Pelosi: Dream team unlikely

From NBC's Mike Viqueira
Speaker Nancy Pelosi said today that "a lifetime of political gut" tells her that an Obama-Clinton or Clinton-Obama ticket is not in the offing.

"Take it from me, that won't be the ticket."

She added that while she has no doubt that there will be a "dream team," it will not include both of the two principals currently battling it out. "I just don't think it's going to happen," she said.

She was asked to clarify remarks she made earlier in the week to school children in Boston, where she was quoted as calling the prospect "impossible."

She also expressed a bit of anxiety about the tone of the Democratic campaign.

It IS a slow news day... Another non surprise!!
My dream ticket:

Barack Obama/Jim Webb - 2008

Both are intelligent and neither of them are afraid to speak out about the travesties of the criminal Bush Administration.

To echo so many others here - experience has gotten us no where in DC. Actually, it has hurt us.

Time to clean house.
I posted this yesterday in regards to Domenico’s post about the Clinton argument that we’ll all hear over the next 6 weeks.  She’s going to do everything she can to set up the media and the public to think that whoever wins Pennsylvania should be the nominee. If she wins, even by only a small margin, Wolfson will be out the next morning demanding that, “the Superdelegates must do their duty and IMMEDIATELY endorse Senator Clinton as the voters have clearly spoken.”  Here’s the post:

Domenico, Chuck, et al,
At the heart of the Clinton argument is a specious assumption that a candidate who receives millions of votes in a state primary would not win that state in the general simply because one other candidate received a few thousand votes more.  In other words, the Clinton campaign is essentially trying to infer that “New York, Mass, CA, etc voters (hard to keep up with who “counts” in their playbook) rejected Obama.”

This assertion seems, um…somewhere between debatable and laughable.  In fact, because of the Barack-driven massive turnouts this year, the precise OPPOSITE of their assertion is almost certainly true.  If you look at the number of votes Obama received in each of the so-called "big" states, I’d bet all the money in the Clinton donut fund that he received MORE votes this year than ANY other Democratic primary candidate has in history.  Yes, Hillary received a few more.  But to infer that Barack doesn’t have support on his own (much less the support that would swing to him as the Democratic candidate) is ridiculous.

Dom, Chuck, Mark, you guys must have the stats on this.  You’re terrific numbers guys – what say you?

What do these Florida Dem cheerleaders say when you ask them how they would react if their kid broke the rules and then came back and said, "aw, come on Mom, you were just kidding about that."  Then when Mom said, "no, I wasn't" the kid threw a nonstop temper-tantrum about how Mom was "abusive and anti-kid."

Obama Releases His Earmark Requests; Calls on Clinton to do the Same.
Chicago, IL – Senator Barack Obama’s campaign today released his earmark requests for 2005 and 2006 and called on Senator Hillary Clinton to do the same. Last year, Obama’s Senate office released his 2007 earmark requests.

Obama 08
Talk about being negative.

no you can't.

no you can't
J. Merle,
Your "evil Chuck" posted your rants and drivel on the last section.  You can stop whining now.

Chuck, don't listen to this nonsense.  Makes 5-year-olds look mature.
We're all anxious about the tone of the Democratic campaign. The race between Hillary and Barack wasn't supposed to be about race or gender. It was supposed to be about the issues that we're concerned with. The sinking economy and the war in Iraq being two critical issues.

Of the two campaigns, there is one that has caused the most controversy with regards to racial references, fear mongering and praising John McCain. After over 7 years of Bush, Rove, and Cheney dividing us and scaring us, we're ready to change the tone in Washington DC.

There is only one candidate who is talking about making that change in Washington DC. Why Hillary Clinton and John McCain aren't doing the same is beyond me.
GOOD I THINK HE WOULD DESTROY HER CHANCES
B O STINKS
Only an idiot would think that just because "Clinton" won some big states (against a fellow Democrat,)that  it somehow proves she would do a better job against a Republican--there--in the "big" states in Nov. This logic is just plain stupid. The "Blue" states are blue because they are normally--democratic, and thus they would vote for a democrat.

On the other hand, if Hillary continues to divide and hurt the democratic party by her sloppy, negative, slanted, charactization's of Obama--well then--it would be up to us democrats to heal our party in order to defeat the republicans in November--DUH!
Nice to know my political "gut" is in the same place as Speaker Pelosi's.

I really don't think there is any shortage of talent within the Democratic ranks and I look forward to supporting the ticket (with my one caveat that it can't be somewhat annointed but must be someone elected fairly).

Until such time as there is one Democratic ticket and one Republican ticket, its going to be hard to get a sense of how the general election will go.

Women for Obama 08
Any ticket with a candidate who brings negatives of 53 is not a dream ticket.

Obama will get the nomination, unless super delegates opt to tear the party apart by not going with the candidate who has more pledged delegates. Obama can't pick Clinton.

A - she has those negatives.

B - she would completely energize the other side.

C - she does nothing to shore up any gaps that Obama may want to shore up with a running mate.

Obama will go one of two ways. Either it will be a geographic decision, in which Ohio (Strickland), New Mexico (Richardson) or Virginia (Warner) would be my bets; or he'll go with a recognized national security pick, in which I'd watch for Dodd and Zinni to be the short list.
Pelosi, along with all the other supers and elder dems are watching and they, along with the MAJORITY of voters are sick and tired of the disgusting pathetic tactics coming from the Clinton camp.  These supers know exactly what is going on. They know the math, they know all the "cards" that have been dealt, and they know all of Billary's spin.  These supers know that Hillary has no way to win this.  They know that her little "Big state" plan is a complete wash, and now, after the latest sham with Ferraro they are ready to make their move and end this thing.  They know that Billary is stubborn and selfish, and they were trying to save her some face by not FORCING her out, but obviously, the woman has no dignity and will stop at nothing, not even if it means destroying the party and causing a racial stir. They have a plan and I have a feeling it won't be too much longer until they act.  I only hope it's not too late!!!!

HRC has lost support from the AA's and NO dem can win in November without the support of the AA's.  There is NO WAY they will vote for her if she is the nominee, so i guess that, along with MANY other things, makes Billary  TOTALLY unelectable.

Obama 08
well pelosi was off about the dream ticket, but its for the republicans           McCain/Clinton '08
where did chuck's pink eye go?
it was better luck for obama!!!
Obama-Gore is the Dream Ticket!!!!
Thank you, Nancy !!
You said that Hillary's attack on Obama made it 'impossible' for the two to be on the ticket

Hillary is trying to blackmail herself on the ticket

NO DICE

Hillary WILL NOT BE ON THE DEMOCRATIC ticket !!

Obama/Edwards
Obama/Dodd
Obama/Sibelius
Obama/Napolitano

Obama/Webb is good, it might tip Virginia
But, I'm not sure about jim Webb's positions on the issues

Obama '08
Barack Obama IS INEVITABLE

Barack Obama will be your next President

(sometimes, evil is defeated)
I think it'll be Obama plus a Governor.  The Governor will be from one of these states: Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, New Mexico or Arizona.  The Gov of New Mexico would help the most on the experience front but the Gov of OH might be more help in winning the key states.
No Kidding!!! Now with that burst of BS out of the way lets move on!
To Pat in Boston not bad not bad at all.

Much wiser Republican gone Democrat.
If Pelosi is concerned about the tone of the campaign, she should sit the Clintons down and tell them exactly why she is concerned.

Where are the Superdelegates and why are they not providing leadership?  It is time for a group of them to declare support for Senator Obama based on Clinton's insufferable behavior.  I imagine that they are smart enough to realize that the Presidential candidate that will help them most with their own re-election efforts is Senator Obama.

As to the suggestion by the Clintons that Senator Obama be her number 2?  The reason she will push for that is for her own self interests.  She sees the Presidency as owed to her, and everyone should do their part to make sure she gets her due.

Enough of the Clintons, time to move forward.

Good, I don't want that to be the ticket anyway. Obama deserves a better VP for his ticket than Hillary Clinton.
http://www.politivine.com
Pelosi's right. My dream team Obama-Edwards!

As for Hillary ... well, the swiftboat campaign is alive and well in the Clinton camp and "officially" or not, Geraldine Ferraro is at its helm. The hair rising on the back of my neck tells me there are at least two extremely rich Republican-thinking women mascarading as common/ordinary/middle-class Democrats whose true (racist) colors begin to show when they start losing. Seems Geraldine was saying things like this about Rev Jesse Jackson almost 20 years ago when he ran against her. I guess "they all look the same" to her, right? I now see two monsters where only weeks ago I saw but one. Hell knows no fury like these "monsters" scorned.
I want to start out by saying I'm republican for the most part, but do not, and did not like George Bush. I have been watching, reading and listening to everything about this election like most of you. I for the life of me can't understand how "Billary" is even allowed to run for the highest office in the country! The words Clinton and Scandal, are pretty much the same! Now if Hillary had divorced Bill ten years ago, maybe I could believe half of what she says! The whole Obama "movement" escapes me also. I am a lifelong resident of  Il. And am old enough to know that you don't get anywhere in politics in Chicago without owing someone, something! The Daily machine still holds the power. The freshman senator is if nothing else a great speaker, mostly if scripted. The biased media is now finally taking a closer look at Obama, and more will be revealed about him in the coming months. The thing that really gets me is his church. Out of all the churches in Chicago, why did he choose an all black church that endorses Farrakhan, denounces whites and Jews alike? If the white candidates had an affiliation with the Aryan brotherhood for example, don't you think they would be vilified in the press to say the least? Obama calls himself a "unifier", but to me, actions speak louder than words! The fact he doesn't acknowledge the flag of our country gives me pause for concern, as it should you all also. It makes me wonder what his agenda really is! The fact he is still in his first term and already making a bid for the White House without accomplishing much in the Senate is also a concern. A "present" vote is basically a safe move politically if nothing else. Our great country is in dire straights, and two Tax and Spend LIBERAL Democrats will only serve to bring our country down even more! People, make no mistake, John McCain is NOT George Bush! He is actually more moderate than conservative, and that is not necessarily a bad thing! He has the proven leadership, and has shown he can "cross the aisle” to get the job done. I truly believe that if he had been elected in 2000, the country wouldn't be in the mess we're in now! Vote for a PROVEN LEADER, vote McCain!
A bit of anxiety?

How about your head will be as clean as Michael Jordan's once you lose all of your hair watching John McCain win the election by 5 points in a year God himself has made it your destiny to win????

Pelosi is paving the way. She knows that Obama is going to be the Dem nominee and just wants to be kind and let Hillary down subtlely that she will not be the chosen VP running mate.

And not to worry Obama supporters. The Dem leaders and superdelegates know that Hillary is a divisive figure and will end up throwing their support to Obama.
Is there any news about whether super-duper delegates may come in to try and end this thing pre-PA?  If Clinton says the superDs have pure discretion, can't they use that discretion to say that the race is harming the party and Obama has an insurmountable lead and it is time to call it quits?  Why has no one even ASKED that question?  Does anyone doubt that this would be the best thing for the democratic party?  Does anyone doubt that if it were Clinton p by 150 delegates that folks (including Clinton) would be pushing that view?
OMG!!

Obama's race implosion...

Your racist views are going to cause Obama to lose.... You are going to get the exact opposite of what you want to achieve....  You can't force your cynical view of Democracy down peoples throats, look whats happened in Iraq, and they are not nearly independently minded as Americans are. It's a lot to do with Iraq's history, but it does not change the fact....

I know many left winged pundits, and 99% of AA pundits such a Chris Matthews, and almost all at msnbc and the Obamaites wish to stifle, disenfranchise, suppress, take away, keep from counting, anyway to stop the votes of three million plus people, from counting.  Just look at Al sharpton, he is going to sue Florida, yes Al Sharpton....

But the backlash has already started.

We the general population, don't like, highly detest, denounce and reject this racist pandering of political pundits and politicians.  Obama will get beat in the general (because of you,) too many Democrats believe and I think rightly so, that "you" are trying to force you views down the throats, of those, who don't agree with your political agendas.

I only hear the word racist with regard to "white" voters, explain to me how it is that 92% of AA's in Mississippi voted for the "back" candidate.  Especially when 60% of them said "race is important to me," if that were whites saying this, they would be bigots and all other kinds of bad things. It makes me sick how rich liberal white guys try to force feed their "pseudo guilt" to the rest of us.

When Obama falls, look to yourselves, and others like you, who tried to use racism, as a basis for silencing others, and forcing us to accept the (BS) that only white people are racist.  The bigots in Ohio, bigots in Pennsylvania. and so on where Obama lost, and maybe is going to lose.  We are tired of hearing this negative, divisive, demeaning, (BS).  In the beginning I had decided to vote for Obama, if he won the nomination.... No more

Hillary, if not, then McCain.   And we are Legion....

We are much more strong willed, than the bubble gum democrats who don't have a clue about what Obama stands for, other than "Change!"  Gosh they are so brilliant..... and the so called well to do democrats, who want to experiment, because they feel they are insulated from the results in their "play election choices."  Leave it to msnbc to say the Obama democrats are more loyal than those backing Hillary, msnbc is the only place where I hear this. It's simply not true, and I have not seen or "read" this anywhere else.  Just the lopsided, warped, unsubstantiated, low balling, democracy subversive, views of msnbc.

There has been a big shake up with their talking heads, and it most likely will get worse.  They have the least objective news and lowest ratings of all the news organizations.  They are the absolute worst at trashing Hillary, and praising Obama, including Chris Matthews chills running up his leg as he listens to Obama speak.  More likely it's the tingling of dying nerves from diabetic leg, due to lack of circulation.

The race thing has turned me off to Obama, the way Axelrod, black pundits, black politicians, the swooning, liberal, gutless, talking heads, and press.... try and  tell "us" how and what to think.... There is an area of their collective anatomy, where the sun don't shine, I suggest they stick their ideas there....

Take a look inside Obama's church of twenty years, listen there and look there, twenty years.... The "great uniter's" pastor and his language and physical body actions alluding too and about Bill Clinton.    By the way, I don't hear that uniting stuff much anymore, from Obamaites, about unity, and a different kind of politics, bringing people together. I hear constant slicing, kicking and cutting, and tearing vicious attracts on Hillary, and "anyone else,"  who don't agree with his and their gaseous, evaporative, rhetoric.

New Hampshire-Bradley Effect-racism
Fairy tale-racism
President LBJ legislation-racism
You don't like my candidate-racism
Ohio voted for Hillary-racism
Jesse Jackson's name-racism
Chris Matthews, calls the 3:00am phone call-racism

92% That's ninety two percent of blacks voted for Obama in Miss. (because he is the best candidate) ain't no way that "they," the way blacks vote, could be interpreted as, or could be called racism.  Down scale, medium scale, up scale blacks, they all voted the same. Even when 60% of AA's said race was important to how they voted.

Give me a break, we are tired, sick, and fed up with this, and please note that Obama actually did start talking "substance" when he was "stumping" in Ohio.... Apparently he felt the "down scale democrats" actually needed some substance to his rhetoric.  That his message of "change" and "yes we can" was not enough for the "simpletons".... He was right, they saw right through his high flying words, and chose another candidate.

But "you" called it racism, the Obamaites, called it racism.....

It's not going to work the "backlash" has started.  We are sick of it.  White guilt, is not going to work for you, "lunch bucket" Democrats are not dumb, and they won't be so easily manipulated, it won't elect a president.  Obama has a long way to go before he can convince the "core democrat white'' vote, they are tough, and issue oriented, and don't give a rats back side, about high flying platitudes of a melancholic pessimistic message regardless of the rhyme....  They want to know how they are gong to feed the bull dog...not some latte liberals poodle's appointment for a shampoo and toe nail clipping.

Dr Francis Crosby.
Barack Obama & Jim Webb.
Nancy Pelosy needs to go to church with Obama and listen to his mentor and pastor spew racial slurs at her the "rich white folks who run this country"

She wouldn't be backing Obama after that.

Does life begin in Washington D.C., and is that why Barack doesn't have life experiences? Does her experiences as a lawyer for Wal-Mart hold more value than his experiences as an organizer on the streets of Chicago and helping people to get the proper training & employment assistance? I thought a president is supposed to lead for the people.

Barack Obama/Jim Webb '08

Time to turn a page on the Bush & Clinton dynasty, which have both been full of corruption & scandals.
Only an unintelligent person would think that just because "Clinton" won some big states (against a fellow Democrat,)that  it somehow proves she would do a better job against a Republican--there--in the "big" states in Nov. This logic is just plain stupid. The "Blue" states are blue because they are normally--democratic, and thus they would vote for a democrat.

Bill Clinton/ Spitzer 08 !  Let the fun begin!!
Exit Poll in Mississippi asked the question

Should Hillary Clinton pick Obama as Vice-President?

57% of voters responded YES, 40% Responded NO

Among those 57% responding YES, 72% of voters were Obama Supporters
I'm glad that she finally put an end to this silly notion.  These voters will now have to make a definitive choice instead of straddling the fence.
Hillary has some questions to answer about her earmarks, specially the one's involving the million dollar earmark for the hippie museum in Woodstock for the Billionaire, who paid for it with a campaign donation.

Why would Obama accept the VP post when he is kicking her butt????

pelosi needs to concentrate on her own troubles in her own congress (the most "ethical") and who's numbers are lower then president Bush

How is Pelosi doing against Cindy Sheehan?
That's more of a news story.

That's right...put a 4 year freshman Senator with a 2 year freshman Senator on a ticket...that's a nightmare, not a dream ticket.  One's even less experienced that the other...get a clue man!
Keith Olbermann, YOU are the man !

You spoke for many concerned true democrats last night and we love your show !

It is really hard to believe Hillary is still a democrat. There is nothing democratic about her, with all her bullying, tricks and games. She doesn't even care about the party. Can't people see this ?

Once again, thank you Keith.
Obama-Pelosi, '08?
THE ONLY DREAM TICKET WE SHOULD BE VOTING FOR IS:
"CHARACTER & INTEGRITY"

HILLARY HAS SHOWN HER CHARACTER -- SHE HAS BEEN CAUGHT IN TOO MANY LIES! AND ACTS OF DECEPTION!  IMAGINE HOW SHE WILL BE IN THE WHITE HOUSE -- WE HAVE ALREADY BEEN LIED TO AND DECEIVED BY GEORGE BUSH (E.G. THE IRAQ WAR AND WEAPONS ON MASS DESTRUCTION!!)

MCCAIN IS NO LEADER -- HIS OWN PARTY DOESN’T WANT HIM!  HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT ECONOMICS -- THIS IS WHAT HE NEEDS TO GET US OUT OF THE ECONOMIC CRUNCH WE ARE NOW IN!  HE KNOWS ABOUT BEING A SOLDIER IN THE MILITARY BUT NOTHING ABOUT STRATEGIC DECISION MAKING OR LEADING MEN FOR THE MILITARY!  THERE IS STILL THE MATTER OF MISCONDUCT WITH A CERTAIN LADY -- WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER BILL CLINTON!

WE HAVE NEVER CAUGHT OBAMA IN A LIE -- NEVER!  THIS IS A MAN WHO WILL BRING AMERICA BACK TO ITS PLACE OF POWER AND RESPECT!  GIVE HIM A CHANCE -- WE CAN'T LOSE WHAT WE HAVE ALREADY LOST.  WE ARE FINANCIALLY IN A HOLE WITH CHINA BECAUSE OF THE IRAQ WAR, FOOD AND TOYS ARE CONTAMINATED, JOBS ARE BEING SHIPPED OUT OF THE COUNTRY, PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR HOMESTEAD, PEOPLE ARE LIVING ON THE STREETS AND WITHOUT HEALTHCARE, CRIME IS INCREASING!

"TODAY" IT IS SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS FINANCIALLY STRAPPED.
"TOMORROW" IT COULD BE YOU!
THE LONGER THIS PROBLEM GOES WITHOUT FIXING; THE MORE PEOPLE IT WILL NEGATIVELY IMPACT.
IT'S THE DOMINO AFFECT – EVENTUALLY WE “ALL” FALL DOWN.
LET’S FIX THIS PROBLEM NOW -- WE CANNOT AFFORD TO WAIT!

VOTE CHARACTER & INTEGRITY

VOTE OBAMA
Worst congress in history WTG Nancy!!
That so called "dream ticket" would never work no matter how you look at it.

OBAMA/Clinton:  Would you trust this woman to be your VP if you were Obama?  She would either sabotage his every move in order to be able to say "told you so, you should have picked me".  Or worst, she would immediately try to have him eliminated by any means necessary, so that she could be president anyway, by default.

Clinton/OBAMA:  First of all, his job as VP would be redundant with Bill Clinton, as the unelected VP.  Also, how could he come aboard with Hillary, when they don't share the same moral ethics, or her "how low can you go" mentality.  He would have to really lower his standards to join her cabinet, and then we would lose the respect we now have for him and that would ruin his chances of being elected in 2012.  Hillary certainly wouldn't care, she would have already gotten what she wanted by then.
http://twocanpete.blogspot.com
Why would Clinton pick Obama now? The fix is in. Next to Ohio, Florida is the best state to throw an election. Seeing as she 'won' Ohio, with the help of Rush Limbaugh, she figures she has it sewed up.
The way the two camps are going at it, dream ticket is an impossible scenario.  Since both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are senator, they would be wise to look for a governor as running mate.  Bill Richardson is a very attractive candidate.  For Obama, Richardson can carry the latino vote too.

Unbelievable:

You have the wrong analogy.  What is happening now is similiar to what would happen if my daughter came home having done something wrong and I punished both her AND my son.  The voters of MI and FL did not do anything wrong.  Normally, in a democracy, we punish the people responsible for wrongdoing.

Hillary 08
Sorry Patty from SD, CA...

Pelosi is correct.  Hillary being a former-Republican must have remembered one of  Reagan's laws, "Thou shall not speak ill of another Republican!" because she essentially said that McCain is qualified to be Commander-in-Chief and Obama is not.

The problem with Democratic Party is that Hillary and Bill Clinton think that they run the party.  Howard Dean and the other members of the DNC stripped Michigan and Florida of their delegates, but Hillary is loudly demanding that they overturn their decision (actually Hillary's as well since she agreed with no delegates out of Michigan and Florida).

Dream Ticket
Barack Obama/Jim Webb - 2008

Anyone that is a Clinton supporter I would love to know who you would like for VP spot.

You never know in this election how things will go...
I will support the nominee...
If Ms. Pelosi has a sense of anxiety about the tone, she (and the other superdelegates) should as Hillary to get control of her campaign and ratchet down the derogatory and abusive comments. Maybe HRC thinks it wikll dupe future voters, like it did in Texas and Ohio, but it surely will lead to the Dems loss in November. And if she doesn't agree, we all know the supers have just a little pressure to apply...

Hilary Clinton’s apologies would have been enough, but many people see them as insincere considering that race-card was thought out as part of Hilary Clinton’s “kitchen sink strategy”. It was their game-plan to do and say anything to win the election first and apologize later. Many Americans see through their strategy and that is why she will not win the presidency if she wins the Democratic nomination.
George
