Delegate Update: Obama gains in MS

Posted: Tuesday, April 01, 2008 4:04 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
NBC News has adjusted the delegate count in Mississippi, giving one more to Obama and one less to Clinton. The count was 19-14 and now stands at 20-13. The official results were certified in Mississippi and Obama finished with a slightly higher statewide vote result than originally indicated, 62.5% to 37.5%. That result broke a threshold and triggered the extra delegate.

We are also, however, reducing Obama's superdelegate count by one, since Rep. Al Wynn (D-MD), who lost his primary fight, said he will leave his office in June, two months before the Democratic convention. No word yet if Wynn's exit will reduce the total number of superdelegates from 794 to 793.

Earlier today, we noted that Obama won the total delegates in Texas, 99-94, after the remaining nine caucus delegates were allocated 7-2 for Obama.

Obama now leads by 130 in the overall delegate count, 1637-1507. Obama leads by 164 pledged delegates, 1416-1252. (There remains just one delegate unallocated by NBC News from Democrats Abroad.) Clinton leads among superdelegates, 255-221, per the NBC News Political Unit count.

You are right!!!
Yes We Can!  Yes We Did! and Yes We Are!!

How will the Clinton Campaign Swing This. "YOU LOST TEXAS".  There goes the big State theory out the door.
PA is down to a 5 Point Lead for Clinton.  NC Lead for Obama is expanding.  Neck and Neck in Indiana.
Tell Bill to Chill, the Fat Lady is warming up for the last song!

Republicans for OBAMA 08
Obama is the better candidate as far as I'm concerned. I will never let the mainstream media distort my thinking or influence my decision to vote and support Obama. I truly feel great about this guy and I think that he will do what he says he'll do. I think that the Republicans know that too, that is why the Right-Wing Extremist are trying so hard to make this Rev. Wright stuff stick, but I think that the American people are tired of hearing about it. People see Obama and love him for who he is, not for what his pastor said.

Also, I think that the Clinton camp are turning off allot of people with this Super delegate stuff, especially the super delegates. And as for Gov. Rendell aka "The Joker" (he looks like Jack Nicholson Joker from the first Batman, without the makeup) and James Carville aka "Sunburn or Go ahead - Forehead" (he looks like one of those aliens from Star Wars), they really need to shut up about Obama. We all know that they don't like him and will do anything and everything to see that he doesn't win.
Your pledged delegate totals are a little off:
Obama 1417, Clinton 1248
Explain to me how in a democratic election, a person can win the popular vote and end up with less delegates.

What a screwed-up system
Of course it lowers the number.

You guys really need to check out 2008 Democratic Convention Watch http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/03/superdelegate-ups-and-downs.html . They covered this the day he announced. Also it now only takes 2023.5 delegates to win.

You might learn something.
WTF is Al Wynn leaving so early?  Can't he stay in office thru at least Nov?  Doesn't he know his superdelegate vote is important?!  Oyy!!
Senator Obama will be the 44th President of the United States.  And if we, the People, are listening, we will remember that he didn't just ask us to believe in his ability to change Washington, he asked us to believe in our own.
Yes we can!
