100 percent to Clinton’s 71 percent; for their entire Senate careers, Obama is at 97.5 percent compared with Clinton’s 87.7 percent. Over several years, Clinton consistently has supported, and Obama has opposed, legislation to expand offshore oil drilling.

Ya.  Hillary is all about doing for working folks.  NOT!
Obama once vistited 60's radicals home. In fact used it as a platform for his running for Senate. Poitico.com/news/stories---
In april 2007 Obama endorsed Al Sharpton (arm in arm) Barrack Obama III: Rev. Sharpton is a voice for the voiceless, and a voice for the dispossed. What National Network has done to is so important to change America and it must be changed from the bottom up.-
Trinity Church Pastor Jeremiah Wright(www.yidwithlid.blogspot.com) who honored Louis Farrakhan married the Obama's and baptized thier children. True Obama has indeed denounced Farrakhan however members of his campain staff are Farrakhan followes. Do you believe he does not agree with Farrakhan? Are you sure? Will you stake all our lives on it?
Last but not least,
Obama said While he was in Youngstown, Ohio he talked to workers who have seen thier plants shipped overseas due to conseqences of poor deals like NAFTA that they have literally seen equipment unbolted from the floors and shipped to China. Right?
John Kerry's words only he used Canton, Ohio.
http://www.msnbc.com/id/5552784----you will have to scroll down several paragraphs but you will find it. I suppose it was so far into Kerry's rant that he thought no one would notice this one either. Give me a break.

What are we to do? If you are in Texas, Ohio or really anyother state you must do your own investigation or rue the day you elect a person you know really very, very, very little about him. Read the internet sermons of his Pastor, really dig into the complete history of Al Sharpton. Think people.
Check out http://www.israpudit.com 2007- Blog archives Obama's extensive ties to hate groups and bigots. This would explain why Michelle Obama fells as she does about America.
Texas, Ohio, all for American student need to use your gifted skills to really make a difference in American and be the first to really do inhouse investagations of Obama.
It appears that Senator Clinton wasn't really ready on Day 1.  Her campaign has been plague by mismanagement, poor judgement, and inefficient staffers. Selecting the right personnel is key.Don't you for one moment think that the ills of her campaign are not indicative of her management style and ability. The same thing would happen if she was running the country. She would select those whom she owed favors [not necessarily selecting the best qualified] to help her run the country and get the same results. Those who continue to support her are no more than just sad "loyal" supporters. You can't see what's good for the country because of your misguided loyalty to someone who thought the presidency would be given to her on a silver platter. It's self-serving attitude that has gotten her campaign in trouble.  She thought that she did not have to work hard.  When it came down to working for the presidency, we can trully see whose the real worker.
where does I sign op for gramer schol?
The notion that Republicans are voting for Obama in an effort to "take out" Hillary is sheer lunacy.  Of the two candidates, republicans are (rightfully) far more fearful of going against Obama than they are of going against the devicive Hillary.

Whether it is fair or not, the bottom line is that Hillary pisses off a substantial portion of the Conservative voting base.  They'd show up to vote for McCain simply because they dispise her.

Conversely, in a McCain/Obama contest, social conservatives will likely just stay at home.  They don't care much for McCain and their feelings on Obama are probably about the same.

There is absolutely no question that in a match up vs. McCain, the democratic party has a far better shot of winning if Obama is hte candidate.
I think Reality is setting in on some of Hillary Supporter's. They've seen her go Negative, so they feel like that's the way she wants her supporter's to go also.Sad state of affairs!!

It's your vote, you can vote for Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, whoever you want, that's your right. It's downright Comical to read some post that say the MSM tells people how to vote. Granted the MSM has preferences, but Only You vote for whom You want to.

It's great to see Veteran's on here see exactly how Hillary played that last night.Voter's across America are voting with Common Sense this time. We see America has Real Problem's & Now is not the time to let the same ole same ole Politic's as usual have their way.

McCain Democrat's is the Most Comical of all. We will have some of those, but, they will be Smothered by Reagon Democrat's coming Home. They will be Smothered by Independent's. They will be Smothered by Cross over Republican's who are'nt delusional anymore.

Anyone own stock in Duncan Donut's?

Barack Obama, the next President of the United States of America!!!!!

" DELUSIONAL THINKING BY COMMON SENSE AMERICAN'S IS OVER "
As Obama called out "this is Silly Season" in response to John King's question on Clinton Campaign
calling him on "lifting words",  30 minutes after the debate the OBAMA CAMP plays "Silly Season" politics with it's comparison of what Hillary Clinton said that was similar to what John Edwards and her husband Bill Clinton said about being okay.....   OBAMA DOUBLE SPEAKS ALL THE TIME.  HE ANSWERS AFTER HILLARY CLINTON AND SAYS THE SAME ABOUT THE ECONOMY AND EXPOUNDS ON HER IDEAS.  HE
IS VERY SNEAKY....VERY SNAKE LIKE IN HIS ATTACKS...
SLIPS IN THE ATTACK AND THEN TRIES TO SUGAR COAT WITH A LITTLE SMOOTH TALK.

RIGHT 100% --  ELAINE MEDINA OF AZ (Post at 1;33 on
Feb. 22)   THANK YOU, I WISH I COULD HAVE WRITTEN AS WELL YOU DID.  I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SAY THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN...MOST OF MY COMMENTS ARE NOT POSTED.

OUR PRIMARY VOTES WHICH DO NOT COUNT IN WASHINGTON STATE FOR THE DEMOCRATES, PROVE THAT EVEN THE WASHINGTON STATE DEMOCRATIC PARTY ARE PUSHING OBAMA.
THE CAUCUS RESULTS WERE 2-1, ANY ONE COULD VOTE WITHOUT PROOF OF EVEN CITIZENSHIP OF THIS COUNTRY.
THE TIME RESTRICTIONS OF 1 - 2 PM LEFT MOST VOTERS OUT.  THE PRIMARY IS TOO CLOSE TO CALL WITH THE MAIL IN BALLOTS STILL BEING COUNTED.  THEY REPRESENT THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE OF WASHINGTON STATE, YET THE DELEGATES ARE ONLY USED FROM THE BACK-ROOM CAUSUS.

THIS IS ONE FAMILY THAT IS NOT VOTING FOR A CONDIDATE WHO HAS BEEN PUT ON THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET BY THESE METHODS.  OBAMA'S CAMP EVEN MADE A STATEMENT THAT THEY KNOW HOW TO WIN THE CAUSUS.
YET THEY SAY THE THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE SHOULD BE LISTENED TO.  THAN IF WE ARE TO BELIEVE IN OBAMA, FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN'S VOTERS SHOULD BE LISTENED TO.
THEY ARE NOT CAUCUS STATES, OBAMA WAS ON THE FLORIDA BALLOT AND HE HAD BEEN IN THE NATIONAL MEDIA FOR MONTHS...THE PEOPLE IN FLORIDA KNEW WHO THEY WERE VOTING FOR.  IS HE A MAN OF HIS WORD OR WHAT?
After reading the latest article on how Clinton's money was spent, I'd say Barak used his money wisely.  This can be see by the results!!
This is for the Obamaites who don't like mispelled words.  I have Microsoft Office and use the spell checker constantly, however, it can not be used when writing on the comment pages.  And you Obamaites would not like my comments if I used the spell checker because:  when it is used the word Obama
comes up as being spelled incorrectly, the corrected suggestion is "OSAMA".  I have encountered this in the personal emails to friends.  Also if you substitute "Repubs" for Republicans, the suggested correct spelling is "repulse" which is quite funny.

SO STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT INCORRECT SPELLING...THE OBAMA SUPPORTERS HAVE NO TROUBLE SPELLING NASTY LITTLE WORDS ABOUT HILLARY... SOME OF THE COMMENTS SHOULD NOT BE POSTED AS THEY ARE NOT EVEN DECENT COMMENTS.
Wow I get it now the Majority of the american people have been fooled. Everyone in this country but about 5 on this site are idiots. The republicans gather up about 18 to 20 thousand people to go to a Obama rally then get more to vote for him then even to vote for their own candidates. But the press has not picked up on this grand plan yet, cause the thousands of emails and the phone calls are secret so we Obama backers are fooled into believing we are winning. Gee I am glad some of you cleared that up for us.
I wonder if Senator Clinton is aware that her on-line supporters drip with venom for anyone who dares disagree with them?  Do you folks think that if Senator Clinton manages to scrap out a win that somehow all of us that you have called "delusional" folks who have been hypnotized into joining a "cult" will suddenly say "Oh, yeah!  I like being insulted!  Clinton all the way!"  It isn't going to happen.  You are truly harming your candidate (Senator Clinton) everytime you write such a vitrolic post.  Stick to the actual facts please -- if you actually have a reason you support Senator Clinton (you know, an actual policy difference, or something she did that you admire) why don't you spell that out.  This insulting dismissal of millions of Americans is an embarrassment on the face of the body politic.

As for Senator Obama's Harvard Law School experience being an automatic disqualifier, did that poster forget that Senator Clinton went to Yale Law School?  Did that poster perhaps forget that Senator Obama started life with very few advantages and many disadvantages while Senator Clinton did not?  I would ask that you try not to forget it again.  You have made another insulting untrue attack on Senator Obama, that actually rebounds against Senator Clinton should someone actually do the research.

To conclude:  if you want anyone to actually change their mind, you will find that ad hominem (the act of offense by personal insult) is not a winning strategy.  If you have something positive to say about Senator Clinton, you might have a chance of swaying an actual voter with that positive statement.

Full disclosure:  I am one of those "delusional," "cultish," "latte drinking," alleged trust fund babies who has the audacity to support Senator Obama.  (By the way, I do wish I had that trust fund, but not a big fan of latte).  I support Senator Obama in part because he understands and does not use ad hominem.  Instead, Senator Obama is trying to get all of us back to arguing over policy differences.  Guess what folks, if we actually argued the policies, instead of focusing on insulting each other, we would have a much better chance of solving our problems.  This applies to our personal lives as well.

Food for thought.

Yes we can!  Obama '08.

hillary is broke, her campaign is sinking, and she now is looking at a reality where its more than likely she will lose. i hope im not the only one praying for a graceful bow out instead of more BS like the "change you can xerox".
OBAMA IS TRYING TO BUY THIS ELECTION. NOT ONLY IN WISCONSIN, BUT ALL THE STATES...AND NOW THE SUPERDELEGATES!   See front page news in Chicago that MSNBC is NOT talking about and reserve for McCain gossip from the N Y Times or anything they can dig up on Hillary! OBAMA FINALLY ADMITS TO 18 YEAR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS CROOKED BIG TIME FUNDER, REZKO!  Say NO to Obama.  Vote fairness for all and unity for all...VOTE HILLARY!
Excuse me, but all of this plagiarism business is giving me a headache. ALL of these folks have speech writers. ALL of them get help from associates with their speeches. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. It is, however, very disingenuous to try to make this an issue and then turn around 15 minutes later and do it yourself. On that basis, Hillary's closing remarks were pretty cheeky.
Patty is the uneducated one in the Clinton statistic. The difference is Sen Obama uses his money on the campaign, fighting for positive change in our great nation.  Sen Clinton uses her money on Donuts, pizza, $250,000.00 rooms and $1,000 dollar plates and lavish lifestyle.  I think her spending priorities are skewed meaning off the track a bit to put mild.  If she can not handle her own campaign money spending, how do you think she will use Americans money?  It does not take a rocket scientist to see this.  It is one thing to be ready on day one but like Sen. Obama said it is important to be right on day one.
For those of you who think Hillary is about to give up...not so fast:
http://www.texasmonthly.com/blogs/polldancing/2008/02/hillary-seat-michigan-florida-delegates.php

Now she says that she never agreed that the delegates from FL and MI wouldn't get seated, just that she wouldn't campaign there.  Just when I thought she was reading the writing on the wall, this comes out.  Even some of you (rational) Clinton supporters must agree, this smacks of desperation...
Sen Clinton talks about using word when she used Sen. Edwards words in her closing remarks.  How two faced she is. Prime case where people who live in glass houses that throw stones.
