Obama: McCain represents a third Bush term

Posted: Thursday, March 20, 2008 1:51 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Aswini Anburajan
CHARLESTON, WV -- Obama declared that McCain would carry out a "third Bush term" in a speech that stressed that detrimental effects the Iraq war has had on the American economy.

"When you're spending over $50 to fill up your car because the price of oil is four times what it was before Iraq, you're paying a price for this war. When Iraq is costing each household about $100 a month, you're paying a price for this war," Obama told an invited crowd at the University of West Virginia in Charleston.

The speech followed one he gave yesterday in North Carolina, where Obama argued that the war had strategically damaged the United States.

In today's speech, he hit McCain early and often in his speech, saying that his call to renew the Bush tax cuts during war time was irresponsible. "John McCain once opposed these tax cuts -- he rightly called them unfair and fiscally irresponsible. But now he has done an about face and wants to make them permanent, just like he wants a permanent occupation in Iraq. No matter what the costs, no matter what the consequences, John McCain seems determined to carry out a third Bush term," Obama said.

The "Bush-McCain policies," Obama continued, had "ballooned" the national debt.

Using the words of Robert Kennedy, "past error is no excuse for its own perpetuation," Obama claimed that McCain has refused "to learn from the failures of the Bush years."

"Instead of offering an exit strategy for Iraq, he's offering us a 100-year occupation," Obama said. "Instead of offering an economic plan that works for working Americans, he's supporting tax cuts for the wealthiest among us who don't need them and aren't asking for them.

The McCain campaign responded with a statement. "Today, Senator Obama once again displayed how fundamentally wrong he is on the central issues facing America's future: our economy and national security," said McCain communications director Jill Hazelbaker. "On the economy, Senator Obama offers the tired tax and spend ideas of the past... On national security, Senator Obama would rather rehash the past than look forward with resolve to address fundamental challenges and opportunities we have today to secure our future. He has embraced an irresponsible policy of withdrawing our troops from Iraq without regard for the conditions on the ground."

In his speech, Obama ran through a laundry list of domestic priorities that he claimed had been laid to the wayside because of the money spent in Iraq, a notable political move in a state that has extreme poverty and one of the highest numbers of veterans and enlisted military in Iraq.

In a race where the Democratic nomination is still up for grabs, the lack of references to Hillary Clinton was notable. While Obama mentioned McCain eight times, he only made one cursory reference to Clinton, talking about her own criticism of McCain "for supporting the policies that have led to our enormous war costs."

Obama went on, "But her point would have been more compelling had she not joined Senator McCain in making the tragically ill-considered decision to vote for the Iraq war in the first place," he said.

Senator Jay Rockefeller introduced Obama and told the crowd that he knew from Republican chatter, "I know that the one person that John McCain does not want to run against is Barack Obama."

West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin also spoke, as he did when he introduced Hillary Clinton on her visit to the state earlier this week. He has yet to endorse a candidate, and was careful to say neutral in his comments.

Obama owes the American people an apology for lying to them about being in the pews of that hate filled racist america hating church, when his racist, hate filled pastor was spewing his hate.

Obama is a hypocrit and a liar.
It is time for all the garbage to be dumped in the trash and time to focus on the issues our country is facing.

Obama sounds more and more presidential every day!!

OBAMA '08 - Yes we can!

"Tax and spend."

We hear that all of the time from the GOP talking points.  "Democrats will simply tax and spend."  What has been happening for the past five years then?

We get taxed.

It is spent on the war.

Eight to ten billion dollars per month folks.  That's billion with a 'b'.

Tax and spend indeed.

I'm sure at times Senator Obama, especially early in his career, has had to maneuver as a traditional politician, in order to build a base. I won't hold that against him.

How sad would it be if we, as a country, would reject the most hopeful, potentially great president in generations, simply because his pastor has serious issues to work out?

I'm a 48 yr old white male from MI. I have some college and earn around 50k yr. I am not naive and do not drink kool-aid. Please don't insult my intelligence by accusing me of being brain washed. I can assure you, I am not.

I think MI should not have a re-vote. After Senator Obama has secured the nomination, I'm certain a reasonable solution to seating MI and FL delegates will be reached. You can not change the rules once the contest has begun. PERIOD

I do not hate Hillary or Bill. I try not to hate anyone. I could not bear it if she were to steal the nomination and if she were to pull it off I would vote for someone else.

We as a country have a once in a lifetime opportunity to take this great country, that I served honorably, to a place we could only dream of. Please give this man a chance. If history teaches us anything, Hill or McCain will be more of the same.

I appreciate all of the intelligent opinions here but not the thoughtless words of hate and intolerance.

Obama/Webb 08'
Not only that but after both Clinton's now have given rosey smiles to McCain I wonder how different their policies would be either. pOWER helps Power and the voters don't fall under that group.
Really Obama? $100 dollars per month per family? I think that only applies if America were a utopian fairytale where everyone was equal in wealth. You’re averaging that figure, apparently forgetting what percent of taxes are paid by wealthy households. Or are you just using the wealthy households’ figure to represent EVERYONE and brainwash your supporters who cheer along without doing the math. Convenient misrepresentation of facts.

Remember your Selma, Alabama speech? There you told a black audience it was because of the marches in Selma, which happened in 1965, that your white mother and black father were able to be together. And they cheered, and reveled, and chanted your name … even though you were born in 1961…

Divisive. Like all your speeches. Like all politicians.

And you’re supposed to be the CURE for old Washington? There isn’t and never will be a change candidate.

You don't have to agree with going to Iraq to know that leaving too quickly will be a catastrophe. Obama needs more experience to understand that. McCain, wrong to go. True. But he's the only one who can manage it from here, and if you don't like his poisition on Iran or extended deployment, then ELECT A CONGRESS THAT WILL CHECK HIM. It's called checks and balances. You don't need to agree with someone for him to be the best leader.
John Dingell, D-Mich has a 50 cent per gallon gas tax waiting for you sign.
Obama will implement the Black Agenda when he gets into the White House. He'll appoint Reverend Wright as his Chief of Staff, and all those preachings you heard Wright make in the last week will be the law of the land. Obama will show you who's in charge of the country, and it's not whitey.
http://twocanpete.blogspot.com/
There has been no better time then now for a third party!
No McCain. No Hillary. Not this time!

Potato Heads for Clinton

Mush Brains for McCain

Thinkers and Doers for Obama.

I see the Clinton camp has refused the Obama camp offer of seating the Michigan delegates and splitting the delegate vote. Now tell me that Hillary is oh so concerned for the rights of voters versus that of personal gain.
What Obama is not saying that a term with him as president is the same or maybe it will be worst than the Bush one....... OBAMA, YOU AND BUSH OFFER THE SAME.  CHANGE, CHANGE AND MORE CHANGES.
FR [[Senator Jay Rockefeller introduced Obama and told the crowd that he knew from Republican chatter, "I know that the one person that John McCain does not want to run against is Barack Obama."]]

Well, like so many other times in his life, Sen. Rockerfleer is wrong. It's getting to the point that it really doesn't matter who the Democrat nominee is this year, neither of them stand a chance in the general election. These have got to be two of the worst candidates to ever run for the office.
Senator Obama lays out the very real costs of the Iraq war that ordinary Americans are living with every day.  He asks us to consider the burdens that have been placed on our military, our soldiers, and on our soldiers' families. This war has made our military weaker, and undermined our national security. As Obama argues, we need a STRONGER military than we have today! Obama also shows real respect for the work and the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform.
Come on firstread, can you update us with Dodd's call for the 50/50 split?
Dear Clinton Voters (especially the ones in Ohio)

Due to you being DUPED by Hillary and her statements on NAFTA (the policy that took your jobs) please listin with rapt interest to following:

WARNING: THIS MAY BE YOU LAST CHANCE TO CURE THE DREADFUL DISEASE CALLED "CLINTONITIS-LARENGITIS"

I believe you must have been brainwalshed by the Clintonistas' Brainwalshing Machine which has inadvertently infected you with ""CLINTONITIS-LARENGITIS."

Futhermore: We can tell the tell-tale symptoms of said "brain addleation" from your common sense migration to "CLINTONITIS-LARENGITIS," for every time you open your mouths inaccuracys, inattention to detail, and right out un-truths distort, disrupt, and miscommunicate all clear and consise language communication.

Your Cure is simple and free for the present time only:

You must repeat the following statement at least one hundred time to be totally cured of
"CLINTONITIS-LARENGITIS."

"Obama is the one, the only one, who has been honest about his feeling and opinions concerning Rev. Wright: This inspires Trust.

Obama is the one: who gave an historic speech that challenged us to see beyond the color of ones skin: This inspires trust!

Obama is the one: who has spent his life serving others rather than trying to get rich: This inspires trust

The rich and powerful are few: but they will try to destoy Obama because of his stance on special interest:This inspires trust!

Obama is loyal to his loved ones/family: This inspires trust."

Did you say it one hundred times?

Then you now must realize the followning statement below.

It seems blantantly obvious to anyone with an education higer than third grade the Clinton has failed to INSPIRE TRUST!
.....and how.  McCain is Bush on steroids....he admits  numbers aren't his strong suit. Yipes.
Not to worry McOld can barley walk, anyone can run againt him and win!
I think Obama/Wright may do the trick.  lol lol
The only way the country can stop a 3rd Bush-term is to defeat John McCain, and the only way to do that is to unite with and vote for Senator Barack Obama.  Seantor Obama is the only one who can draw the distinctions needed over our failed Iraq misadventure because he has opposed it from the beginning, and the Clintons supported it from the beginning.  Vote Barack Obama in 2008!
The establishment have found their go to guy, (Jeremiah Wright)to try & derail Barack's nomination. This pattern developed early in the campaign,Muslim email, Madrassa's attended, Jesse Jackson,Picture in Native dress & Now, Mr Wright.Until this past week, America had fought for Barack & against the Establishment trying to Ruin a Great politician Again.I have No fact's that this is why Hillary was able to maintain a campaign after 11 losses in a row(so late in the season)other than Common Sense.
My support for Barack has Not & will Not be diminshed by this line of attack.Since Day 1, i have been an avid supporter & will Proudly cast my vote for Barack in May.I'm smart enough Not to allow this Public Lynching that is happening. I'm Smart enough Not to allow the establishment to Put the word's of 1 man inside the body of a Completely different man.I'm Smart enough to see that Barack has taken every hit from every angle coming from Hillary, Mccain,GWB, The MSM, The Religous Right Terrorist Bible Thumper's & whoever else has tryed to attack the man's Integrity, Judgement & Character & continues to Beat them All.Not a single one of us could withstand this kinda pressure, yet he has.His supporter's will Not allow this Public Lynching to happen as evidenced by his commanding lead in every category that matter's for the Democratic Nomination.

Stay on Offense Barack,we've got Your back!

" DELUSIONAL THINKING BY COMMON SENSE AMERICAN'S IS OVER"
You know, my wife is losing her job at some point his year.  Mine is none too secure.  We don't know if we're going to hang on to our house and every single daily thing we need for ourselves and our two girls has gone through the roof in the last two years.

But a person can listen to a lot of commentary here and other sources and for some reason we're supposed to ignore the one true chance this country has at a new direction based on what Barack Obama's preacher has said on a handful of occasions.  Not what Obama has said, what his preacher has said.

Unbelievable.
McSame....while John McCain is a great hero, he has not shown the ability to paint a new vision for the country.  We need a bold leader, who wants to do something big for the ENTIRE country...something big...willing to take risk.

Obama will show the country he can handle a controversy and bring not just his campign out on top...but the entire country.

Yes we Can...I am here for Ashely
Obama 08
For those of you who think the Wright 'issue' is more important than Iraq. . .please grow up.

Or keep writing a $20,000 check every year. That's what this war is economically costing every American family. A MUCH heavier issue than race.
I may be wrong about this....

But I seem to remember that everybody and their mother was talking about money and raising taxes and other such nonsense to fix all the bridges in America when that bridge fell down in St. Paul Minnesota.....

Funny how the liberals flushed that one down the toilet bowl.....

John Murtha might want to give back that $24 million earmark he got for his failed drug center in his district and donate it to help rebuild the bridge....

Same for Charlie Rangel, who stole $2 million earmark from the taxpayers so he could put his name on a building at NYU.
The way to solving problems is to first successfully analyze them. Senator Obama is way ahead of the others in his understanding as to exactly where they, (Bush, McCain, and Hillary), have gone wrong with this immoral war, NAFTA, and the near-to-breaking economy. He saw it coming BEFORE they misstepped us into this tragic mess. Bush, and McCain say, "Don't look back at past mistakes". (When did Bush ever admit a mistake)? Well if you're lost in the woods, or the jungle, or FAILED FOREIGN, AND ECONOMIC POLICIES, the first thing one does is to retrace steps, looking for landmarks that will lead safely home. Stubborn denial will NOT SOLVE THE ISSUES THAT WILL CONTINUE TO SLOWLY DESTROY US! Senator Obama makes a lot of sense. HUNDRED YEARS WAR INDEED. The man sounds like someone with one foot in the grave, and cares not whom he drags in with him. Lastly Mr. McCain, how in THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, can we leave a war with honor that was not entered into with same? Bush wanted any reason to invade, and you puppets were too cowardly to challenge him.
Pulling for Obama '08
Now you are going to see Barak Obama carefully return the attention to where it belongs.  The Meat and Potatoes issues affecting America today.

He needs to continue to ignore Hillary and pretend she does not exist because the more he acknowleges here and her clain to want to fight it until the end then the longer the redundancy will continue.  Mathematically she's out pending a all out miracle.
Oh, yeah, I'm going to vote for John McSame and give this country another four years to tack onto the disastrous eight years of the Bush administration.

Oh, yeah, and I am as dumb as a box of rocks, too.
A McCain or a Clinton administration would represent a third Bush term

Both supported the Iraq War
Both suppor War against Iran
Both supported NAFTA
Both supported WTO

Both supported Bill's Financial Services Modernization Act which allowed banks and Wall Street investment houses to merge and concentrate to their heart's content
Financials monoploies CAN'T be allowed to fail
That's why Bear Stearns wasn't allowed to die

If you're a big bank you can gamble with money as much as you want. Teh government won't let you fail
(as long as you contribute to Bill's 'Library')

Hillary Rotten Clinton, John McCain, Geroge W Bush and Alfred E Newman .... separated at birth.......
together in life

Obama has also supported the "policies that have led to our enormous war costs."

If Obama really opposed the war - why did he vote with Repubs for 2 years to fund it and Blackwater??

Why did Obama only stop voting to fund the war in 2007 - AFTER he became a prez candidate?

Oblahma lies and deceives the public!
I believe Obama has the description somewhat correct, although he didn't tie it together in a very eloquent manner. The war in Iraq costs approximately $150 billion per year. The Feds borrow money from China to fund the deficit, which is projected to be a record level this year. When the Federal Reserve lowers interest rates, but yet the Government borrows at record levels, it tends to deflate (reduce the buying power) of the Dollar. Fiscal irresponsibility is causing inflation and higher oil prices. Simple solution. Stop paying for the war and we reduce inflation. As an aside...why did Bush see fit to give Best Buy and Wal-mart a stimulus package? We could have better stimulated the WHOLE economy by spending the $150 billion on highways and infrastructure. Just a thought.

"On national security, Senator Obama would rather rehash the past than look forward with resolve to address fundamental challenges and opportunities we have today to secure our future."

McCain doesn't want to look at the past, only the future.   Hrm... what's that old phrase...

'Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.' - George Santayana
I don't believe MSNBC has ever reported that over and over Obama VOTED TO FUND THE WAR!

Obama and the media only mention his opposition to the war when HE COULDN'T VOTE!!!

Why are there no titles on First Read pieces today??
KEEP TALKING ABOUT THE ECONOMY

But, PLEASE !!!
Stop holding events at colleges and universities

Hold you events in FACTORIES !
Hold your events in UNION HALLS !!

Hold events with SEIU
Hold events with UNITE HERE

Start targetting working people  !

Obama '08
'Spend & Tax'? Talk about tired ideas of the past...

'Irresponsible policy of withdrawing troops'? Hasn't Obama made it clear that - as president - he will do what's best based on the intel of generals on the ground? Hasn't he said anything less would be 'irresponsible'?

Which of the two canidates - Obama or McCain - has been wrong about national security and the economy? I know, I've done the reading...

McCain is gambling on the old idea that voters are not informed. There is evidence of this in his lumping together of the warring insurgents in Iraq as all being 'Al Qaeda'. This isn't a tired tactic, it's exhausted. Anyone can look at their own lives to see that things are just not that simple.

I don't think John McCain is a bad man. On contrary, I think he has been a hero and a patriot. But what about that makes him better qualified to lead America forward?

So, do I love Barack Obama? Yes.

Will I vote for him? Yes.

Am I asking you to vote for him? Well...

I ask you, the way McCain and Obama are both asking you - Don't look to the past, look to the future. See America how it is, then envision how you want it to be.

Then ask yourself who will better realize that vision.

McCain and Clinton both act like this country is theirs.

That's crap.

This is our country, yours and mine.

Trust in whoever makes you feel that way the most.

Sorry for the rambling, and thanks for your attention.
While I do not believe Obama is a Muslim or that he is unpatriotic. I also do not truely believe he shares the same views as Rev Wright. I however now more convinced after the speech yesterday then before that he just does not stand up to tough issues. I still think it is a weakness to not stand up and try to unite the race starting from that church. Obama did not show that he is willingly to fight for unity at all levels. The idea that he is just now standing up and speak out against division between black and white is weak because it has self serving interest all over it. Now that he has much to loose, he is willing to speak out. However, when there is not presidential election on the line, then it was ok to allow hate to spread in front of you for 20 years. That right there is something I can not reconcile.
HILLARY CLINTON REPRESENTS A THIRD CLINTON TERM TOO!

THIS IS HEALTHY TO OUR DEMNOCRACY. NOT!
John Edwards will be on Jay Leno tonight - and I hope he and Gore stay neutral.
They will both be needed to heal the Dem Party after the Hillary and Obama strife.
Hillary LIED !!

'...Obama Camp: Clinton Owes Apology Over NAFTA Comments

Huffington Post   |   March 20, 2008 12:33 PM

Yesterday, with the release of Sen. Clinton's schedule as the former first lady, ABC reported:

One interesting event in Sen. Hillary Clinton's just-released schedules from the 1990s comes on Nov. 10 1993, when the former first lady was to serve as the closing act during a briefing on NAFTA, the trade agreement she now assails....

Two attendees of that closed-door briefing, neither of whom are affiliated with any campaign, describe that event for ABC News. It was a room full of women involved in international trade. David Gergen served as a sort of master of ceremonies as various women members of the Cabinet talked up NAFTA, which had yet to pass Congress.

"It wasn't a drop-by it was organized around her participation," said one attendee. "Her remarks were totally pro-NAFTA and what a good thing it would be for the economy. There was no equivocation for her support for NAFTA at the time. Folks were pleased that she came by. If this is a still a question about what Hillary's position when she was First Lady, she was totally supportive of NAFTA.

This contradicted earlier claims by Sen. Clinton that she had not supported NAFTA while in the White House, and it ran counter to her statements made during the heated run-up to the Ohio primary.

The Obama camp has wasted no time responding, with David Axelrod saying he has "to wonder if this was one of the reasons she was reluctant to get these records out there on a timely basis." He also called the issue a "question of character." Politico reports:

On a campaign conference call just now chief strategist David Axelrod said Clinton "owes an apology to the people of this country" for suggesting that she hadn't been involved in passing NAFTA when her schedules provide "direct, incontrovertible evidence that Senator Clinton was involved on this issue."...'

Hillary has been caught lying, again
Hillary helped sell out American workers to NAFTA
NAFTA has devastated American manufacturing

You CAN'T TRUST HILLARY
You CAN'T TRUST BILLARY

Obama '08
The first thing we need to do is elect a Congress and Senate that remembers that it is comprised of public servants who are supposed to serve the will of the people not Presidential servants serving a tyrant and corporate interests. Americans have made it very clear that they want an end put to illegal immigration. Congress and the Senate continue to try to find an end around to their constituents' demands on this issue.

The Labor Department reports job losses in the thousands, more states, including Michigan, are reporting record unemployment, we have 20 million illegal workers, and the economy continues to slow. While we are distracted by sex scandals, sermons, and forced to argue over whether white can be changed to black or black can be changed to white, the U.S. House of Representatives responds by considering legislation to import more foreign workers, flooding the labor pool.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz) has introduced the Innovation Employment Act (H.R. 5630), which would DOUBLE the current H-1B visa cap to 130,000 per fiscal year. H.R. 5630 would further raise the cap to 180,000 beginning in 2010 if the 130,000 cap is reached during the 2009 fiscal year. Arizona has made its stance on illegal immigration very clear so, this guy wants to put more of his constituents out of work.

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) has introduced the Strengthening United States Technology and Innovation Act (H.R. 5642), which would TRIPLE the current H-1B visa cap to 195,000 in 2008 and 2009. The technology sector has not fully recovered from the .com bust. This is like calling an amnesty bill the agJOBS Bill.

These workers will serve corporate greed by working for less money and force more Americans into the unemployment lines. The money they earn will end up outside of the U.S. economy. In other words, they will accomplish the same thing that failing to enforce immigration laws has.

Please write, call, fax , or email your Congressional Representatives and let them know that this is not acceptable.
A third Bush term, is that our destiny?  Seems to be since in a predominantly Republican town, I seem unable to use the public computer to post or blog on the democratic website...It even happens when I have something juicy and toasty to say on the NBC website.
In a state of confusion, chaos and circumstance I still find myself unable to go home, searching for a hero...
I also found myself impressed with the latest Obama speech published in yesterday's Sun Times.  He reminded me that my destiny was my own to create.  I would like to believe him, but this rock that is crushing me drowns out my voice.
Hence I remain in a state of limbo, praying that God will hear our pleas and elect a Democrat to office.  Better yet hear my pleas and enter into a powerhouse of a ticket, the dynamic duo.  So that those of us crying ourselves to sleep at night do not have to worry about going to a doctor without insurance to receive ethical medical care.
Consistently I see reports from our soldiers and their families requesting that we as a nation do not let the deaths and injuries of the ones protecting us on the frontlines be in vain.  A victory for our soldiers is a victory for the people of the United States, a victory means that the basis of our Constitution granting life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to all of us under this umbrella are maintained by the government we elect and put into office.  A victory is not defined by the number of deaths that occur, but by the number of lives we preserve with quality and dignity.  It is not walking back to base with some sort of trophy in hand.  Looking back on this recent presidential campaign, I wish that I had spent more time understanding our history, it would have prevented me from making some mistakes that I have made.  If I live to see another day, I hope that I do not make that mistake again.  I do not want to perpetuate the errors made by my ancestors, rather take their knowledge and understanding to improve tomorrow...Like letting it be ok to be in love with someone from wrong side of the tracks.
Obama is right on target about McSame. He is doing exactly what he should be doing. He has the skills, ability, and intellect to overcome all the sabotaging efforts by Clintons, and the right wing media.
Once again, Barack Obama has delivered the message that America needs to hear.

I live in a small town where a lot of young kids are deployed overseas.  They are going to come back changed -- older than I am, practically -- and life here will not be the same.

Less than 2 hours from my home, towns are flooding and people are being evacuated... Where is the National Guard?  That's right.  In Iraq.  And with them has gone their equipment and their resources.  And their families are here, stranded.  It is just not right.

In West Virginia, many kids go to school in trailers while their parents work in low-wage jobs.  How much does a miner make?  It is no wonder that rural families see the military as a way to something better.  It is such a shame that patriotism and sacrifice that is so brave and powerful will have undeniable future consequences.

It is NOT WRONG to be concerned about our towns and our families and to put our needs BEFORE the needs of people overseas.  I have been so proud of the way Barack Obama has consistently spoken on behalf of soldiers deployed in thankless work for too long -- two or three tours, stop-loss... We need to bring them home and take care of THEM for a while.

That's just one person's opinion, but I will say, Barack Obama has my vote.
Um, Obama just switched into General Election mode, and Clinton has been left in the motor-city dust.
I can't wait to see McCain and Obama on a stage together for a Presidential debate. McCain is going to look like a blabbering clown compared to Obama. Obama is right on when he says that a McCain presidency would be like giving Bush a third term. It's insane to think of the $500 billion dollars and 3000+ american lives we've lost over the last 5 years on the Iraq war.
Finally, here is discussion of the speech on the Economy - Thank you!
Yesterday a soldier posted and voiced his belief that what he is doing in Iraq is important.  I didn't get to respond then, so I'm doing it now.  First I want to thank that soldier for the danger and hard work he is doing.  Most people in this country are respectful of our soldiers in the middle east who are doing the job as it's been laid down to them.  I am glad diverse people are posting here.  I know that the soldier and everyone else is speaking their own truth as they understand it.  Some of us on this site are angry, radical, bitter.  Others are calm and logical.  Everyone who writes here demonstrates that he or she still has some ray of hope for our country.  We all want to be heard and to connect.  I support everyone's right to voice their truth.  Somewhere, in the middle of all the clamoring voices, real truth exists, waiting to be found.
We know that electing McCain will give us a third Bush term.  But what many democrats seem to be missing is that Hillary Clinton may also represent a third Bush term, or perhaps the sixth term of Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton.  Just ask Mark Penn.  He knows what it means ... to him ... and to his firm's clients.
I used to like Sen. McCain because he seemed to independently evaluate things and come to sensible conclusions.  The way that I knew he was considering running for president again is by watching him systematically shift his positions on almost everything into alignment with the Bush agenda.  Obama is right.  It will be a continuation of all of the worst things the Bush administration has done.
