Clinton donations from troubled firm

Posted: Friday, February 29, 2008 5:47 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Lisa Myers and Jim Popkin
Sen. Hillary Clinton has declined to return $170,000 in campaign contributions from individuals at a company accused of widespread sexual harassment, and whose CEO is a disbarred lawyer with a criminal record, federal campaign records show.

The federal government has accused the Illinois management consulting firm, International Profit Associates, or IPA, of a brazen pattern of sexual harassment including "sexual assaults," "degrading anti-female language" and "obscene suggestions."

In a 2001 lawsuit full of lurid details, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claims that 103 women employees at IPA were victimized for years. The civil case is ongoing, and IPA vigorously denies the allegations.

"This is by far, hands down, the worst case I've ever experienced," said Diane Smason, one of the EEOC lawyers handling the lawsuit. "Every woman there experienced sex harassment, they were part of a hostile work environment of sex harassment. And this occurred from the top down."

Sen. Clinton's spokesman, Howard Wolfson, told NBC News in a statement that the senator decided to keep the funds because the lawsuit is "ongoing" and because none of the sexual harassment allegations has been proven in court.

"With regard to the pending harassment suit, as a general matter, the campaign assesses findings of fact in deciding whether to return contributions," Wolfson said.

Maybe because she's married to a once disbarred lawyer, she doesn't think it's such a bad thing.

And while they're spouting about 'Hussein' and native garb, 'Weathermen', and Farrakhan, could we  remind folks of her summer job with a law firm that defended such radicals as the Black Panthers? And her corporate lawwork- during which she defended, successfully, a company  that had rat parts in their product? What a girl. Goldwater's gain was our loss.

Ironic that the mid-west, middle class white girl would be associated with defending the Black group that some would argue had a beef, and the African-American candidate is being smeared with being around
a couple of the former Weathermen, over-indulged white kids with way too much attitude and time on their hands. Did they ever go to class at the colleges their parents were paying for? I hated it then, I hate it now.
Hillary can you REJECT and DENOUNCE this cash.

Have some integrity
It gets worse than that.   On November 8th, 2001 Bill Clinton was paid $125,000 for a "speech" in front of International Profit Association in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

This is part of where the Clinton's $40 million (and counting) fortune that they got since leaving the White House came from.   Some of this money has been put into Hillary's campaign, which makes a nice end-run around campaign finance reform.

These are some of the speeches, including the IPA one.   Some of them are to even more interesting companies, including those that stood to benefit from bills that Hillary tried to introduce.

Who's the best?  Obama's the best.  Take a look you sad Clintonites and you'll see that Obama did more in 8 months then most senators do in a lifetime of service.  That's the kind of president I want working for me.

The following information gathered from the Library of Congress on the Legislative experience Junior Senator Hillary Clinton and Junior Senator Barack Obama. Please Feel free to check these records for yourself and draw your own conclusion.

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term, which is 6 years and another year campaigning, has authored and passed 20 twenty pieces of legislation in her term of six years into law. These bills can be found at (wwwhomas.loc.gov).  Senator Clinton has passed.

(1) Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
(2) Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
(3) Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
(4) Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
(5) Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
(6) Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea.
(7) Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
(8) Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
(9) Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
(10) Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
(11) Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
(12) Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
(13) Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
(14) Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
(15) Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.

Only five of Clinton's bills are, more substantive.
(16) Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
(17) Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
(18) Assist landmine victims in other countries.
(19) Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
(20) Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

She has a nice list, but note that these are The Fact's straight from the Senate Record; Therefore, it is not made up.

Now, It is time to post Senator Obama's record from the Library of Congress.I have to mention that Senator Obama's list is too substantive, one is coalesced to categorize. Since its alot, remember you can go to the Library of Congress website, and check it out yourself, but I am just summarizing his first 8 months.

During Senator Obama's first 8 eight months of elected service he sponsored over 820 bills.

He introduced 233 bills regarding healthcare reform,
125 bills on poverty and public assistance,
112 bills on crime fighting,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.
In his first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included:
(1)the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 that became LAW,
(2)The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act that became LAW, (3)The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act that passed the Senate,
(4)The 2007 Government Ethics Bill that became LAW,
(5)The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill that is in committee just to name a few.

In all since he entered the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no legislative record.  Read the facts and not emotion.

Bill Clinton isn't the CEO is he? (he matches the description)
Hillary has aided and abetted her sexualy abusive husband for years.  Just look up "Clinton bimbo squad" or "Clinton private investigators" to read multiple sources about how she has done things.  Perhaps Hillary was abused herself when she was young, I don't know and I should not try to play amateur shrink.  What is clear from the record is that this "woman's woman" is in fact always ready to slander the women involved when men she needs misbehave badly.

Look up Hillary's first big legal case where she smeared a 12 year old girl in defending an adult male against rape charges.

IPA is but more of the same.   How about denoucing and rejecting this money, eh Hillary?   You have more experience washing your hands of dirty money than any other national politician so just do it again.

There are only claims of sexual harassment not proof, maybe the Clinton Campaign turned the matter over to there expert on false sexual harassment claims and Bill said it was O.K. to keep the money.
This week it was revealed that Hillary once defended an accused rapist and harassed the innocent little girl that was raped. Now we learn that Hillary has declined to return $170,000 in campaign contributions from individuals at a company accused of widespread sexual harassment, and whose CEO is a disbarred lawyer with a criminal record.

So much for “Hillary the fighter”. What an embarrassment she has become.
This is exactly why that "reject and denounce" nonsense she insitgated and got cute with at the last debate was not the way to go.

Time and again, these tactics are pulled by the Clinton campaign always looking to hi-five and you go girl over some petty, viciscious piece of dirt they THINK they have on Sen. Obama, only to turn around and receive another tawdry slap in the face with one's own dirty laundry. You reap what you sow.
Well, I guess it only pays to be the champion of women when it is convenient.

Following in the footsteps of one of the messages over, I'll also take this opportunity to request that First Read talk to Chris Matthews about his overly bias reporting of the Democratic Presidential race. He seems almost incapable of giving a balanced assessment OR being equally hard on BOTH Democratic candidates.

Lately, it seems, he should just hang a Clinton banner behind him while on the air. Tonight's show focused almost completely on Clinton, including showing her latest TV ad 2-3 times (he did show Obama's once, however). When he did give air time to the Obama campaign, he chose to focus disparagingly on Obama encouraging folks at a rally to be good parents, set limits on their children, support kids in getting an education, and practicing good nutrition. I would think a message of self-reliance and responsibility is a good message, or a least a neutral message. But Chris Matthews had to question it...he couldn't even really make a clear point about why he was questioning it.

I like Chris, but it seems like he is trying to prove something...just can't figure out what that may be. I know he got slammed for predicting that Clinton's campaign may be over when it looked like she may lose New Hampshire. Is he trying to make up for that misjudgment now?

Sen. Clinton's funding: 6 figures from a corporate donor accused of widespread sexual harassment;

Sen. Obama's funding: 2-3 figures from 1 million
                     strong in 'public
                    funding'-We the People.
Yup…Hillary’s all about women and children:

In 1975 Hillary defended a rapist of a 12 year old child.  Part of Hillary’s defense of the rapist was to accuse the 12 year old girl of 'asking for it'.  The girl is now a woman.  She has been battling depression because of the rape her entire life.  I'm sure having a female lawyer (Hillary Clinton) telling her it's her own fault, didn't help her any.  At least the rapist got a light sentence so he can find another victim…hope it was no one you know or no one you know’s little girl.

So, play that caring woman card Hillary...I see a few blinded people that believe your tears.

This is just too much for Mrs Clinton! Doesn't this woman have any rational advisors who can tell her honestly to drop this campaign and try again later? McCain is 71 and still running, it's never too late. If she carries on like this, she is only burying all her legacy and Bill's too. Sad, sad ....
Eyes Wide Open in VA,

I totally agree with you on this. If Obama had taken that money, this would be something else that the mainstream media would try and tarnish his name over. I'm sure we won't here much about this on the other media outlets.
She's right to accept contributions from people who have not been proved guilty of anything, just accused.  Besides, if we are going to scrutinize every contributor on the basis of things having -0- to do with politics, contributions would be hard to come by.
Here is a link to a class action lawsuit alleging that International Profits Associates ripped them off:  "Plaintiffs claim that JOHN R. BURGESS, GREGG STEINBURG, KEN SWEET, TYLER BURGESS and JOHN OWEN’s actions in violation of the RICO statute and their fiduciary duties has cause them great harm which they intend to show to the court and the jury."

http://www.ipalawsuit.com/
Quoting Myer's & Popkin's article "In a 2001 lawsuit full of lurid details, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claims that 103 women employees at IPA were victimized for years. The civil case is ongoing, and IPA vigorously denies the allegations."

Let's see an old 2001 lawsuit that still has no findings of wrong doing by 2008 after 7 years???? Could it be that these allegations were bogus???? Could it be like most corporations that sexual harassment policies have long since been strengthened??? No mention of any actions that may have been taken since to improve the workplace.

The timing of this certainly smells of a gushing Obama biased media bent on deflecting the heat from Obama's NAFTA fiasco with the Canadians.

All the Clinton campaign said, according to this same article is that they would make a decision based on facts. In other words if there is something there they will do something about it. Seems like this article has twisted things a bit.

How about a little coverage of Rezko or the CTV (Canadian media) report about Obama telling Americans he would scrap NAFTA while telling the Canadians not to worry that he would do nothing with NAFTA???
Forget her 'strapped for cash', Hillary has had since at least 2001 to return the money.  She has also accepted rides on IPA's private jet, fund raisers at IPA's head John Burgess' home.

All of this is linked to John Burgess's lawyer Myron Cherry, who is "a person of interest" in the Rezko case.  Cherry's big case on his plate is now the multi-million dollar RICO case filed against Burgess  IN THE UNITED  STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF ILLINOIS EASTERN DIVISION by 40 plaintiffs.  IPA lost their motion to dismiss, and will lose on every count because the evidence is overwhelming.  You can check this out at ipalawsuit.com

There is no end to Hillary's connection to corruption.    And, yes, many other recipients of IPA's dirty money have returned it.  The list is long!

Whether or not Obama is the best thing for our country, it is absolute that the Clintons are NOT.
One Point:  Obama gave back the money from Rezzo, and rEZZO wasn't convicted yet.  It hasn't even gone to court yet.  I guess he has enough character and intellect to know when something stinks, before someone has to prove in court that something stinks!
And HILLARY is for WOMEN??????  An EEOC attorney says "it's the worst case of sexual harrassment she has ever seen"!!??  The EEOC doesn't file charges on a whim!  There are in depth investigation and detailed interviews for the EEOC TO EVEN GET INVOLVED.
How sad that Hillary doesn't walk to the walk for WOMEN...just does SPEECHES!!
Just another time you can't believe what she says...LIKE HER NOT RELEASING HER TAC RETURNS!  WHAT IS SHE HIDING??
Terre from Tulsa,

1) the CEO of the company, who has personally donated $16k of the $170k, is a disbarred lawyer WITH a criminal record so you're wrong on that one.

2) you should probably save your advice for Clinton campaign officials (including Hillary herself) for every time they bring up the Rezco thing which, as you put it, has 0 to do with politics.
She's probably already spent the money, so can't give it back.  Another example of the "experience" she brings to the office.  Willingness to ignore what you claim are your core values to win.  I'm ashamed to be of the same gender as Sen Clinton right now. She lost my support. This 50+ white woman will support Obama from here on out and sent him a check this morning.
Why aren't the major television networks reporting this story on television and cable news. I think that all Americans should be aware of the true character of this woman (Hillary). Do America want this person as it leader?
