McCain talks foreign policy, again

From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy
SAN ANTONIO -- After attacking Obama on Iraq early last week and both Obama and Clinton later in the week over relations with Canada, McCain continued his foreign-policy-all-the-time campaign strategy in a brief appearance here this morning.

Speaking to a few hundred supporters at the Mi Terra bakery, McCain took his audience on a sprawling tour of the world's problems, repeatedly reminding them "we are in a dangerous world."

"I'm running for president of the United States because I believe we face a transcendent challenge of radical Islamic extremism, and we face a very dangerous world," he said, using a common line from his stump speech to begin his survey of world affairs.

He then began almost 10-straight minutes of foreign policy and military talk -- ranging from Israel's conflict with Hamas to the Venezuelan government's assistance of the FARC in Columbia, to the recent Russian elections and of course Iraq. The only detour on McCain's trip around the world was a brief interlude on his favorite domestic issue: ending government waste.

Somehow in the end, McCain tied all of the world's problems into America's involvement in Iraq saying, "So we live in a dangerous world, and I believe that the center of that, obviously now rests in Iraq."

"It's tough and it's long and it's hard," McCain said, referring to the war as he began another tour of the Middle East. "It's tough and long and hard, but what's at stake here my friends is of such enormous consequences, not only in Iraq but also in the region. And while I'm talking about it, my friends, there're tough times in Afghanistan… There's a lot of difficulties, as you know, and challenges in Pakistan today. So we are in a dangerous world."

McCain better come up with more then one issue to run on for President. The Amercian people, left, middle and some on the right are going to get real tired of hearing the same chest beating the surge is working comment over and over again during the general election. Can't wait for a McCain / Obama debate. Let's see what McCain has to say about the economy and domestic policy issues. I did not mention a McCain / Hillary debate. She would claim she has more experience on foreign policy then McCain and then put out ads answering a white phone after it rings 6 or 7 times and then get swamped by McCain with her 49+ negative ratings with the Amercian people. So we'll just leave her out of the equation. And then Obama can explain to McCain one more time when baited with his debate comments that he would protect American interests if forced too in Iraq after a troop withdrawal by stating read my lips donkey breadth, no one said anything about putting troops back into Iraq. There are other more effective ways to eliminate a terrorist base in Iraq without having to send in troops to act as policemen. Believe me, Obama will be ready for McCain on this issue. And if need be Obama might ask McCain how is it he (McCain) is such a tough man when he allowed Bush and his campaign to abuse and smear his own wife in the SC 2000 primary race yet kissed the guys butt for the last eight years. I'd like to hear the explanation for that?
"If the other Democrat candidate gets the nomination, I'll vote for McCain!" Well, that talk basically seals the Deal for McCain. Neither Obama or Clinton can win unless the party unites.

100 years of war in the works!
100 years of war!
Day by day, America pays,
99 years of war in the works!
And Hussein has Farrakan's support.  Notice BO's words, "I reject Farrakan's anti-Semitism"  Notice he didn't say he rejected the Nation of Islam or Farrakan.  Get real folks.  BO is a shrewd calculating politician, who would freak if the tough decisions were his to make.
To all the venomous posters, its time we all grew up. I could vote for Obama or McCain, I like them both. They are both dedicated Americans trying to do what they think is right for our country. This non stop fighting has got to end. Its destroying the country as well as the parties. Listen to what obama is saying. He is right, we need to get over these political food fights and attend to the matters at hand. Just look at the Roger Clemens parade. We have nothing better to do than this? Come on people lets grow up.
I have been watching in disbelief as the Clintons continue to use a say and do "anything" tactic to win the Democratic Presidential Primary.  There actions are despicable and I for one will never ever again vote for a Clinton.

Clinton's first campaign manager used the stereotypical racist ploy of trying to signal to white voters that Obama was and/or still is a drug user.  He knows that white America labels blacks as the typical drug user though many more whites use drugs than blacks.  This is racist America.  Bill Clinton used the "race card" in South Carolina by signaling to whites to remember that Obama is "black" when he made the comments that Jesse Jackson also won South Carolina in the 80's.  If it wasn't about race then why didn't Bill Clinton make the same comparison of others who won races in the 80's to those of his wife?

Hillary then used the "sympathy card" in New Hampshire when she thought she was about to be out of the race early and then right afterwards came out of that race as the same "ruthless" candidate that many have been telling me for years that she is.

Since then she has lost 11 straight contests, which prompted her to accuse Obama of plagiarism.  The facts has shown that every candidate, especially Hillary, routinely uses the words and phrases of those before and currently around them.  It was absolutely a ridiculous claim, yet the media did not jump all over her about that.

When that didn't stick someone in her campaign (as reported by a Drudge reporter) sent pictures of Obama dressed in native African garb to the media with the intent of portraying Obama as a muslim (to show him as being anti-semitic, and/or at the least a terrorist sympathizer) and still the media did not jump all over Hillary Clinton.

She has further mocked him, bellittled him, lied about his positions and campaigns and even in the last debate decried that their is media bias against her.  She even yet again played the "gender card" at the last debate by proclaiming this race a "sea-change" for women.  Signalling to women that they need to stand-up for women rights and stop this horrible treatment of women.

Wow!  Imagine what society would have said and done if Obama had played the race and gender card or engaged in any of the dirty and horrible tactics that "Billary" has engaged in.  We all know that he would have been "put out to pasture."  Imagine further how we would be treating Obama if Hillary had won 11 straight contests.  Yet somehow Hillary is a victim and has been treated unfairly by the media.

I have been a Clinton supported and a huge fan for many years, but I am no longer.  I do not believe that even seeking the Presidency of the United States should be a reason or excuse for saying and doing absolutely anything irrespective of the consequences.

I am no longer a supporter or fans of the Clintons and I will never ever support one again.
jerry,
did you vote Republican or follow the dittoheads?
Ohio State Director Paul Tewes:

Our campaign’s goal today is to ensure that any registered voter in the state of Ohio can go to the polls and cast their ballot for their candidate of choice without interference.  We understand that the Clinton campaign may want to depress turnout because Barack Obama has closed a 20-point gap over the course of this month as voters across the state got to know him.

It has been the hallmark of the Democratic party to educate and protect the rights of voters.  If the Clinton campaign disagrees with that principle, they should say so today.

We have received reports from around the state of independents and Republicans who chose to vote in the Democratic primary receiving issue only or Republican ballots instead of the Democratic ballot they were entitled to.   We have also had reports that the voter ID requirements have been misstated at various locations, causing some voters to be turned away.

We will take action when necessary to ensure that all eligible voters are able to cast their votes and to have their votes counted.

We will continue to monitor the polls to ensure that all Ohioans who choose to participate in today’s election are able to do so regardless of who they choose to vote for.
This just in from the republicans! Boo! Now all of usscared sheep need to go vote for McCain. Like we did'nt see this coming.
Ok, that's enough with the 100 years in Iraq business. It's idiotic and childish to assume he meant a war in Iraq - it's been 60 years since we ended WWII -- guess what we have military bases in Germany and Japan, our ALLIES. We have bases all of the world in places that used to be war zones. He said a military presence, he did not say an occupation. I don't even LIKE the war in Iraq and I'm not too stupid to figure that out.

If you're one of the ignorant masses saying "OMG, he said 100 years in Iraq!" then why don't you start a petition to pull our bases from Japan, Germany, the Phillipines, Korea, and all the others? Because it would be stupid to do so? Exactly.
To Dan, in Charledton.

They are both.  Stupid & uninformed,
Is McCain the best they (The GOP) could do?  This McCain thing is everyone that felt he should have won in 2000; including even some Democrats.  This is NOT the McCain that ran in 2000, or I would be more impressed with him.
Typical fear/war mongering from the old fool.
Look at our history do you think the Republicans give
a dam about the economy etc. Not that I can remember
as was pointed out earlier we are out of money education doesn't worry them their kids go to private schools.Healthcare Hilary has received big money from the drug companies since becoming a senator. The politicians get the second best care in the country rivaled only by celebrities and billionaires who have unlimited funds to afford the best. Mc Cain wants to make up for the screw ups during Viet Nam.Problem is it is the same old stuff all over again. The jobs have been sent out of the country and the ones that are left aren't enough to live on except for illegals living in grossly over crowded conditions. With all these domestic problems do we need a president who thinks the only problem is Iraq.I think not.As for Hilary you want to talk about dangerous she is!Iam not completely sold on Obama but given the choices
he is as good as it is going to get.If the economy
jobs and so on aren't fixed there won't be a United States left. You can't have it all.Mc Cain means another Bush Administration.Hilary brings us back to the Clinton Years. No Thanks.Do the math.Mc Cain is out of touch to say the least.Lest you think Iam some kid I'm 59 Retired military so all you folks who have been so pro war I hope you served at least one hitch
I have 22yrs.69-71 73-93.If you haven't then we know
you have no idea what your talking about.War is extremely expensive not only financially but in lives lost physical and pyschological trauma the list goes on.I'm not saying Obama has all the answers but the other two candidates are not an option. As for him being a Muslim WRONG!Here is a final note regarding that the General in charge during the Gulf War "Storm'n Norman" grew up in the Middle East and understood a lot about the way things were there.Does this make him a Terrorist Muslim etc.? Not hardly!
Well either way Vote!
