NBC-WSJ poll: New Clinton lows

From NBC's Chuck Todd
As expected, one of the two major Democratic candidates saw a downturn in the latest NBC/WSJ poll, but it's not the candidate that you think. Hillary Clinton is sporting the lowest personal ratings of the campaign. Moreover, her 37 percent positive rating is the lowest the NBC/WSJ poll has recorded since March 2001, two months after she was elected to the U.S. Senate from New York.

The poll was conducted Monday and Tuesday this week by Hart-McInturff and surveyed 700 registered voters, which gives the poll a margin of error of +/- 3.7 percent. In addition, we oversampled African-Americans in order to get a more reliable cross-tab on many of the questions we asked in this poll regarding Sen. Barack Obama's speech on race and overall response to last week's Rev. Jeremiah Wright dustup. (Watch Tim Russert's analysis of the poll results.)

On that issue specifically, 32 percent of voters overall said Obama "sufficiently addressed the issue," while 26 percent of folks believe he needs to address the Wright controversy further; 31 percent did not see the speech or had no opinion.

Interestingly, of those voters who said they saw the speech, 47 percent said Obama sufficiently addressed the Wright issue while 37 percent said he needs to address it further. Among whites, 45 percent were satisfied with Obama's explanation, 38 percent were not. Among blacks, 67 percent said the speech was sufficient, while 25 percent want him to address it further.

Overall, 55 percent of voters told us that they were "disturbed" by the videos of Wright that circulated so widely on cable TV and the Internet.

As for the damage this controversy did or didn't do to Obama, it's a mixed bag. Yes, Obama saw some of his numbers go down slightly among certain voting groups, most notably Republicans. But he's still much more competitive with independent voters when matched up against John McCain than Hillary Clinton is. And he still sports a net-positive personal rating of 49-32, which is down only slightly from two weeks ago, when it was 51-28. Again, the biggest shift in those negative numbers were among Republicans.

On one of the most critical questions we've been tracking for a few months, Obama showed resilience. When asked if the three presidential candidates could be successful in uniting the country if they were elected president, 60 percent of all voters believed Obama could be successful at doing this, 58 percent of all voters said McCain could unite the country while only 46 percent of voters said the same about Clinton. All three candidates saw dips on this issue, by the way. In January, 67 percent thought Obama could unite the country; 68 percent thought McCain could do it; and 55 percent said Clinton would be able to pull it off.

The fact that all three dropped equally in the last three months is a sign that the campaign is becoming more ideological and partisan.

In the head-to-head matchups, there weren't huge shifts in the numbers, with Obama and Clinton dead even at 45 percent in the national Democratic primary matchup (a slight increase for Obama from early March). In the general-election matchups, Obama led McCain by 2 points, and McCain led Clinton by 2 points; all margin of error results and nothing to get too excited over.

One thing about these head-to-head matchups: Our pollsters found that for the second poll in a row, more than 20 percent of Clinton and Obama supporters say they would support McCain when he's matched up against the other Democrat. There is clearly some hardening of feelings among some of the most core supporters of both Democrats, though it may be Obama voters, who are more bitter in the long run.

Why? Because among Obama voters, Clinton has a net-negative personal rating (35-43) while Clinton voters have a net-positive view of Obama (50-29). Taken together, this appears to be evidence that Obama, intially, should have the easier time uniting the party than Clinton.

Considering the doom-and-gloom some predicted for Obama with regard to the Wright controversy, the overall tenor of the electorate appears to still be favorable for him. He's mortal, but he's survived ... for now. It's not clear whether he'd be this resilient if another controversy exploded as big as Wright, but it appears that voters are giving him the benefit of doubt. There's lots of evidence inside these numbers that voters still would like to know more about Obama, and that is both an opportunity and a potential obstacle.

Why is everyone so surprised?  I find her terribly unauthentic, and quite frankly, cannot comprehend how women continue to support her.  She is not a role model for strong and independent women, otherwise she would have sent her philandering husband packing.  She stuck by him for one and only reason: to run for the presidency one day.  That is way, deep down, people find her so offensive.
The "Silent Majority". When are we, as taxpayers, going to wake up and smell the coffee? We have crooks, self-serving career politicians, spineless egotists who put their careers before the best interest of our country. Unlike the presidency, our representatives can wallow in the confines of our nation's capital. They pass laws they themselves don't have to live by. They have retirement and health care till the day they die and don't have to live by the rediculous laws they pass while we (the people) have to swallow an overdose of bitter pills.
I'm 55 and in my college-hippie days spent time in a D.C. jail during the May Day demonstrations in 1971. But, after starting a family and having to immerse myself into the day-to-day realities of making a living of life....I soon left "Strawberry Fields Forever." We hear of the "Million Man March." Why don't we citizens who are so fed up with taxes, border insecurities, corruption in government and Wall Street, our ridiculously unfair trade practices with foreign countries that perpetuate the sinking dollar and make us debtors to even 3rd world countries... why don't we all...say 25-30,000,000 of us...all take a week off from work and make a pilgimage to Washington D.C.? No rock concerts, no need to clutter the place up with poster board slogans. Just stand shoulder-to-shoulder in front of the House, Senate, White House...in unified silence. No civil disobedience just a sea of humanity converging on these self-serving politicians who believe they are above accountability. These do-nothing baffoons would be held hostage in their own Bastille. They wouldn't even be able to escape "out the back door" in their cushy limos. We just clog D.C. and shut the dang government down for awhile. When are we going to say ENOUGH, and sacrifice a bit of our time to make a statement to these morons who call themselves "representatives?"
Also, how dare those big-buck Clinton supporters trying to threaten House Speaker Pelosi and steal the nomination.  Just goes to show you how people with "money" hold Americans hostage if things don't go their way.  They are WAAY out of line here.  Again, Clinton is ALWAYS in the pockets of lobbyists and/or others who want to silence the people and control this nation.
why should we trust two persons(Bill and Hillary) who were unable to protect a helpless animal(Buddy) to watch out for our country-they are too self absorbed and self important to solve this country's problems
I finally heard the ENTIRE speech given by Rev. Wright and just as I suspected, the "sound bites" that have been floating around the internet and played and replayed on the news were taken out of context.  You need to hear the entire speech in order to make an informed decision.  There was a message in that sermon that EVERYONE should hear.  I happen to agree with quite a few of the things that Rev. Wright said during that sermon, one of which--and he was quoting someone else when he said that America's chickens have come home to roost--is the fact that America has ALWAYS done dirt on foreign soil in order to have the almighty buck go the way they want it.  WE created Osama Bin Laden when we helped him and his rebels fight in Afghanastan against the Russians during the cold war, or did we forget that?  Would it also surprise people to know that those caves we "lost him in" when we invaded Afghanastan "looking" for him, we helped HIM and his rebels DIG those freaking caves.  So you mean to tell me we can't find him in caves our troops helped him dig????  WTF???  So yeah, when you do dirt, you will eventually get dirty.

My opinion of Barrack H. Obama has NOT changed one iota since this information came out about Rev. Wright.

You have got to be kidding me, this will hurt Obama more then people think.  How can someone go to that church for that long and not know what views are held by his pastor.  The apple doesn't fall far from the tree...
Read all of this before you judge it please.

The negatives on Obama involve patriotism and it just isn't a big issue to his base, blacks will understandably support him no matter what and a generation of young people who have been raised without a structured dogma of patriotism (no pledge of alligence in their schools, etc)don't see it as all that important.

Thus the negatives caused by Obama's radical pastor will not appear until the general electon when the stark difference between the appearance of questionable patriotism (rightly or wrongly) of Obama is compared to the extreme patriotism of McCain in third party ads.

The same is true of Obama appearing to be from the extreme far left.  No big deal now, but a biggie in the general election.  Presidents are always from a spot closer to center...extreme left or right never get the big chair.

Obama will suffer greatly under those conditions, the big blocks of the black and the young voters will just not be enough to win.

Sadly, we will see the republicans win if things don't change.

why should we trust two persons(Bill and Hillary) who were unable to protect a helpless animal(Buddy) to watch out for our country-they are too self absorbed and self important to solve this country's problems
If Hillary Clinton did not have the long history of polarizing people, which I do not believe is entirely her fault, I would vote for her.  But the fact is that the mere mention of her name causes so many people I know to lose their good sense to raw negative emotion.  I cannot deliberately vote for another several years of the type of polarization the nation experienced when Bill was president, and that is what I fear with a Hillary presidency.  Perhaps the same thing would happen if Barack or McCain were elected, but I am certain it would if Hillary were the next president.
Polls are meaningless. A great many voters will mouth the politically correct phrases -- but VOTE AGAINST OBAMA in November. Obama has shown himself a Closet Racist -- and people do have long memories -- in spite of what newscasters and pollsters would have us believe.

Obama CAN'T win this election, nor will he win in 2012, 2016 or even 2020. That Wright fiasco can properly be compared to a White presidential candidate hobnobbing with the local Klan's chief Wizzard and attending monthly Klan Meetings.

Also a lot of Americans will recall those many politicians, public figures -- hounded out of office, forced to resign or lose their jobs -- because of a perceived slight, insult or joke as offensive to Blacks. In other words, PAYBACK TIME! Between these various but very real factors, Obama will not win! His reputation as both a Liar and Closet Racist having been ensured.

As to Lying Hillary -- Hillary, like hubby Bill, is a pathological liar who would force her daughter to whore for a Black inner-city pimp if it would gain the White House for Hillary. With her desperate lying trying to regain public approval -- she simply comes off as the typical frustrated bitch she is.
When did we replace the word Lie with Misspoken.  Well get this one parents your child did not lie they misspoken.  How can we trust a president who constantly mis-speaks like her husband the former president and what about the hearings held while they Hillery and Bill ran our country as Hillery claims she did.  Funny I don't remember voting for her back then. I don't think she can be a good example for our young children.  What the heck Mom I didn't lie, I just mis-spoke.
It would be better for Hillary if she speak to the issues that affect the American people. By Atacking Barack and wanting to change the rules "in the middle of the stream", to get the nomination, tells me that she is determine to win at all cost. It appears that she wants to be president to boast her own ego. We need a president who cares about our wellbeing. I am not seeing that in Hillary's behavior.
I think that comments like patty's are what super delegates are worried about. If republican plants or Clinton loyalists pick up the banner of

"I don't want a racist, Anti-American for President."

then subsequently it damages the tent both candidates are under, the DNC. Bill asking to "mix it up" only deepens that divide. Patty and those like you I'd ask do you really think the last 8 yrs have been good for this country? If you say no then why continue the downward spiral out of spite? Why do you think Scarborough, Buchanan ENCOURAGE Clinton to remain in the race and continue their tactics. It helps them!
Hillary Clinton new Tactic

Obama is carrying the black vote which is a well publicized fact. Most democrats believe if he is not the nominee that vote will be lost.
This could be a big case for the Super Delicates when choosing a nominee.

Hillary Clinton needs B. Obama more than he needs her and that is why she created the possibility a Dream Team which was promoted by CNN.

Hillary Clinton  new strategy is to say put me on your ticket or my supporters will not vote for you Obama.

CNN Media is falling for her new tactic.
I don't know who y'all are using for your pollsters but you have the only polls that show these ratings. A host of others including Rasmussen shows that the gap in a national election is McCain 51% to Obama 41%. Of course, it was your pollster who had a decidely large lead for Obama going into New Hampshire
Obama pretty well maintained his ratings because he  confronted the Rev. Wright issue head-on. He did so with a  well received speech and has not ducked questions about this issue. He condemned Wright's comments but would not throw the man under the bus for making some terrible comments and mistakes. People appreciated that. The fact that someone can be constructively criticized yet also noted and forgiven for their good works. "That is how you bring people together"!! If a person has good in them along with some bad you don't ostracize them. You stick with them and show them the light and hope they can grow. If not then they will do themselves in. Obama knows this and has this knoeldge and sensitivity that you must give people the opportunity to change their ways or to make things better then what they were. Imagine if any voter or blogger here had never been forgiven and/or given another opportunity to redeem themselves. It would be a sad world indeed.

Hillary on the other hand continues to embellish her background. She won't meet controversy head-on but rather tries to skirt around those negative issues that she is confronted with. Her camp attacked a well liked person in Bill Richardson when Carvelle called him a Judas, and once again Bill is hurting her campiagn more so then helping it. Obama makes errors, he is human, but he always seems to come back with honesty and always meets the challenges head-on without skirting the issues or taking responsibility for miscues. Hillary on the other hand attempts to avoid her errors or to sidestep them or to excuse them with comments that make the situation worse. There are many articles and comments out there that show Hillary has a problem (past and present) with  sharing the truth or speaking directly and openly about many issues and her negatives are reflecting this.

Hillary is her own worst enemy. Proof of this has been the last several days where Obama remains on the sidelines in the Virgin Islands leaving Hillary and her camp all to their own on the campaign trail. Yet even in his absence Hillary could not take advantage. She continued to attack Obama with a prepared coment about Rev. Wright, and failed to be honest on a the stupid but showing issue of Bosnia. And Bill kept putting his foot in his mouth.

No wonder her negatives have gone up and her positives down.
The double standard being applied to Obama is deafening in this election.  I understand that Wrights comments were awful, but they were not Obama's comments.  In Hillary's case, she has pushed her experience as the mainstay of her campaign and the main reason she should win out over Obama.  She has also denegrated him for "plagerizing" his "just words" speech. She has rode him into the ground on the Rev Wright issue.  Yet in her camp, she has out and out lied about her experience in Bosnia and Ireland, repeatedly, and calls it just a mistake.  One time, shame on you , two times (or more in her case), shame on the rest of us.  If she is going to hold Obama to such a high standard about the honesty of his words....well, she can't just yell "misspoke" when she repeatedly chooses to misspeak over and over again.  Then there is the Geraldine Ferraro comparison.  Hillary's comments were simply that she didn't agree with Ferraro's statements.  She didn't disown her or disassociate with her, yet that is what she calls Obama to do in the case of his Pastor.  On top of that, at least we have not heard Wright on every news channel he could get on spewing new comments about how he didn't regret any of what he said or claiming victim himself, which is what Ferraro did.

Get over it Clintons, and yes, they are both running.  This election is just a backwards way for Bill to get back in the White House.  I heard a Hillary supporter on MSNBC get all upset when someone made a comment about the "Clinton's" running, he said "the Clinton's are not running, Hillary is!"  Then the next day on MSNBC there is a spot of Bill campaining, he says in regards to dropping out of the race "many people have come up to me and said Bill, don't quit, I tell them we won't, unless you haven't noticed we don't have much quit in our family."  Sounds like a Obama is running against both of them to me, right out of Bill's mouth.  But, oh yeah, I forgot, it's okay to say if the Clinton's say it...just not the rest of the world.  Like I said, double standard, period.
Ill try again since you won't carry my analysis of your fake poll of 700 people loaded with African americans....Perhaps you should include those statistics. How many of each person in your demographics. Then we can see how you are creating the news as opposed to reporting the news.
It's a good thing Hillary's got Bill because I don't think she could get a date anymore.
I just want to say that no matter who becomes the democratic choice, we, as democrats should back that person no matter what. In the end, my fellow democrats, would you rather see a democrat in office or a repub when the time comes? Think about it. We all have a right to vote for the person we want, but in the end when there is only ONE choice, we have to let go of our bitterness and/or pride at least in the sense of doing the greater good. The next 4 years depends on all of us making some difficult decissions.

Obama '08
Hillary Clinton is just a very dishonest person.  She will say anything to get what she wants.  Are the American people just plain stupid?
As each day goes by,Hillary is showing her true colors that she can lie, forget she said this and that,or ''misspoke''. Do we want someone like this for president? Come on people, the intelligent people can see what kind of people the Clintons are!! How many lies before people will understand that she is not an honest or trustworthy person? The story on the sniper fire is just that, another ''story''. Anything to get back into the White House!! She scares me,she is capable of making up stories, what will she be capable of once she becomes president?
Concerning Obama, I still think you can tell who a person is by the close friends he keeps.
I disagree, polls are often wrong as this one is. Obama sat under a racist and was so impressed with his teachings that he wrote a book using much of what Wright said, even th etitle was a direct quote from Wright. The reason it seems Hillary has taken a bigger hit is this is the first big blow of behind the phony facade of Obama and he hasn't been around the political media battlefied as much as Hillary has. Ths is just the beginning of finding out more about the racist background of Obama and his fans are not used to it but that will soon change as we gather more info. We know Hillary is a media whorehound and will say anything to get what she wants so overstating her Bosnia trip was an attempt to make herself look "heroic" in teh face of danger. It wasn't sniper fire but-- Backfire!!!
Apparently, Mrs. Clinton has forgotten that "Thou Shall Not Lie" is one of the 10 Commandments and her misspoken statements are still a lie by today's standards.  Now, the pot is calling the kettle black because according to White House records, the Clinton's invited the now infamous Rev. Wright to counsel Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky drama.  I guess the Rev. was good enough to counsel the "I didn't have sex with that woman President" but his reputation is now a topic for her to condemn Mr. Obama about.  Since his statements are at least 5 or more years old and based on his own ignorance, I don't see Mrs. Clinton's or Mr. McCain's pastors receiving such scrutiny as to their statements or mistatements as Mr. Obama's former pastor.  Right is Right!  If you are going to hold one man accountable for the misstatements of another, let's open up the vaults for the other campaign participants' pastors as well.  It is a double standard that the media (TV, Radio and Newspapers combined) has created in an already divisive nation of racists.  As the world watches how down and dirty they can get, it will only hurt us and our children who are watching our lead in the end!

Check his voting record.  Obama is considered the moset partisan in all of Congress, to the left of even Ted Kennedy.  How is he going to unite the party?  Its all talk to get elected and people follow him blindly, its pitiful really how simple minded most of us are, lost in our well deserved enthusiasm, but lets be real here, stop dreaming so big that it turns into a nightmare when you awaken.
This is a direct contradiction of several other recent polls, which makes me wonder whose got a horse in the race. Recent poll showed Hillary Clinton coming in more favorably than Obama, this after his "typical white person" remark on radio. Only yesterday a poll released saying if Clinton was not the nominee, 28% of her supporters would vote for McCain; if Obama was not the nominee, 19% of his supporters would vote for McCain. Now, who do you think the Democratic Party should back? The candidate who will lose them only 19% of their independents or 28% of their independents? Sounds to me like if they make Obama the nominee, McCain will have a much better chance of winning: McCain believes it, too, as he tries to attack Obama and ignore Clinton in order to get people used to the slate he wants to see. Is that what the media is doing as well?
Why even spend all the money for an election when polls and the media already have the outcome all wrapped up?
The only voters o'bama will unite are those who have never heard of the rev Wright or know anything about Black liberation Theology...all of which you have never told them what the doctrine of that Church teaches.......and for 20 years O'bama has sat there and been "indoctrinated" and "baptized".He is not a believer in a religion that unites.
I think Obama is the leader this country has been seeking for at least twenty years.  I would vote for him in a New Yrk second, but I will never vote for that lying, hypocritical, dishonest ****, Hilary Clinton.  If she somehow obtains the nomination, I will vote straight Republlican to punis the Democrats for being so stupid as to nominte this crook.
I would just like to say every since this has started i have been unemployed. I am a Afro-American woman 50 years old that is just so sick of this country and the way they do things. I know i am going to be considered unpatriotic which is the new term if you do not agree with the status quo but i think we have some real issues that no one is looking at. Employment, poverty h.i.v. I almost dispise Hillary Clinton she has caused this to be one of the most devisive and underhanded races to ever be and they say it is always like this i do  not beleive it . You all know your self if the situation was reversed meaning she had more pledge delegates she would be out . I know what is going to happen they are going to keep this up until everyone get sick of it or give it to her or John Mcain wins guess what we all loose no matter who wins. You all have disefranchise as you call it a new generation great. I for one will never vote again and neither will a great number of people i know since it does not matter how. I feel sorry for Obama he had the audacity to hope in this country. I see why his pastor feels this way look at how we do thing and the sad thing is you know it and do not care. I am afraid we all loose as i said, Bravo you have suceeded once agin only this time as never befor to disenfranchise blacks all over this country as well as latinos spanish etc. Lesson unlearned. Once this is over Hillary Clinton should never show her face again. It is clear to me she does not care one way or the other and after all she is already rich she should have been stoped early on in this race. and If Obama would have done or used these tactics he would have been disqualified so why do you not just go ahead and disqualify him now. Blacks are sick of it all accept those select few of black commentator that do not want to jepordize their jobs. or books one for example Larry Elder please stop talking to him he is an idiot and has a identity crisis. Poor Ophrah i been reading these blogs all she has done for a lot of people of all kind and she is being wish dead. They dont care what they say in this campaing i am not taking up for Obama but i do not like the way the media is portraying him and the way that he is being done is how they do blacks all over this country in the workplace iknow not just when you go for a top job period. This is just showing young people that fairness is not an option in this country and never will be.  Hillary calls this a spirited campaign no i call it two republican's running against a nigger and i know you want as you will not print it or approve it but who ever decides it will you just think about it.
Chris,
You really got to stop quoting these biased polling and making a big deal out of it.  Guess what?  Obama is having it both ways.  People are scared to say antthing negative in fear of being branded as racist.  Why is it that any Obama guffaw is a distraction while any mistep by Clinton is a major headline.  Please do some meaningful polling and stop this nonsense at NBC and MSNBC.  It is so obvious that you are all pro-Obama.  Tim Russert used to be my favorite and now I just cannot looking at him on TV.  One thing you are not realizing is, you've lost credibility.
This is bullshit you assholes get your bloody comments and critizism together. He needs more experience and to be in  congress longer, all my friends and I will not vote if he is the elected candidate your party stinks. Taking all taxpayers monies and giving to the poor who having children for differnet men and have no values and morals in their lives. You should instill the values and morales to make them better citizens and stop taking from others who work hard to make a beter living for themselves.
THERE HAS TO BE MORE TO THIS ELECTION THEN HILLARY RUNNING ON A TARMAC, OR REV WRIGHT'S SERMON. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MAY TIMES I SAT IN CHURCH AND HEARD A PASTER SAY SOMETHING I DIDN'T AGREE WITH. IF I HAD TO DEFEND EVERY PERSON WHO HAS PREACHED A SERMON WE ALL DID NOT AGREE WITH, LETS START WITH THE POPE, OR JERRY FAREWELL.
Oh, when I read the title "New Clinton Lows", I thought Chuck was going to talk about the lows that both Clintons will stoop to, in order to win the election.
Serves her right.....When they were focusing on the issues before Ohio and Texas Obama was overwhelmingly winning states.....to me that proves that when people on focusing on whats important to americans...they vote for Obama....The only she knew she could win would to be to chop down anyone in her way.....she dismisses his ideas, his wins, smaller states, and anyone who votes for him and paints a picture of Obama being the bad guy for the whole MI and FL mess when it wasn't his decision in the first place to not have them count (it was a punishment by the DNC which ALL candidates agreed to).....After having a president which keeps the American people out in the dark on issues in our country I want someone who I feel I can trust is being open and for the most part honest. Hillary is far from that choice....
This poll couldnt be more WRONG! I supported Obama before the Wright tapes surfaced, But no longer will I listen to his lies, Along with around 50 friends and family that feel the same. I can also provide a list of around 150 co-workers that feel the same. You cant tell me that most of America doesnt feel the same, because i hear it everywhere I go that people no longer support him because of his support of his racist, un-American pastor. Perhaps you should take a poll NOT using Obama campaign staff the next time because America doesnt feel the way you say we do.
It behooves me to think that people can hold someone accountable for another persons actions or words. This issue regarding the Reverend Jeremiah Wright,Oh ye of little faith, each man, woman and child is responsible for his or her own actions(sins). That is unless you can die for them and go to heaven."Let the words of MY mouth be pleasing and acceptable in THY sight,OH LORD." How can he(Senator Obama) be accountable for what this man has said? On the other hand,Senator Clinton said Sniper Fire, with a convincing smile.
I have said this more than onec that you cannot trust HRC, see below this has come up again.

After 9/11, Hillary had a problem. New Yorkers were desperately focused on their own needs for protection and they were saddled with a Senator who was not one of them -- an Arkansasn or was it a Chicagoan?

Interviewed on the "Today" show one week after 9/11, she spun an elaborate yarn. The kindest thing we could say was that it was a fantasy. Or a fabrication.

She said that Chelsea was jogging around the World Trade Center on 9/11 and happened to duck into a coffee shop when the airplanes hit. She said that this move saved Chelsea's life. But Chelsea told Talk magazine that she was in a friend's apartment four miles from ground zero when the first plane hit. Her friend called her, waking her up, and told her to turn on the TV. On television, she saw the second plane hit, disproving Hillary's claim that "she heard the plane hit. She heard it. She did."

So why did Hillary make up the story about Chelsea? Most likely to was because her co-senator (and implicit rival for the voter's affection), a real New Yorker Chuck Schumer spoke of his daughter, who attended Stuyvesant High School (Dick's alma mater) located next to the TRade Center, being at real risk on 9/11. Hillary needed to make herself part of the scene.

She invented the entire story on national television, the "Today" show, and didn't blink an eye.

Her fabrication on the "Today" show was no unique foray. It is her standard M.O.. It gives us pause in evaluating all of her stories and calls into question her entire credibility.

The woman just stands and LIE, LIE LIE.
We should not let her get away with this.
we do nit want this in the white house, she will sell us all out.
HRC is just a BIG FAT LIAR.......

Obama '08

I started out really admiring Hilary Clinton. Up to the point where she voted to invade Iraq I was looking forward to having her as president. Now when I see her I recognize only the will to power.
It is my opinion that the down in the gutter attacks going back and forth will do an incredible amount of damage to the Democrats in the general election It is sad that the greed of one candidate can harm the party with total disregard to the well being of the nation. I also wish that Mr. Edwards would decide who te endorse and do so before the next primary in oredr to start winding down this process. He was my candidate.
So it looks like it is the real rabid partisans that are regurgitating the Wright issue. Most every body else has put it into context and looked at the man's incredible history and moved on.  Also when you compare what he has said it pales beside what some of the white clergy/polititians have had tirades about.
I'm tired of the "drama" around events that do not have anything to do with the issues we care about.
Who is going to be the first to start addressing their plan for healthcare, economy, bringing troops home and other things the voters care about.  Most people just want the facts.  Everyone has things happen in their life, if they survive it makes them stronger - not weak.  Stick to the current ISSUES and forget the rest of it.
I am an older, white woman.  My daughter, recently graduated from
college first got me interested in Obama's campaign.  Then her
violin teacher and my friend, who is also an older, white woman
told me to read the book, Barack Obama, by John K. Wilson.  After
that I was an enthusiastic Yes We Can Obama supporter.

I believe that he is the one to take our discourse to a higher level.
Bill Clinton gave John Hope Franklin a platform to move forward on
race.   Though Franklin made headway, he also met  much resistance.  It is time to focus on respectful,
spirited conversations.  No more tricky bits from Karl Rove's play
book!
I noticed that in the polls it all seemed to be on obama and the problem with his pastor but did you ask the question about hillary and her lieing about bosnia
I am an independent and a staunch Obama supporter, but until recently I would have supported Hillary over McCain should it have come to that.

As of today, I'm not so sure. Clinton's recent scorched earth strategy suggests to me that she is consumed by ambition and is placing her personal aspirations above the good of her party and, by extension, the American people.

While I don't agree with McCain's Iraq policy and he seems to be confused when it comes to the economy, I have absolutely no doubt that he will never put his personal goals ahead of what is right for this Country.
This is a travesty for the democratic party, and so embarrassing.  I'm not sure we desrve to win. I cannot seem to tear myself away from watching it, and absolutely believe that Barack Obama will be the best leader of our country. As a result of the media's feeding frenzy and polarization on this, I think that we are all going to suffer from some "syndrome" when it's over because of the drama/trauma of it all. The more this goes on, the less I believe in the democrats as a party, an organization. Where is Howard Dean?  He's a complete wimp, in my opinion.  He should never have let this get out of hand this way.  A democratic defeat in '08 would be the end of the party as we know it, that's for sure, and on his watch. Last word, Hillary is the scaariest thing that could ever happen to this country.  She's a liar, and has been since we've known her.  How can people mot see that?
Why would people even vote for Hillary? She stayed with a guy that looked the American people in the face and lied about a sex scandal and they didn't do anything to him. Doesn't that tell you a bit about her?
