John Harwood of CNBC and the New York Times interviews Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, Clinton's chief surrogate in the Buckeye State. They talk about last night's debate, McCain's prospects in Ohio, and whether or not Strickland is interested in being someone's running mate.

How can a governor that gets elected stating that it is important for public officials to release their tax returns endorse a candidate who does not?

Gov. Strickland is very popular in Ohio and his support is valuable to Hillary Clinton.

I live in Ohio and will enthusiastically vote for Hillary next Tuesday! She will be a GREAT President.

Ohio, Texas, Vermont, Rhode Island and then Penn must stop this Obamarama train wreck. It's ruining our Dem party and ruining our chances for victory in November. A vote for obama now is a vote for McCain in November.

Obama is unqualified to be President and is unelectable in the general election. That's why the corporate owned media and their republican pals are trying to so desperately to bring down Hillary. Republicans are being told to "do their duty" and vote for Obama to bring down Hillary and then of course, vote for McCain in Nov. The media has engaged in a 24/7 hit job on Hillary for months, yet she's still standing strong. Hillary is one tough woman, she can beat them at their own game.

Did Teddy Strickland talk about how he made it a HUGE issue for his opponent to release his tax returns when he ran for governor?

Did he talk about why Clinton is exempt from his standards and values on honesty and transparency in government?

Short story to comment on but it is an opportunity to discuss the importance of the VP selection of both candidates. Any names being considered by Obama? After all the VP a candidate selects says a lot about their judgement of a person whom they believe would be capable of taking over as President for them. Unfortunately, Obama can't look to a consideration of Colin Powell who would be the man with Foreign Policy experience because of lying to the United Nations and the American People about Iraq's weapons of mass distruction. Yes, Powell like Clinton, were betrayed by Bush as they were put in the position of supporting the President. An knowing how Obama feels about Hillary Clinton's vote on the resolution giving Bush the option to go to war if the Inspectors failed (He did not wait for the inspectors to get back into Iraq as promised),
Obama must feel the same way about Colin Powell.
Actually, if Colin Powell would switch tickets and express that he would be a Democrate, he would be the perfect running mate for Hillary Clinton. Now
that would be a powerful, united ticket for the Democrats. Certainly, Hillary and Colin Powell have both the experience and the betral of Bush in common
and would be really great to help our country.

It would be much better if we knew before we vote for a Presidential candidate who their choice of running mate for VP would be. Really makes sense
and just might be part of the deciding factor in our votes.

Hillary won the debate last night hands down. Unfortunatly we have this idiot democratic media that is splitting the party again. Obama was thrown on to the democrats like a darling. Hillary continues to get killed all the time. It is an absolute joke. I am so ashamed and embarrassed to be a democrat. If Obama wins the nomination I with many other Hillary supporters will vote for Mcain. Obama is all talk and no substance. His foreign policy is a joke. I can't wait to see the Olbermans , Matthews, Tucker's wilt away after once again they hand the White House to the Republicans. Hillary is the most qualified candidate by far.

Caroline, the "train wreck" is the prospective Clinton 2.0 presidency. Obama is more electable, and more qualified than Mrs. Clinton. Being the former First Lady only qualifies you to be a future First Lady. Hillary Clinton is running on her husband's record (and trying to cherry-pick that for "the good parts"), has demonstrated over the last week very poor judgment with regard to problem-solving and demeanor (the "whining" about SNL should be a real disqualifier), has demonstrated fiscal irresponsibility with the financial state of her campaign, has demonstrated poor people management skills (again via her campaign), has shown herself to be secretive (no tax returns, White House records), has demonstrated a desire to revise history and the facts (NAFTA, healthcare, foreign policy).

This ia a "change" election and voters are looking for something more than a skirt in the White House. A Clinton returning to the White House is a not a change and it will be Bill Clinton back in the driver's seat. In 2008, we have a better choice: Barack Obama.

As for Caroline, Hillary is equally as qualified as Senator Obama. Her 'years of experience' were sitting on boards of programs as appointed by political officials. She was in board rooms when Senator Obama was on the ground as a community organizer in Chicago. Senator Clinton was also on the board of Wal-Mart, but now claims she is against the worker practices they had in place while she sat on their board. In two terms in the Senate, she has sponsored just ONE piece of legislation and authored none. Her one piece never made it out of committee and expired. What was it about? Violence and vulgarity in video games! Senator Obama has himself authored numerous pieces of legislation, and co-sponsored more than a dozen bills during his short stay in Congress. Senator Obama's first act as a US Senator? He co-sponsored the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act introduced by none other than John McCain.

She will release her tax returns. Why do we keep on harping on that issue? Barack and Rezco and Larry Sinclair - what about those issues?

Now, let's stick to what is important - the real problems affecting us daily. The future of this nation. Who can get us out of this mess? There has to be a balance of diplomacy, strenght and guts. We can't afford to once again be naive. Barack can't even look staight when answering Foreign policy questions. Please people, do what is right for your country.

I got the memo from Karl Rove asking us to support the unelectable Obama, but it doesn't say anything to counter the argument that he matches up better against McCain in national polls then Hillary does. Perhaps I lost a page of the memo that says to lie in the polls, fake a bunch of enthusiasm for him, and the other. Gee, I hope the liberal media doesn't pick up on our hidden agenda.

It appears to be very easy to look the other way or make concessions for a candidate when ( once again ) we have a representative from Ohio looking for what THEY can gain from their candidate being elected, not what's best for our state. The mayor of Youngstown endorsed Bush in 2004 on the promise to be hired into Bush's administration ( even though Youngstown is one of the more oppressed cities in the U.S) .....he's still here, AND he is no longer the mayor of Youngstown. How many times is is going to take for the politicians in Ohio ( specifically Youngstown ) to get it through their heads that if you were promised a job in their administration ( potential VP nod )before and got left behind, that's the way the "old" politics work in Washington....you will be left behind again. Wake up for goodness sake!

The call for transparent government was valid for Strickland against his opponent when he ran for office....but he's willing to make concessions for Hillary and promote her to the people of Ohio, if it means there's something in it for him. Amazing how quickly one will abandon their beliefs when it suits their agenda.

Ok, I just read in Obama's home town paper. HE SMOKES. He smokes cigarettes. He admitted it and his wife admits it. Do we want our kids looking up at a president who smokes? And if he's hiding this, what else is he hiding? There's something really weird about this whole campaign. It's scarey. Is that not going to get out in the general election? Do you people not think this is a big deal? How does a smoker be a genuine advocate for universal health care? I don't know about you, but I am OUTRAGED by this.

Politics as usual here. He's talking out of both sides of his mouth, and I am so glad that Tim called it on her during the debate last nght. It's a very good question- how can Gov. Strickland support a candidate who refuses to release her tax return when he took a forceful stance against an opponent who did the same? What is she hiding, and why does she feel it is only necessary for her to do so IF she is the lone chosen nominee? I think it should be a law that all candidates do this, because she is obviously hiding something that she knows will cost her votes during the primaries. I too am wondering why MSNBC is letting this one slide?????

The only way I'd vote for Sen Clinton is if she promised to take Ted with her. I voted for the guy and it's the old saying "buyer beware". Read the package closely, or you will be stuck with the same old sleaze as you had before. They are deep in the trenches like everyone else slinging as much mud as possible. They act like this tax return thing is somehow beyond their control blaming the Whitehouse for dragging their feet. We all know she just wants to wait until after March 4. We are not stupid Hillary. Stop trying to be what you think everyone expects you to be. When you were in Wisconsin you acted like that was your second home and you "love cheeseheads", and in Texas you acted like a Texican. Of course, it's the media and the republicans propping up that empty suit candidate. Can't possibly be because his vision and message resonates with the American people, or his leadership on the issues, or his ability to organize a ground force of thousands of volunteers in every state to phone bank, and GOTV/GOTC.
