First thoughts: Running out the clock?

*** Running out the clock? It appears the Michigan re-vote legislation is hanging by a thread. Clinton is traveling to the state today to try and bring more attention to the fact that it isn't her campaign that is standing in the way of re-vote. Her desire to make this case is obvious: Clinton needs these do-over contests in Florida and Michigan -- and needs to win them by big margins -- to convince superdelegates that she should be the nominee. The question is: Will primary voters in other states care about this issue? (Or will they see this as pure politics, given the fact that Clinton never spoke up about Michigan and Florida until right before the South Carolina primary?) The Obama campaign appears to be gambling that they won't. After all, no matter how long you’ve served in the Senate, you know this one truism about American politics: It’s always easier to do nothing. This is good politics for Clinton if there is a re-vote or if she's the nominee, because while Florida is a battleground in the general, Dems have a path to 270 electoral votes without it. Michigan, on the other hand, is an absolute electoral vote necessisity for the Dems. This is TRULY the big Obama gamble; killing the Michigan revote may expedite his path to the Dem nomination, but he's got real work to do if he’s the nominee. By the way, by going to Michigan today, isn't Clinton sending the message that without a re-vote, her chances at the nomination are much more remote?

*** The known and unknown about Obama’s speech: The speech on race that Obama gave yesterday has drawn rave reviews. It was a bold and daring speech. Could anyone else have discussed both the injustice of slavery and white fears of busing? As we predicted, he hit a homerun with the media elite; in fact it was batting practice -- with the political world watching. It's hard to find an editorial board in the country that didn't praise him for this speech. But as others including NBC’s Tim Russert and MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough have pointed out, its political impact is unknown. Will it play as well in Scranton and Asheville as it played in DC? What was interesting was the reaction on the right. The thought leaders on the right seemed to praise the speech, while its political leaders clearly see gain in keeping the Wright story alive (see Newt Gingrich's comments). While McCain may not be comfortable using the race card in the general against Obama, plenty of others may see the electoral map pragmatism in it. In fact, one thing may have become clear yesterday, regardless of how well received Obama's speech was: His electoral map has probably shrunk. His path to 270 will be different than Clinton's, but it will be just as much of a tightrope. Obama may trade Ohio for Virginia and Colorado, he won't be simply adding to the 2000/2004 Dem map.

VIDEO: NBC Political Director Chuck Todd offers his first read on Barack Obama's racial divide speech and takes a look at Hillary Clinton's search for a Michigan revote.

*** A few other race thoughts: Yesterday presented an opportunity for Obama to audition in front of millions of Americans responding to one of the nation’s trickiest topics. And here’s a question these voters may be asking themselves: After the last eight years, which person -- Clinton, McCain, Obama -- do they want to see on their TV sets for the next four to eight years? On that test, Obama probably scored very high marks. Neither Clinton nor McCain appear to have an ability to give that great speech; it's never been their strong suit. But it's not as if the current occupant got to the White House by being a great orator. One other unintended consequence of Obama’s speech: If he’s elected president, does this mean Democrats can no longer accuse the religious right of being too political? One thing the American public is learning is that the black churches are just as political as the Christian conservatives.

*** Beyond Pennsylvania: On this fifth anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war, Obama gives yet another big speech today -- this one in Fayetteville, NC on the topic of Iraq. Indeed, Obama's schedule this week includes travel in three states, none of which are Pennsylvania. He's in North Carolina today (May 6 primary), West Virginia tomorrow (May 13 primary) and Oregon on Friday (May 20 mail-in primary, with ballots mailed to voters as early as May 2). Of course, this is central to his path to the nomination: While Clinton is expected to do well in Pennsylvania (and Kentucky and West Virginia, too), Obama has the opportunity to offset those losses in other contests, allowing him to hold on to his 100-plus lead in pledged delegates. Clinton's schedule is also now showing diversity from Pennsylvania with West Virginia and Indiana on the docket. Bottom line: Both campaigns are sending the message that Pennsylvania, while important, is not the new Iowa. If anything, the next Iowa may very well be Indiana.

*** McCain’s misstep: For those who have focused on every word of the Jeremiah Wright controversy or who have paid attention to every nuance in the back-and-forth over re-dos for Florida and Michigan, you might have forgotten that McCain has been overseas in the Middle East on a CODEL with two of his closest friends in the Senate. And yesterday, the presumptive GOP nominee -- who has staked much of his candidacy on his support for and knowledge of the Iraq war -- made a pretty significant misstep: He stated several times that Iran (a Shiite country) was helping Al Qaeda (a Sunni organization), which obviously is incorrect. After friend Joe Lieberman, who is accompanying the Arizona senator, whispered into his ear, McCain corrected himself. As we asked earlier, what would have been the reaction if Obama or Clinton had made this mistake? (Or what would have been the reaction if either of them, after clinching the Dem nomination, had taken a taxpayer-funded trip to the Middle East that seems more political than senatorial?) One of the ironies of this presidential contest is that despite his high profile, McCain’s words, actions, and past haven’t received the scrutiny that a presumptive nominee usually gets.

*** Is the worm turning? Earlier this week, we noted that the Clinton campaign hadn’t publicly announced the support of a new superdelegate since February 7 -- and that since Super Tuesday, Clinton had lost seven supers (including Eliot Spitzer) while Obama had gained 47. But that now has changed. Per NBC/NJ’s Athena Jones, Iraq war critic Rep. Jack Murtha of Pennsylvania is now backing Clinton. It’s a BIG pick up. "Her experience and careful consideration of these issues convinced me that she is best qualified to lead our nation and to bring credibility back to the White House," he said in a statement. In addition, we learned through the Charleston Gazette that DNC Committeeman Pat Maroney is supporting Clinton, and Maroney previously wasn’t on our list. So Clinton picks up two new superdelegates, which changes our superdelegate count to Clinton 255, Obama 217 and our overall count to Obama 1,625, Clinton 1,506.

*** A significant hire: Speaking of the Clinton camp, here is some news we reported last night, but which bears repeating: The campaign has hired Democratic pollster Geoff Garin. The question becomes, of course: How does this impact pollster and chief strategist Mark Penn? Some in the campaign have been arguing for months that the chief strategist shouldn't be polling his own message ideas. Garin, one of the most respected Dem pollsters in the country, is someone who will have instant credibility inside the campaign and -- more importantly -- with worried anti-Penn donors. Above all, Garin brings an expertise in many of the key states where Clinton needs big victories, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Indiana. In fact, there are very few Democrats who win in Indiana without the help of Garin. By the way, news of Garin's hire has warmed the hearts of quite a few Clinton supporters, at least the ones we've heard from.

*** Confronting the big issue: So President Bush -- like Obama today and Clinton on Monday -- is giving a major speech marking the Iraq war anniversary. Of course, such a speech is totally appropriate. But Bush still hasn't addressed the nation on the current economic angst that is gripping the country.

*** On the trail: Elsewhere today, Clinton is in West Virginia, where she has a discussion with veterans in Huntington and then holds a town hall in Charleston; McCain remains overseas; Obama holds a town hall in Charlotte, NC after his Iraq speech; and Bill Clinton spends his day in Pennsylvania.

Countdown to Pennsylvania: 34 days
Countdown to North Carolina, Indiana: 48 days

HILLARY CLINTON HAS SUCCEEDED IN MAKING 'RACE' THE PRIME ISSUE IN THIS NOMINATION CAMPAIGN.
I'm a white republican and I not only voted for him, but sent him a contribution yesterday.  This country needs leadership in difficult times.  Yesterday, I saw a leader with courage in a time of crisis.  Obama is not responsible for Wright's political views formed in a different generation.  The GOP (ironically, my party for the last 30 years) will just look small if they continue to play those clips over and over.  Not this time, I believe the country is smarter than that.
Thank you...thank you so very much,Hillary for being a strong proud American woman wanting to save our Country. You do not get any credit it all goes to someone who shares your ideas literally. Can not tell you how he will make this Change in the world...Or what he stands for,Women's Rights,etc..Even when you pick up 2 super delegates Obamacans the nasty people they are call them old and war mongers..lol  Obama has far from united anything!!!!
Oh really?  So now the Obamabats want to elect "THE PREACHER IN CHIEF"!  I do not want a follower of Wright and his hate in our WH!  I do not want to see a Michelle who is barely able to respect with pride the fact she is an American.  The children are listing to the same drivel at church so the beat goes on...where does it end?  The WH has so much poison in it we do not need MORE!
It is extremely clear from McCain's statements that he did not mix up words or mis-speak; he said exactly what he believed -- repeatedly. It wasn't a senior moment, it wasn't a gaffe --- he simply believes things that are not true, even after people have corrected him. It is very similar to Ronald Reagun's modus operandi when he repeatedly told those untrue anecdotes. For many people a good story is better than the truth. You just have to look at your email inbox of urban legends from your friends and family to know many people operate that way.
Jerry (Sent Wednesday, March 19, 2008 9:58 AM)

Jerry you would have never voted for him anyway. Your logic doesn't make sense. Have you ever listened to one of Reverend Wright's sermons? Try listening to Audacity of Hope sermon and then formulate an opinion. You cannot reduce the man to 2 thirty second soundbites. No one agrees with everything that everyone says, and no one should be held accountable for the things that they disagree with someone on but I mean really be honest in your assessment instead of trying to make talking points. You should be ashamed to even use that as a reason to not vote for anyone!!
"He hit a home run with the media elite" Who would have expected that?

He struck out in fly over country.
The economy is very bad. Why waste the government's money and resources with this revote that wouldn't make any difference to the delegates map.

Hilary is just selfish, as poor as the economy is, especially in Michigan, she wants them to waste all this resources just to further her helpless selfish cause. Those resources could be put to better use. Hopefully Clinton supporters get the message. This race is over.

Step down Hilary and support our new President Barrack Obama.
greatest speech in years. The political analysts just didn't get it, or really didn't want to get it.
Obama has them on the run. I usually listen to Rush when in the auto but turned him off after 3 minutes of his callous remarks. Same for Hannity

"Obama lied the first time asked- if he was there during these hate spewing speeches by Pastor Wright. AND, the truth is that he and his wife truely believe in their Pastor and what he says. "

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
j, Senator Obama said that he was not in attendance when the comments Pastor Wright made in the clips that have been played over and over again were made. He DID NOT say that he NEVER heard Pastor Wright say anything offensive.

In terms of what Senator Obama and his wife "truly believe", I will take their word about that over yours.
Those people on here who are ranting and raving against Obama (you know who you are) were ranting and raving against Obama before the Wright comments came out and they will continue to rant and rave despite Obama's speech.  His speech was not aimed at them because they aren't going to change their minds.  They will vote for whoever opposes Obama, even if his opponent was Satan himself.
Mike, this is probably too late to get posted, but Sen. Obama DID mention that AA's must be more responsible in this regard. Listen to the speech again, and or READ it more thoroughly.
Up until this point, less than 5 states have decided the Democratic nominee, and that has been just fine . . . now the process is "unfair" if "only" 48 states get to decide?

Maybe the process has always been unfair and now folks are squealing about it because they are losing . . .

Welcome to the real world - where we play the cards we are dealt and deal with the consequences.
fortuna, Houston, TX (Sent Wednesday, March 19, 2008 10:13 AM)

It is truly sickening, I know, I used to be shocked by his assessments. Now, he can no longer SHOCK me, (I must admit though I was finding myself with my mouth wide open in disbelief far too often on his show). I am surprised they have kept him on so long!!
So, if I am white and don't back Senator Obama, I am a racist. Thanks for defining me in your little world of make things up to make yourself feel good about your choice.
Seems like the racial divide is a non-issue unless Obama supporters need it to prove they are enlightened and Clinton supporters are hateful monsters, double standards again.
Senator Obama made a very good speech and for his supporters that is enough, but for democrats that are still unsure he is the best candidate he has not talked about what he would do.
It is a very safe bet to just talk about the things we already know, it is much harder to put yourself out on a limb with real policy positions in your public speeches, Senator Obama avoids talking about his positions in favor of nice speeches that do not edify, clarify or give us the information we have been waiting for since his campaign started.
It is not my fault I have not got on his bandwagon yet, I am still waiting for the real goods, speeches are just words, clarity of your positions is so much more edifying.
Senator Obama has avoided acting on what many, even in the media are saying, 'What would you do to aleviate our problems on the economy, the war, failing infrastructure, the deficit and the racial devide that still quietly prevails in our country"?
No more nice speeches, more substance. Do you get it yet?
Like Glen Beck says--Hilary--

TOO BAD

Your leaders-- not Barrack Obama-- broke the rules.  Blame them --ignorant clintonites--not Obama.
In fact,  FIRE THEM,,IMPEACH THEM,, WERE IS THE VOICE OF THE VOTERS IN MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA--ARE YOU COWARDS? CAN'T YOU PUT THE BLAME WHERE IT IS DUE--WITH YOU STATES' LEADERSHIP? I AM EMBARRASSED TO CALL YOU MY COUNTRY-MEN- BECAUSE YOU, THE PEOPLE OF THE STATES OF MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA HAVE NO GUTS!

YOU SIT THERE AND CRY, "UNFAIR, MY VOTE SHOULD COUNT!"
AND I AGREE--IT SHOULD--  BUT WHO REALLY DISENFRANCHISED YOU---YOUR STATES'--LEADERSHIP--

I SHOULD HAVE BEEN WATCHING MARCHES IN THE STREETS OF FLORIDA AND DETROIT LAST NIGHT WHICH INSISTED THE THE STATE LEADERSHIP RESIGN FROM OFFICE IMMEDIATELY--OR PAY FOR A NEW ELECTION FROM THEIR OWN POCKETS--OR THE THEY SHOULD BE IN COURT FOR THIS TRAVISTY.

THIS WOULD NOT STAND IN THE STATE WHERE I AM FROM.

"This is TRULY the big Obama gamble; killing the Michigan revote may expedite his path to the Dem nomination, but he's got real work to do if he’s the nominee."

I could not disagree more. No matter what happens or does not happen in Michigan and Florida, it is not Senator Obama's fault. These states "gambled" that they were above the rules, and they lost. Perhaps the Democratic party should have thought of this when they created such a drastic penalty. . . but there is absolutely NO WAY you can pin this on Senator Obama (at least not with a straight face).

Your observation is irrelevant because voters in those states will ultimately punish whoever the Dem. nominee is that did not stand up for them and demand their votes be counted.  Since Hillary sought to have their votes heard, and Obama did not, if Obama is the nominee, he will be punished by those states' voters, regardless if the true culprit is the overly harsh punishment of the DNC or that it was those states themselves that brought this upon them.  Hillary is the only candidate who can do well there given this analysis.
even though Joh Duh-bya McWars is showing himself to be as much as a nitwit as the man he's cloning, Obabma's ship is sinking fast because white AMerica is just not smart or eveolved enough yet to embrace even a great black man for president, Hilarity will get the nod, her past dug up, be ripped to shreds, and Joh DUH-bya will have his hundred years of war.  Withougt me---I poan to take my kids to Canada as soon as he restarts the draft. Too bad white America isn't smarter, we could avoid this whole thing by voting for Obama.  Oh, well, America will ONCE AGAIN get the imbecile president it so richly deserves. And as for the Democratic Party?  I'm out of it.  For good.
'...killing the Michigan revote may expedite his path to the Dem nomination, but he's got real work to do if he’s the nominee....'

HA, HA
This hurts Hillary
Who's fault is it ?
Try the MICHIGAN POLITICIANS
Beginning with (Hillary supporter) Gov Grandholm
THEY SCREWED UP !
So did the FLORIDA POLITICIANS !
Serves them right !

Split the delegations 50-50
Tough luck, Hill !!

'...By the way, by going to Michigan today, isn't Clinton sending the message that without a re-vote, her chances at the nomination are much more remote?...'

YES !!
SORRY, HILL !!
You evil plans are thwarted !!

Obama '08
If McCain needs prompting on such a basic foreign policy issue as this, it is very obvious that Obama will have no trouble in winning in November. This was absolutely devasting to McCain. This tape is out there now - it won't go away.
"Will it play as well in Scranton and Asheville as it played in DC?"
--I honestly have my doubts.  It was a beautifully nuanced, elegant and honest speech.  But, in general, people see little beyond the exterior--or as I have previously noted that I believe voters to be stupid--my running assumption.  (*note* this is not a knock on either Scranton or Asheville, but voters in general.)  And I enjoy the pleasant surprise that comes with being proven wrong.

--I could relate to the speech, too, and that was it's strength.  Not related to race, but I'm Catholic and there is much that I disagree with the Church regarding.  But I could not disown the Catholic Church (even as much as Chuck, Mark or Domenico dislike it), as it is a part of me.  And if I did leave, where could I go, as NO church fits or manages by personal and political beliefs.  I would be surprised if anyone could honestly disagree, but could they admit it?

--He also spoke of the generational divide.  Mr. Obama's pastor comes from a past generation, whereas Mr. Obama is focused on the future generation.  That is such an important point when approaching race, because the generations are completely on different playing fields.

--One last note on his speech.  Did anybody notice subtle defenses of all the criticisms levied against him.  (The focus on him as a Christian, how much he loves this country, that he's not naive, that he's not perfect ...)  That was off the top of my head, but I thought all of those were subtle and interesting, but nobody seems to have picked up on it.  What a great speech for a college thesis to dissect the nuance.

"Democrats can no longer accuse the religious right of being too political? One thing the American public is learning is that the black churches are just as political as the Christian conservatives."
--But do they push their politics so strongly in public?  I don't think so.
Awwwhhh...a Republican DIRK FROM Brunswick, Georgia...I find?

Where have you been, "My Friend"!

Please tell me why McCain is running for the highest office in the land and doesn't know anything or much about the economy?

Why is he being reminded by Leiberman during a conference what the facts are about who's supporting who and who is training who in what country overseas?

Please tell me why McCain did not reject and denounce the Pastor Hagee and Parsley endorsements?  They too have crazy views of why things happened are and will remain to happen to and in our U S of A.

I wonder about the double standard, hey if McCain is your guy...got it, but don't tell me about Obama and I won't tell you how jacked up McCain is.

What is measured?  I measure McCain with a Zero for even being that naive, being a warmonger and running for the highest office in our land at a time when we are looking for supreme guidance and a real leader.

I am as liberal as the next guy, but Obama's speech was nothing to rave about. Rather, it was a political blunder because he did not distance himself from the Rev. Wright, but instead, stood up for him. This will make greate political fodder for the McCain campaign to use against him in the general election, and will kill any chances that this country will see a black president in the foreseeable future.
At this point I am very discouraged...not by the candidates but by the American people.  I guess I'm old.  I remember the civil rights struggle, the Viet Nam War.  I guess I'm a child of that time.  Everyone was a social activist, like Reverend Wright. It showed good social conscience to agitate and point out the faults, failings and dirty laundry of the government.  It was a way of demanding accountability  of the the government, to right these wrongs.  And....there have been many wrongs...sorry to tell you younger people who I suspect really never knew or have forgotten these things.  To start off, I want to tell you that I am a white woman, daughter of a turkey farmer and raised Republican but now Democrat.  Not only was there the civil rights struggle but other things were being revealed,  such as black soldiers being infected with syphillis as guinea pigs by the military .  My uncle Bob fought on the beaches of Normandy in world war II.  When he returned he was used as a guinea pig by watching an atomic bomb go off in the Nevada test sites.  He was one of those close enough that he was blinded for days from the flash.  Within weeks he had luekemia(radiation sickness) and died within the year.  You should have heard my Grandma (a great woman) bash the USA over that one.  The government continued their atom bomb tests and downwinders in the west (mostly whites) died in record numbers from cancer.  Many other horrors and injustices continued to come out, at home and in other countries where we meddled and fought to protect American Interests (big business).   Back then it was considered your civic duty to look into these things and call for change.  Reverend Wright has stayed with that calling. It appears he is a good Christian and being that, calls for better treatment for all God's children.  His style of delivery is a throwback to the past.  Well, that was a long time ago, and people now have pretty much become good little workers and consumers who prefer to keep their blinders on.  The banter seems to be that anyone who strongly critcizes this country ought to leave or be ostracized or hung or whatever.  We've become stagnant, self righteous, childish. Obama is a once in a lifetime quality candidate.  But America won't elect a black man, nor will they elect a woman. McCain will win the presidency. I will continue to read and post on this site and hope for a miracle but my excitment and enthusiasm has deffinately been dampered.
Please someone put a stop to Hillary! Remember travelgate? why would we want anyone whom is involed in anything illeagal to be president? Is this Country crazy? She is all about "HER" and no one else, folks in Pennsylviania PLEASE PUT A STOP TO HILLARY!

You're an idiot. Get a life.
As impressive as Senator Obama's recent speech was, it raises many questions regarding his conduct as it relates to his involvement with Rev. Wright:  (1) What does it say about Senator Obama that he reversed his earlier assertion that he was unaware of his pastor's radical sermons?  (2) Since we now know that he was present, why did he choose to remain in the church and continue to expose himself and his family to such toxic beliefs?  (3) Why did the senator fail to challenge Rev. Wright on these appalling staements?  (4) What does this say about his discernment and willingness to create change in this divisive forum?  (5) And, finally, if Senator Obama lacks the moral courage to confront wrongdoing in his own church, how can we expect him to act differently as president?
BRAVO
j,fl you hit the head on the nail...
the United states is no longer United...
Because of Obamacans you are either one of them or you are no one.He is the GREAT UNITER ...he is the GREAT DIVIDER!!!
McCain's slips on Iran/Iraq just goes to show how we don't want to go from the current dimwit president to an even greater and ultimately more dangerous dimwit and doddering old president.
Chuck, NY: '...Predictably, the Clinton Broadcast System (CBS), the Clinton News Network (CNN) and Hardball all downplayed,...'

Actually, MSNBC gave the speech GREAT Reviews
Chris Matthews was pretty much on board
I think Obama (predictively) hit a home run

He's an honest, decent man who is intelligent and insightful
Of course he did a wonderful job
The media can't deny that
(and it didn't)

'...All I know is he once again proved his keen insight and judgment are above those of his opponents.  HRC couldn’t make a speech like this if her life depended on it, and McCain would look ridiculous reading from the teleprompter like he always does...'

And Slick Willei looked studpid, as always
He was 'mugged' !

'...Today and tomorrow, he is giving major speeches on Iraq and the economy.  I rest comfortably that he will continue with 2 more brilliant speeches with incredible foresight...'

Obama HAS TO PIVOT
Start talking about pocket book issues that will attract working class and blue collar workers
Start talking EXCLUSIVELY about the economy, health care, taxes, education

THAT'S THE TICKET

Obama '08
Now that Obama has addressed - and put to rest - his relationship with his pastor, I wonder when Hillary will be required by the press to address the next big elephant in the room - her husband's immoral behavior while president. Does Hillary recognize how Bill's sexual escapades were an insult to every American who voted for him, will she repudiate her husband for his immoral activity, and will she please explain why any of us with impressionable children should vote to put a sexual predator and serial adulterer back in the West Wing?
Why doesn't Howard Dean step up and put an end to this FL and MI issue by declaring that the delegates be divided 50/50 - no harm, no foul. The states blatantly BROKE the rules. To allow them to count these bogus returns sets a dangerous PRECEDENT for future years. BUT - to placate the states a bit, Dean can do this neutral 50/50 split -  thereby allowing the delegations to attend the Denver Convention. Seems like the only fair and sensible solution. And let the true culprits - the MI and FL officials who broke the rules - face the consequences by having to explain their actions to their constituents.
[I am really proud to have encountered a politician such as Barack Obama in my lifetime, no matter what happens from here on out.
Kym]
--That really is the sentiment of many of Sen. Obama's supporters.  Simply having somebody of his caliber, background and beliefs running as strongly as he his, is wonderful.  And in part, no matter what happens, his supporters will feel victorious.
Did he lie? Barack's pastor...did he lie? Is America trying to punish a man for telling a truth that is uncomfortable? Nothing that this pastor said was a lie and I dare anyone to qualify his statements as being lies. You damn hypocrites! America has stuck its nose in where it didn't belong with regards to foreign poloicy and yes it has come back to haunt the U.S.  The question is the same, did this man lie? Aaron Knight
TheDonald: '...The strategy to give the story a life began when Geraldine Ferraro made the remarks that most people saw as racist and then with the help of the conservative media, they put the Rev Wright story into public domain...'

It actually started with Ed Rendell saying that white people wouldn't v ote for a black candidate

It continued with Slick Willie saying he was 'mugged' about his racial remarks in South Carolina

Sorry, the Clintons are too transparent and too obvious

'...They have also successfully made Obama look more of a black candidate running for president rather that a candidate running for president who happens to be black...'

Ain't happened yet
That's what they want
It won't work

'...The impact on Obama's presidential campaign remains to be seen...'

We'll see
The Clintons are building up a lot of bad karma
They're really pissing off a lot of people
They've lost already......
She can't catch up in pledged delegates
She can't catch up in states won
She can't catch up in the popular vote

Game over

Barack Obama is inevitable

Barack Obama will be your next President

Obama '08

J fl, you're smarter than that.  Nothing he said yesterday was different from, or contradicted what he said last Friday.  When you suggest otherwise, it's YOU who are lying, not him.

Reality Check

I know liberals struggle with what is a lie and what isn't a lie, but now it appears to have reached the absurd level. Obama knew nothing about Wrights racists remarks last week, but this week he knows about them? What Obama said last week is a bald faced lie Reality Check.

"Reality Check"? What a misnomer.
Did anyone notice that Joe Biden appears to be tipping his hand ?

Just like Nancy Pelosi

When the Clintons were in power, Democrats lost control of both houses of Congress

Because they were so partisan and divisive

Why would elected officials support THEM ?
To lose Congressional seats in Red states ?
To reap a fragmented and divided Democratic party ?

I DON'T THINK SO

Barack Obama is inevitable

Barack Obama will be your next President
IT'S OVER FOR OBAMA and I can see from these comments that most of you don't get it. White Americans will never be able to forget the things they heard coming out of Rev. Wright's mouth and they will not accept Obama's lame apology which once again blames white people for how Wright, and other blacks, talk about America and white people today. I still cannot understand why he continued to go to Wright's church after knowing the kinds of nasty things Wright was saying. His excuse was not enough for me. Sorry! I know Obama supporters don't like hearing it but it's the truth.
Hey Jerry, any comments on McStupid?
Hillry getting Murtha's support is a big win?  i think NOT!  He should be in jail for being caught taking bribes!  He is one of the worst in earmarks and pork barrel spending.  He only endorsed her because she promised him a job in her cabinet.  At least he fits right in with the monster Hillary!
Kym [[I hope today starts a new day where we can get past this issue of race, it is ridiculous. I am disappointed in Dan Abrams, he really does not have a clue about anything other than what he learned growing up. He really can't think outside the box.]]

Abrams is devoting his program to bashing Democrats. A "po'd" writer asked when he was going to cover McCain's blunders and cheap shots.

Abrams said he'd do it for the general election. By that he apparently means after the two parties' conventions, which occur in August and September. So that means Abrams will continue bashing both Clinton and Obama for another 5 months or so.

It also means that Abrams will turn to McCain for only about 1 month (while bashing the Dem nominee, of course). And Abrams will ignore any major blunders McCain might make over the next 5 months such as the incredibly significant gaffe McCain made about Shiite Iran allegedly training Sunni Al Qaeda. No mention of that last night while Abrams was attacking Obama. That's almost as "fair and balanced" as Fox News.
Hillary may be projecting desperation, but this is in no way a win for Obama, especially in the eyes of Michigan and Florida voters.  He talks about being a candidate for all of the people and yet turns his back on millions of voters in two states.  Make no mistake.  This 'running out the clock' fools no one and it makes him look bad. If I were living in Michigan or Florida I would be thinking hard about what other ways he would turn his back on the citizenry as President?  I would also think hard about voting McCain.
Obama is deliberately doing everything possible to prevent re-votes in Michigan and Florida.  It looks like he will succeed.  But millions of voters will be disenfranchised.  Kindof makes me sick to my stomach.
Obama will never let a revote happen in Michigan and Florida because he knows that he will lose badly. Originally, when he was leading, he said he wanted a revote but now Obama, after the Rev. Wright debacle, doesn't want a revote. Obama speech did nothing to change how angry white people are at realizing how much some black people hate them and America.
For all those who rant against Rev. Wright's statement about HIV/AIDS, don't you think that a 40 year US government study (1932-1972) of Untreated Syphillis in the Negro Male (Tuskeegee Study-  (called the most unethical study in medical research) might make some people a bit paranoid?
Dirk,
Wolf Blitzer may as well be drawing a check from the Clinton campaign.  He's hardly a person to look to for un-biased coverage.  Fox News wants this to drag out as long as possible; of course they're going to downplay it.
No candidate owes me an explanation for something one of their freinds said or believe. Hillary, McCain or Obama. I am concerned with principle, not the associate. Have I made myself clear? I sure hope so. NEXT.
Based on what I saw on various news and cable networks last night was a parade of Black and Liberals praising the speach along with Chris Matthews declaration that it was one of the most historic speaches ever made - LIKE I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT FROM THE OBAMA NETWORK.  Even a number of Fox News programs invided mostly Black pundits to reflect on the speach.  However, those who weren't Obama backers found a number of problems both with the speach and Obama's judgement; and I believe many open minded (not open or secret Obama supporters) also found the speach off target and not addressing Obama's poor judgement on this matter.  Fortunately not everyone was waiting to swollow the BS whole while the Obamanites fell over each other to equate the speach to the second coming of Christ.
Oh really?  So now the Obamabats want to elect "THE PREACHER IN CHIEF"!  I do not want a follower of Wright and his hate in our WH!  I do not want to see a Michelle who is barely able to respect with pride the fact she is an American.  The children are listening to the same drivel at church so the beat goes on...where does it end?  The WH has so much poison in it we do not need MORE!

Oh yes I forgot to say heil and goddamn  America. We all must practice in case BO is the new stink in the WH!
Chuck Todd do you honestly think either Obama or HRC can pickup Virginia in November? Come on- I mean the state is trending more towards the "Center" but with a decorated military veteran who is moderate on a lot of issues i.e. the environment etc Virginia is not going to vote for a Democrat outside of the Arlington/Fairfax Counties region!! So if Obama can't win in Ohio {which seems plausable} and alienates Michigan he has no shot of winning no matter how many blacks and college kids turnout!!
Thanks, Reality Check, for stating something that has been bothering me in reading comments about Obama's speech. In the speech, he said he has been present when Pastor Wright has made comments that some would consider controversial. This in no way contradicts his statements on Friday, when he said he was not present when Wright made the specific incendiary comments being blasted over the airwaves.
