Another superdelegate for Obama

Posted: Wednesday, April 02, 2008 5:59 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Obama
picked up another superdelegate, continuing the slow drip in his direction. (He has picked up 12 since March 4th to Clinton's one.)

The latest is former Sen. John Melcher, of Montana. "Melcher says he chose Obama because he believes the Illinois senator has been against the Iraq war since the start," the AP reports.

Melcher served in the U.S. Senate from 1977 to 1989 and is a superdelegate to the national convention based on his role with the National Democratic Seniors Coordinating Committee.

Obama now leads in the overall delegate count, 1,639-1,507. Clinton leads among superdelegates, 255-223.

99% anti-Hillary comments. MSNBC has become the biggest asskissing OBama network on the planet.I and many otherw have posted pro Hillary comments and they NEVER get posted. Your bias as a news network is sickening. When your boy OBama loses in the General will you still blame Hillary. Pathetic!!! Bet this won't get posted
Dear Chuck Todd,
I just got done watching the Race for the White House panel that you were on regarding Sen. Obama's Hardball College tour appearance. David Gregory and the panel seemed fixated on the 2 Rev. Wright questions that the Senator answered at the event (one from a student and one from Chris Matthews). I found this odd because when I watched the entire event there were so many other questions that he answered. Ranging from civil unions to education.  Sen. Obama said that he was confident that voters were more concerned with the issues that effect their daily lives; jobs, health care and foreign policy. The random questions from the students covered these topics but the panel you were on seemed fixated on the red meat issue instead of the bread and butter issues. Is the role of the media (MSNBC) to set/ dictate the tone of the primary or to report it?

The media decries the horse race aspect of this contest one day but refuses to help the electorate make an informed choice even when real issues and policy positions are discussed.  Can you help me out here and share your perspective on this apparent paradox?
Everyone is WRONG! Only Hillary and Bill know what is best for the country and that is BILLARY.

brock oboma a good speeker but he not playing a race game he want you to think but america has 13 percent african americans  and there comming out in mass to vote for him  and cheching the comtrobution in those states of most african american states he getting controbution from all those area of every aqmount from 5 dallar to 300. in small amount lots of them  and some larger isnt this a race on race  where are you american  of other 87 percent where your vote and opinion or are you gona let america go to ?????? or pennsyvania  vote big and vote hillary  it america turn  stop sleeping
John, stop buying into the Clinton campaign rhetoric and start using your own brain.  The traditionally democratic states are going to vote democrat no matter who the candidate is, and therew will be plenty of time to win over the others if Clinton finally learns to read the writing on the wall.  Besides, the national polls show Obama beats McCain in the GE and Clinton doesn't.

Your candidate is being heartily endorsed by the Republican attack machine right now for one reason and one reason only:  They know they have her beat.
You all are going to regret everything that you are doing to this woman.  And hell no she should not throw up the flag, why should she.  If you all are so confident about your candidate then I say let it continue or are you not so sure that he will beat McCain.  I say this if Hilary is out I will vote for McCain.
And another thing everyone is jumping on the Obama band wagon for all of the wrong reason he can't change nothing if Congress doesn't give him the okay to do so.  And it will take at least 12 years to clean up this mess that Bush has created.  I am still trying to see exactly what he has done while being a Senator, I never even heard of him before now.  So show me the facts.  Talk is good when its on paper but the proof is in the puddin.
Everyone knows that she has not going to be the dem. candidate.  Theproblem is that she can not drop out of the race.

She is 13 million in debt, 5 of which is hers.  If she drops out now she has no shot the raise enough money to pay off the debt.  She is using this extra time to raise more money.  She is doing less advertising and more public appearances such as parades.  Her image is taking a big hit, it is getting to a point that she may not even when her NY senate seat when reelection time comes around.
I LOVE HILLARY,BUT LET BE REAL THIS PRESIDENCY IS NOT
FOR HER LET UNITE BEHIND HIM(OBAMA),HE GOT EVERTHING
TO BE THE NEXT US PRESIDENT
I THINK MC-CAIN PASS RETIREMENT AGE WE NEED A YOUNG
PRESIDENT WITH ACUTE IDEA LIKE OBAMA,LET GO AMERICA
THE EARLIER BOTH CAMPAIGNS COMPROMISE, THE BETTER FOR THEM BOTH.VICTORY IS ALMOST OBVIOUSLY CLOSEST TO OBAMA,BUT IF WHAT CLINTON HAS IS FAITH LET HER KEP ON KEEPING ON. BUT LET HER REALIZE THAT FAITH WITHOUT HUMILITY IS DISASTER.FAITH DOESNT KILL BUT WOULD RATHER PROMOTE REALITY.
John we are checking polls, your girl is losing, vote dumb if you choose, and vote for hillary the lying bosnia sniper fire my husband and Rev Wright are friends but I will lie about that too.  Wise up dumb ass.  Obama 08
I wonder if she will quit once she is down in pledged delegates, popular vote AND super delegates????????
It may not be Hillary's war, but she voted for it.

John,

It intrigues me why a person would support Hillary, despite her outrageous lies over the years, her scandals, her résumé padding, her vicious propensity to attack and discredit anyone in her way, her flipflopping, her apparent blatant disregard for the law, her unethical behaviour, etc.

Did your parents teach you to admire these qualities?  Do you have children?  Do you teach them that these character traits are admiral and fit for a president?  Would you want your children to have such a role model?  Would you want your daughters to stay with abusive husbands to fulfill their career ambitions?  Would you want your children to have any of these traits?

Name me just one thing Mrs. Clinton has initiated on her own (no help from Mr. Clinton or as first lady), worked in the trenches leading others to make it happen, and delivered successfully.  Just one thing.

Most don't need to have that one thing named, because they left at first base, her unfitting character and personality.
Have you noticed who was standing behind and nodding approval as Nancy Pelosi talked about her Obama-favoring stance on superdelegates? None other than Rahm Emmanuel, the only uncommitted Illinois superdelegate, who was a special advisor under Bill Clinton, who has not endorsed her, and now seems to be leaning Obama by his own body language toward Pelosi's comments. This defection from Hillary to Obama would be bigger than the Richardson endorsement.
Imagine the outrage if Hillary Clinton were to win by buying or manipulating the superdelegates!

That outrage makes the scenario a non-starter.
AS A 50 YEAR OLD MALE WHO SUPPORTS CLINTON....I AM ASHAMED OF THIS COUNTRY!....CLINTONS OWN PARTY TALKED HER INTO RUNNING UNTIL SEXISM TOOK OVER! I' HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MUCH SEXISM IN MY LIFE! ALL WOMEN SHOULD BAN TOGETHER....BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE MOST IN THIS COUNTRY DON'T THINK A WOMEN CAN LEAD...IF SADDAMS SON OBAMA WINS THE DEM NOMINATION...I WILL VOTE FOR McCAIN........OBAMA IS ALL TALK!IF HE CAN'T WIN THE BIG STATES ...HOW CAN HE WIN AGAINST THE REPUBLICANS?
Time to drop out Hillary.

Time for New York to put a swift end to your senate career.
its a slow death for clinton, Sen. Obama's nomination is obvious, it is going to happen.  why clinton insists on staying in the race and doing damage to Sen. Obama's chances can only be explained by the depths of her selfishness.  If clinton drops out now, Sen. Obama will win big over mccain.  if not, the race will be tighter and we need a large margin to ensure that any tricks the republicans play this time around (as they have done over two decades) will be nullified.
TO:big ben , buffalo ny-- Do you have that much hate in your heart that you would allow 4 more years of another Bush... Come on! If you think it is bad now, just wait unit McCain get in there by not voting Democratic... I don't know about you but I have a daughter and I want a better future for her.

VOTE Democratic NO MATTER WHAT...Or be prepared for the WORSE of the U.S. becoming a new third world country. People we need to think!!
It looks like Jimmy Carter is going to endorse BHO.  Here's a quote from thisdayonline.com, "We are very interested in the primaries. Don’t forget that Obama won in my state of Georgia. My town which is home to 625 people is for Obama, my children and their spouses are pro- Obama. My grandchildren are also pro- Obama. As a Super Delegate, I would not disclose who I am rooting for but I leave you to make that guess,"  This has to be the one that will have Hillary saying...  You sunk my battle ship!
Message to John:
Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvannia is not the only states in American and for anyone to think like that is being small minded, which shows why Obama has the popular vote because many are tired of the same ole way of political additions and ideologies.
John, she does not have a chance in hell!  Come on over to Obama, when she loses you are going to vote for him anyway....LOL
The latest reminders about Hillary's Watergate activities -- fired with no references for unethical conduct should put her out of the race immediately.
I think the superdelegates, are more concerned about their positions. If they were to back HC they would be going against the people, ok people got them to the place where they are today. HC says the SD will make the decision about who the nominee will be. I guess its backfiring.
John, I do not see your logic, Hiliary is the most despised candidate, she stated McCain would make a good president???? She went negative first, and she is NOT experienced. As an Obam supporter I will not vote for her, I would kindly write in Barack's name, as well as spread the word to do so over the internet on MYSPACE and any other outlest that I am affiliated with,  I would instruct others to do the same. IF HILIARY IS THE NOMINEE, THERE WILL BE NO MORE DEMOCRATIC PARTY..................IT WOULD BE VIEWED AS THE REPUBLICAN JR. PARTY........
If this woman that is running has a flase sense that she can still win how is she going to deal with a miltary descion to keep adding our young in something that may not pan out? The end is all that counts for this woman!
Super Delegates it is time for you to read what the people of this great nation are saying and join the band. NO MORE CLINTON.

Obama For President and Change for America
Wake up people.  The Clinton's aren't stupid.  They know they can't win the nomination.  This is the `012 strategy.  Weaken Obama so he can't win, this way she doesn't have to wait until `016.  It's the same reason support for Kerry was so weak the last time, the same reason she "moved" to New York, etc., etc.
How dare anyone get in the way of their plans for sixteen more years (don't forget Chelsea).
Mrs. Clinton, we all know You and your family (the linton family) hates to lose but time is ticking away and the message has being going around that superdelegate will not over-rule the vote of the people. It is hightime you and your family do yourselves a favor by leaving the race in happiness than to damage Your Political future the more. Get it straight, no one is forcing you to leave the race but Your destiny is in Your hands do as you wish for you will reap the benefit or looses in the near future.
John (Sent Wednesday, April 02, 2008 7:06 PM):

Funny. The latest national poll I recall seeing shows 59% of voters saying Obama can beat McCain whereas only 39% say that Hillary can beat McCain. In that same poll 62% identified as Republicans think McCain can beat Hillary whereas only 22% of Republicans think that McCain can beat Obama. I would say that is a problem for Hillary, not Obama.
1: You can find a poll to prove almost anything. It's best to look at those "poll of polls" to get an average of the sillyness.

2: The "gap" in PA has been slowly narrowing for weeks which proves that the longer he has, the stronger he gets. Even if she wins in PA, if she wins by only 5 or so %, she's is done.

3: The "big state" argument is balloney. She won big states against a fellow democrat utilizing a primarily democratic voter base. That's like saying the Yankees are going to win the World Series because Yankee fans voted 9 to 1 that it is going to happen. A better gauge of how Dems will do is by looking at voter registrations.

Obama now leads in the overall delegate count, 1,639-1,507. Clinton leads among superdelegates, 255-223.

YOU SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED ALSO THAT SEN. OBAMA IS LEADING IN PLEDGE DELEGATES, 1419-1250. THE DIFFERENCE IS +169. IF YOU WANT TO FOCUS ON THE OVERALL COUNT, THAT'S FINE BUT DON'T PUT ANY ACCENT TO HIM NOT LEADING IN SUPERDELEGATES AND LEAVING OUT HIS INSURMONTABLE LEAD IN PLEDGE DELEGATES. THE LATTER WILL DECIDE THE ELECTIONS.
I think Bill should stop expecting the superdelegates to just hand Hillary the Election because he was the former President. If Hillary would look at her husband track record she would see why some supers are relutant to give in so fast. She lies about her ability to lead and experience and he lied about his affair. Let's take into consideration that we are talking about the White House and more and more each day we see the bigwigs getting into trouble with women. The question for Hillary would be why Bill is upset with Richardson about the endorsement. Hillary is not saying anything so why should Bill. Bill needs to let Hillary fight her own battle for President, because now it seems as if there is a big stake riding on Hillary in the White House. So supers be cautious about what is up with Bill and Hillary for the White House.
I agree. The slow drip is the end for her. It's brilliant.
