Obama calls Wright issue a distraction

Posted: Wednesday, March 26, 2008 4:41 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC/NJ’s Aswini Anburajan
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Obama defended his controversial former pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright today, on the heels of statements by Hillary Clinton that she would have left Wright's church had she been in Obama's place.

Obama invited the audience in Greensboro to come to Trinity United Church, the church Wright founded and where he preached for 30 years. Obama called it a "wonderful, welcoming church" that had a pastor who was "trying to teach a lesson connecting scripture to our daily lives and people struggle with illness and family and finances and all the things that people normally talk about."

Turning to Wright, Obama said his "former pastor said some objectionable things when I wasn't in church on those particular days, and I have condemned them out right."

But trying to contextualize Wright's comments, Obama added, "I do have to remind people though this is somebody who was preaching at least three sermons at least a week for 30 years. And so,  [sic] got boiled down; They found five or six of his most offensive statements, boiled that down to a … half-minute sound clip and just played it over and over again."

He said the clips spoke "to some of the racial divisions that we have in this country and tapped into those divisions. I hope people don't get distracted by this because as I said in my speech last week on Tuesday; we can't afford to be distracted."

Yesterday, Clinton had said in an interview that individuals can't choose their relatives, but they can choose their churches. Her comments followed a week of silence on the issue and statements praising Obama's speech.

Asked about religion on the stump, Obama started to raise the issue of Wright's comments on his own last week and appeared critical of the media for replaying them on an "endless loop you YouTube and cable news," he has said, repeating a line from the Philadelphia speech.

Today, he told the majority African-American crowd that Trinity belonged to a majority white denomination, an unusual statement that the senator has never made before.

"United Church of Christ is, by the way, a 99 percent white denomination," Obama said.

Today, speaking to the young, white man who had asked Obama about his faith, he said that focusing on Wright was a distraction.

"You and I, we are both Christians," Obama said to the young man. "And even if you’re not a Christian, we are both Americans. And we cannot solve the problems of America, if every time somebody somewhere says something stupid that everybody gets up in arms."

Wright is not the real issue. The real issue is why Obama is sticking up for this racist preacher man, that seams to be his adopted daddy, and What's really behind the reason for Obama running for president that he also may be covering up from the public and all the American People?
99% white denomination?  Did he forget to say that during his big speech last week?

Christians do not under any circumstances condone hate speeches against other races...against our country....and to sit and listen to this Reverend for 20 years - I believe it probably rubbed off.  Hard to believe that anyone could say those things and not believe them.  It is the failure of Senator Obamas judgment in my opinion, that has me concerned.
Manipulation at its best!  Why don't they play Hillary's snipers fairytale over and over again?  The Billary campaign will stop at nothing to win using diabolical strategies to take the white house, even if it means destroying the democratic process of VOTING!  Rev. Wright's comments, although objectionable, pale in comparison to the kind of monster she truly is.  Personally, I think she should see Rev. Wright about an exorcism!
Obama 09, ENOUGH ALREADY.
So that's what we call hate-mongering these days...a distraction. He can spin it all he likes, but any way you look at it he's unfit to be President. Either he knew what his Mentor was spewing from the Pulpit which makes him unfit, or he didn't know which shows he's unfit because he can't even tell what's going on right around him for two whole decades. How could any one think he would know what was going on in the World.

Wake up America...you're being Bamboozled.
IS FIRST READ SCREENING HILLARY SUPPORTERS BLOGS NOW? WHY WON'T YOU POST MY MESSAGE?    OBAMA SAYS QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS CHURCH AND PASTOR WRIGHT ARE A "DISTRACTION"!!                                         A DISTRACTION??? " GOD DAM AMERICA" IS A DISTRACTION??  MAYBE TO OBAMA IT IS A DISTRACTION BUT TO PATRIOTIC AMERICANS IT IS MUCH MORE THAN A DISTRACTION.  THOSE ARE FIGHTIN' WORDS OBAMA!!  ACCUSING THE UNITED STATES OF PURPOSELY INVENTING AIDS TO KILL OFF AFRICAN-AMERICANS A DISTRACTION??  MORE FIGHTIN' WORDS OBAMA!  SAYING THE U.S.A. IS NOTHING MORE THAN THE U.S.KKK OF A. IS A DISTRACTION???  SAYING THE U.S. GOVERNMENT IMPORTS DRUGS TO GIVE TO BLACKS JUST SO WE CAN LOCK THEM UP, A DISTRACTION???  OBAMA, YOU ARE BECOMING A DISTRACTION!  A DISTRACTION FOR THE AMERICAN VOTERS WHO WILL BE ELECTING THEIR NEW PRESIDENT AND OBAMA, IT WON'T BE YOU!!!!
"....he sat there for twenty years listening to this hate speech......".  I've heard that statement or some version of it on all your prime-time shows by different guests.  Do all your anchors actually think that those short, awful clips represent thiry years of sermons?  Not one of them asked that all important follow-up question!  Those supporting Obama asked that question theoretically, but no ANCHOR asked guest panelists that direct question.  I would have been curious to hear their follow-up answers.  Why didn't anyone push any harder?

This is only the opening round.  Obama's racism will perk to the surface as November draws closer.  Anyone who keeps the woman who raised him a virtual prisoner and is ashamed of her color does not deserve to be President of a Dung Heap - Why doesn't the media demand he appear with her on stage?  Answer: because then the reverse racism in the media would show for all to see.

If a white candidate were to have been raised and put through private school by a working class black maternal grandmother, and that candidate were to shun his grandmother and keep her from standing proudly with him on stage in his moment in the sun... the media would be all over that like flies on stink.

Oddly enough, Obama's racism is given a free pass.
Congress nor Pres. Bush were members of Rev Wright's church, look at the mess their decisions have gotten America--NAFTA, IRAQ, IMMIGRATION, etc. Usually, a bill we thought was nill can resurface in another. Congress has approved Homeland Security plans to spend 468 mil. in fee money over three years on the backlog of application to hire 1,000 workers, overtime and train workers. "Summer Naturalization Could Lead to Fall Votes" reveals "some immigrants who sought U.S. citizenship amid an application backlog...become American citizens ahead of this year's presidential election The Bush administration top immigration official has revealed. Dir. Emilio Gonzalez has said those who applied in June should be citizens by end of Sept. In all the Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) has received 7.7 million applications in fiscal year '07. It has taken steps to move along the "backlog". A 650% increase from '06. (read the article)The Dir of Natl. Assoc. of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials wants states with high Latino populations to delay voter registration deadlines for its newest citizens. The "backlog" is being expedited under Title 8, "Backlog Reduction", Title 8 (CFR), Dept. of Homeland Security (Immigration and Naturalization).  Obama reminds me of the political stance Christ took. He worked for political, social and economical change.  He too inspired the masses who were being misused by those in power. Understand, our problem is not about racisim, instead it's about capitalism.  We know their policies are destroying the "middle class" and the "working poor" all races included. Also recruited for citizenship are visas for individuals with advanced degrees, etc. The "race card" is a political tactic.  Looking at Obama background, all he has done stands true to what he campaigns on. He has empathy and his work proves he is a Server of Humanity.  How can the man be racist, was raised in Kansas by his "white grandparents". He only saw his father once after leaving him at two years old. I read the wealthy don't agree there is a need for "Change". They have homes, insurance, can educate their children, etc. McCain is a continuation of George w. Bush's administration. Troops remaining in Iraq, mean spending more time away from family, including children and spouses. That's sad. May God forbide but more lives maybe lost or handicapped.  The youth may be drafted. This war has depleted the national economy.  We know who the group is getting more wealthy off this war. Avarice, vampires sucking up the taxpayer's hard earned money, very life of the nation. Many can't even retire nor have health insurance. I can't get out my mind Hiliary and John McCain are a part of this mess. Today, I read an article that the wealthy did not see a need for "Change". Hiliary gets the states where a large number of the wealthy voters are not being adversely affected by the economy. Only Avarice would influence reasoning causing a lack of empathizing for the middle class and the working poor lacking the understanding there is a necessity for "Change"? The Bible says to name the sin; Greed/Avarice a deadly sin.  Hiliary and McCain has been their choices of people with this mindset.
Ummm... actually, he HAS made the comment that the United Church of Christ has a 99% white denomination before. I am not trying to be confrontational, but this is a misstatement.
The Clintons will continue to use quip and dagger initiatives and responses to avoid issues.  They fully understand the short attention span of most of the voting public and know few will take the time to think things through.

Obama needs to have a small window of time set aside each day to respond to the silliness of the day and hope enough people will tire of Clinton's constant revising of "facts" to understand the nation's need for thoughtful the thoughtful leadership he offers.
“He would not have been my [husband],” Clinton told reporters in Greensburg, Pa. “You know, we don’t have a choice when it comes to our [blood] relatives. We have a choice when it comes to our [spouses] and the[infidelity] … Everyone will have to decide these matters for themselves. They are obviously very personal matters … I think the choice would be clear for me.”
I thought that words mattered.  Now, he says we can't solve problems when someone says something stupid?
Those words weren't stupid.  They were hateful and just plain wrong.  He is trying to get away from this topic that he says we should talk about...RACE
Amen, Senator Obama, Amen.  Let's get back to your issues.  Although Senator Clinton wants you vetted, as she says, we can truthfully move on.  Rev. Wright is not running for president and, personally, I'm not that interested in your pastor.  I'd like to meet him, to see for myself if he is really so heinous.  I don't believe he is, but I would like to judge for myself instead of making a decision from what the media is portraying.
No, Hillary, you can't choose your relatives and you can choose your church.  You can also choose your husband.  And a man who has such an infidelity and sexual harassment problems is certainly not who I would choose for a husband.
If it was the Clintons at a church and they went there for 20 years and the rev. hated blacks and the Clintons made friends with this rev. and this rev. said the things about this country and races you know everyone would be screaming to ban them make them meet with all the black leaders talk with rev. J. Jackson & Al Sharpton plus those 2 would be on all the networks screaming no peace until Mrs. Clinton dropped out of the race and say she and her family were wrong. This Obama can do no wrong look at his church web site. Why did the church change a lot of it mission statement and words if there was no wrong. Why did obama say in 20 yaers he never heard it then next day it is wwweelll maybe 1 time in church. Sorry not going to buy it. Hitler like to blame the Jews also for the state his country was in. Read rev. wrights hate and obama's preacher is nothing more than a racist. I am voting for McCain before i vote obama switching party because dems are being idiots in this matter.
United Church of Christ is, by the way, a 99 percent BLACK denomination," CLINTON said. Honestly MSNBC if Hillary or Bill Clinton said this (flipping white with black and Obama with Clinton) you guys would so be all over this like flies on manure. As for the distraction portion of this response, of course it was a distraction...so the media wouldn't pick up on how Rezko actually gave 250,000 in campaign donations instead of the 150,000 Obama originally reported. It was a distraction when they initially attempted to make it seem as if only his passport file was illegally accessed. On another note, what is it with news tv anchors, hosts, pundits, correspondents...the whole media group and this reference in some iteration of Obama as , " the nice guy." Every time I hear someone in the news say that, I throw up in my mouth. Do you all have a personal relationship with Obama?  Everyone is nice when they NEED and WANT to be. Do you all not know about Little Red Riding Hood and her grandma a.k.a. the wolf?
Today, he told the majority African-American crowd that Trinity belonged to a majority white denomination, an unusual statement that the senator has never made before.

"United Church of Christ is, by the way, a 99 percent white denomination," Obama said.

Maybe he never felt he had to bring that point up.  The United Church of Christ has well over 1 Million members, and a White President.  Did you not know that??

Chicago Sun-Times journalist Monroe Anderson tackled that subject in a piece about TUCC back in March 2007:
"If a white presidential candidate's church had a similar statement and "you substitute the word white for black, there would be an outrage in this country," [Sean] Hannity preached. "There would be cries of racism in this country."

True and Catch-22. If a white church plainly and proudly pronounced its whiteness, Hannity, [Tucker] Carlson and company would be right. But if it was the Holy Trinity Polish Church on Chicago's North Side, proclaiming its Polishness, who'd care? This is how African Americans find ourselves in a trick bag. We're defined racially even when we're acting like any other of this nation's ethnic groups. Issues knee-jerkily become black and white when in reality they may be African American and Irish American. Or Serbian American and African American."

Check out Obama`s church web site, www.tucc.org/home,  and the church`s magazine web site,  www.trumpetmag.com/, and then you can make a decision on whether you think this church is 99% white, what you voters think about this Wright and Trinity United Church controversity, where Obama has been going to church for the last 20 years.  This is in a article in the church web site, explaining the church:

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

You use to be able to buy the Wright sermons on the church website, although I did not see them there tonight.  I think a person should be able to get a idea after reading thru both the church and their magazine web pages, what this church he attends is all about and get a idea the kind of person Barack Obama is.

We are being told by Obama that we should no longer talk about this subject, but I think there is still people that want to know more, before making a decision on whether they should vote for him.  What does he not want us to know, that he is telling us people to quit digging about him, that he has to hide???

COVERAGE

by Rhoda McKinney-Jones

It’s not often that one gets to interview an icon. Someone called

by a singular moniker and everyone knows of whom you speak—

a person who can walk into a room and cause pause because of

his physical presence and historical significance. That’s exactly what I

was privileged to do a few days ago from my humble kitchen perch.

I interviewed the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan by phone on

everything I could think to ask in 15 fleeting minutes.

The Minister’s voice was strong, smooth and steadfast, giving

no hint of the health challenges that have plagued him the last few

years. He talked about the future of the Nation of Islam, his hope

for the faith, his pride in African American people, his love of music

and the state of Black America. Then of course, when prodded, he

talked of his legacy. I asked questions in quick succession and he

willingly responded, eloquently quoting biblical scripture, speaking

in parables and peppering his answers with references to the Quran,

Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Honorable Elijah

Muhammad. He spoke and I couldn’t help but listen and learn.

“When Minister Farrakhan speaks, Black America listens,” says

the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, likening the Minister’s influence to

the E. F. Hutton commercials of old. “Everybody may not agree with

him, but they listen…His depth on analysis when it comes to the

racial ills of this nation is astounding and eye opening. He brings a

perspective that is helpful and honest.

“Minister Farrakhan will be remembered as one of the 20th and

21st century giants of the African American religious experience,”

continues Wright. “His integrity and honesty have secured him a

place in history as one of the nation’s most powerful critics. His love

for Africa and African American people has made him an unforgettable

force, a catalyst for change and a religious leader who is sincere

about his faith and his purpose.”

The Louis Farrakhan story is one most of us already know, but

that does not diminish its import or impact. Born Louis Eugene

Walcott, 73-years ago in the Bronx and raised in Roxbury, MA, the

former Calypso singer and classically trained violinist, knew there

was a greater calling on his life. That calling began with his joining

the Nation in 1955 and changing his name to Louis X. Since that

time, the rest, one could say, is history.

The Minister helped breathe new life into the Nation after the

death of Elijah Muhammad, attracting thousands upon thousands

of young, eager, African American men who found a home in the

faith, pride in themselves and a leader in the Minister. From the

streets of Chicago’s South Side to the Million Man March and to the

greater Islamic world, the Minister has and is making a difference.

But that road has not been an easy one, as his friend Father Michael

L. Pfleger of St. Sabina Church in Chicago explains.

“Minister Farrakhan is probably one of the most misunderstood

and mis-defined leaders of our day,” says Pfleger. “When you don’t

want to deal with someone’s truth, you try to destroy their character

or redefine them…That’s what the media has sought to do with

Minister Farrakhan. His truth causes America to face its racism and

its hypocrisy.”

“Minister Farrakhan has been a personal friend for more than

20 years,” continues Pfleger. “His leadership has evolved, and I

believe the coming days will see him as a unifying force, calling real

Christians, real Jews and real Muslims to come together on principles

of truth and justice… Contrary to those who want to make him

anti-white and anti-Semitic, I believe Minister Farrakhan is presently

building the umbrella for people of conscience to come together no

matter the race or creed. I am honored to call him my brother.”

Because of the Minister’s influence in the African American

community, Trumpet Newsmagazine honors him this winter at its

Sounds of the Shore gala with an Empowerment Award. It seemed

a fitting tribute for a storied life well lived. And as our brief interview

drew to a close and he thanked me for taking the time to talk to

him, I could not help but think, the Minister, the man with
Obama is a tremendouslly inspiring, wise, intelligent, and gifted leader, and I feel fortunate to have him as my prospective president. I haven't felt this way since 1960 when John Kennedy was running for president.
Who does Barrack Obama think that he is?Anyway he should not answer the question because we all know that he is a coward and a racist who is not fit to be President of this country and no wright thinking American will vote for that nut.He is finished no matter what Olbermann and Co thinks.

As a white male in America, I am surprised that most white Americans are unaware of the Black experience and Black Churches. The Rev White isn’t unusual. If we mature white males have been treated as the mature black Americans I think we would react the same or perhaps worse. I think it’s time we realize that it is a human response. I think it’s time to give the “Rev a rest”. I am equally surprised to learn that younger Black males are not as knowledgeable about their ancestor’s experience. This would be a good future learning issue for all Americans.
B.O. will say anything to minimize the fact that he sat in that racist church for 20 years and listened to the racist rant of his pastor. The foolish white people that support this man are stupid. He listened and believed the hate filled rants against white America. His staff to get him elected is majority white, but after he is elected he will not need them anymore and fill all top posts with blacks. They will trash the White House and this country. It will be payback time. He is fooling all of the whites that believe his lies.
Rev. Wright is not merely a distraction nor have most people just seen 30-second sound bites.  There is much more material available on YouTube.  What is a problem for the Senator is his comment about his grandmother, "a typical white person", and his inconsistency (Wright can make hateful speeches, Don Imus had to be fired).  Please keep talking about it and let Rev. Wright speak for himself.  I was sorry to hear he canceled his recent visits to churches in Fl and Tx.  Was he pressured by the campaign?
Obama wants us to view the Jeremiah Wright affair as a distraction. It is not! It is an issue that goes to the heart of who Obama really is. I have read both of his books, listened to his speeches, and read what Michelle Obama has said. And it is my opinion that Jeremiah Wright has had tremendous influence on their thinking. Obama was there when he made some of his hateful remarks, and he cannot deny it. He writes about one sermon in 1988 where Wright says "white greed in a world of need". So he was aware of Wright's racist remarks early on. We need to focus more on Obama and his relationship to his pastor, or, "mentor" as he calls him
Something stupid?  Since when is racism and hate speech considered "something stupid."  Does the fact that the denomination is mostly white make it right for one church to say something racist about whites?  I don't think it is wise to minimize racism at any time in any place against anybody.
many people say they are offended or just upset at what Rev. Wright said in his sermon. One thing most of you missed is he said it's in the Bible. Have anyone check to see what Scriptures he was using? If what a preacher is saying line up with the Word of God it will always upset most people. When Jesus was on earth many people were upset with what He said because the truth is a hard pill to swallow. As a Nation we cannot follow the devil and expect God to continue to bless us. It don't work that way with the Lord. The Jews were God's own people, but because of there desire to follow the devil they wasn't blessed but damned. If Rev. Wright is truly preaching the Word of God and any one that hear it and haven't truly given your heart to Jesus, you cannot and will not understand what he's saying. Not only you can't understand him, but any other true person of God.
Obama and Wright Pastor Disaster will not go away any time soon. Why should it? Obama has a 20-year relationship with Reverend Wright; to suggest that Wright's comments were isolated would be to flat out lie. However, instead of taking on the difficult situation head on which would be "Presidential", Obama and his wife fled to the Virgin Islands away from the fire storm. Or so they thought. This is hardly the acts of an un-typical politician and a candidate of change.

If any one thinks the Reverend Wright story is going away any time soon … think again. Reverend Wright was supposed to speak in Florida at the Bible-Based Fellowship Church of Temple Terrace have been canceled. Canceled for security? More like canceled as Barack Obama was afraid what Wright's words would further due to his election hopes.

To make matters even more interesting for Barack Obama is to take a look at his tax returns that he released. What words outraged Americans … "God Damn America". I guess the Obamas have prospered in that place that the Reverend Wright has such an issue with.

If Obama's hate-filled, racially-charged and ant-American pastor is only a distraction, then what is Obama's wife? Admittedly, his whole life revolves around both of them. THEY are what matters to him.
So how do you elect this guy president? Are Americans so stupid to think Obama isn't hiding something? I call it the Obama Trauma. When it happens, you'll know it?
Good for Him. Right back at you Billary.
There is a statement here that is not correct.  I previously heard Obama say that his church was a majority white denomination.  I don't remember exactly where I heard it -- maybe when he appeared on Larry King last week.  I listen to lots the "talking head" shows, especially on MSNBC, CNN & the Sunday talk shows.
Chicago radio aired the entire sermon yesterday afternoon.  You would be very upset to learn that we have been played.  Rev. Wright is restating what took place on the Hannity show (Fox News)the day prior.  He states in the sermon that they aren't his words but the words of an ambassador who was on the show.

The incomplete version/half version of this tape has caused a lot of damage that the media needs to repair.
yes mr. obama is right ,religion and race cannot solve the problem .but if america rally with obama then trust the whole world would be happy.let hilary deal with the lewinsky controversy and stop bothering mr. obama.as we may know thats just political psychology she is using on mr.obama
I don't believe that a person should be judged by what his pastor says.  Shoot, I don't believe a lot of things my pastor says.

We know one thing that Mr. Obama has never lied or embellished his foreign policy experience.  This sin is greater than "guilt by association".
I am a first generation Immigrant indian.I was in a small town and I have been discriminated and my children went thro' hell in the school by white peers. There were some  who supported them. Who can deny that racicism does not exist.
Whether you agree with Rev. Wright's statements or not, and some people just wont agree, to focus on this minister is a distraction especially if our issues are the same no matter what color we are.  Better jobs, better education, an end to the war, a slumping economy, etc., etc., etc.,.  These are the things that we should be focused on because that's where the problems lie.
Wait-Hillary takes heat for days for ans. a direct question and Obama can bring it up and keep it going. His staff sends out memos how bad Hillary is to ignite the Wright flame?I think there should be some scrutiny on part of someone who is supposed to be so in th eknow about all things. How come not a word is mentioned when Obama has a bad week has to go on vacation for a week >Can you just imagine if Hillary did that lordy. Besides where is Wright? Obama stashed him so he wouldnt mess it up for Obama like he keeps his wife muzzled.
why would Obama tell aaaaan African American crowd that Church of Christ is white church unless to keep race thing going. How devious is that. His Trinity United(there is that united again ) church of christ is certainly a black racist church for what ever reason is not right.
Mr. Obama should go to what ever church he wants to go to.

Mrs. Clinton should not have to comment on something that only affect Mr. Obama.

The news media should quite making the canidates comment on such nonsence and stick to the real deal. It does distract from the issures, and it affects the views of people who are not independent thinkers.
""United Church of Christ is, by the way, a 99 percent white denomination," Obama said."
Are you guys going to challenge that statement, as it doesn't fit with the videos of his church?
Here is the probelm that Obama and the media seem to get lost on. For me and many others it has not been and never was about race. It is the things he said that were so un-American that offended us. Being from NY and having family that worked in NY on 9/11 it offended me and many others who hear a man of god say we brought it upon our selves. I went the whole day, due to non working cell towers, not knowing how close my father was to the towers. I had teachers who lost friends and former classmates in the towers. How can I not take it personal that some preacher said they deserved it. I am sorry but come November after the Republicans remind NY voters that according to Obama's mentor, and guiding light in life that they brought 9/11 on themselves I dont not see them voting for Obama. I know that he never said those words but when you claim a man to be your mento and guide in life both spiritually and in general you have to believe in him. So I cannot and support him and I know many in NY will not support him now.
So Mr. Obama see this as nothing more than a distraction...Glad to see that listening to someone who is an obvious racist is just a distraction.  All of the "typical white women" like Hillary must just be a distraction too.  When will all of you Obamacrats wake up and realize the he is all talk and no substance.  He ducks issues, why else vote "present" instead of growing a spine and voting either Yes or No??? This man talks a good talk and just like that used car salesman, can get you to buy anything.  Its after you bought that you find out that you have been taken.  Fortunately, its not too late to change your minds.  For the states that still have primaries left, do the entire nation a favor and tell Obama that he can't pedal his "snake oil" here anymore.  We see thru his lies and half truths.  Give the Democrats REAL HOPE for Novemeber and vote for Hillary.  Because if Obama wins, we will all lose come November.  I for one, will never vote for Obama and would rather vote for McCain.  Atleast he has the guts, right or wrong, to state his beliefs.
you guys are still taking about this, people are losing there jobs, homes, and loved ones in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"You and I, we are both Christians," Obama said to the young man. "And even if you’re not a Christian, we are both Americans. And we cannot solve the problems of America, if every time somebody somewhere says something stupid that everybody gets up in arms."

How true. Unfortunatley there are still many people out there that are very narrow minded to the point of reflecting and exposing their inner predjudices while remaining blind to the damage they are doing to the greater cause of bringing people with differences together. All one has to do is read some of patty, sd ca 's comments on these threads and you know of what I speak.

All of us have faults, some worse then others. And if all we do is continually harp on the faults of others then working out soultions to our differences and problems will never occur. Those who fail to recognize this and who work against this truth with hateful comments or beliefs that they continually make on these threads are in fact the disease that keeps the greater issues and problems between people from healing.

And even if someone does not support Obama. Even if he were not a candidate but another of a different color was running who also preached unity, the fact is that those who speak in hateful terms in this regard are refusing to join with anyone regardless of who they are in trying to make this a better and more tolerant world and society. You have a tough road to travel Obama but hang in there.
If a priest or pastor is passionate; loves his congregation and feels that his people are being ignored or marginalized by their government isn't only natural for him to be angered?  I was turned off by Rev. Wrights comments.  I don't know much about him but wonder why those people that will accept Hillary saying she misspoke and is only human will not accept the idea that a passionate preacher can't be angry for his flock...he's only human.
