Ferraro context

Posted: Tuesday, March 11, 2008 5:51 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's David Gelles
I just spoke to reporter Jim Farber, who wrote the Ferraro story for the "Daily Breeze" of Torrance, Calif. He told me the Ferraro interview took place on Feb. 28th, five days before the Ohio and Texas primaries. The article ran in the paper on March 7th.

But it's important to remember that Ferraro made her comments at the time when many thought the Clinton campaign was about to go under.

The article ran with the headline, "Geraldine Ferraro lets her emotions do the talking."

This is the quote the campaigns are fighting over:

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she continued. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept." Ferraro does not buy the notion of Obama as the great reconciler.

Farber says the parentheses "(of any color)" is a direct quote.

Ferraro made a second statement today - not sure it is any better. http://www.dailybreeze.com/ci_8533832
If Hillary Clinton were not a Clinton and a woman, she would not be in contention either.  She has virtually NO foreign policy experience and her only domestic policy experience was a disaster.  She's a junior senator with no qualifications that would put her where she is other than the fact that she is Bill Clinton's wife.
WHY is it important to remember when she said it?  Does that make it somehow acceptable?  I don't get it?
Lets put this in Context.  Should Spitzers wife run for Govenor now?  She and Hillary have the exact same qualifications for their husbands jobs. Spitzers wife went to Harvard, has acted as first lady of NY with grace and intelligence.  She is smart, and has watched her husband as Attorney General and Govenor.  She has also been humiliated by her husband and stood by him.  I really think she should be Govenor just as much as Hillary should be President.
Perhaps Hillary will choose Rush Limbaugh for Vice President.
I don't see what the big deal is.

Again Obama crying foul when somebody tells it like it is.

Clinton 08
http://twocanpete.blogspot.com
It takes a real dunce to think that Obama is only where he's at because he's black. If that's the only requirement there ought to be at least a dozen 'black men' running for office! This arrogant old power-elite is starting to see that she and her kind are irrelevant and she is as mad as hades. Go get em' Barak!
Being "emotional" and being a loser does not make it OK to be a racist.

Hillary Clinton has failed to reject Ferraro's support and denounce her statements. Hillary Clinton is failing to live up to the standard she set for Barack Obama, which when his supporters have made ugly remarks, he has lived up to.
Gerry is a loser.  She didn't get elected.  She's another angry old woman who thinks the black man should wait his turn - just like Clinton.  They are so 19th century.  Crying old Grandmas - elect a Mother President because the black man is going to hurt you.

Get off the stage Gerry.  Neither you or Hillary will ever get elected in YOUR state again.  Obama almost took Brooklyn - 50-49.  Next election he will win it - and all his supporters will remember what you said.
ANOTHER CONTEXT point.....

Sinbad went on the Bosnian trip that Hillary Clinton touts as foreign policy experience and has a great comment about how the only red phone moment was about where they should eat. He, Sheryl crowe and Hillary Clinton.  So much for her experience.  The witch behind the curtain is beginning to shrink.
African Americans are not not voting for Hillary because she is white.  We are voting for Obama because of his stances, policies, and his integrity.  I attended one of his rallies, and I was very impressed with him.  I looked around and there were people of all races and ethnic groups.  Everyone appeared to be on the same page.  It made me feel really really good.  I am an African American with a graduate degree. I have attended luncheons, parties, and other social events with caucasian co-workers. but I never felt that there was a real connection.  While I was at that Obama rally, for the first time I felt a real connection.  It made me feel really good, and for the first time, I felt proud to be an American.  I am not saying that I hate this country, that has never been the case, I just never felt that I was completely a part of it.  I say this because it appears that white america is extending its hands to black america whole heartedly.  I finally felt embraced.  It was beginning to seem as though racism was dying out, and was not as bad as I thought.  But after witnessing all that the Clintons have been doing and the comments on this blog, I guess I was wrong.  And I say this with a sincere sad heart.  I almost feel like crying.  Black people have always voted for white people, but the moment we vote for another black person, it is called racism.  Does that seem fair to you.  Since white americans out number black americans, probably half of his votes are from blacks and the other half from whites when you look at the actual numbers.  I guess I was bamboozled.  I thought America was changing.  But, I do want to thank the white americans who have seen past the color of our skin and see what we are truly capable of doing.
When she ran for Vice President, the U.S. Geraldine Ferraro, a nondescript Representative with a husband with questionable business practices. So in keeping with the will of the people, Hillary Clinton should both DENOUNCE and REJECT Geraldine Ferraro's comment.
Look at KOS and read about how lucky Obama is to be a black man in todays politics.  It will turn your stomach to see the blogs about how he should be killed and how the person could kill him.  I knew there was prejudice in the world but just reading it made me sick to my stomach.
grealdine ferraro, what a loser. hw bush was right, when he said, he kicked a little ass after their veep debate in 1984. little is the key word, she is a little person, just like patty,sd,ca.
Who cares what the actual timing was? That was a despicable, hateful, racist and sexist comment from Ferraro. So many Clinton surrogates have shed their scaly skin and revealed themselves to be their real reptilian selves. Ferraro is as cold blooded as the rest. Some of these surrogates need some hormone therapy. They are simply wacko!
When you think about it, the comment is so far off what Hillary has been saying all along "He's not fit to be Commander and Chief, He's just speeches. . ."  No wonder Hillary didn't have a real problem with a racist comment.

However, I personally would want a working man like me to be president.  Obama is a working man's man. Let me prove it---check out the record below.

Who's the best?  Obama's the best.  Take a look you sad Clintonites and you'll see that Obama did more in 8 months then most senators do in a lifetime of service.  That's the kind of president I want working for me.

The following information gathered from the Library of Congress on the Legislative experience Junior Senator Hillary Clinton and Junior Senator Barack Obama. Please Feel free to check these records for yourself and draw your own conclusion.

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term, which is 6 years and another year campaigning, has authored and passed 20 twenty pieces of legislation in her term of six years into law. These bills can be found at (wwwthomas.loc.gov).  Senator Clinton has passed.

(1) Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
(2) Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
(3) Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
(4) Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
(5) Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
(6) Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea.
(7) Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
(8) Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
(9) Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
(10) Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
(11) Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
(12) Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
(13) Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
(14) Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
(15) Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.

Only five of Clinton's bills are, more substantive.
(16) Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
(17) Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
(18) Assist landmine victims in other countries.
(19) Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
(20) Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

She has a nice list, but note that these are The Fact's straight from the Senate Record; Therefore, it is not made up.

Now, It is time to post Senator Obama's record from the Library of Congress.I have to mention that Senator Obama's list is too substantive, one is coalesced to categorize. Since its alot, remember you can go to the Library of Congress website, and check it out yourself, but I am just summarizing his first 8 months.

During Senator Obama's first 8 eight months of elected service he sponsored over 820 bills.

He introduced 233 bills regarding healthcare reform,
125 bills on poverty and public assistance,
112 bills on crime fighting,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.
In his first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included:
(1)the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 that became LAW,
(2)The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act that became LAW, (3)The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act that passed the Senate,
(4)The 2007 Government Ethics Bill that became LAW,
(5)The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill that is in committee just to name a few.

In all since he entered the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no legislative record.  Read the facts and not emotion.

Perhaps Hillary would like Rush Limbaugh as Vice President.
I don't understand.  Why is a racist remark more acceptable if you think you may be losing?
And she's right. Can anyone honestly disagree with her statements???  Numbers dont lie.
Amazing! Ferraro was just as irrelevant in 1984 as she is in 2008.
It does not matter when she said what she said. She is a Democrat, isn't she? What good does it do to tear at fellow Demcorats? Does she know a thing about respect? It is like blaming Obama for Hillary's defeat even though she is losing because of her divisiveness and negativity. Obama is mostly responded to Hillary's senseless allegations, and for Geraldine to start using the race card to ask Hillary's polarizing force is an outrageous act.
Geraldine and Hillary are both stupid politicians who should never be role models for aspiring women politicians unelss they cease their deliebrate use of divisive and ugly political tactics that will only increase America's poisonous partisanship.
I am glad Geraldine never had the success of becoming a woman vice president.
Did reporter Jim Farber say why the newspaper waited over a week to report Ferraro's comments? If it had come out sooner, it might have changed the outcome on March 4th--Senator Clinton's campaign might indeed have "gone under." It would've saved a lot of grief, in other words. Please let us know their reasoning.
It's ironic because Geraldine Ferraro would never have been nominated as VP in 84 had she not been a woman.  If she hadn't been nominated no one would be listening to her now.  And Hillary Clinton never would have made it this far if she wasn't the wife of Bill Clinton.

History disagrees with Ferraro.  An African American has never run for National office, only three have been elected in history to the US Senate and only two have been elected Govenor of their states.  Contrast that to the number of women US Senators or Govenors.  Those numbers are still pathetic but are much higher.
Barrack Obama is like "Drizzt Do Urden" from the R.A. Salvatore Best Selling Book Series.  He lives, stoically, by his principles--which guide the direction of his words, action, and life.

Go Drizzt--Go Obama.

Oh I get it, it's okay to be sexist/racist if you're about to lose an election? Yeah, makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for the context.
Hillary, don't be a MONSTER! DENOUNCE and REJECT Geraldine Ferraro's comment.

Obama has so much more class that Hillary.
It does not matter when such a remark is made, it is offensive at any time.  This is simply another attempt to diminish Senator Obama's candidacy and his impact on the American electorate.  As the Obama campaign rightly points out, this is exactly the sort of politics that makes people tune out.  These grade school playground antics have been outgrown by those of us working for a living and finding ways to work together and get along, and frankly I cannot believe we are setting the example for our so-called leaders, instead of the other way around.
To everyone reading this.  We should be proud to be Americans, not any color just Americans.  This country was built on a constitution that all are created equal and we should live on that.  We really have to lose the immature shallow thinking for those who like to throw stones and live in glass houses.  I as a woman had great respect for our former First Lady and now Sen Clinton but as time goes on she shows a side that is only self forfilling first and the people second because if she had the American people in mind first she would know not to be throwing or have her people throwing vicious attacks at her opponent and destroying the Democratic party.  There is a time to choose your battles wisely.  Each time she tries these attacks it only boomerangs back to her.  Everyone bring their own idividual experience to the table and each has strong points but over all I feel that Sen Obama has the countries best interest in mind where as Sen Clinton paints the picture she has her own interest in mind first then the people.
OMG!!

It's been way over due, that someone finally has the balls, to say what everyone else knows, but won't even dare think, for fear some left wing guilt ridden liberals or blacks would hear....

That Barack Obama would not be where he is at today if he was not black. He gets 9/10 black votes, anywhere else except this would be viewed as extreme racism.

But not by the above groups, they define, own, and decide what's  racism. That includes the 3:00am phone call... That ran in Texas and Ohio, Chris Matthews, says it's racism.... A quote right out of his mouth...

Bill Clinton saying the word "fairy tale" is racism. Hillary Clinton saying President LBJ, made some pro AA laws is racism.

Saying Jesse Jackson won South Carolina twice is racism....

The hypocrisy rages and no one is willing to say a word because the yellow belly spineless pundits and politicians ram it down our throats.

It's just time to speak the truth.....

The black vote has carried him, he has got a lot of other votes, but the bottom line is he would have been dead in the water by now if he did not get 9/10 of AA votes.  That's just the way it is. You can't change it. The numbers are not lying, only the pundits and politicians are....

Obama stop crying what part of what she said isn't true?

Get her in trouble she is speaking the       truth. She is calling me a black man.

Patty said "I don't see what the big deal is...."
------------------------------------------------------

Of course not, you're a proud member of Clinton's uneducated demographic.
obama let me be absolutely CLEAR.....
I WILL NOT VOTE FOR YOU.
YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT.
I WILL RATHER VOTE FOR GEORGE BUSH DOG BARNEY.

You are so presumptuous to think we who supports Hillary will automatically vote for you. ...WRONG.

So keep playing your only strong political point, which is, THE RACE CARD.
Why should she denounce an comment by one of her supporters. with her backstabbling, lack of morals and underhanded type of politics if she speaks out against this would make her look respectable and this is not one of her traits. so she should keep being herself no matter which one of her 4 or 5 personalities that show up that day.
While I'm curious how Ms. Ferraro either have been so careless or stupid, I'm equally curious why the reporter waited so long to file the story. Since he was getting the story from "the horses mouth" he couldn't have been checking his facts.
Hey Stacy from VA, I'll see your Sinbad, and raise you a Richard Holbrooke:

Statement of Richard Holbrooke, architect of the Dayton Accords, and former permanent representative to the United Nations.

“It was dire in May 1999 when Hillary Clinton arrived in Macedonia. The government of Macedonia had slowed the flow of refugees from Kosovo to a trickle. After visiting refugees and gaining a first-hand assessment of the situation, the First Lady had intense talks with President Gligorov and Prime Minister Georgievski. In these talks, one in the Presidential Palace, another in the residence of the American Ambassador, Christopher Hill, Mrs. Clinton pressed the Macedonian government to fully open the border so that Kosovar Albanian refugees could flee the war zone to safety. She also committed herself to work with the government and people of Macedonia who also faced an emergency because of the threat to their own safety and stability. Hillary Clinton promised to take action to help the Macedonian economy. Returning to Washington, she pressed hard in the administration for action to support the Macedonians. She even contacted American business executives to ensure that American textile contracts in Macedonia were not canceled. There is no doubt in my mind, nor in the minds of those people I worked with in the Balkans at the time – that her intense efforts resulted in easing a crisis of significant dimensions and contributed to saving many lives.”

So much for Sinbad.

And I suppose you don't think she did anything in Northern Ireland either.  Take a moment to educate yourself with the facts instead of Obama camp spin for a change:

Hillary traveled to Northern Ireland seven times between 1995 and 2004, and gave what Northern Irish leader and Nobel Laureate John Hume recently described as “decisive support” to the peace process in Northern Ireland. She focused especially on encouraging the emergence of women in the political process. In addition, Hillary's work at the grass roots and behind-the-scenes helped cultivate the conditions necessary for the peace to take hold and last.

As political leaders on all sides of the process have attested, Hillary made important contributions in a wide variety of ways. She made private calls to the negotiating parties on all sides and at all levels to encourage them towards peace. She gave advice and technical assistance to Northern Ireland leaders on a range of governance issues. She used the bully pulpit to inspire and to challenge at a major address in 1998 before leaders from the contending sides.

In 1998 under the auspices of the U.S.-led Vital Voices Democracy Initiative, established by Hillary and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright the previous year – Hillary brought together 400 women in Belfast, Northern Ireland to foster their rise to prominence and leadership and to ensure that their success helped support peace. She met with community workers and with women politicians in Northern Ireland to encourage them to take on a larger role. She carried a pledge to the government of Ireland that the United States would remain a partner in the peace process.

Senator George Mitchell said that “She was very much involved in encouraging the emergence of women in the political process in Northern Ireland, which was a significant factor in ultimately getting an agreement.”

Hillary’s efforts have continued as Senator. She visited the Republic of Ireland on her first trip during her Senate term, and Northern Ireland on her second trip, where she spoke with all of the major leaders in Northern Ireland.

Every year, she meets with the Taoiseach and other party leaders from Ireland. She continues to take calls from all parties to provide help behind the scenes and to keep the process moving forward. And she has held meetings in her office at the request of Northern Irish officials on job creation, trade, agriculture, autism, policing, economic development – and of course reconciliation.

In December 2007, when Martin McGuiness and Ian Paisley were in Washington, they met with President Bush and Hillary, thanking Hillary for her contribution to the peace process.

Testimonials:

Statement from John Hume former MP MEP, founder of the SDLP and an architect of the Good Friday Agreement. He is the only person to win the Nobel Prize for Peace, the Ghandi Peace Award and the Martin Luther King Peace Prize.

“I am quite surprised that anyone would suggest that Hillary Clinton did not perform important foreign policy work as First Lady. I can state from firsthand experience that she played a positive role for over a decade in helping to bring peace to Northern Ireland.

She visited Northern Ireland, met with very many people and gave very decisive support to the peace process. There is no doubt that the people of Northern Ireland think very positively of Hillary Clinton’s support for our peace process, due to her visits to Northern Ireland and her meetings with so many people. In private she made countless calls and contacts, speaking to leaders and opinion makers on all sides, urging them to keep moving forward.

Anyone criticizing her foreign policy involvement should look at her very active and positive approach to Northern Ireland and speak with the people of Northern Ireland who have the highest regard for her and are very grateful for her very active support for our peace process.”

Inez McCormack, first female president of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions:

"Hillary Clinton took risks for peace in asking me and others to bring women and communities from both traditions to affirm their capacity to work for common purpose and to assert, when there was no public dialogue which supported it, that working for common purpose on the basis of mutual respect was the core of effective peace building. She used her immense influence to give women like me space to develop this work and validated it every step of the way. This approach is now taken for granted bit it wasn't then. She told us that if we take risks for peace, she would stay with us on that journey. In my experience, it took hard work, attention to detail and a commitment of time and energy which she delivered steadily and where it was needed over the last decade."
Baroness May Blood of the House of Lords, who worked for many years as a community leader in Shankill area of West Belfast

"The First Lady sent the message that the work and influence that grassroots women were undertaking within their communities was just as important as anything else that was taking place. I witnessed her building new confidence in women at the grassroots level and their statue grew within Northern Ireland as a consequence. All of a sudden they were being taken more seriously. The message we were also told by Hillary Clinton was that this work needed a political focus."

Geraldine McAteer, Chief Executive of West Belfast Partnership Board

"As First Lady, Hillary Clinton was extremely supportive of the peace process in Northern Ireland, and in particular, of the women who live here. In her visits during the peace process negotiations she met with women from a range of backgrounds and she recognized there was a real need to strengthen and support the voices of women in the post conflict context and get the needs of women and communities to the forefront of the new political agenda. She recognized that this would be best done through building the skillls of women here. Through her Vital Voices Conference in September 1998, I and others were able to develop our skills for the betterment of our communities."

News reports:

2007: Hillary honored for her work on the Northern Ireland Peace process. Irish American Magazine named Hillary “Person of the Year”, celebrating “her work on the Northern Ireland peace process”. [Irish American Magazine, April/May 07]

2007: Hillary met with Irish leaders who wanted to 'pay their respects to Hillary' for her work on behalf of peace in Northern Ireland. Martin McGuinness and Ian Paisley recently traveled to Washington on behalf of the fledging Northern Ireland government, and they specifically requested two personal meetings: one with President George W. Bush and one with Senator Hillary Clinton. They wanted to “pay their respects to Hillary” for her long and varied role in promoting and working for peace in Northern Ireland. [Guardian, December 8, 2007].

As McGuinness put it, “these are wonderfully exciting times for all of us back home, not least because of the contributions made by President Clinton and Mrs. Clinton.” [AP, December 7, 2007].

1999: Northern Ireland Secretary: ‘Hillary is one of the essential reasons’ Ireland had peace. An August 1999 issue of Talk Magazine quotes Northern Ireland Secretary Mo Mowlam: "Hillary is one of the essential reasons we've had 18 months of relative peace. Without her we would have no economic boom."

1999: Hillary made frequent trips to Northern Ireland where she was 'not just in the humdrum affairs of state…but in the nitty gritty of the political scene' “A few years back the notion of an American First Lady speaking out on any aspect of life in Northern Ireland would have been taboo. Now it is accepted that not just this First Lady but also her husband make frequent trips to the North, and that they become involved not just in the humdrum affairs of state such as opening a new training center or mouthing niceties at a conference, but in the nitty gritty of the political scene too." [Irish Voice, May 25, 1999]

So, what was that about Sinbad?
I agree with ferraro
This is getting too ridiculous. Geraldine Ferraro needs to keep her big ignorant mouth shut.  Here's the latest from Ben Smith at Politico:

Ferraro, again: "Attacking me because I'm white"

Ferraro calls the Daily Breeze back, and re-iterates the Clinton's campaign's allegation that Obama is playing the race card.

"Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," Ferraro said. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

WHAT?  She is too stupid to believe. No one is buying it Geraldine. This is even worse, she seems to be saying that all Obama supporters are black?  I'm a 49 year old white woman, and I'll say it to your face, it's not because you're white, it's because of the stupid bigoted things that come out of your mouth. I used to respect you. No more.
As someone else noted above, I'm not seeing the relevance of the timing of this interview.  Could you please explain a bit more why something that would otherwise be offensive and racist isn't, simply because it was uttered when Ferraro thought her candidate was going to lose?

Either it is offensive or it isn't.   Please expand on this point.   Thanks.
I am shocked that Hillary would not reject and denounce Geraldine Ferarro. The spin by Mrs. Clinton and her surrogates is shameful
I recall when President Clinton lied to the nation and the world about his relationship with Monica, there was Hillary blaming a right wing conspiracy for the problem.
It seems truth and honor has no relevance in the world of Hillary Clinton.
I fear the words of Samantha Power about Hillary's character may come to haunt the US and the rest of the world for years to come
And talking about words, what was it Barbara Bush said about Geraldine Ferarro?
As a first-gen feminist who earned her success I find these comments appalling. Hillary should treat Geraldine Ferraro as she would anybody (any color, either sex) in her campaign that makes uncalled-for and disrespectful remarks. The fact that she was not IMMEDIATELY removed from the Clinton campaign speaks volumes.
I do not want this woman representing American values here or anywhere else.
Making a comment such as Ferraro's because the Clinton Campaign was "about to under" is immaterial and offers NO relevant context whatsoever. Intelligent, reasonable-thinking people of ALL races reject comments such as these.

A tremendous irony is that Ferraro's fame comes from being the first female VP Nominee. Most, at the time , believed she was qualified and considered it unfortunate that she was unable to realize a significant accomplishment.

If "experience" TRULY does matter, it seems that Clinton and her surrogates would immediately recognize the same.
Farro should bend over in front of a mirror and look at her back side bet she has black in her
"Ferraro made a second statement today - not sure it is any better. http://www.dailybreeze.com/ci_8533832"
Phyllis Mystic, CT

-- Phyllis, thanks for that link. It is a real eye opener. No it is not better, it is shocking! But she does re-inforce why I first decided to lean toward Obama which is that it is harder to get a woman elected; I agree with that. I want the candidate who can win in November. I would have prefered John Edwards but given the choices I know Obama has the better chance of winning.  I don't think the melanin challenged voters support Obama because he is melanin endowed but in spite of it. It is just crazy to say that is why he is getting votes.
Much of this nomination battle is a generational shift, as evidenced by the strong support by X-ers and Milleniums up their mid-40's; and support for Hillary from the boomers and silents.  Barack is an early wave X-er (1961) as defined by Strauss and Howe.

Ferraro's statement is just another example of Identity Politics; and its something I have seen often.  They are oblivious to the notion that this may be generational, and more importantly, by generations that did not grow up in a 'black and white' world.  We just dont see those racial or gender lines the way older generations lived them.
Just like Hillary....Geraldine is an embarrassment
to women and to this country!!
You're not alone Very Disappointed. I for one am beyond tired of being told I'm voting for Barack Obama because I'm black. Is that the same spiel doled out to the white voters that aren't voting for Hillary for any other reason than the color of her skin (and don't get me started on the uterus connection she plays at every angle)?

I resent people telling me I'm voting for the one truly presidential candidate in this race because we are half of the same background while those snearing about it are the same ones barely able to hide their racist tendencies and raw fear that they may be wrong and that a man with an African heritage may well be the ruler of the land very soon so get this this "I'm voting for Hillary. She's the most qualified and experienced candidate" yap? Seems to me Bill's wife was clearly exposed first thing this morning on her "experience". Why not gnaw on that for a while and then explain why so many people who aren't black have put Obama in the lead when this should have been a done deal on Super Tuesday.
And why did the Daily Breeze hold the article for 8 days before publishing it?
Clinton's hypocrisy is astonishing. She demands that Obama "denounce and reject" Farrakhan’s racist comments (“denounce” just wasn't quite enough for her). She is horrified that Powers calls her a monster (a charge that seems more and more true as the campaign goes on). But, as for Ferraro, well, "can't we all just agree to disagree"?

Both McCain and Obama have shown the leadership to stand up and strongly denounce the racist garbage from some of their supporters, and if Clinton won't, it just shows me what a weasel she really is. I started this season out thrilled that we had two exciting Democratic candidates, and I was certain that I would vote for whichever one won the nomination, but this is the event that pushes me, personally, over the top. I can't put my mark by her name. I just can't.

And for patty,sd,ca (Sent Tuesday, March 11, 2008 6:04 PM) who says "Again Obama crying foul when somebody tells it like it is", GET REAL.

WHO BUT AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT WOULD CLAIM THAT BEING A BLACK MAN IN THIS SOCIETY IS AN ADVANTAGE.

It particularly galls me to hear a rich, privileged, white woman like Ferraro whine about it. She doesn't have a clue. And now she has responded to the controversy over her comments that (if you can believe this) people are just attacking her because she’s white!!!  I'm ashamed that I voted for her for VP.
Hillary is just a political operator. She stands for nothing and no one. She even takes money from firms charged with blatant sexual discrimination $170,000.

Susan Power was right. Bring back Susan Power!
Geraldine Ferraro?

Oh good lord, that appears to be the move of the truly desperate.

Is HRC claiming her experience as well.  Last I remember it was a landslide....
