Hillary calls Dem race civil and positive

Posted: Tuesday, March 04, 2008 12:12 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Athena Jones
HOUSTON -- As yet another round of crucial primaries in four states got underway Tuesday, Hillary Clinton said she was optimistic about the race and called this one of the most civil primary contests she could remember.

"I feel really good about today. We have a great campaign going on across Texas," she told reporters after greeting voters outside a polling site at a school here. "The voters of Texas are really focused on the two most important issues, national security and the economy, and I think there's going to be a tremendous turnout across Texas today. And I'm thrilled at what's happening in this campaign, what's happening in Ohio. It just feels really good,"

Clinton would not comment on whether she would compete in upcoming contests in Wyoming or Mississippi, saying instead she would focus on today. "This is a very close race and we're just taking it day by day. It's a long road to the nomination, and I feel good about where we are," she said, reminding reporters that her husband did not clench the party's nod until June. (Of course, her husband didn't begin his battle for the nomination nearly 12 months before the first contest like she did.)

When asked about the concerns of some Democrats that an increasingly negative race could damage the party's prospects in November, Clinton disagreed. "Maybe it's just because I've been involved in a lot of elections going back a long time. This is one of the most civil and positive campaigns that I can remember. There are contrasts, and it is imperative that those contrasts be drawn because voters in Democratic primaries have to decide who they think will be both the best president and the best nominee and you can't do that unless you put out your record and what the differences are," she said, before going on to reiterate her belief that the party would be unified and would win in the fall.

She would not comment on whether she should have begun drawing contrast with Obama earlier in the campaign.

Clinton said the Democratic race had reinvigorated the party in Texas. But she again raised questions about the caucus process, relevant today because Texas Democrats choose a third of the delegates in party conventions that take place later tonight. Clinton has long argued that caucuses are unrepresentative in part because of the strict time constraints placed on voters who want to take part in them. Today and at rallies here in the last few days, she has been sure to remind voters to take part in both the primary and the caucuses.

Over the weekend, Clinton backer and former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros urged supporters to make sure to caucus to avoid a situation in which the senator wins the popular vote but loses the caucus.

How does Hillary go back to her party after saying she and John McCain have the experience to be commander in chief and Obama doesn't?  It's one thing in a campaign to point out the difference between each other - but she should NEVER have said McCain is better than Obama.  If Barack does (hopefully) get the nomination, how does she backtrack - or will she endorse John McCain.  Typical Clinton tactics - when all else fails go negative and lie (Canada).
"Oh Barry we are not boneheads as are you, YOUR BEST friend REZKO BAD MAN!  You should be more experienced and wiser, you ARE JUDGED BY THE COMPANY YOU KEEP!!
BO has no credibility! "

Hillary has an ACTIVE law suit agaist her right now in California. The Justice Departement believe she committed voter fraud in her Senate comapaign. Google Peter Paul. Can anyone say "WHITEWATER", "IMPEACHED"
Patty,sd,ca please take off your hood it is cutting off the oxygen to your brain.
Does Hillary have any concept of reality?  This was a positive campaign?  I think she's finally cracked.
She has no shame.  Either she's lying or she's so delusional that she shouldn't be allowed near ANY phone at 3am.
Two things Clinton said recently confirms my thoughts that this race is just about Hilllary & Bill, their quest to continue their powerful dynasty(no matter who gets in  their way!) It's not about the needs of the American people. (Who worked as a corporate lawyer? Clinton; Who worked for the people as a community organizer for a church?  Obama)

The 2 worst things of all the nasty untrue things Clinton has said about Obama:
1.  "As far as I know, he is not a Muslum"  Wow, that is really convincing.  Let's just keep those rumors going, Hillary.  It's so American.

2.  "Sen McCain & I will base our campaign on our vast lifetime of experience.  Obama bases his on one speech in 2002."  Give me a break!  Is that a fairy tail??  Hillary is hoping to damage Obama & hurt him in the gen'l in Nov.  She thinks if Obama would lose, she can be the comeback kid in 2012.  Got news for you Hillary, Obama will win over McCain with his intelligence, integrity (something the Clintons greatly lack), ability to bring people together to actually get his detailed plans implemented and the support of Independent & new inspired voters.

If Clinton gets the nomination from the superdelegates who are too afraid to cross her, she will lose to McCain. As a lifelong Democrat, I will never vote for a Clinton.  Their true colors have come out...even with the press giving them a free ride on all the corruption (Whitwater, etc) in their administration.  Please Democrats, Independents & Republicans in Texas, Ohio, Vermont & RI...please see through the lies of the Clintons & vote for Obama...our hope for a government that serves the needs of the people, not the powerful!  God bless!
She's bipolar!

Uh, Susan from Dayton, I guess you don't remember Shirley Chisolm, Pat Schroeder or Elizabeth Dole.
It's still a Boys'Club. Msnbc obviously wants Obama to win. So he probably will. And the references to his wife as "Jackie Kennedy". Please, do you think his campaign managers did not plan it right down to the triple strand of pearls? Wake up America. Are you just sheep Following the wolf to slaughter?
Yes, civil as long as things are going her way. Now that she has the media back in line she is purring like a kitten.

This is so nerve-racking. I haven't been able to watch TV in 2 days. Mainly because every time I have on MSNBC or CNN it's a big Hillary fest. Right now I'm sticking to Daily Kos. It's a huge haven for Obama supporters with lots of great first person accounts of the voting situation today. Hearing lots of Republican crossover in both TX and OH but for Obama not Hillary.

I do think Hillary will pull through in OH and RI but VT is going to be a blow out for Obama and he'll take TX by as much as 10 points. Also, I read that Tom Brokaw is saying  up to 50 more superdelegates are planning to announce for Obama.

Should be an interesting evening.

Patty,sd,ca :'...A poll that MSNBC has shows that 25% of Hillary suporters will switch to McCain if this fool is the nominee...'

BYE, BYE !!
Don't go away MAD
Just GO AWAY

I would NEVER VOTE FOR CROOKED HILLARY !!
Better McCain the the Crooked Clintons
Character does matter !!

OBAMA forever, Clinton NEVER !!
I wonder how many people who say they are Hillary supportors who say that we had 8 years of an inexperiance president voted for George Bush during his Second Term?

Hmmm.... Hillary Clinton is just as inexperianced.  She doesnt bring anything to the table.
I'm a hillarly supporter, who will never vote for barack hussien.  I will either be a Democrat for McCain, a Nader Tater or a stay-at-home democrat.  Barack Hussien is nothing but a speech maker and I, for one, will not help him get to the Whitehouse.

GO HILLARY.  I have confidence in the people of Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island and Vermont to vote for Hillary because they know she's the best one for the job.
She is shameless.  This woman has no clue how most of America sees her.  I have even had Pro-Hillary types tell me they wish she would get off the negative path and get back to the issues.  Only a Clinton can spin the garbage she and her husband have created and call it "Civil".  They have done more to harm the Democratic party then the LBJ's involvement in Vietman or the Bay of Pigs invasion.  When will she get it that she cannot win the general election let alone the primany with her High negative numbers.  It is only her plan to bring Sen. Obama in the mudd with her that she even has a chance.  She is going down like a dot.com!
I am confused as to why Obama supporters are "depressed" and Clinton suporters are "happy".
Unless the Clinton political machine has brainwashed you with expectations; no one thought Obama would win Texas or Ohio a couple of weeks ago....but he might and even if he doesn't it is close enough that it won't matter.  So what if her campaign goes all the way to the convention....it is good for the economy and unless the Democratic party wants to destroy the party, then Obama will be the nominee.  The Press wants this to be a big deal cause it keeps people tuned in....but really this whole uproar is built on sand and smoke.
Of course Rush is backing Hillary....
Guaranteed 4 extra years of excellant radio broadcasting ahead if she wins.....
ACincinatti....Thank you!  I am sooo sick and tired of that darn Joe Scarbourough and that washed up Pat Buchanan acting like that feel sorry for Hills.  They keep pumping up her campaign folks prompting them to "throw the kitchen sink", kissing her campaigns manager's behind every morning.  I thought at one point they would be fair until I realized that most of them are republicans and they wish like HELL that Hills steals the nomination with the supers.  That's a sure win for John McCain.  Tim Russet and Brian Williams are the only ones that seems neutral.  Chris Matthews spits ferously while he is defending Hills.  It's almost like he wants to give Hills the SMACK DOWN title.  I don't know how the heck Meeka could work with that dismal loud mouth Joe.  Did they ever found out who killed that young woman in his office?  Since he wants to go sooo negative against Obama...Joe and Pat are ole school and are out of touch with the 21st century politics....go cover Martha Stewart or somebody, please....
High On Change,

Your right.  The Clinton News Network and MSNBC have gone into a Hillary love fest of late.  They just want to see this go on because it is good for their ratings and bank accounts.  She is more negative then even Bush was against Kerry.  She just makes stuff up to find a wedge because she has no real ideas of what or where to take this nation.  Now I finally get why the RNC has been beating her up for so long, she deserves it with the attitude she has shown in this election.  Oh by the way, looking at her how much they spent on donuts and food it is clear to see she has been getting her share of maple bars.
Obama takes texas and vermont, End of discussion
Come on guys...you know you want Hillary to win the nomination!! It's just for different reasons than the Republicans.  Imagine it,  months of Monica and Jennifer reruns.  Whitewater II, presidential lies caught on tape and CourtTV's special on sitting president testifying in court. And the new summer lineup - Bubba's Blondes.
Funny - this apology has not been televised by MSNBC OR CNN.  Please report all of the facts.

News from the Embassy of Canada

Statement by the Canadian Embassy

Washington, D.C., March 3, 2008 — The Canadian Embassy and our Consulates General regularly contact those involved in all of the Presidential campaigns and, periodically, report on these contacts to interested officials. In the recent report produced by the Consulate General in Chicago, there was no intention to convey, in any way, that Senator Obama and his campaign team were taking a different position in public from views expressed in private, including about NAFTA. We deeply regret any inference that may have been drawn to that effect.

The people of the United States are in the process of choosing a new President and are fortunate to have strong and impressive candidates from both political parties. Canada will not interfere in this electoral process. We look forward, however, to working with the choice of the American people in further building an unparalleled relationship with a close friend and partner.

In the Clinton's world they are the victims of a right wing conspiracy. The U.S. needs their extraordianary leadership and sole judgment on all issues.  That a mandate is something that someone else has to pay for.  The Iraq war was the bad man George Bush's fault. That anything good in the 1990's was their making anything bad was caused by the republicans. That 35 years of leadership is really just 6 plus but we are utlizing Clinton math so its 35. And of course this has been a positive campaign run with precision and sound utlization of resources. Oh how I long for a world where the U.S. is viewed as a moral and ehtical leader.  A world where our Democratic priciples and institutions are admired. A world where we utilize diplomacy first and military actions as needed to protect our national interests.Where war is not a first strike option but a measured response against acts of aggresion. A world where we utilze our resources to foster democracy not at the point of the gun but by the ideals of our forefathers. That fearmongoring is countereed by hope and a belief that we can as a country overcome any adversity through shared sacrifice.    I like this world better than the Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton world.
Shame shame  shame to all the Journalists, especially, MSNBC! What happen to fair and balance news and reporting?  Too bad Peter Jennings is gone, may God rest his soul, and Tom Brokam, if you can come back out of retirement, please do so.  Because the journalists of nowadays are failing to report the news as it should, without biases.  The only conclusion I have out of all these is that the media clearly hate to see a woman in power and it is afraid to press and question a black man.  Shame, and even more to women journalists.  I hope Hillary wins, for the better of the country.
Did I mention I live in a trailer an taat miself to right?

GO HILLARY.
Although I haven't seen it get much play, doesn't anyone have a problem with HRC accepting 170K from a disbarred attorney who is the main defendant in the biggest sexual harrassment case in US History?  All the other democratic canidates who got money from this scumbag returned it.  (Obama received 20K, he returned the 10K from the former attorny and kept the 10K from the wife)

Also what about TSE (I think that's his name) the guy that funnelled 10's of 1000's of dollars to HRC and the Clintons who is now in prison for money laundering.

HRC won't release her White House schedule, her phone logs, her tax returns.... I smell a rat.  What is she hiding...  her absolute lack of experience and her skimming what perks she could from her position of power?

This is what we want in the White House?

You blind lovers of HRC...go ahead and throw what stones you want at Obama, he is not your problem...HRC is.

She steals the nomination and I predict she will lose the election in a historical landslide and then all of you "lovers" of the Clinton Machine will blame the "vast right wing conspiracy" for her defeat.  LOL What a bunch of losers.  Get educated.  Find out who you are voting for...  HRC as supreme commander-in-chief who is for the "people: is an illusion in your own minds.  She cares only about herself.
Sierra, SF

Agreed.  If none of the other Clinton scandals had ever happened, I would still refuse to support her, because of the shameless way that they stole artwork from the White House after Bill's term ended.  No other President, Republican or Democrat, ever did that.  They initially refused to return it, and did so, only after the Justice Department ordered them to.

The Clintons are slime.  I will never support them again.

Obama in 2008
It's a sad day that Hillary had to resort to desperation tactics and negative campaigning!  She DOES NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE!  She was the first lady for God's sakes, but won't release any of her records as it will show she didn't do anything during her days in the White House!  Barack has run a clean campaign!  If he wanted to, he could attack her on all of the things that went wrong during their tenure, but he is classy and a gentleman and he does not need to resort to such dirty tactics, unlike her to smear him in regards to Muslim which is totally false as he's been a Christian for 20 years and Rezko which she took donations from and had a picture taken with the man!  What a hyprocrit!  If she steals the nomination, I will not vote for this cheat and liar!  Disgusted!
Is Barack even campaigning anymore? If you watch the MSNBC coverage, all you see are clips on Hillary on the trail. I guess that once again they just caved under the Clinton pressure. Maybe they should apologize to her again too.

Shirley Chisholm was a more recent woman candidate who ran for president in the Democratic primaries. She was a great woman, unfortunately way ahead of her time.
Oh yes, any negativity is Hillary's fault.  Did you know that the Irish Potato Famine was also her fault.  She also caused the Great Depression and WWI, II and the Korean War.

Obama went negative before NH.  I don't blame him, becuase negative campaigning is part of the process.  I just wish the "Obama can walk on water crowd" would recognize that it takes two to tango.

Regardless of who you support, just vote today if it is your turn.

Hillary 08
VOTE SMART.. VOTE HILLARY
Also, as a white, 50 year old woman, I proudly voted Obama on Feb. 5th.
The women who vote for Hillary solely based on her vagina are the most irresponsible and clueless people.  I guess that is what age does to people since her followers wear bengay for perfume and can't walk across the street without a walker.
Tracy DODD of MD,  YOU have a, I don't have a clue problem.  What you have said is wrong and racist.  YOU can go back in your hole with your hood.  Slander? is that all you idiots know.  Grow up and get wise.  No one, but fools, believe the crap people like you say.  Vote for McCain and be happy.

The rest of us will vote for Barak Obama

Grover - yes there are many Dems who will vote for McCain if Oblahma is the nominee.
Obama and his supporters have run a very dirty campaign against Hillary and Edwards and their supporters - but now want everyone to join hands with Oblahma.
ha!
I wish that someone would really make the case that if Sen. Obama had lost 11 contest in a row and was saying that just by winning two states (big or small), that he'd be back in it - EVERYONE would LAUGH at him.  It seems to be unfair that such an open door is being given to Sen. Clinton.  I voted for her, but it's amazing to see the media trying to compensate for it's bias, by just allowing her to defy odds that if any other person faced them, they'd be forced out.  WOW!  Way to go guys!
I'm ready for a black president - but not THIS black president!
Kennedy, Daschle, Kerry - who couldn't win the presidency - now have their "boy".
Oblahma couldn't resist involving Rezko in his house deal - even KNOWING Rezko was the target of a federal investigation.
Obama is a weak man.
OK Olivia then she is not responsible for NAFTA...make up your mind.  Either she is responsible for NAFTA and has the experience or she is not and does not have the experience.  BTW Barry says she does if you cannot decide for yourself
Common folks lets be sensible here. This is an election process and so spin, lies etc matter. Hillary is winning the war of attrition and the earlier Obama gets it going the better. As for the Dem party nomination it is highly improbable that HRC will get it but she is definately writing the blueprint for the GOP com Nov.
once again- it is taken out of context. Hillary did not say the campaign was positive. She said that in comparison to many others it was positive. That is the truth. Compared to the smear that George W. ran against Ann Richards, planting photos of gay men, etc. This has not been a bad race.
incidently, Obama is not exactly squeaky clean.
Civil?  Shame on you Hilarious Clinton!
Why did Obama CHOOSE to involve Rezko with his house deal?
Even while Rezko was under federal investigation - Obama and Rezko toured Obama's home together before he bought it.
Obama says involving Rezko was a "mistake" - but he made the same "mistake" 6 months later via transaction with Mrs. Rezko.

So - Obama has done nothing wrong - but clearly showed BAD judgment AFTER he became a senator.

Hillary has already made history. She is the first woman to ever win a presidential primary. Of course, that has never been publicized.
Gorver, middlesex Tx. Go take a look at the library of Congress. Although Obama has been in the senate 4 years less than Hillary, he has sponsored or co sponsored a lot more bills than she ever has. His bills are also filled with substance and teeth. Don't take my word or Obama's or Hillary's word for it. Go look for yourself. If American's did more research on candidates before they vote we would never have had a George Bush. Look before you speak such things. The truth is Hillary is the one who has more words than substance.
Again judge for yourself AFTER you look at it for yourself. Don't believe anyone. There is too much at stake here.
I guess that is what age does to people since her followers wear bengay for perfume and can't walk across the street without a walker.
*************
Diane and others who feel the need to post this kind of trash, is it really necessary? It doesn't make your candidate look more appealing.
We as a nation will get the goverment we deserve!
I too am a Hillary Supporter and will also vote for McCain if Senator Obama gets the nomination. I very much like and respect Mr. Obama however as previous posts have pointed out...the man has zero experience and I would put this country in the hands of Mr. McCain before handing it over to Mr. Obama...(and if the far right have a problem with McCain then he must be ok.)
HP Boston:'...Oh Barry we are not boneheads as are you, YOUR BEST friend REZKO BAD MAN!...'

Rezko ?
Isn't he the guy in the picture with Slick Willie and Crooked Hillary ?
Did Rezko swindle investors at Whitewater ?
Did Rezko make a ';winndfall' profit on cattle futures ?
Did Rezko rape Juanita Broddrick ?
Did Rezko rape Kathleen Willey ?
He IS a BAD MAN !!
(what is the meaning of 'is' ?)

Susan, Dayton, OH: '...What a great day this is!  At 6:42 this morning, I proudly cast my vote for the first woman ever to run for President...'

If not the first, surely the most crooked
Are you hoping for 'His and Her' Impeachments ?

No Hillay ! Now Way !
Dykes go back to Holand !!
Clinton and her feminist army are scary as hell.
Obama has run a maybe the most respectful and honest campaign I've ever seen in American politics.  And yet the people you would think would appreciate that the most, women, are going to vote for a manipulative, lying fear-monger because they happen to be the same gender.  Ladies, you should be proud.
