thanks for clearing that one up Just Asking. This whole time I thought Obama was a muslim (NOT!!!).

You're such a geniune dude (NOT!!!).

I would tell you to get a life, but I'd much rather ask for you vote.

Join the winning team..

(My shortest comment on any blog since blogging began follows): She's finished.
I have a question hopefully someone can answer:

Hillary leads Barack by close to 600,000 in popular vote as of February 6th. Does anyone know the popular vote (overall votes)as of today.

He must be getting delegates in heavily populated areas like metropolitan cities because they have more black voters there giving more delegates to him. Like here in Alabama he barely won in popular vote but split the delegate/superdelegate count.

and I have noticed that Hillary won a state in overall popular vote but actually had one less delegate total?

This seems just like the Gore election years back when he won overall popular vote but Bush got the presidency.

It is far from over - the is one very interesting campaign for the democrats
I can't wait 'til Tuesday when Texas and Ohio (Rhode Island and Vermont) join the ranks of the "insignificant"!
HE READ THE NIE AND KNEW THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION WAS LIEING.

IF HILLARY HAD READ THE NIE, MY COUSIN WOULD BE ALIVE TODAY.
All this peoploe who really really like Hillary, and think the rest of the world is stupid, I pose a question:
After seeing the way she has run her campaign, almost to the ground, can you really trust her?

$25000 on rooms in vegas... Now that's just irresponsible.
why are there more pro - obama commetns and my pro clinton ones never get published? I type mulitple times a day and nothing criticle or barack and my messages have yet to appear. I wsih the media would p-lay fair or whomefver is monitoring these messages sent in - there are 4 pro clinton messages on this first page right now out of 60 or so messages.
Obama has my vote and yes I am white and middle age woman. Would never put THE Clintons back in again.I sure wouldn't vote for McCain he is to old and they should put age restrictions on running for Pres.
"There will certainly be some McCain Democrats in the Fall.
Brian, Worcester, MA"

Given the history of the past 7 years, anyone who calls themselves a Democrat and votes for John McCain in Novemeber is too stupid to qualify for membership anyway.
Nader's being in the race makes it impossible for the Democrats to win the presidency so, irrelevant is irrelevant.
Ron, TX said

Obama has won more than 66% of the time.

MORE THAN 66% of the time.  Ron, Ron, Ron, Ron, you clearly need to brush up on your "Fuzzy Math."

Since Ron is mathematically challenged like so many of B.O.'s supporters, I'll provide a little tutoring so that Ron won't grow up to be a total moRon.

Let's review:

First let’s start with the Popular Vote

To date, Obama has   10,697,535 votes

        Clinton has 10,090,298 votes

             Total  20,787,833 votes

        Difference     607,237 votes (Obama's favor)

Ok Ron, I hope you've been able to keep up so far, because this part gets a little tricky.  As a result, you may not want to try this at home.

Obama having 10,697,535 votes gives him 51.9% of the total votes cast for him and Clinton.  We will round up and just call it 52% since we like you Obama folks so much (NOT).

Clinton having 10,090,298 votes gives her 48.5% of the total votes cast for her and Obama.

That's a difference of 3.5% of the total vote.

Now let’s take a look at the Delegate count according to MSNBC.

This includes both Pledged Delegates and Unpledged Delegates.  It should be noted that any source you attempt to go to for Delegate totals, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, the AP and the Washington Post, etc, you will get totally different Delegate count numbers.

To date, Obama has a Delegate count of 1386 of the 2025 Delegates needed to get the nomination.   Thus, leaving Obama 639 Delegate short of what he needs to secure the nomination.

Clinton has a Delegate count of 1293 of the 2025 Delegates needed to get the nomination.  Thus, leaving Clinton 732 Delegates short of what she needs to secure the nomination.

Obama having 1386 Delegates gives him 52% of the 2679 total Delegates accounted for thus far.

Clinton having 1293 Delegates gives her 48.5% of the 2679 total Delegates  accounted for thus far.

Whether it’s Popular Votes or Delegates, the percentages are exactly the same (what a shock).  Obama 52% and Clinton 48.5%.

Now we’re not quite done yet.

Moving forward, let say Obama was to get 60% of the delegates (just for kicks).  The contest would have to continue until May 20th with Kentucky in order for Obama to secure the requisite 2025 Delegates needed for the nomination.

However, if Obama were to get 52% of the delegates moving forward as he has prior to now, then the contest would have to go into the Convention in order to decide the winner.

Now that we have concluded our mathematical lesson, Ron, would you drop out if 48.5% of the people, who voted, voted for you as opposed to the 52% that voted for your opponent?  Would you drop out if 48.5% of the total Delegates accounted for thus far have been awarded to you?

Would you drop out if your opponent still needed 639 Delegates in order to clinch the nomination and even if he got 60% of the Delegates moving forward, wouldn’t be able to accomplish that task until at least May 20th which is three months away?

Would you drop out if your opponent were to get 52% of the Delegates moving forward as he has in the past, and in so doing, it would not allow for a clear winner to be determined until the Convention?

Don't bother answering any of those questions, they’re all rhetorical.

Of course you would drop out, right Ron?

You would simply tuck your tail (do Obamacans have tails?) between your legs and just walk away right?

Oh let me guess, you would do it for the Party, right Ron?  The Spineless, No Backbone Democratic Party.  The same party that elected Claire McCaskil  to the US Senate were she has spent her entire fourteen months campaigning for Obama and sniffing up Obama’s a*s hoping to get a White house position, instead of doing the work of the American people she was elected to represent.

If you believe that you are the most qualified person for a job, any job, especially if it is that of POTUS, and 48.5% of the people who have voted so far feel the same way, then you continue to fight for the 48.5% who believe in you the same way the 52% believe in your opponent.

That’s how Democracy works Ron, this isn’t a Dictatorship.  So Obama, his supporters and the media need to stop trying to dictate to Senator Clinton, and her 48.5% of the voters, what they should do.

If not, they’re going to regret it in November.

It's time for special interests to end; it's time for corruption to end; and its time for a new beginning.  Now, I don't think Barrack is perfect, but if we (the people) all stand behind, then maybe some perfect things can happen in our goverment that have never had a chance of happening before. Maybe we can even restore the honor, pride, and strength of America for democrats, for republicans, for independents: but most of all-- for AMERICAN!

one american --- I've been following these various novice commentators for the past few days. Pro Hillary this and pro Obama that...each day more of the same. Your point of view is the first straight forward, common sense approach that I've read all week. Folks wise up and agree that both Hillary or Obama would make a GREAT President. After Tuesday we need to begin process of healing and rally around Obama. Without coming together, WE LOSE in November and you get the same old crap served on a different plate!!
I agree Rockefeller's endorsement of Obama is great news.
But the underlying issue that makes me nervous, and could be a GOP trump card,is Iraq.
I, like Obama, opposed the Bushies' Iraqi march of folly from the get go.
That's why I was so ambivalent about the Kerry/Edwards ticket in 2004, even though I voted for it. It is why I could not support Hillary Clinton this time around.
At least the two Johns finally found the courage to admit their Iraq vote was a mistake. But not so Sister Hil.
All that said, I've slowly come to question whether American troops will be coming home from either Iraq or Afghanistan any time soon, regardless of who becomes president in January, 2009.
The Iraq invasion created a power vacuum and opened a Pandora's Box that has destabilized the Middle East from Palestine to Pakistan.
The US has too many vested interests in the region, like access to the oil reserves of the Persian Gulf and the natural gas reserves of Southwest Asia, to simply now walk away from Iraq and let another power vacuum and Pandora's Box open that might be even more dangerous than the ones the Bushies opened with their initial, unnecessary, and illegal invasion of Iraq.
All Americans, whether we want to admit it or not, and regardless of what party we identify with politically, are dangerously dependent on the oil and natural gas`reserves from the Gulf and Southwest Asia.
I just don't see any american president engaging in a preciptous withdrawal of troops from Iraq any time soon. In fact, given the stakes, I can see the American troop presence in the region having to increase in the years ahead. We need those energy supplies and we cannot, absolutely cannot, allow pakistan's nuclear weapons to fall into the wrong hands.
As a liberal Democrat who opposed the Iraq war, I'm starting to think we're stuck for a while.
And if I'm thinking that, and John McCain has good strategists, he's going to be able to clobber who's ever the Democratic nominee if he/she is constantly calling for an immediate or precipitous withdrawal of troops from Iraq.
This is really dicey stuff folks.
The Clinton's arrogant attitude of inevitability, discounting other voters and Obama's wins, and personally attacking him instead of the issues, then maybe we would hate the Clintons so much.

fact that Obama is going to be taking incoming fire from both McCain and Clinton . . . Is it time to look at the fact that McCain's chief strategist, Charley Black actually works for Mark Penn at Burson-Marsteller Worldwide . . . http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/graphic/2007/02/20/GR2007022000447.html (via Kausflies)
johnathon:

The last report I saw had Obama winning the popular vote (to date) by 925,197 votes.
It strikes me a lot when they talk about experience and stuff when they elected twice the dude(Bush) who knows nothing about the rest of the world as well as his own!!!
to Just asking in NY. Ive heard that BO  has donated to the campaigns of superdelagates more than clinton. I dont see anything wrong with him trying to help get dems elected. I note he also campainged for many dems running for office in 2006, including winners such as Jim Webb and Claire Mckaskil. Thats politics. I dont think basing ur support on even a max contribution from BO is a politically prudent reason for any of the superdelagtes to support him. In regard to the pressure being felt by some AA congressman to support BO, I think it should be noted that the pressure being exerted is not from the BO campaign but from unafilliated constituants. As can be observed from a review of these blogs, every candidate is guilty of having some overzealous supporters.

Jay Rockefeller is about as "establishment" as you can get.

His extraordinarily distinguished Senate career has made him truly one of our most senior statesmen.

This is perhaps not such a big deal to the rank and file voter who may not know much about Rockefeller other than his famous family name, but as a message to the power structure, it is huge.

Somebody turn out the last light left burning in the fading Clinton campaign.

So much for letting the voters decide.
The super delegates, the caucuses, the primaries in the small states, they all do not count! I have won New York (where I am the senator) and New Jersey (next door to New York) and Massachusetts and California. That makes me the nominee

That should make me the nominee
Please feel free to jump on the Obama Train , we have room for everyone.

YES WE CAN
The democratic party has lost their mind. All these people jumping on the band wagon is nuts. He joined foreign committee and said he was not running for president and has done nothing since he was put on committee. Now I know why we democrats lose so many elections. I will never vote for someone with his experience level. Look where that got with Bush. And you supporters act like he is not part of Washington because he attacks Hillary on this issue. He is a senator you know. Plus look who backs him they are all part of Washington. DAH! Kennedy, Kerry, and such. I have never seen so many gullible people.
I wouldn't feel secure with "Pimp Daddy B" in control of our military.

Whew!!!!, Daum, J. Merle, we thought we had lost ya there for a few days. Nice to see the Real You again.

Someone should come-up with this 3 am TV ad.
Ring, Ring
Caller - President Clinton Iran is arming a nuclear missile.
Clinton - Is this int. solid.
Caller - No but we got from an Iranian dissident.
Clinton - OK nuke them. I am getting back to sleep.
Oh this is good.

Hillary accepts a 170,000 donation from a company in Illinois that is being sued for brazen sexual harassment against its female employees and the owner of the company has a criminal record for attempted grand larceny and patronizing a prostitue. The number of women the EEOC has identified as possible victims of sexual harassment is 103. Although knowing about the charges and the owners criminal background the Clinton campaign is refusing to return the 170,000 saying that the sexual harassment suits are still pending. Like 103 women are lying about being sexually harassed. Well there you go all you blind female followerrs of Hillary. Don't worry, she'll be there for you through thick and thin, unless of course she needs a few more bucks for her campaign.
I so happy that obama win election.  he like jesus christ.  he so perfect.  he throw mccain out and all america come togethir. even jewish people I think obama's ass smell of roses.
The CHAIRMAN of the Senate INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE huh?
I guess that answers the big RED PHONE Controversy!
Imagine that?????
