McPeak's sharp tongue stabs Bubba

Posted: Saturday, March 22, 2008 10:25 AM by Chuck Todd

From NBC/NJ's Aswini Anburajan
SALEM, Ore. -- General Tony McPeak, a co-chair of the Obama campaign, and a former Chief of Staff of the United States Airforce in the Clinton Administration, President Clinton's comments on patriotic Americans Friday to Joe McCarthy.

"I think it's horrible. I'm really disappointed because I worked for President Clinton, you know?" McPeak said when asked by reporters.

"We know Barack Obama don't we? Do we think Barack Obama loves America? Is this stupid or what?" he demanded of the press surrounding him.

"It sounds more like McCarthy. I grew up, I was going to college when Joe
McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it," he added.

Told that the Clinton campaign had tried to distance itself from Bill Clinton's comment, McPeak implied that the campaign had been down this road before with the former president.

"It's a use of language as a disguised insult.  We've seen this before, this
little clever spin that's put on stuff," he said.

"I have no idea what his intentions are but I'm disappointed in the statement. I think Bill Clinton is, or ought to be, better than that," McPeak concluded.

Who's "Bubba?"

Second question: is this supposed to be journalism?
First!
Obama is just another run of the mill politician trying to lie his way into office.

I praise the Clintons for speaking through their hearts (even if it has insulting undertones)
Bill is up to his old tricks. Does he think the American public is stupid? He complaints about the pastor's distraction from Obama's message. What about all the distractions ie. blue dress, that he introduced into his Presidency. He's shameful.
What else is new? This is basic "ktchen sink" stuff. The clintons and their antics really disgust me!
General McPeak is right on. The Clintons will say anything to get elected. Bill knows what he says and says what he means no matter how sleazy he gets. I held my nose and voted for him twice. I may wind up doing the same with Hillary Clinton but I won't like it.
No, we do not know Obama. That's the point. Thanks to a slick ad sell, we just don't know.
That nagging feeling that he is just too good to be true, has grown larger after the Wright tapes. When will the other shoe drop is the new feeling. Please not in October. Another blame America first loser in November. AARRRRRGH.
Of course the headlines are saying that Obama's aide called Clinton McCarthy when of course we can see what he actually said was:   "It sounds more like McCarthy."  More tabloid fodder. Oh well, we didn't care about Iraq or the economy anyway.
