Bill: Praising McCain

Posted: Thursday, March 27, 2008 7:04 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Kristin Wilson
To a crowd of enthusiastic college students at Dickenson College in Carlisle, Pa., including more than a handful of Obama supporters in T-shirts and waving signs, Bill Clinton told the crowd why his wife would make the best president.

And, in a move that's becoming more and more common, he favorably aligned his wife with the presumptive Republican nominee, John McCain.

"We now have a bipartisan majority in the U.S. Senate, bipartisan, to do something about global warming and do more buildings like this,” Clinton said, “because she and John McCain took reluctant Republicans all over the world and showed them how the planet was changing. She will work with anybody, go anywhere, do anything to move America forward.”

More Bill: "I'm always a little apprehensive when I get up to speak," he said. "I think, you know, people are gonna be kinda looking at me saying, 'I better discount about half of what he says. I mean, they're married, he's gotta say that or he can't go home tonight.'

After looking off stage, shrugging and raising his eyebrows, he concluded, "And you know, there could be some truth to that."

For your information,

I have not seen this posted here yet, and thought you'd like to know. Pennsylvania's Gov. Ed Rendell, was on the news today, looking kind'a sheepish, talking about the race in Pennsylvania. He has been giving  his support to Senator Clinton, and had to concede she's loosing ground here. He looked down-right embarrassed. (Why do people cling to a sinking ship)?

Barack is'nt here yet, in Pennsylvania, but I understand he's on his way. We could be looking at an upset in the making people. Go Pennsylvania! I love you!

Pulling for Obama '08

We LOVE William Jefferson Clinton! We LOVE HILLARY Rodham Clinton! Bill is wonderful asset to Hillary. Bill & Hillary are known, respected and MISSED around the world. Hillary Rodham Clinton will be a great President. Hillary is qualified and electable.

Obama is unelectable.

What kind of man, what kind of father would subject his own part white children to the the racist, anti-white,anti-semitic, anti-Italian, anti-American, pro-Farakhaan, black supremecy, nation of islam supporter "pastor" and Obama's "mentor" Jeremiah Wright??? Obama's new pastor Moss is no better. Why does Obama choose this church and these pastors? It calls into serious question the poor judgment and lack of character of Barack Hussein Obama. It's most certainly not Presidential. Obama's defiant failure to complete disassociate himself from this church and these pastors is a fatal mistake. The question remains, with all the many churches in Chicago, why did Obama choose this one??? His own children will be negatively affected by the hatemongering that is prevalent in this atmosphere. This problem for Obama is the gift that keeps on giving. It is not the gift the Dems need to achieve victory in November.

I'll be a McCain Dem in November if the Dems fail to nominate Hillary. I simply don't like and don't trust Barack Obama. He does not belong on the ticket at all. At least Hillary and McCAin are patriotic.

For me, it's country first, party second.

No amount of 24/7 promotion on the MSNBC Obama network will ever make Barack Hussein Obama electable.

**VOTE SMART!!   **VOTE HILLARY!!**
Ok Superdelegates, please come forward and end this madness!
Why doesn't Hillary just run as a Republican, as much as she and Bill keep endorsing the competition?  Maybe she can still get the Republican nomination, since she could probably figure out a way to make all of the states that McCain has already won appear "irrelevent."

On a side note, I sometimes wonder if  Bill WANTS her to lose.  Either that or he's starting to sort of lose his mind.  Keep talkin', Bill.  PLEASE keep talkin'.  (More finger wagging would be okay, too.)

What appearances/speeches did Michelle Obama or Cindy McCain give this week?

SERIOUSLY MSNBC, I could write up the Bill and Chelsea daily schedule given their free extensive coverage.

Yawn.
Tonya Harding ...or Bendict Arnold...

I was a big Bill fan, but a BIG reason why Al Gore did not win the POTUS was the country was SO TIRED of the Clinton DRama Machine. Bill stepped on his Lewinski a long time ago and lost a lot of credibility..He embarassed his wife then, he is costing her the election now.....Go Home
Since Bill thinks John is a good candidate and he is going around PRAISING him, and I cannot stand another Clinton in the White House, then Bye Bye Democrats. My vote is for John if it is between Hillary and John.
Dickinson College, DickINson... Please correct. http://www.dickinson.edu/

Oh, and Obama 08.
I feel half-bad for Bill.  I think there is a lot of truth to that.
it becomes more and more clear by the day that the Clinton's endgame is getting McCain elected in '08 so that Hillary can get the nomination in '12

and the worst part about it is that the Democratic party isn't going to do one thing to step in and stop it

absolutely disgustung . . . I'll never vote democratic again if she pulls it off
Bill Clinton is already assuming his wife won the Dem
ticket. Is there a reason he is preemting Obama?

Let's see, Barack has more delegates, is more pop-
ular and is more trust worthy then Hillary, and has a
better temperment then her.

Hillary doesn't seem like the brightest light bulb in
the pack. Being catty as she is she should back off,
like her wounds and let the Dem party regain it's good
sense and standing.
Praising McCain is part of the "Tonya Harding strategy" of the Clintons.
Har Har Har.  Funny, but the truth hurts, doesn't it Bill.  :-)
Now Hillary is bipartisan?  Come on.  Sounds much more like Bill is describing Obama.  Hillary's health care reform crashed because she couldn't even work with fellow Democrats, let alone across party lines.  And Bill, really.....building up McCain?  What party loyalty.
Now finally the truth comes out......
McCain/Clinton 08...  We'll be rid of the 'Old politics' forever...   Let them go down together...

Obama 08
Billary knows they are not going back to the White House in 09.
All he's doing is giving the GOP more fodder for the fall against Obama.
They know they are out of it and though they'll never admit it, they want McCain to win and are sneakily helping him right now by lavishing praise on him.
This way they can say that we all "should have voted for HRC" and that we "have no one to blame but ourselves".
Sets her up real good for 2012 since McCain would only be a one-termer and Obama says he's not running again.
Absolutely nothing the Clintons do is unscripted.  They are selling out the Dems for their own power-trip.
These two know no shame at all.

Haoles for Obama.
Oh please. Does he really think there's anybody left who actually thinks they have a real marriage? She doesn't care what he does and vice versa; it's a political alliance and nothing more.
No comment yet?  Point being - no one cares what Bill has to say anymore....he needs to go home and take his wife with him.
Democrats really need to end this. Bill and Hillary campaign for the republican--again. Today Clinton rich fat cats threatened speaker of the house. Ed Schultz on Morning Joe said that Super Delegates had told him of Clinton threats i.e., "We remember who our friends are." "You'll be taken off the president's list." (Bill's old list or Hillary's hopeful stolen new list?) Threat to take funding away from House Dem Reps who are up for re-election--lots of threats if endorse Obama. This may be "politics", but it's dirty politics and it's time for a change. Donate to DCCC and DNC. There are a lot of us to give a little. We need to take the majority in the house and in the senate in the seats up for grabs this year. The Clintons have well and truly shown their true colors this time. House and Senate members didn't do well under Clinton presidency before because of their infamous scorched earth policy then and they haven't changed. Vote with your wallet.DONATE TO DNC AND DCCC
it is falling apart!!! the democrat party is in turmoil. Pelosi threatened by Clintons, What is the mental state of Hillary Clinton?????? ABUSED BY HUSBAND, She is now showing the effects of that emotional and mental abuse
"And you know, there could be some truth to that."

What, he can't go home unless says something nice about his wife?

It is true. Hillary would say anything and go with anyone if that gives her the victory. She has no moral values.
Bill sadly wasted his legacy on the failed candidacy of Hillary.  At least he's making history... no president wasted so much.

Obama 08
Theres absolutely no excuse for any democrat to praise McCAIN repeatedly like that, especially someone that has such seniority as Bill in the democratic party. For one of the most prominent democratic leaders to praise the opposition is inexcusable, no matter how badly you want Obama to lose. I had no problem with Clinton not attacking McCAIN before, but to come out and praise him day in and day out is just really pathetic. It just really shows the Clintons' "if its not me than its nobody" attitude.
I'm starting to think the hypothesis that Hillary is actually in the tank for McCain and is staying in the race to ensure Obama loses to him isn't so crazy as it first seemed.
Since when is praising an opponent, his wife will never actually face in the general election 'cause she's not going to be the nominee, such a terrible thing? It's about time we showed each other more respect. AND, as soon as the monster is dispatched back to the senate, we will.
I wouldn't want an Anti-American president who resents white people
Obviously Hillary and Bill want McCain to win when Hillary loses the nomination.  That way she can run against him in 4 years.  If people who support Hillary cannot see this then they truly are blind.
Unbelieveable!!!  Although a firm supporter of Sen. Obama, I had been trying to keep an open mind re: the potentiality of HRC gaining the nomination and offering her my support should this occur...  I find, however, I cannot, given the comments offered by "The Clinton Family" over the past few days... This family needs to "saddle up" and head home...  A very tight bridle on WRC might well be a good idea as he rides off into the sunset...  Enough is enough...
Bill Clinton is a great speaker and has a wonderful sense of humor. He's also smart enough to know that to win in November and then be able to go forward and work with everyone to solve problems will take a centristpoint of view.  It is clear that Obama is the choice of the most liberal of Democrats and he has played well to them.  History tells us that general election campaigns are run in the middle.
No doubt, it will be a competition for the moderate vote....Clinton is preparing the ground, and the arguement.
If Hillary had an ounce of sense left she would put a muzzle on Bill.  I can only imagine what that household will be like if Hillary is not the nominee.  Hill will blame Bill - Bill will blame Hill.
This is just another obvious Clinton ploy to have John McCain win the 2008 election. This way Hilary, who has no shot this year, can win in 2012. If Obama wins in November Hilary can't run again until 2016. If Obama has a strong VP she is looking at 2020 or 2024. Not acceptable. When will America wake up and see this? The politicos have seen this for weeks but they don't bring it up because they want to keep this going. Hello?? Anyone out there???
I really angry about these comments by the Clinton camp praising John McCain! I just don't get it. If Obama or Clinton is the nominee, I see all of these high praise comments in Republican commercials bashing the Democratic candidate. It just does not make sense to me how the Clintons are willing to bring down the Democratic Party just to win the White House. And I know some Clinton supporters are going to disagree with me, but it is the objective truth. Obama is far from perfect, I know, but it seems to me that the Clintons are doing everything possible to ruin any Democrat's chance of taking back the White House.

I am not a Democrat. I consider myself, now, an Independent Moderate. I use to be a Republican who voted the Bush twice (sorry), but now I am really wanting to vote for a Democrat. No one should praise McCain. He does not have a clue about how to solve the economic crisis in America. He supports this crazy war in Iraq that is killing brave troops and endangering America's rep around the world. He has no healthcare worth a damn. And, finally, McCain represents the same old mess that has been going on for eight years.

DEMOCRATS PLEASE WAKE UP!!!!!! All of this in-fighting between Obama and Clinton (most of which is coming from Clinton) is going to allow McCain to walk his clueless butt right into the White House.
I wonder if the Clintons still want Obama to be their VP.

If they have given up on the idea, then maybe that should make that public too.
What is his problem???  I'm starting to get the feeling that he knows his wife is not going to win this year, so he'd better set it up so McCain can win, thereby giving her another shot at it in 4 years.
MSNBC for Obama continues.

Can you please take Keith "I wear rectangle glasses, pretty smart for a Sportscenter dude?" off the air forever.

Watching the first minutes of every program is like watching Fox News For Obama.

Now leave, Keith, you and your paid guests to agree with you.
Great to see my alma mater in the news, but it's Dickinson College. Glad the candidates aren't just visiting the big schools.
Clinton said, “because she and John McCain took reluctant Republicans all over the world and showed them how the planet was changing. She will work with anybody, go anywhere, do anything to move America forward.”

Ecuse me, Bill prising McCain is not very kosher in my book.  THis is getting completely out of control.

From what I have observed, and I stand to be corrected, Bill Clinton has never, or at least very seldom mentioned Barach Obama by name. If that is true it is very insulting. It shows me that Clinton is a man with a very small mind. I find such behavior contemptable. He does his wife no favors with such lousy attitudes.
Is this a sincere effort to suggest Hillary as McCain's VP (should she not steal enuf super delegates to get the Dem nomination) or is Bill just trying to fool with us?
Of course Bill is going to defend Hillary.  Why not?  Any good husband, in his position and worth his salt, would do the same. I can even understand how he gets angry whenever someone attacks her.  What I don't understand is all the critisism he gets when he does stand up for her.  It HAS to come  from close-minded , biased people.
That was a very strange thing for him to say at the end.

As to him continuing to promote McCain over his fellow democrat...this is down right silly.  There is no way for them to come back at this point and they need to step down and start helping with uniting the party behind Obama.  Enough is enough!
Once again, they may be doing some good things btt I would like to know how 'The Family', the religious order Hillary Clinton and many other republican senators belong to, is tied into her policital ambitions and campaign.  Can someone please start asking some REAL questions.  The Family or The Foundation meet is cells in secert...segregated.  They are right wing and very powerful politically.  I think there is some tie in here to Hillary's relatinship to some of the right wing characters and her praise of John McCain.  I am very disturbed to find out that this is her religious pracitce and because it is a politcally active group, I think it is very important that we understand what they are really about.  I understand that they have a goal to amass power.  Please so many of the things that have been going on with this campaign could be related to this.
Why isn't Michelle Obama given equal billing - seems the media has lots to say about Bill and Chelsea. Clinton news is old - not worth reading as far as I'm concerned.
The Clinton campaign's constant praising of the REPUBLICAN nominee while constantly slinging mud at the DEMOCRATIC front runner is shameful and shows just how much self interest (over love of country) this has become for them.
The master of spin and lie at it again.  Oh pleeze!  If Hillary has remained married to Bill after all his cheating and womanizing antics over the past 25 years, certainly any misspeaking on his part will be greatly overlooked by Hillary.
The majority of the thinking voters in the USA no longer listen to Bill Clinton.  For those who have been observing the Clintons critically over the last 16 years or so, their con game is no longer effective.  One would hope that one side effect of this prolonged campaign is that more and more voters are becoming more and more discerning.
giving credit to reagan = blasphemy
giving credit to mccain = totally acceptable

thanks for clearing things up bill
People don't think that if he doesn't talk up Hillary that he won't be able to go home with her! He already sealed that deal with a stain on a blue dress!
