Clinton: The trust issue

Posted: Tuesday, April 01, 2008 9:06 AM by Domenico Montanaro

Doesn't this lead in the Los Angeles Times exemplify the problem Clinton faces right now? "In one of their sharpest exchanges of the presidential campaign, Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama clashed over the Iraq war on Monday, with each challenging the other's credentials on national security. Meanwhile, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Obama's rival for the party's nomination, went after Obama's supporters for urging her to exit the race."

The Wall Street Journal looks at the trust issue Clinton still has with voters. It's now April of 2008, if Clinton hasn't fixed this issue after 15 months on the campaign trail, will she ever fix it.

Per NBC/NJ’s Mike Memoli, Bill Clinton relied on the support of Jack Murtha and Joe Wilson to defend his wife’s record on Iraq, challenging a member of the audience at an event yesterday in Oregon. Clinton, during an event at a community college in the state capital of Salem, was touting Hillary’s fitness to be commander in chief when someone shouted out that she voted for the Iraq war. “That may be what you think, but that’s not accurate,” Clinton responded. “I think it’s very interesting that people believe they should not vote for Hillary because of Iraq. Now that’s a hoot.”

He then referred to the endorsement by Murtha, whom he called “the most respected anti-war congressman in the entire House of Representatives,” and Wilson, whom he said “paid a terrible price for refusing to lie about the intelligence on Iraq.” Bill continued, “He’s for Hillary. And you know why? Because he knows that the popular explanation of who said what when and who did what when that you’ve been told doesn’t hold water. Now what really matters is what we’re gonna do now.”

As Clinton continued, the same audience member shouted out to ask what would happen if the US left Iraq, leaving the former president a bit frustrated. “You wanna give this speech?” he asked, prompting laughter and applause from the rest of the crowd. “You’ve been trying to interrupt it ever since I started.” He then took a jovial turn, offering the man a deal. “You let me give my talk and then you go outside and everybody who wants to come here you can do it,” he said. “I don’t mind making a crowd for you, I just don’t want to have to share the minutes I’ve got.”

Again, someone in the crowd interrupts while Bill's trying to talk. Apparently HE doesn't get themessage either.....people are tired of the lies. Now Hillary DIDN'T for the war? Just WHO are they trying to kid?
Hillary has proved herself untrustworthy. SHE LIES!!
How can ANYone continue to support her? She remembered it well, the harrowing sniper fire....sickening....haven't you had enough of this?

'Not accurate'?  How so?  Didn't Hillary Clinton vote FOR the war?  How is president Clinton trying to spin her vote FOR the war as a inaccuracy?

Criminals always back each other....
Hey John, what about that $24 million you wasted on for that drug center in Harrisburg Pa. that was supposed to close because it was losin money?

I wish he would let me......
I could end Hillary's chances yesterday.....
Bill would have had me shot at the end of my 8 hour speech about everything from lying on Bosnia to being named after a guy that wasn't famous till five yars after she was born....

Bill Clinton has every right to speak...
No matter how wrong he is......

Now we have the story about Hillary being at a Rolling Stones concert in 1965 and they are her favorite group....

You can bet the press is looking at their schedule and where she was on that day.....

Hillary Clinton
A liar for all seasons.....
The Clintons take lying to a new level.  Now, Bill is arrogant enough to say that Hillary did not vote for the Iraq war, when anyone can google the subject, and see for themselves that she did.

Is there any end to Clintonian arrogance.  Of course, what else would you expect from people who "lose" subpoenaed records, and then "find" those records after the statute of limitations expires.

I wonder if Bill was worried about Hillary when she landed in Bosnia under that heavy sniper fire.  He was probably so scared that he fell off of his intern.

Obama in 2008.  Integrity matters and the Clintons have none.
I really don't trust anything that comes out of her mouth anymore.  Its a shame but she did it to herself.

"That's a hoot"  Penetrating response Bill ::eyeroll::

I suspect the superdelegates are seeing Hillary for what she is now, a very flawed candidate.

I'm not saying Obama is perfect, he has flaws.  But look at how he's dealt with stuff versus look at how Hillary's dealt with stuff...the biggest crock of all is how she kept trying to draw attention to electablility.  Honestly.

Trust...ask the vendors who haven't been paid if they trust her.  Ask her campaign's health insurance carriers if they trust her.  Ask the American people how she can deliver universal health care if she doesn't even consider it a priority to pay her campaign staff's health care premiums.  Ask the rest of us why we should trust what comes out of her mouth when we catch her in profound lies like Bosnia (there was absolutely no need to even exaggerate there).

I believe she has some strengths, I really do.  That is what is so sad.  She has let her strengths be so beaten down by her weaknesses.  That is truly a real shame.
Fix it? She has only reinforced the notions of why voters shouldn't trust her.
"Clinton... was touting Hillary’s fitness to be commander in chief when someone shouted out that she voted for the Iraq war. “That may be what you think, but that’s not accurate,” Clinton responded."

THAT'S NOT ACCURATE???

She DID vote for the Iraq war.

Time for the Clinton "SPIN CYCLE":

***LIE & SPIN LIE & SPIN LIE & SPIN LIE & SPIN LIE***

A method carefully perfected with thousands of lies!!
It's difficult to think about voting for war when someone is busy dodging snipper fire.  Give Hillary a break please!
HILLARY CLINTON IS A LIAR.
All the BILLARYites better wake up and to a quick refresher course in U.S. History and the history of the first term of the Clinton Administration.

The Tall Tale of Tuzla
Hillary Clinton's Bosnian misadventure should disqualify her from the presidency, but the airport landing is the least of it.

The punishment visited on Sen. Hillary Clinton for her flagrant, hysterical, repetitive, pathological lying about her visit to Bosnia should be much heavier than it has yet been and should be exacted for much more than just the lying itself. There are two kinds of deliberate and premeditated deceit, commonly known as suggestio falsi and suppressio veri. (Neither of them is covered by the additionally lying claim of having "misspoken.") The first involves what seems to be most obvious in the present case: the putting forward of a bogus or misleading account of events. But the second, and often the more serious, means that the liar in question has also attempted to bury or to obscure something that actually is true.

She and her husband are shameful.

How could you question the trustworthiness of a combat veteran like HRC. Don't you know that those people in Bosina trusted Hillary with their lives and she got them out of there in one piece? Just watch the video for crying out loud! Hillary's doging bullets while she and the Warrior Princess are running across the tarmac with a bosnian baby in one hand and an M-16 in the other. Of course Hillary is trustworthy.
What are the size of the crowds at Bill Clinton's meetings.? It all has the appearance of an aging actor reduced to playing summer stock or dinner theatre. Even his language is dated. Somebody should tell him to stop wagging his finger. It brings back lots of memories of misspeaks
I read somewhere else that Ms. Chelsea had only about 250 students at North Carolina when she was asked about Monica . This is a non-event , obviously most students aren't interested in her, why is it reported?
With all the travel of Bill Clinton....who pays for his expenses?  Being a past president I think the tax payer does.  Just think how broke her campaign would be if they had to pay for Bill's junkets.  The only reporting about Bill is how many stops he makes but the news is afraid to ask WHO PAYS?

Bob, Chicago
Everytime Bill opens his mouth, Hillary loses
another 100,000 votes!

This is delicious!

Karma, Karma, Karma...
Top 10 Reasons Not To Vote For Hillary Clinton
1. Hillary Clinton has the wrong kind of experience to lead this great Republic.
2. Hillary Clinton lacks the right judgment to be president of the free world. For example she voted for the Iraq war. (Hillary authorized the war and argued on a senate floor that her vote was based on her "experience" in the Whitehouse)
3. Hillary Clinton is a candidate for the big corporations and not the American people
4. Hillary Clinton is a faux agent of change and lacks integrity (She gives a sense of business as usual, DLC corporatist and concealment. (Remember: she said in Chicago that we shouldn’t always say what we think...also remember the GQ magazine story that her campaign pushed to kill?)
5. Hillary Clinton believes that it is naïve and irresponsible to be willing to talk to our adversaries. So does this make the Great Ronald Reagan or the Great President stupid for talking with the Soviets (Remember: If you wish to make a man your enemy, tell him simply, "You are wrong." This method works every time, and if you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies" - Moshey Dayan.
6. Hillary Clinton will not end the war in Iraq . Remember she has refused to apologize for her vote or even call it a mistake. Just imagine what she will do as President.
7. A vote for Hillary Clinton will be a vote for the lesser of the two evils come November of 2008. (That is Republicans Vs Democrats) You don’t want that in your conscience when you have a choice now to vote for Barack Obama as the Democratic Nominee
8. Hillary Clinton takes money from lobbyists and PAC and has refused to stop taking money from lobbyist when her rivals like John Edwards and Barack Obama do not.
9. Hillary Clinton clearly failed to pass a universal health care bill and she is bound to fail again.
10. Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton...th at’s not change...Some things

Thanks to the media and the capitalization of only Hillary's faults, it no wonder that her rates are low.  For some reason they don't touch on the lies that come from Obama, or I should quiet them down. He lies about Rev. Wright, I sat in the pew for 20 years and though I heard what he said, I sit sat there.  Lied about Rezko, I was the only person in Chicago that didn't know he was a player, Even though Rezko and his wife were on my finance committee for my US senate run.  He lied, I don't take donations from big corporations or lobbyist, just bundled money , in small amounts from their employee so no one can see what I am doing,  also for unregistered lobbyist ,so once again in small amounts so no one knows what I am doing ( factcheck.org)  It is time the media is fair and check Obama past, present, before you hand him our future.
Today she is saying that Obama is trying to block people's right to vote.

Lie #87

Rachel Maddow, took the position that Hillary had defelected the Bosnia issue. When another member of  the panel tried to take disagree with that, Maddow, with a raised voice talked over the other analyst reapeating, "she deflected it, she deflected it, she deflected it".

It conjures an image of 'Wonder Woman' Hillary; dressed in red, white, blue, and headband, fending off scandal, vendors, all things negative, with her super power wrist wear! Teeth clenched, fists cocked, knees bent, she's battling.

This is'nt going away. It can't. There can be no respite for the Clinton's on the issue of honesty. They live, and breath deception. They put their trust in 'the lie'. Always have.

Pulling for Obama '08
It is painfully obvious that Clinton is only staying in to leverage herself into the VP slot - unfortunately - it's at the expense of the Democratic Party's chances in November and, in the end, at the expense of the American People.  -   Clinton has every right to stay in  -  just no good reason to.
She's definitely got a credibility problem, a high negativity problem, and a 165 delegate deficit problem.

TRUST? WHAT TRUST!

It never ceases to amaze me how polititions can avoid answering a direct question with an indirect lie.

Mr. Clinton--WHY SHOULD WE BELIEVE WHAT YOU SAY?

Remember a little history.  "I never had sex with that woman" or how about "It depends on what the definitions of is, is".  What was that Impeachment proceeding all about?  Was it just a little missundestanding.

Own up to your mistakes, turn away from lying and missrepresenttions.  TRUST is earned.  Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and maybe that TRUST will be forthcoming.
While Billary squawks, Obama takes on the REAL opponent, McWars.  And Bill's bs-ing; Hillary DID vote for the war in Iraq. That simple, devastating truth does NOT depend on what the definition of the word is, is.
