McCain talks foreign policy, again

From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy
SAN ANTONIO -- After attacking Obama on Iraq early last week and both Obama and Clinton later in the week over relations with Canada, McCain continued his foreign-policy-all-the-time campaign strategy in a brief appearance here this morning.

Speaking to a few hundred supporters at the Mi Terra bakery, McCain took his audience on a sprawling tour of the world's problems, repeatedly reminding them "we are in a dangerous world."

"I'm running for president of the United States because I believe we face a transcendent challenge of radical Islamic extremism, and we face a very dangerous world," he said, using a common line from his stump speech to begin his survey of world affairs.

He then began almost 10-straight minutes of foreign policy and military talk -- ranging from Israel's conflict with Hamas to the Venezuelan government's assistance of the FARC in Columbia, to the recent Russian elections and of course Iraq. The only detour on McCain's trip around the world was a brief interlude on his favorite domestic issue: ending government waste.

Somehow in the end, McCain tied all of the world's problems into America's involvement in Iraq saying, "So we live in a dangerous world, and I believe that the center of that, obviously now rests in Iraq."

"It's tough and it's long and it's hard," McCain said, referring to the war as he began another tour of the Middle East. "It's tough and long and hard, but what's at stake here my friends is of such enormous consequences, not only in Iraq but also in the region. And while I'm talking about it, my friends, there're tough times in Afghanistan… There's a lot of difficulties, as you know, and challenges in Pakistan today. So we are in a dangerous world."

If he would run against Hillary he could do the Hokey-Pokey and win the election. That would is so well-hated across America ... she is polarizing which means there is a significant core that loves her despite or because of all the Clinton scandals. That polarized force will not be able to withstand the Republican/Independent/Democratic opposition it forges.

I - as a life long Democrat - would vote for a republican president and congress if we would nominate this person.
Where have I heard these lines?  Sounds suspiciously to me like a line from the movie The American President and you sir (McCain) are no Michael Douglas!
McCain's foreign policy.... "My friends (?),
What does the word bomb mean to you? You get it? You got it? Good!
Let's take McCain on a sprawling tour of the country. The poor in N.O. are still hurting; the infrastructure hasn't improved significantly since the one collapsed; gas will hit $4 in a couple months; the subprime catastrophe is sabotaging our economy; states are suing each other for water; boomers are starting to retire; gang violence is increasing etc.

McCain has a long term vision (100 years long) of Iraq but is blind to the domestic troubles we face - unless a lobbyist buddy is asking for his intervention.
Since Huego Chavez supports Obama,  I guess we need to hear Barrack denounce the use of the Military by Venezuela, or is the great diplomate incapable of taking any side of any isssue except that he wants to invade Paskistan.

McCain is the steady hand we need at the wheel.

The Hillary supporters are absolutely delusional to believe Hillary could beat McCain.  She has shown no ability to win Independents, she would energize the conservative Republicans to come out in force, and no one can argue with a straight face that "Clinton Republicans" (is there such a thing?) will come close to outnumbering McCain Democrats.  Purple states will become red and blue ones will become purple.  He is the only Republican in that field that could have done this.  A Clinton nomination will ensure the perfect confluence of events for the Republicans to hold the White House in a year when it seemed like a foregone conclusion that the Dems would get it.  Her supporters see the Democratic nomination as the end game, but the nomination will be worthless if she wins it, and they'll realize in November that the PRESIDENCY that they lost (again) is what matters.
The price for electing McCain will be ultimate destruction of US economy. But this may not be an issue for this 70+ old, and his aged electorate as well.
be afraid, be very afraid

we have nothing to fear but fear itself

Your Choice.
Well there Johnny me boy...you creepy repukes can only ride the fear train so long before the wheels fall off...the world is NOT as dangerous as you would make it out to be, in fact it is only more dangerous since you and bush started attacking everyone but those who caused 9/11...you might scare the chickenhawks in your party but the rest of us aren't weenies looking for the next boogeyman
They're not called 'dittoheads' for nothing. Looks like Texas local office elections might be blue(LOL)

quote from bsmith:
It's hard to know how seriously to take things like Rush Limbaugh's call on his listeners to vote for Hillary as the only hope for GOP victory in the fall; there's not much evidence that people ever cast tactical votes like that in meaningful numbers.

Still, an interesting report from a reader in Dallas:
On the local conservative radio stations, many Republicans are calling and complaining about feeling “disenfranchised”.
Apparently, they didn’t realize that by implementing Rush Limbaugh’s strategy of voting for Hillary in the Primaries to prolong the Democrats fist-fight, they would not be allowed to vote for any of the Republicans on the rest of the ballot.
McCain is a failure. He goes around saying hes a conservative yet hes the farthest thing from it, and wants to continue in Iraq for another 100 years. This world is dangerous, and considering China is the country that holds us up financially i'd be worrying about them instead of third world nations that dont even have an airforce or navy.

And in the end it all comes back to that one problem. You can find a million good reasons for Iraq and they're all irrelevant; we simply do not have the money.

The Canadian dollar is worth more than the American now.

Hillary will be able to handle what ever the world throws at us, and after W. I feel it'll be alot. She is the only one to beat McCain. Obama has already given us to much baggage. I ask him to drop out so we have a nominee to keep the GOP out of office.
Honestly, the ONLY "Thing" Mccain talks about is radical Islamic extremism. This guy is sickening me to my stomach. We have terrible economy. Gas is almost at $ 4.00 a gallon, and all he can talk about is radical Islamic extremism. Can any reporter tell him please let's talk about millions of people who lost their jobs in Ohio and throughout the nation. I feel like we are giving him a free pass to talk about that bull...radical Islamic extremism. What the true issues. Please midia, let's do a better job that, I am tired of that guy political view on thing. Four years ago against Bush he was nothing and now there is contender in the republican race he's gotten a free ride. If that's all he has to offer then what doesn't take General Petreus's Job. I am sure he would have won the war in Iraq already. That guy is annoying as if he can't see the true reality that American people are facing. We are losing our jobs, our homes, health-care and education. I am tired of hearing about radical Islamic extremism. That is all he talks about. He bothers with his views.
As a yellow dog I would hate to see McCain in office. But he would be better than Obama. My only hope of having my vote count is if it is Hillary.
I have to agree with the consensus that McCain can't devastate Hillary in the General election, but what irks me is that she would have to garner a "WIN" in these last primaries to get the numbers for the Dem nomination.

Now what do you think that would do to her "ego"???  Christ, we would have to put up with more of her and her husband's "crap."

I agree, McCain would most likely "coast" to a win over Hillary.  WHAT THAT WOMAN NEEDS, IS "TOTAL" HUMILIATION.  Of course, losing to McCain would give her that, but at a later time, and leave her with another "chance" to perpetuate the "comeback kid" myth, in 2012.

Her come-upance, should happen NOW, proving what a loser she really is, by not succeeding in her last ditch effort to change the tide of wins, against her.

Obama can give her that loss NOW,,,,,, and that is what she deserves, for staying with that abomination of a man she is married to, yet????? That man has done more, single handed, to circumvent the moral teachings of all parents, and the Constitution, and the order of law is puts before us. This is why teen girls now openly utilize the oral sex act, as a way of avoiding coitus, with a date.  "THE PRESIDENT SAID, THIS IS NOT HAVING SEX",,,, what a "crok of s__t, for a President to be used as an example to let our youth, flaunt our moral teachings back in our faces.......

SHE NEEDS TO BE "PUT DOWN" FOR WHAT HER HUSBAND HAS DONE FOR THIS COUNTRY'S MORAL CHARACTER.....

Sorry, just one man's opinion, with best regards to the future of our species.
"So we live in a dangerous world, and I believe that the center of that, obviously now rests in Iraq."
--Honestly, that's kind of a sad state of affairs if that is where the GOP has lead us.

--I genuinely respect Sen. McCain, but I do not think that I could bring myself to support via vote a candidate who cannot articulate some end to the hypothetical that Iraq does not improve, anymore than I could support via vote a candidate who brings divisiveness and animosity to the office.

--It is a dangerous world because of the policies we have employed.  I believe that Sen. Obama is the only candidate who offers smart change to several of those policies.
Did he sing: 'Bomb, bomb, bomb   Bomb, bomb Iran'

It's REAKLLY COOL
I think he has a dance that goes along with his little song.....

100 years of war...
3:00 AM telephone call to the White House for President McCain.

President McCain wakes up and has 1 minute telephone call.

President McCain then calls the Secretary of Defense.

His instructions:

Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

President McCain then goes back to bed.
why did you enter 2 letters from frank tuesday if your space is so valuable.it sounds like you are a bleeding liberal.
Last night on Olberman, Racheal Maddow was asked about a statement Hillary had made or about the 3am AD.Her response to Kieth struck me as very Odd. She said Hillary's remark's or 3am Ad were coming from someone that was running to be Mccain's VP. Maybe Hillary is transforming back to her Original Republican dress.Right down to the Cowgirl Outfit!

Let's hope the voter's of Texas, Ohio, Vermont &Rhode Island see Hillary for what she is, It's all about Me, baby, SCREW YOU!
All McWar has to do is choose Billary as his VP. Thats what they said on CountDown last night!
Let's see When was the last time McCain talk about poverty, Economy, Katrina, and Education. My guess the terrists are responsible for all of that. When we defeat the terrists, (which we should)in a McCain White House all of these issues poverty, Economy, Katrina, and Education well all go away.

They all have baggage just like we all do.  We're human's remember?  That said,  I support Obama, in spite of his flaws.  He's the best guy, willing to take on the job, that this country has seen for a long long time.  If the American people go for Clinton or McCain it will be a sorry indictment on our society.

HP in Boston in her usual stupid style shows us why we need a WOMAN like Hillary Clinton.....

Talk about baggage, Hillary Clinton has more baggage then the Queen of England AND Paris Hilton combined.

While she awaits the Rezco trial, I await the Celis trial here in Corpus Christi......

Another Obama V Hillary moment about to appear!

The only way for Hillary to win the nomination now is to have a full fledged hissy fit cry me a river moment on the stage at the convention.

It doesn't matter who you libs pick....
John McCain will win the election....
And then you libs can sit back and destroy each other over who's fault it was!
Frank:'...I - as a life long Democrat - would vote for a republican president and congress if we would nominate this person...'

Frank, I understand the first part...
Not voting for Clinton

But, if we have a Republican President.... we'll NEED a Democratic Congress to put curbs on McCain

Hopefully, thwy won't approve a war with Iran
No matter what McCain says....

If Hillary steals the nomination....
SPLIT THE TICKET
BUT VOTE FOR A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS

But, don't worry Frank.... she WOM'T WIN THE NOMINATION !!

The Democrats need to wrap this nomination process up, because 'poor Old Man' McCain is pushing national security as his stiech.  Hillary can't complete to John McCain on national security based on experience.  An inexperienced public official such as Hillary can't claim superior national security experience over an ex-navy captain, Vietnam-POW with multiple congressional awards, and current ranking-member Republican of the Armed Forces committee.  It is a recipe for failure.  However, Obama can approach national security from a different angle than Clinton can.  McCain only has to reinforce Hillary's strong support of the war initially, and then call her a cowardly flip-flopper who denounced Gen. Betraeus's surge efforts last year, and then Hillary will be done.  The only thing that could save Hillary vs McCain is if the economy went from recession to depression prior to Nov. 4th.

Obama in 08!
We must defend our country from the invasion that would happen if Hillary or Barack is elected. At the same time we must take care of our on economic issues.

John Mcain is the man for the job.
Clinton will get crushed by McCain
MSNBC post the truth about all these negative claims Hillary is making against Obama.  That is your obligation to your viewers.  I am on the verge of giving up on your network all together.  Please read and post.

Clinton Says Obama Was MIA on Afghanistan. But Was She, Too?
In the past few days, as Hillary Clinton has intensified her attacks on Barack Obama prior to the all-important primaries in Ohio and Texas, she has claimed that he has been "missing in action" regarding Afghanistan. Clinton has been trying to make the case that she's better prepped than Obama to be commander-in-chief and more qualified to answer the phone at 3:00 a.m. when crisis strikes. To prove her point, she notes that Obama, who chairs a foreign relations subcommittee covering European matters, has held not one hearing on how to bolster NATO in Afghanistan. This weekend she told reporters on her campaign plane that he has failed in a "responsibility that is directly related to Afghanistan." She urged the journos to grill Obama on this. She said that Afghanistan is "one of the two most important challenges internationally." And she added, "I think he was missing in action...because he was running for president."

Senator Joe Biden, has held several hearings on Afghanistan that covered NATO's role there. It's not as if the foreign relations committee did nothing on Afghanistan because Obama did not take on the mission. Also, as happens with many committees, the chair of the full committee reserves the right to handle the big issues him- or herself, and Afghanistan counts as a big issue.

Clinton ought to be careful about hurling stones in this area. As she always tells campaign crowds, she is a member of the Senate armed services committee. In February the committee held two hearings on Afghanistan. On February 8, it focused on appropriations for U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates was a witness. Eight days later, the committee zeroed in on U.S. strategy in Afghanistan, holding a two-part hearing examining recent reports on Afghanistan. Clinton attended neither of these hearings. She was on the campaign trail.

Many hearings occur on Capitol Hill without all members--or even a majority of members--of the committee in attendance. In fact, that's more common than not. At plenty of hearings, the committee chair is the only senator or representative present. So it's no surprise or scandal that Clinton was not there for these two Afghanistan hearings. (She did participate in two hearings on Afghanistan held by the committee in the first half of 2007.) But in a campaign season, a spinner could easily say that she's guilty of the same charge she tosses at Obama: putting presidential campaigning ahead of Afghanistan. Her neglect, certainly, is not the same as his: he held no hearings for a year; she attended no hearings this year. But as Clinton throws the kitchen sink at Obama, she ought to make sure nuts and bolts don't bounce back at her.

Really makes no difference who wins the Democratic nomonation  for when the voter goes into the booth on election day....this country is not yet ready for a black man for president or a woman and will not vote that way.  The dems really had a chance to win the white house this time and blew it with their canadiates.
One attack between now and November and it all will be about national security and (more) war. Hillary had no opposition to the war and no credibility when it comes to critizing the invasion of Iraq. The American People would turn away from the woman with the many faces (and hair styles). Calm leadership is an alternative to McCain - not a person who is 'finding her voice' at age 60.

OBAMA'08
Yeah, I'll bet they really cared about listening to Juan McCain druel on about his delusional veiw of world politics. They were probably wondering how they could possibly make rate for the rest of the day!
http://twocanpete.blogspot.com
My fellow Americans, it is true that we are in a dangerous world and face a radical Islamic movement, including those that follow the hate mongers like Farrakhan. McCain is old, Obama has no experience or stand and Hillary is polarizing and unellectable. The choice will be between McCain, a war hero who has reached over to the left crossing his own party lines (centrist), or Obama an eloquent orator with no track record, few plans and an extreme left wing following. Givin this limited choice can this country afford to let the Pelosi, Kennedy, Kucinich, Jackson, Hastings extreme left beleive they have a mandate by electing Obama.
Another bias....ask yourself if a man running for President had a wife who repeatedly had sexual relations with other men while he looked the other and even demonized the men involved would even have a snowball's chance?
[quote from bsmith:
...there's not much evidence that people ever cast tactical votes like that in meaningful numbers.
--I think this likely correct.  I mean, the daily Kos didn't contribute too much toward a Romney victory now did it?  Besides, there will be a multitude more Democrats voting than Republicans to muddying up the works, and the Repub's few numbers just won't matter.  Finally, recent events have proven that very few people actually listen or do what Mr. Limbaugh speaks.  Conservatives actually have an important election of their own right now.

...they would not be allowed to vote for any of the Republicans on the rest of the ballot.
--Ha ha!  I love stupid people.
Marbw]
I think just never having to hear the phrase "my friends" again is a sufficient enough reason not to vote for him.
[[Speaking to a few hundred supporters at the Mi Terra bakery, McCain took his audience on a sprawling tour of the world's problems, repeatedly reminding them "we are in a dangerous world."]]

He ought to know.  McCain is one of the people responsible for making it more dangerous. Vote McCain: More War. Fewer Jobs.
OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE TRASHING HILLARY CLINTON SIGNS IN TEXAS .AT POLLING PLACES AND PRIVATE HOMES.
"we are in a dangerous world."

If that isn't a convincing argument to make it more dangerous, what is? You go, McWar!

"an extreme left wing following."

Anything to the left of Attila the Hun is "extreme left" to the Fox news crowd.
Can you imagine a presential talk as the announcer introduses the president by saying..and now the President of the United States of America...Barrak Hussien Obama...do you believe this?  It could happen but I think not.  Wow I do not care what you say that is a scarey thought.
McCain seems to have one message fear!!!!
Let's look at the three finalists.....

McCain:  Navy academy graduate
Obama:  Harvard law School
Clinton:  Wellesley girl

McCain:  Shot down over North Vietnam
Obama:  Shot down in first election
Clinton:  First health care plan shot down

McCain:  Tortured by North Vietnam
Obama:  Tortured by Hillary
CLinton:  Tortured by her husband

McCain:  caught up in S & L problems of the 80's
Obama:  caught up in Rezco trial
Clinton:  Too many criminal activities to mention

McCain:  McCain/Kennedy immigration act
Obama:  Not too much to say
Clinton:  five answers to drivers license question

McCain:  Too many years of experience
Obama:  Just enough experience
Clinton:  questionable 35 years of experience

McCain:  Picks up the phone on the first ring
Obama:  Asks why Hillary never picked up the phone
CLinton:  "WHO THE &^%$ IS CALLING ME AT 3 A.M.?

I think the choice is clear....
John McCain
McCain's got John Hagee's support: a fundamentalist nutball who called the Catholic Church "a whore," who thinks got hit New Orleans with Hurricane Katrina because they were having a gay pride celebration there. He also wants to start a new war in the Middle East so that Jesus will come down and smite the sinners and "rapture" up all the believers into heaven. Hagee's a nut, but he's smart enough to see that McBomb is likely to give him his war. Bomb bomb bomb Iran!

Randy E (SC) -- well if you want to get that critical of McCain, you should probably critique his senate performance then, since the President is held accountable, though is not responsible for half the things you mentioned. So instead of explaining why McCain wouldn't be able to handle those issues as President, maybe you should explain why HE, HILLARY, and OBAMA haven't been able to get legislation moving to improve those issues.

Congress has the power to fix everything you brought up. So all three of them are equally accountable NOW.
I hope the American people don't fall for all this bull on ,"its a terrible world out there".  If its so terrible than get serious about all the uncontrolled immigration with a national id system that would help stop drug running, illegals, etc, have a national agenda to get new fuel sources so you don't play ball with wrong countries, stop funding America's day to day operations with borrowed money, enforce our trade agreements so we don't continue to devalue the dollar for the benefit of multi-national corporations. Solutions are there but do all American's have the same goals,  I don't think so!! Uniting behind war has always been a short sighted gain.
It is clear that McBush's fondest wish is to be a War President. His fondest wish is to improve our "stats" and erase the stain of Vietnam rather than learn from it. It is clear from his Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran sick joke that he has only been on the button end of the bombing experience as opposed to the "defecating in your pants while your family is turned to hamburger in front of your eyes" experience of the often regretted "collateral damage" done as we attempt to "save" villages and towns by destroying them.
Oh bother the domestic agenda! He has a war or two to fight again and this time he will get his payback.
I honestly can't believe some of the nonsense that has been written in these comments. They talk about McCain like he is the devil yet have no mention of the scandals the Clintons have been involved in. Also they ignore the fact that Obama has no accomplishments what so ever. He is a pacifist and is ready to dismantle our missle defense system, discontinue weapon development, and will not continue to build nuclear weapons. Understaning this would be great if anyone believed the rest of the world would do the same but that is asinine. Does anyone believe Ronald Reagan could have won the cold war with this idiotic thinking. Obama has been linked with muslim radicals, racist extremist, and liberals that want to give everbody everthing (free college, free medical, etc. Someone tell me who is going to pay for it. If people aren't scared to death of this guy they are either stupid or totally uninformed.
