Delegate update

Obama leads Clinton: 1,595-1,484 (overall with pledged and superdelegates).

Obama picked up another superdelegate today -- Joyce Brayboy, a DNC member from North Carolina -- bringing the superdelegate total to Clinton 254, Obama 216. (The Obama campaign sent out a release that Everett Sanders, a DNC member from Mississippi has also endorsed Obama, but Sanders does not factor into our count because he was already on a list previously provided to NBC News by the campaign.)

NBC News has also officially allocated Wyoming as a 7-5 split for Obama. In addition, NBC News has given one more delegate to Obama based on the Texas caucus results, bringing NBC News' total to a 92-92 tie so far with nine Texas caucus delegates still unallocated. There are also 10 other delegates still unallocated from previously completed contests, including nine in Colorado and one abroad.

The updated NBC News pledged delegate count stands at Obama leading Clinton: 1,379-1,230.

Another wise Super delegate that supports the leader. Go Obama!
Chuck, Mark & Domenico:
Could the DNC allow a re-vote, but then strip the Superdelegates in Michigan and Florida as a penalty to the chaos they've caused.

It would allow the people to be heard, but it would tell the officials that they can't defy the system.
LOL.

Hillary can't wn. Don't be fooled, people.
Why is it that everytime Obama's campaign picks up a new superdelegate, they always release it as 2 or more even though they have already announced one previously...Talk about "The pot calling the kettle black" BO stinks and needs to leave the race
Wonder if Hillary would be interested in a VP role? Oh, that's right, Barack is running on "change" and Hillary, by all means, is defintiely NOT change. Sorry Hillary, the job's been filled by someone more qualified!

Clinton, Ickes and Rendell say that caucus delegates are undemocratically elected.

That's a fantastic message to all those activists who want to build the party and work for a democratic house and senate in Colorado, Minnesota and Iowa and represent 26 electoral votes.

Did I say Iowa? Does anyone remember what happened when tape of Howard Dean was shown to call the Iowa caucuses undemocratic?

Whoops!!!
Why don't you just let the primaries continue without implications or suggestions from MSNBC - I am through with Keith Olberman and will not watch him ever again. I will watch hardball unless Chris Matthews reverts back to his one sided opinion for Obama.  As long as there is fairness, I don't mind criticism but when it is obvious that it is all against Hillary, then I will quit watching that too.  And, since my demographic is women over 50, you might want to consider who is paying for the commercials on your air time.
149 pledged delegate lead!  1-4-9: she can't win unless he withdraws his name from every ballot in the next 11 contests.  It is finished, despite what the media wants, despite what the Clinton campaign spins; despite what the Limbaughs of the world do, Barack Obama is the Democratic Nominee for President and the next President of the United States!
It seems as if the superdelegates will decide this race after all. If 2024 pledged delegates are needed to clench the nomination and neither candidate can attain that number then it will be up to the superdelegates. May the best lobbyist win.
The democrats are just TOO MESSED UP.

Hillary Clinton is NOT A FIGHTER..SHE’S A BULLY!! She would SAY & DO ANYTHING TO GET WHAT SHE WANTS. She's soo full of herself, stoop soo low as to make Obama less qualified than the Republican nominee , calling him a fairy tale, maybe a muslim, maybe a drug dealer, going around telling people to fear him, equate him to Ken Starr for crying out loud and after that she has THE ARROGANCE to imply she would consider him to be her running mate when he’s the one with more delegates, more states won, more votes. Now, that's LOW even for republicans. The Clintons would rather see their party torn apart, than having somebody else be the nominee. She has made Obama's supporters so disgusted & appalled that the thought of voting for her on any ticket would make them hurl!!! REPUBLICANS SHOULD KEEP THIS GOING, The longer the Clintons talk, the more repulsive they become, they JUST CAN’T HELP THEMSELVES.

My republican friends, WITH OUR CANDIDATE ALREADY SELECTED, LET'S MAKE SURE WE VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON! This is OUR GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY. She has screwed up her party so much, there's no way most of those new enthusiastic Obama’s supporters would vote for her come general election, those Obama republicans certainly won't, majority of independents may consider McCain but CAN’T STAND Clinton. There's NOTHING MORE ENERGIZING FOR US THAN TO VOTE AGAINST HER IN NOVEMBER (talking about turning the table to our side) She's done a PERFECT job FOR The Republican Party, LET'S REPAY HER “KINDNESS” & GIVE HER WHAT SHE WANTS. Obama's movement will be GONE (Thanks to her), and WE'LL BE THE ONE REAPING THE BENEFIT. WE WILL HAVE A MOVEMENT VOTING AGAINST HILLARY IN GENERAL ELECTION. You gotta stomach it republicans, if you’re in PA you have until March 24 to register as democrat & vote for Hillary. The outcome will so worth the sacrifice.

We should NEVER let democrats win the White House & Hillary can help us do it, SHE ALREADY HAVE, WE JUST NEED TO FINISH IT! Even after George Bush screwing up, Billary are helping us claim VICTORY in 2009. There's still HOPE for us afterall. Ooh the IRONY is just too much. One DEMOCRAT is A MONSTER and the OTHER is A LOOSER, Thanks to the Monster! Their ONLY HOPE candidate is crushed by his party MONSTER and giving US the HOPE instead. PERFECT!

THANK GOD FOR MCCAIN…, he looks BETTER & BETTER BY THE DAY! My fellow republicans let's MAKE SURE WE VOTE FOR HILLARY. This is WAY…TOO EASY to keep the White House. NO WONDER DEMOCRATS NEVER WIN. Hillary has given us OBAMA on a SILVER PLATER, & SHE WILL BE ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK when SHE'S THE NOMINEE. EITHER WAY, REPUBLICAN WILL WIN! HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THAT!
MSNBC and Chuck Todd have a cozy relationship with the Obama campaign. This skews your news peices here. You constantly make Obama look good with "information provided to NBC News by the Obama campaign".

MSNBC and Chuck Todd are gutless lapdogs for Obama, not courageous reporters. Ya'll have obviously missed the last few parodies on Saturday Night Live.

I'm a lunch bucket Democrat who'll vote for McCain before I vote for that rookie Obama.
MSNBC must be sexist. It keeps focuses on these number thingees.
Its tough not being cynical, when it comes to the way the Clintons run their campaign, however one must add some context to Hill and Bill's dreaming aloud about the magic of a Clinton-Obama ticket.  The fact that this comes up just as the Pennsylvania Primary is getting started and has a striking similarity to a political dirty trick foisted upon the democratic voters of Pennsylvania in 1978 leads one to question the sincerity of the Clintons.  The 1978 Democratic gubernatorial primary featured three candidates.  Mayor Peter Flaherty of Pittsburgh, Lt. governor Ernie Kline and the popular former Auditor General of PA. Robert P. Casey (future governor and father of present U.S.Senator)Just prior to completion of the filing deadline, another Robert P. Casey, this one a school teacher from Penn Hills, PA, who also happened to own an ice cream store, appeared on the primary ballot as a candidate for Lt. Governor.  Ironic that the teacher Robert P. Casey was a high school classmate of Peter Flaherty.  This total political neophyte's candidacy allowed Flaherty to propose to the unsuspecting voters of the commonwealth that they could have both Flaherty and Casey on the ticket, by voting for Pete for governor and Casey for Lt. Governor, which is exactly what occured.  Flaherty/Casey lost to Thornburg/Scranton in November.  However the Flaherty stunt gave rise to the term "Real Bob Casey", which the future governor(elected to the first of two outstanding terms in 1986) used for the remainder of his political career.  It however proved an embarrassing moment for the unsuspecting democrats in PA who fell victim to the ploy.  Me thinks Hill and Bill are trying to fool Pennsylvania voters again by suggesting that you can have both Clinton and Obama, by voting for Hillary for president and allowing her to select Obama as her running mate.
trish of la jolla is right in the sense that hillary's actions are so dishonest and divisive that barack would be bloodied, quartered and hung when he gets to the general election.  common sense dictates that hillary has already lost no matter how you look at it.
Why do we focus on number thingees? It's called an ELECTION. It's called a NOMINATION. It's number on votes, number of delegates, number of superdelegates.
Magic number 2025. The number that will count at the convention in Denver in August. Pay attention!
For the first time since JFK I am able to actually vote FOR a candidate and not against some other less qualified person. I voted for Obama. We need someone in the White House who isn't in corprit Americas pocket, YET ! Yet being the operative word.

I think it's pretty sad if republicans are reduced to voting in the other party's election process to "muddy" our democracy...scheming, scheming and more scheming...good luck in November fascists ;)
Who woulda thought 4 weeks ago Democrats would be ready to throw each other under the bus for 2 candidates who have essentially the same agenda.  The water in the tidal wave has been flushed!!! HA -HA.  Thanks Billory.  Its about experience and She and McCain have it - her 8 years as first lady of Arkansas, 8 as First lady of US, 6 years in Senate - he is a war hero and 20+ years in Senate - Chair of numerous Foreign affairs committees, and in on all foreign policy decisions last 7 years...hmmmm - think I know where the experience vote will go.  He, he he...
I have seen a few posts from supposedly "Democrats" about voting for McCain if Obama is the nominee.  If you are not voting for a Democrat on the General Election ticket, then you are not a Democrat.  Call yourself an Independent or Republican, but not a Democrat!

Obama in 08!
The SUPERDELEGATES need to ACT NOW to prevent a split in the party and the political fallout which McCAIN WILL SURELY USE AGAINST THE DEMS' CANDIDATE IN NOVEMBER.
Clearly the VOTERS WILL NOT DECIDE THE NOMINEE!  Niether candidate will be able to clinch the nomination with pledged delegates.  WE KNOW THIS!
So, SUPERDELEGATES, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Declare your support for one candidate or the other.  Let the voters in the remaining contests ratify your decisions.  If they don't, well, THAT'S WHAT THE CONVENTION IS FOR!@#*#&@#!@!!
Since Hillary chances are not looking good.
I am feeling the same way Dirk from Georgia feels.
I am supporting Mcain. Let's see if Barack  can win Florida, Nevada and New Mexico where the hispanic vote is very important. I think Mcain will be competitive in New Jersey, Pennsylvania,New Hampshire. Even in Connecticut he will put up a fight, well his pal Joe Lieberman already threw in his support.

Thanks for such a good account of the delegate race. With a Texas Primary that had a popular count split by just less than 100,000 votes out of over 3 million total and a woopin in the Texas Caucus so far(and I know it not over), I hope all the media will give Barack his due when Texas comes to a final count. Then who will have won Texas?
I forsee an Obama-Edwards ticket in the fall. They are very similar in ideology. I think it would be a great ticket.
I hard lately that delegates from Florida and Michigan need to be added for Democratic primary. It is totally none-sense. I guess DNC already aggreed that these tow state should be paid the price for their early primary.

My question is, they violate the rule and they have to pay the price for it. who-ever in FL / MI democreate took the early primary initiative, he/she should pay for thir un-democratic action.

At the same time DNC should update the winning number accrdingly. JUST PROPORTIONED THE WINNING DELEGATE WITH THE REDUCING (Total - FL/MI delegates) IT ACCORDINGLY.

That's the way DNC could be balance with money and judgement.

The Clintons can lie, deceive, and dissemble all they want, but that lead is too great to make up.  Hillary blew it when she ignored the voters of most every state that participated in February.

There's little doubt now that the media wants the battle to continue -- thus, their support for the Clintons but it's just going to hurt the party.  The Clintons may find a way to steal this yet from the people but if they do, it'll destroy the Democratic Party.  Not that they'll care -- their opinion is that, if they can't have it, no one should.

Hillary and her minions are pure evil.  I used to support her and respect her but her machinations have led me to the inescapable conclusion that I was wrong.  I'll never vote for her or support her in any way.  I'll do anything I can to support any opponent of hers and if the powers-that-be in the Democratic Party allow her to steal this nomination, I'll be done w/ the party forever.
MSNBC provides fair coverage. MSNBC doesn't make Hillary look bad -- she and her campaign staff do that real well all by themselves -- I have never seen such lies, distortion of the facts, bullying.

Predictions:
without a re-vote in Florida and Michigan, Obama will end up with a lead of 150-180 pledged delegates and 600,000-700,000 votes.
with a re-vote, Obama will lead by 120-130 pledeged delegates and 250,000-300,000 votes.
Either way Hillary Clinton does not have a realistic claim to the nomination and the party heavy weights (Gore, Richardson, Edwards, Brazile, etc.) will step in to make her move aside by the middle of June.
I think Obama should finance the Florida and Michigan primaries himself.  Assume he can win 48% of the pledged delegates at stake in both states - 150 more - that plus an average of 48% of the delegates through June - all the way to South Dakota - plus his current superdelegate count - would put him over 2024.5.  Then he can wrap up the nomination before the convention and avoid some kind of Clintonian surprise.
+++
THE CLINTONS WILL DO ANYHTING TO 'STEAL' THIS NOMINATION.
+++
So, clearly- she can win Pennsylvania, Indiana, West Virginia, re-votes in Florida, Michigan, Puerto Rico- every primary she has a chance in by 15 points each.  Tie in all the states she is going to lose- Mississippi, Oregon, Montana, North Carolina etc.  and still not come close to winning!

What on earth are all these tv shows talking about Florida and Michigan being so pivotal about?  She lost...  She lost delegates in Texas.  She will have lost delegates in the last 6 states (Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wyoming, Mississippi) after losing 11 straight and trailing by over 140 delegates. It's over- let's beat John McCain, Hillary go away.
It's become difficult to distinguish Hillary's tactics from the current administration's way of doing business.
Perhaps Hillary can get on board as McCain's Veep.
Patty from San Diego?  You there?  Cat got your tongue?
this message is for Dirk....don't waste your vote on McCain....IF you are truly a lunch bucket Democrat then you realize what the Republicans and their free trade has done to diminish and reduce the middle calss the last 8 years. THe Supreme COurt will be reduced to a rubber stamp for the conservatives, and the few rights you have left will be long gone.  C'mon Dirk!  I know you can do it...do the right thing and vote Democratic.  Show we are the party of change  ...especially for people like us, union and the little guy!
Gee, another REMINDER that HRC WILL NOT, CANNOT WIN!!!!!  Yeah!!   Funny how HRC camp doesn't want to face REALITY that they WILL NOT win.  There little "we won all the BIG states so it doesn't matter that he ahs MORE pledged delegates, won MORE states, or has the polpular vote" plan will not hold water.  They think they can go to the supers and STEAL the election with THIS?  PLEASE!! HRC must REALLY play the voters of America as FOOLS.  Does she think that we would all just sit back and let her STEAL the nomination?  The supers know better than that.  They WILL NOT go against the will of the voters. And her little BIG state drama means NOTHING.  ANY democrat will take those states in the general.  Obama, NOT HRC has a chance of possibly changing some of the red states blue and getting the swing states.  The supers KNOW this.  Hillary may think that the voter will believe this crap, but MOST of us don't and we know that she is FINISHED!!!!

Watch as the supers come out and push Obama to 2024!!!

How many supers have endorsed HRC lately?
Oh thats right!
One

Too bad Billary.  My questionis why is she trying to tear down the party?  John Edwards, Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, Mitt Romeny, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Guilianni, and all of the OTHERS had the decency to drop out when they knew they could not win, but Billary is too stubborn and SELFISH.

HOW PATHETIC!!

OBAMA 08
the whole discussion perfectly portrayed in the following youtube contribution............youtube.com/watch?v=hwLaCb07lAs
Pete in Pittsburg, It takes 2025 delegates to win or is it 2024.5. I don't think Senator Obama can get there without superdelegates (unless Senator Clinton withdraws her name from the next 11 contests and the Florida and Michigan voters don't get a chance to vote in the primaries). Is that really how Senator Obama wants to win the nomination? And please don't say Florida and Michigan broke the rules so our votes can't count - there's clearly no rule against a redo which is fair to both candidates.
Geezzzz, I cannot believe how divisive the comments are on this board. Can't we all just get along like adults? When I read these personal attacks and insults, I think "what an idiot/bigot/racist,etc." Come on people, speak your truth without slander.
I bet any amount of money, that Oboma really wants to stop the war because of his overseas family roots!Maybe thats why he is so anxious to talk to our enimies, they're not his!!! Think about it!
A closer look at the Hillary "BiG State " arguement

Consider the top 9 "big" states that have voted so far
State . . . . . . . Obama . . . . . . . .Clinton
California . .  .2,126,000 . . . . . . .2,553,000
Texas . . . . . 1,358,000 . . . . . . .1,459,000
New York. . . . . 698,000 . . . . . . .1,003,000
Illinois. . . . 1,302,000 . . . . . . . .662,000
Ohio  . . . . . . 982,000. . . . . . . 1,212,000
Georgia . . . . . 704,000 . . . . . . . .330,000
New Jersey. . . . 492,000 . . . . . . . .603,000
Virginia  . . . . 627,000 . . . . . . . .350,000
Washington  . . . 354,000 . . . . . . . .316,000

Total . . . . . 8,643,000 . . . . . . .8,487,000

Let's put  an end to this BS arguement

It would be helpful to me if you explained why delegates remain unallocated (ie: 9 from Colorado) when referring to them in your new stories.

Thank you.
That's it, I have had it with Hillary, endorses McCain, wins OH & TX with Republican voters who were instructed to BLOODY up Obama, the Kenneth Starr comment. I am sick of it. Right now I am going to make my first donation to Barack and to the future of this country.
Select John McCain as a president and turn the nation as a fighting machine with rest of the world - as Honorable President Bush did. Not to mention - make DOD contractor rich and make 200+ million poor solder who failed to get proper outfits to fight for his mercenary force. At the same time turn democracy to Vatican state (rather lease to Pope).  Shame on republican eve-angels for providing misery to ordinary poor citizen SAFE!
Well, the Clinton camp just announced that they are losing a superdelegate - Oh, wait, that was just Spitzer's news conference...eh, same thing.
Once in a lifetime someone comes along and challenges the status quo through thoughtful intelligence.  Once in a lifetime someone comes along that speaks with such eloquence other are forced to listen. Once in a lifetime someone comes along who truly cares to empower the average American, instead of placate the privileged few. Once in a lifetime someone comes along that has the courage to challenge the special interest , a dangerous thing to do. Once in a lifetime someone comes along who lifts the spirit of all Americans!  The question is: are you really going to let this-- once in a lifetime-- opportunity --to correct our bought and paid for governments (by special interest)--pass you by?

If you do math, if you really thinks about it, if you do the research on substance, then Obama is the only candidate--who is ready to be  President.
Obama Edwards 08
Hey Chuck, are you counting the 4 delegates Obama recently picked up in CA (CA just certified its election)? With the win in WY and the addition of 4 more delegates in CA, Obama has wiped out Clinton's gain last week. And he's going to add to his delegate lead tomorrow.
