Clinton vs. Obama: Ferraro resigns

Posted: Thursday, March 13, 2008 9:15 AM by Mark Murray

The Boston Globe covers Ferraro’s resignation yesterday from Clinton’s finance committee. “‘I am stepping down from your finance committee so I can speak for myself and you can continue to speak for yourself about what is at stake in this campaign. The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you. I won't let that happen.’”

“Earlier yesterday, the 1984 vice presidential nominee apologized to those who thought it racially insensitive for her to suggest that Obama wouldn't be the Democratic front-runner if he were not black. But she then declared: ‘It wasn't a racist comment. It was a statement of fact.’”

The New York Times uses the resignation as a peg to write how race has once again become an issue in the Clinton-Obama contest. “[R]ace, as well as sex, have been unavoidable subtexts of the Democratic campaign since the two candidates began seeking to be the first African-American or the first woman to lead a party’s presidential ticket. In the primaries and caucuses this winter, too, Mrs. Clinton has enjoyed substantial support from women, while Mr. Obama has increasingly drawn overwhelming votes from blacks."

More: "Clinton’s reluctance to sideline Ms. Ferraro, who made her comments last week to The Daily Breeze in Torrance, Calif., left the specter of race hanging over the Democratic contest. That decision drew a sharp rebuke on Wednesday from the Rev. Al Sharpton … who questioned whether Mrs. Clinton’s campaign was keeping the issue alive as a way to win white votes in Pennsylvania.

The Los Angeles Times adds, "In the latest sign of a racial rift in the contest, two prominent black pastors warned Wednesday that African American voters could become so discouraged by the campaign that they might stay home in November if Clinton is the nominee.

Both campaigns were trying to make this week a battle of military credentials, but race has largely overtaken the issue.

NBC/NJ’s Athena Jones reports that Clinton had to deal with the race issue almost exclusively at last night's black newspaper conference. She was asked about Geraldine Ferraro's remarks and whether she had done enough to make sure those involved in her campaign knew that such comments were not acceptable. "Well, I said yesterday that I rejected what she said, and I certainly do repudiate it and regret deeply that, you know, it was said. Obviously, she doesn't speak for the campaign. She doesn't speak for any of my positions and she has resigned from being a member of my very large finance committee," Clinton said, before going on to say that both she and Obama had had to remind supporters and staffers that this primary campaign should be about the issues.

"We are aware that this happens, but we are particularly sensitive to it because of the nature of this campaign and who each of is. We do stand against it. We repudiate it," she said. "I think that given the intensity of feelings surrounding this campaign, we have been able to manage it well. It's not been common but when it happens, we both have spoken out and taken appropriate action."

When asked afterwards if she was satisfied with Clinton's answer, Barbara Reynolds, the NNPA columnist who asked the question said she had hoped for more. "Sometimes I don't think that she can feel the racial insensitivity like we can. This is why they don't get it. It's not that she's a bad person, but when people say things, you know, she can't get it, because she doesn't feel like we feel and I think some of us are very sensitive anyway, because of how we have lived and sometimes these things can fall on her ears differently. But she should rely on her black staff people to immediately tell her, 'Oh this is horrible,' because she should have come out immediately and demanded that Geraldine Ferraro disassociate herself from the campaign.”

The AP says that Clinton’s biggest apology at the conference last night “came in response to a question about comments by her husband, Bill Clinton, after the South Carolina primary, which Obama won handily.” More: "I want to put that in context. You know I am sorry if anyone was offended. It was certainly not meant in any way to be offensive," Hillary Clinton said. "We can be proud of both Jesse Jackson and Senator Obama."

MSNBC Morning News this morning had a "breaking news" line that says "Clinton Sorry, Ferarro not" They go on to talk about how Hillary "apologized"...they then played a clip of Hillary Clinton saying about Bill's Statements "I'm sorry IF PEOPLE WERE OFFENDED..."

That is not an apology - That is the biggest non-apology out there, and it is condescending to the voters. She's NOT sorry for the statement or for the sentiment - She IS sorry it may lose her votes, because people might be offended. There is a HUGE difference.

Oh, and there is another prominent politician we all know and love that refuses to admit when he's wrong, and it has been a huge disaster....George W. Bush.
By playing the race card, Obama's supporters are sending a message to both his supporters and his detractors.

Obama supporters are in a frenzy attacking anyone that supports Clinton as out of touch "baby boomers".  Isn't Obama a baby boomer?

Politics is a fight and so far Clinton keeps tagging Obama with punch after punch while Obama whines and cries.  What he is getting hit with is compounded by the fact that the media has now been shamed (as they should be) into asking him tough questions that he tries to avoid answering.

If he is the nominee, he will get pummelled by the Republicans because so far Obama appears to be unable to take a punch or hit back. He can't close the deal.
I stand by my statements of yesterday (which I won't rehash) and I am personally trying to move on.

I do think damage has been inflicted on both sides but I'll leave it at that.

For whatever Ms. Ferraro did for this country in the past, if she continues to inject herself into this race in the way she has done over the past few days, she does it at the Democratic party's peril.

That's unfortunate, but I'm moving on.

Obama 08
Clinton benefits from this "racial rift" on which the news keeps reporting and given the tactics of her campaign, it would not surprise me if this whole flap is strategy. Sick.

I honestly don't think there is anything to it - yet. I thought we'd finally gotten to a point where a candidate can run a post-racial campaign. Then came Hillary's narcisistic despiration. And I wish the media would stop stirring this particular pot, no good can come of it.
Al Sharpton is mad at Clinton.  If I were him, I would be mad at Obama for distancing himself from me.  I really hope that Sharpton does not try to sue to keep voters in MI and FL from being counted.

She's right.

You got to love a pro affirmitive action hypocrite like Feraro. It's just fine to pass over qualified white candidates in the job market in order to give a a less qualified minority applicant a leg up but as soon as someone in her social class is passed over for a job in favor of a minority candidate who actually is more qualified it's a national outrage.
well, someone has spoken the truth, and nobody can handle it. that stupid al sharpton, who has the mentality of a ant. has always wanted to be the center of everything even if he had no idea whats going on.99% of the time,he doesnt. the guy is a trouble maker.
I find it amazing why the Clinton campaign feels the need to Reject remark's made by their surragates if as they say, they're Not coming from Hillary's campaign.Since the beginning of the campaign season, Hillary has reinforced her Negatives, Now we see that Bill's negatives have also risen.Maybe it's because voter's are realizing that although the 90'z were good, the 90'z were also full of scandals brought on by the Clinton administration & don't want to return to that kind of Political atmosphere.

Personally for me, i just want the Bushes & Clinton's gone from Presidential Politic's after 28 year's. It's an easy decision for me where that's concerned.

When I see and hear Obama, I feel proud to be
American . . . I see in one person the ideal of
pluralism . . . the best of everyone . . .
and I feel hopeful for the future . . . youth,
endurance, intelligence and innovation will over-
come the horrible mess that's been made by petti-
ness, wrong-headedness and greed.

When I hear the slights and slams and 'faint praise'
from Clinton surrogates, I feel sick to my
stomach. No wonder Rush Limbaugh keeps urging the
Clinton campaign on . . . even saying outright
that Clinton is willing to do the dirty work for
the Republicans.

Clinton cannot win the nomination, and, at this
point it would break my heart to see her on a
ticket . . . as her divisive tactics are so mean
and ugly.  That's just not the face America
should present to the world.

This whole thing is a big ugly distraction.  More of the scorched-earth campaign. How are those Clinton TAX records coming along???????? Hey, the Canadians say the Clinton folks contacted them about waffling on NAFTA.  And, by the way, the more we learn about Hillary's mythical 35 years of experience, the more we start giggling.  And who's this Peter Paul guy we keep hearing about??  And how much $$$ does it take to build a presidential library?
"We can be proud of both Jesse Jackson and Senator Obama."????  Is this yet another attempt to marginalize Barack Obama as the "black" candidate (when he happens to be half-white)?  Just like her "as far as I know" non-denial denial of a week ago, the Clintons know no bounds of decency.
She has so divided the party and Maggie Williams twisting this to be Obama's fault is amazing. Yesterday when the democratic party called asking for my dues, I expressed my displeasure with the nastiness shown, the woman told me that I was uninformed and should just quit the party now. I still believe in the policies of the party but cannot beleive how Karl Rove like the Clinton campaign has become. It is time for the super delagates to start stepping in and demanding all this stop, but they won't stand up to Bush so why would I expect them to stand up to Clinton.
Not sure this is passing the Commader in chief threshold.

Thanks for playing.
I think this was a part of the "KITCHEN SINK". I wish people would stop the "gender card" and the "racial card." Apparently they don't understand what they are doing!!!!! Why don't they put the people first instead of their greed to get into the White House.  I'm thinking that I will not waste my time on anyone of the candidates. Quite frankly I think we will be saying, congratulion, President McCain.
As a Black man, I really did not see any racial over-tone in Ferraro's message. You must be from another planet,if you think race does not play any role in this election. Can you imagine Obama getting over 80% of the black votes in Mississippi, and still say race is of no issue. If Obama was white, will he gets 80% of the black votes? I refused to cast my vote for anybody without a substance be it Black or White. I am a free thinker, not a follower.

She may or may not be a racist, I don't know or care.
The problem is she made a racist remark and got called on it, and can't understand why anyone would be upset.
The sad thing about it is she is in denial because she made the remark, but got mad because reports picked it up. So therefore she claims this is an attack on her by Obama. If that is the case then it must have been Jesse Jackson's doing that caused her to say the same thing about him back in 1988.
Let's face it Gerry, you got away with saying it back then because there was no 24 hour News cycle, but you can't get away with that type of thing anymore without getting called on it. No one is pulling your strings to make you say something like that. That is clearly how you feel, and that's fine, but don't expect for everyone to agree with you, and to take it at face value for what it means.
Keith Oberman's Special Comments last nite really summed up what HRC needs to do with this issue.  Also what the party needs to do on the same issue.
If Ms. Ferraro thinks that Senator Obama is the frontrunner in the Democratic race simply because he is a black man and that this is a "statement of fact", then she is insulting every one of his voters of being unable to see beyond race. If we are going to participate in the politics of slice and dice, let it be known the MAJORITY of Senator Obama's votes come from white people.

As Keith Olbermann of MSNBC said, Ferraro's statement is "ugly in its overtones, laughable in its weak grip of facts and moronic in the historical context".

Ferraro conveniently omitted another statement of fact: Senator Clinton is not a very good candidate. Her claimed experience is all vicarious. She hasn't passed any substantive bills in her 7 year Senate career. Her staff was picked for reasons of loyalty, not talent or effectiveness. And, yes, she did not bother to read the National Intelligence Estimate before voting for the war. Is it possible that Senator Clinton is "lucky to be who she is", because any other candidate with such an unimpressive resume would surely have been given any chance whatsoever.
Oh puuleeeze.  Can we all find something better to do with out time?
Sad thing is Farraro is right.
To the MSM please stop putting people on to try to take the sting out of what she has said.
If it was reversed and an African American said that the only reason Hillary is still in this race is because she is a White Woman, you would have been calling for that person's head. So just stop it! Joe Scarborough I'm talking to you.
Ferraro's comments are disgusting & despicable - and patently untrue! Worse, her ongoing belligerence and refusal to apologize is appalling... That she made almost identical statements in 1984 about Jesse Jackson is even moe troubling and is something the press MUST NOT let pass unreported...

Billary's refusal to immediately fire this clearly closet bigot from her staff speaks volumes...

Let us all remember the numerous racist comments made by Billary surrogates...

1) Bob Johnson (was not denounced and rejected by Billary);
2) Tubbs Jones (was not denounced and rejected by Billary);
3) Rendell (was not denounced and rejected by Billary);
4) Ferraro (was not denounced and rejected by Billary);

Then there's the 2-MONTHS LATE "wink-wink" apology for the words spoken by Bill Clinton in SC - done in a black reporters forum...  Such a self-serving, obviously cynical and transparently political ploy...

There is a clear and stinky cloud of racism emanating from Clinton campaign...

THE FOURTH ESTATE MUST HOLD HER PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE
I AM TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT THIS!  THE NEWS MEDIA HAS BLOWN IT OUT OF PROPORTION.  LET IT DIE!

WE KNOW HILLARY IS CRAZY -- AND OBAMA IS TRYING TO AVOID TALKING ABUT IT -- SO WHAT?  MOVE ONE
“‘I am stepping down from your finance committee so I can speak for myself and you can continue to speak for yourself about what is at stake in this campaign. The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you. I won't let that happen.’”

Only one problem with that honey bunch....
People will still associate your racist rants with The Clinton's.......

Both campaigns were trying to make this week a battle of military credentials, but race has largely overtaken the issue.

LOL, better keep it on race....
John McCain has more military experience then either one of you two idiots and your combined families combined.....

That decision drew a sharp rebuke on Wednesday from the Rev. Al Sharpton … who questioned whether Mrs. Clinton’s campaign was keeping the issue alive as a way to win white votes in Pennsylvania.

Leave it to Al to come in when the color of skin is discussed....

Obviously, she doesn't speak for the campaign. She doesn't speak for any of my positions and she has resigned from being a member of my very large finance committee," Clinton said

LOL, her very large finance committee?????
No wonder they are spending $25,000 for hotel rooms and $11,000 a month for Pizzas.....

Irish American, Italian American,German American,Polish American, Scottish American, English American, German American, African American!!!!!  Then who is the true AMERICAN.  Its great to know your roots but if you are going to say your AMERICAN then refer to your self as an AMERICAN without the extra taggs.  This is why our ancestors left these countries to give those of us today freedoms.  Look at hitory and how many AMERICAN born died for the freedom you have today. Then ask yourself why your ancestors came to this land.  As Americans we should love and pull together for those who fought to get us here.

Todd in Vicksburgh says  "Even with the mistake of NAFTA, he's still the best President that I've seen in my lifetime!"
Bill Clinton governed (mostly) under a Republican house and senate.  They (Newt Gindrich)  kept him fiscally responsible, kept spending and taxes down and allowed a robust economy left to him by 12 years of Republican leadership alone to prosper.

If only GWB's  Republican party had been as responsible with the taxpayers money the Dims would not now control the house and senate.

David Hunter from Bend asks.  Why you ask are the leading Dims not doing more to stop the self destruction of it's own party?  In  particular Gore and Kerry? Well let's take a look at Kerry first. Kerry has come out in support of Obama over Clinton, and I can't help but wonder if this could be Kerry's frustration on Hillary and Bill's Luke warm non-support of him 4 years ago.  I believe the Clinton's WANTED GWB in the Whitehouse for four more years, instead of Kerry for a possible back to back eight year term with Edwards as his Vice.  Then Edwards possibly serving another eight years as the President. A possible 16 years of  Democratic presidency.  That would have made Hillary almost 70 years old,  in effect shutting the door on Bill and Hillary returning to their kingdom/queendom.

As far as Gore is concerned take a look an article written by in October of 2007, by  Nick Juliano, http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Did_Hillarys_Senate_run_cost_Gore_1001.html

Bill and Hillary spent so much time and effort AND DNC money preparing for Hillary's run for the the senate that there was nothing left for Gore.

You want to know how America ever got to the point where GWB has spent eight years in office then look no further than the self serving political machine that is BillnHillaryClinton!

None of this is new information, it exists for anyone to go out to the internet to find.  If you only take five minutes to really look at the facts it would hit you in the face like a baseball bat!!!!

Hillary's failure to immediately and unreservedly denounce Ferraro's repugnantly racist comments shows her up as the insensitive opportunist she really is.
MSNBC is disgusting.  You accuse Mr. Obama of playing the race card everytime he calls HRC on her and/or her surrogates of making race baiting statements.  Then you have your frequent Racist surrogate Pat Buchanan making excuses for Ferraro all day Wednesday, and then on the Dan Abrams show Wednesday night, he tells an African American pundit to "shut up".  He wouldn't have been able to get away with it if she had been a white woman. Pat Buchanan wants to advance the constant idea that the only reason African Americans are voting for Barack Obama is because he is black.  They couldn't possibly be making the choice because he is the best choice.  If voting for Black candidiates were the only criterion for African Americans to vote.  Alan Keyes would be president by now.  MSNBC is condescending and horrific.
"It wasn't a racist comment. It was a statement of fact."

This quote reminds me of another, from "Anchorman":

"You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science."

Similar arguments: assertion of fact in regards to a discriminatory statement, without providing a shred of evidence.

Honestly, did Ms. Ferraro forget that Obama had to win in Iowa before he could get to states with significant black populations? Has she forgotten that prior to Iowa, Clinton was winning among blacks? If she hasn't, then I can only assume that she thinks all of Obama's votes were "white guilt" votes. The implication then being that Obama's merits do not begin to compare with Hillary's; that he's the benefactor of some kind of electoral affirmative action and nothing more.

Screw you, Ms. Ferraro. If your candidate is our nominee, I'm voting for Nader. I don't want scum like you working in the executive branch, thank you very much.
The Los Angeles Times writes that two prominent black pastors warned that African-Americans might stay home in November if Mrs Clinton is the nominee. Now,how RACIST is that?
This whole race issue has Hillary's name written all over it. This wasn't even in the headlights a week ago...not until it was brought up again by Clinton surrogate Geraldine Ferraro.  Now what is the media talking about?  Not the issues, but the percentage of black voters supporting Barack Obama and "can he actually garner the white vote in the upcoming primaries?"    That's the ticket.  Cast the doubt out there and it takes on a life of it's own.   Simple as that.

Barack Obama has managed to dodge every tactic the Clintons have employed so far.  Let us hope he can surmount this one as well.  He truly is the best choice to bring this country together and move it forward...and this is coming from an "older" white woman who is supposed to be in Hillary's camp according to the "experts."
I am a little confused - Barack Obama is black - is saying that he is black and that black voters may prefer him as a candidate, racist?  I don't think so!  He has stated that he does not believe Mrs. Ferraro's remarks were meant to be racist yet, his "campaign" calls the media to blow it all out of proportion.  And, we all know the media loves it.  Is Obama ashamed of being black?  I don't think so!  Is Hillary ashamed of being a woman? I don't think so! So, DEMS - lets get over the BS that the media is promoting, no matter on what side, and get on with the issues before our party is destroyed.  Don't let the media, some rogue Dems, and some pretenders (republicans posting here as Dems) whip us all up into a frenzy and destroy OUR PARTY!!!!!  If Obama is the great Uniter that we keep hearing about, why are his supporters so divisive?  That's why I really think the nastiest posts, with little or no sense of decency comes from the "pretenders".  Both these candidates have virtually the same voting record, same ideas in basic terms, and would both be great candidates for the general election.

One more thing - give the vote back to the people - 1 person = 1 vote.  We must do away with delegates, super or otherwise and count the popular vote - no matter who it helps - because that is the will of the people - AND get rid of the electoral college for the general = we all have access to information and know these candidates better than at any time in history.  It is time we have a true democracy here in our beloved U.S.A.  All primaries should be held on the same day to avoid undue influence, just as the general elections are.  Love and Peace - let the true democrates come together behind whoever comes out on top in the fall.  Yes, I do support Hillary BUT REMEMBER as I will in the fall - we certainly don't want another four years of GW.  Nuff said
The Clintons have become out of touch. That's how what should have been a coronation has become a debacle. She is not racist, but believes her history & that of her husband is written in the sky for all time. But in this day and age history is not so long. Feminists don't even remember Ferraro. Her current lack of action speaks louder than words. And the repeated transgressions are muting her timid apologies.

What's worse, loyal women will vilify Obama, even when he is nominee. They blame him for fate's cruel hand, when in fact, it may well have been Clinton's hubris. There is no doubt America is ready for a woman president, just not this woman. Instead of the landslide in November that is required to make the changes we all need, Obama will win by only a fading flicker of hope.
Clinton Camp - It's too late for two-faced apologies!!
Keith Olbermann for President!
Even beyond how ignorant Ms Ferraro's remarks are, she is just plain insulting, belittling the remarkable achievments in the life of a good man.
Of course this is indeed a planned part of the kitchen sink attack, keeps the conversation off of things Hillary would rather not have folks thinking about. What about those tax documents Hillary?
When did Al Sharpton wake up?  To be surprise that there are white folks that would not vote for a black man.

What the hell has the been fighting all this time?
This is ridiculous - this race is about race and Barack Obama is using it to his advantage.  Every little thing that is said about his race comes back as racist - the fact is that Farraro is right - any white first term, well-spoken senator running for president would not be getting any where near the publicity.  The fact that for the first time in our history we have an African American and a woman running for the highest office in our country is in itself notable.  Why can all the "female" comments be made and nothing said about Barack's race?  It is what it is.  The media needs to quit making such a big deal out of everything said about Obama.  I'm sick of it and quite frankly, am getting turned off on the whole election process.  The longer this goes on, the more likely McCain will win - which turns me off even more - four more years of a Bush administration is downright frightening.
As a Black female over 50, I can tell you that this is not racism. It is political opportunism. Gerry allowed herself to be a lightning rod for those statements in order to get the message out that Obama is just "The Black Candidate". She even goes so far as to demean herself by saying she was just the "Woman Candidate". This is shrewd, smart, insidious and Machiavelian in the worst way. They knew what they were doing and make no mistake this was no slip, nor an accident. That is the horror! The party will be destroyed by her hand if she does not get the nomination and will be destroyed by everyone else if she does. Pray for us all!

All of you out there who thought that Race was not going to be a part of this election, please stand up.

The only thing in play here is how the press plays it!

They should not be afriad to call Obama out the same way the call out Hillary.
Both Hillary and Barack started off this race by vowing not to use the issues of race and gender. That's exactly how Democractic voters wanted it. After over 7 years of a disasterous Bush administration, we all recognize the need to get things back into order.

The moment Bill Clinton compared Obama's campaign to Jesse Jackson's, Hillary's surrogates, with the help of the media, made this all about race. Surrogates talked about how Latinos wouldn't vote for a black candidate, they released photos of Obama in native African clothing, and one recently stated that he is where he is because of his color.

To my knowledged, I don't know of any Obama surrogate who has made an issue of Hillary's gender. Both Hillary and Barack promised to not make an issue of race and gender.

Hillary didn't keep her promise.
Ferraro should have known better than to make such a statement, not once, but twice over the years.  She is the one hurting Hillary's campaign, not Obama.  I don't recall Obama calling her a racist.  Personally, I don't think that remarks racist, but race-baiting.  Just like I believe that a lot of white women are voting for Hillary because she is a woma, but I am not a sexist.  I am a woman.  The comments that Ferraro made, in my opinion, were made clearly to get whites to support Hillary because she is white, because blacks support Obama because he is black; that is 'race-baiting.'  The Clintons are trying to win regardless of the consequences, and this is why I find this issue so appalling.  They are willing to split the party by dividing white women, blacks, and hispanics.  They are the democratic base!  She is willing to sacrifice the democrats chances in November for her own personal gain.
Why was not the comments made by MS Obama racist, when she said that she was proud to be American for the first time?

I do not see much difference in her comment and Ferraro's.
I think that Geraldine Ferraro voiced what a large number of people think.  Only we are so caught up in being politically correct that there is no honest dialogue about race and gender in the Democratic nomination process this year.  Any time you are critical of Obama you are considered racist.  Once the Republicans start attacking Obama John McCain will have to spend his entire campaign disavowing statements and firing people.  Certainly Obama's campaign will be crying "racist" at every turn.  I go back to the Iowa primary when Michelle Obama said "we won and there ain't no black people in Iowa".  That set the tone right there that the Obama campaign was going to play the race card.  Why couldn't she have said we won because Barack is the better candidate!!
You dems will get creamed in November if you try this politically correct nonsense on the rest of the electorate...I'll say it...I will not vote for a black man because they have not shown they deserve it...call me racist is you want but I'll bet 70% of America agrees with that sentiment
Chris Matthews did his best last night to try and give Ferraro a pass using the last portion of her statement as a defense against the same. That people have grabbed on to this concept of having the first African American as President. Matthews should know better based on similar comments that Ferraro has used in the past regarding a person having accomplished what they have because they are Black.  She gets no pass.

I am convinced this was a ploy by the Clinton camp to use for the PA primary knowing the attitudes of some folks in PA and attempting to drive a greater wedge between these people and their predjudices and Obama. Ferraro was used because she could not be damaged. She has no political future due to her age, she did not hold a high level position in the Clinton camp so could be sacraficed, she is a well known woman in politics and played the poor me defense as a way of increasing  Hillary's support among the females in PA. There is no doubt this was a planned event by the Clinton camp. I hope it backfires.

And I take my earlier suggestion back about sending people from Obama, Japan to PA to teach some of the  folks in PA some tolerance. Based on the most recent polls showing an increase in Hillary's lead in PA it is apparent that many in PA have hardened their lack of tolerance and would most likely end up running these poor visitors from Japan out of town. Let's move on to NC.
I want to WARN everyone... VERY IMPORTANT!
PLEASE READ!!!!

I have caught wind that Republicans are writing on these blogs. They are intentionally becoming an Clinton supporter that hate Obama supporters and vice versa... They are changing there party to Democratic so they can vote in the upcoming primaries.

They have found a weak spot in this Democratic primary thus far. They see the opening to divide us... They have been the ones that have been feeding race and gender into our politics.

Clinton supporters & Obama supporters I urge you to unite! Let us not be against each other!!! Let us join forces and fight together to get out of the war in Iraq and make much needed changes in Iraq and at home!

Obama and Clinton differ so slightly on policy... This fight is mostly about personality.  Also one difference is a top down mentality versus a bottom up. Either way they have good intentions.

Please I urge everyone: Obama and Clinton Supporters to unite with whoever is the Democratic Presidential Nominee.

Let's change the tone of this race TOGETHER. We can support our favorite nominee at this point. But let us do it in a less divisive manner. We can point out what we like about our choice, and try to say one good thing about the opponent.

I love America and I love what these two candidates see for our future.

Let us unite Clinton and Obama supporters and be a force the Republican candidate John McCain cannot reckon with...

I have been one of those supporters that bashes the other opponent.  But i have seen what has done to me and to others.  I have even said "oh if the opponent gets the nomination I will not vote for that person, I will stay home or vote for someone else"
Then I asked myself "what do I want for the next 8 years" It definitely was not McCain... and I am sure if Clinton and Obama supporters asked themselves that same question the answer would be similar.

Lets unite and do this together.
Thanks,
Celeste
