I really think this is the position she needs to take.  Everyone knows via the rules that the SDs can exercise their own judgment.  As a practical matter though, its a pretty dicey proposition to overturn the will of the people.  I suspect that there isn't a Democrat in the United States that doesn't know that.  Except, of course perhaps, for the Clintons.  I hope I am proved wrong on that.

Okay, Pelosi and Dean have both came out today and said that the supers are to hurry up and endorse the candidate that has the most pledged delegates as to not overturn the will of the voter.

So that means the supers will slowly but surely start coming out for Obama and end this shenanigan!

The Clintons have to stop arguing the 'voice of the voter' argument while simultaneously arguing that superdelegates should and can vote for the strongest GE candidate - in her eyes, her; thereby disenfranchising every voter collectively.

Any outcome that appears to overturn the will of voters can have a detrimental effect on us [Democrats]."  

And that means what Madam Speaker? Don't vote your conscience?

This is the correct message, whichever candidate who wins by the rules should have the support of the superdelegates, unless there are some extreme circumstance that can be documented that the candidate can not be elected.

Well Nancy make sure the FL and MI voter have their say. I will not vote if this democratic party can not get this election right.
The popular vote of large blue states are what is needed to elect a democratic present. All votes and voters must have a say in this primary, nothing less.
And the delegates must not be pressured from The black community.  They are a minority not the majority I know that from personal experience so do not start with the racist flap!

Prediction:

HRC will come out with spin that goes something like this:

"Some people, you know,  want to end this race and are trying to disenfranchise the voters and, you know, I don't think that is fair.  And please please superdelegates, please overturn the will of the voters and give this race to ME!!!"

Pelosi states to the super delegates to vote their conscious, vote the will of the people.  So Clinton won California, Massachusetts, Nevada and on so all those super delegates should be for her , you know the will of the people.

There should be no rush to have Hillary get out of the race. Hillary will be releasing their taxes within two weeks and we can wait until then. As a prelim, however, she might want to talk about their association with and investment in the Yucaipa Cos. I guess they have made about $20 million from the association. Oh, and one of the investments is in a company called Brenco which was recently raided and found 133 workers enduring hunger, cold, overcrowding, rats and cockroaches. Polls say 16% of Obama people wouldnt vote Hillary if h elost but 29% of Hillarys woulnd vote him. I think its going up with him not letting Mi revote and trying to stop Fl being seated and the rest of the states from voteing.He is trying to shut it down and trying to steal it from Hillary.Trying to influence polls against Hillary by saying she cannt win when he knows she can or he wouldnt be struggling so.

Speaker Pelosi is right. Just check out the videos of Sheila Jackson Lee getting booed in her district at the Senate District Convention. Her district go 90/10 for Obama but as a Superdelegate she will vote for Clinton. People don't understand. Maybe it is an integrity issue for Congresswoman Jackson but people aren't seeing it that way.

I still don't understand how we got these SuperDelegates that no one elects.

To All Democrats That Post Here: Please please do not
get in a huff and vote for McCain if your candidate does not get the nomination. I'm not saying that you should vote for HRC if you're an Obama supporter or vice versa.
I AM saying that if either Clinton or Obama are unacceptable to you to please, please, please consider voting third party or for Ralph Nader.
Is a McCain presidency which IMHO is the same as a third term for Georgieboy Bush something you REALLY WANT?

Nancy Pelosi can say whatever she likes, she's already done the damage.I hear all this talk about dems who will not vote if their candidate is out. I found the solution, I am now an Independent.I will vote for whoever can best McCain, but will no longer support candidates based mostly on party lines. The dems on capitol hill have shown how weak they are in trying to stop Bush. I understand they do not have enough votes to do much, but I have not seen many attempts to even put forth legislation to protest White house actions. They talk about all the new voters that have registered. How many do they think will stick around to vote in non-presidental elections.

Madame Speaker,

Voting one's conscience, and the will of the people may be at opposite polls. We the people, were wise to allow the better informed among us overturn our will, if it be in our best interest.

The polls clearly showed, during the TX., OH., RI., and Vermont primaries, that the people consented to  their delegates making that choice for them if need be.

The key word here, is conscience, devoid of political motivation.

When the supers come out to endorse Hillary, (not that there has been much of that in a long time), their endorsment comes with political rhetoric. When Obama recieves an endorsement, it is full of lofty ideals, hope, and poetry, because of the tangible light beaming from within his supers.

Pulling for Obama '08

"Detrimental" is putting it mildly, indeed. If the superdelegates should overturn the will of the voters and disregard the Obama lead, the millions of Obama voters would see it as a  betrayal and many, probably most, would not vote in the general election, thus giving the election to McCain.
