Hillary raises $20 million in March

Posted: Thursday, April 03, 2008 3:50 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray
The AP is reporting -- and First Read has confirmed with a campaign source -- that Clinton raised $20 million in March, about half of Obama's haul for the month. Still, as the AP notes, it is Clinton's second-best monthly performance.

What is unknown about Clinton's March haul, however, is the split between the money that can be used for the primary versus the general. In the past, a fraction of Clinton's monthly and quarterly fundraising hauls has included general-election money.

Now if you subtract the amount that she OWES to companies that she hasn't paid back yet, she is going to be in a NET loss for the campaign season. American people are starting to see the light. People can argue all they want but the fact is Hillary can not keep her ship from sinking. The holes are getting larger and larger each day.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yeah, the unknown 'split' is crucial.  It's the difference between whether she's gonna have to loan herself another $5mil or not.

We'll be waiting to hear you report on that.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Where are all you Hillary supporters when she needs you the most? Come on....send her a check!
also would like to know her debt level and if she loaned any more money to the campaign
She has to be broke...she spent that  much last month.

BTW Obama was carrying $30 mil into the month of March he should have close to $40 mil COH end of March
Go home. Campaign in deep debt and hanging on life support. We the people are ready to move on without the Bush/Clinton dynasty. Crisis, crisis, crisis. This is the reality in Hillary's campaign.
So has she paid all of the people that she owes money?

And how much of that is for the General?

And after all the people are paid and General money subtracted, then how much in the red is she still?
What in the world is going on in their finacial office?  A while ago they said that they were going to report it on the 20th to meet FEC deadline.  Now they throw a number out there without the split for the general.

Is this a preview of how they would run EVERYTHING???

I've witnessed the new talking points that Obama lied about being a Professor. Everyone who went to college knows that every lecturer of a college course is called a "professor". If it is in written form by a non-tenured professor it is with a small "p". How would Obama indicate in his spoken word that I was a professor of constitutional law but not a Professor or tenured. Good luck with nit-picking. Also same talking points include some inconsistent details of his childhood as a equalizer to the Bosnia story!

Unless you grew up in Compton (apologies to all current residents), you can never mispeak or forget if you were under or close to sniper fire or not? Not even close! Simply admit to lying!
How much did she loaned herself this time? let me guess another $5 mill (not to mention the fat cats who have donate to her campaign)? With that money I would be able to hire more than enough consultants to xerox my tax returns.... Oops I forgot she is the most secretive politician in the history of America. NO you can't see her tax returns, NO you can't see her documents as first lady, NO you can't be openly gay to serve your country in the army, NO you can't follow the rules (unless they in your favor: like the superds)NO you can't create jobs in America and that is why we need neoNAFTA deals...

She is behind by a LOT of delegates, states, and popular vote AS FAR AS I KNOW...

I officially swirtch my support to OBAMA 08'

Some money talks but Obama's money cries out with the voices of more than one million people talking directly to Hillary Clinton. They're saying "no more."

Please elaborate on what determines General vs Primary allocations.
If Obama has maintained success after the attacks from The Clintons, Geraldine Ferraro, & the Rev Wright controversy with hardly a move in the polls, the GOP oughtta be a piece of cake.
i don't think is her supporter; i do know hillary don't know who to spend money. i think as a supporter like me, i wouldn't donate if my money is going to be used to buy donut. i think everybody speak for theyself
Hillary is done-zo.  Pure Domination.
By the way, I think the new insourcing idea - given breaks to companies to generate jobs here seems like a repackaging in a fancy word or Obama's stump line of stop giving tax break to companies that shipo jobs overseas and instead to companies that create jobs here.
How's this as a Hollywood portrayal of how I personally see the two candidates coming off...

Barack Obama is like Gregory Peck as Addicus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Hillary Clinton is like Shelley Winters in The Poseidon Adventure or in Bloody Mama!

Yikes!
When will details about Clinton's campaign finance be available? Are the debts to small business owners paid? Has she repaid herself?

She has run such a fiscally irresponsible campaign. I have zero faith that she could answer an economic crisis call at 3am or 8am or any other time of day.
What was her NET Cash Flow after bills get paid?

Will she answer the Debt Collector's Call at 3am?

Where's the vendors cut.

They should file a class action suit. Where is an ambulance chasing lawyer when you need one? Hey, Hillary could represent them, sue herself, then claim all the award from the hours she'd bill. Someone on this blog complained on behalf of the Ohio vendors she dumped. They bought her 3am pitch. Now they can meet her in court, at 3am.

Pulling for Obama '08

Aww poor Sillary's dreams are going down the toilet just like her fund raising. I geusse Sillary will be back on SNL with another dum spoof..... I Just put $50 on Obama's plate. Eat well Obama eat well!!!!
I just contributed to her campaign online....

She's going to win this nomination
Her camp this morning said they weren't going to release that until the 20th.  It shows that she is losing to Obama on the money fron and number of doners.  It shows people are losing faith in her viability.  The fact that someone from her campaign leaked this, shows she is losing control.
Ouch.  Diane, you ask where are all her donors?  Well, she never had that many to begin with and the vast majority of the ones she does have are tapped out - given the $2,300 max for the primary already.  So, when she needs to turn on the financing faucet, rather than tapping into the 1.25 million or so donors that Obama has (over 90% of which still have room to contribute more), she's pumping dry holes...
Surely she can loan herself some more. Bill hasn't been working hard to advise Middle Eastern corporations and elites for nothing.
New Insider Advantage poll confirms the Public policy Polling pol yesterday.  PPP Poll showed Obama up 45-43.  Insider Advantage released today shows HRC up 45-43 in PA, showing that the race is not deadlocked.  Bad, bad news for Clinton.
Don't kid yourselves - 20 million is hardly anything to sneeze at.

I remember quarterly (3 month) totals where Obama raised 20 - 25 million.

So Hillary certaintly still has a lot of support out there.

Further evidence of her support is the fact that she is dead even with Obama in the daily Gallup tracking poll, runs better than Obama against McCain in OH, PA and FL AND leads Obama in upcoming primary states of PA, IN, WV and KY.

If by a "fraction" you mean the majority of money she has raised this year is actually only available for the general.  I think that counts as a little more than a "fraction".

She's a goner.  The question is - will she go with grace or with a snarl?  I have been please in recent days whith her turn towards the positive and McCain focus.  If she does that she is free to spend as long as she wants in the race.  If she starts attacking Obama again it's time for the adults to step in and tell her it's over.
The Federal Election Committee (FEC)says candidates must file by the 20th of each month for the prior month.  All reports are electronically filed online and can be viwed by all.
All this new talk now about popular vote as  measure (and not the delegate count as the rules have it).

What no one mentions is that the popular vote count being quoted as .7 million or .35 million is minnus the caucaus states wehre BO won some by around 60:40 margins. So how is a popular vote count subtracting those states show much. Even if u discount that BO wins caucuses by a greater margin than would a primary, a projection would still show that in the "real" popular vote count of all states, Hill can no longer catch up as with the delegate count or number of states won.

Please First Read do some calculations or at least put a caveat behind every mention of popular vote.
I must say - I find all you "Obamanites" curiously amusing if you really believe Sen. Obama is electable come November 2008.  It matters not in the least how much money he raises come fall. Swift boater’s pockets happen to be very deep ;-)

So giddy up!  Bring it on as they will crush any chance for a democrat taking the Whitehouse if he is nominated!
Lets see.. She started the month of March with about 3 million dollars on hand(or less). She also has about 12 million in debt and spending about 1 million a day. Well by my calculations she's not only broke, she's in the red at least 15 million.
Daily Kos just put up a post that claims Hillary is done, due to financial problems.

Let me just say this about that: That is an understatement.

One reason Obama is spending so much money in a state he isn't supposed to win... agreeing to debates...

He knows.

Chuck, Mark and Domenico know...

How soon Hillary will unplug or detonate is a matter of days, maybe weeks... Bill has already blown his grenade cap...

Sorry, sad spectacle.

Notice Obama getting cooler and more confident daily.

The Hardball performance was in the same class and quality as his speech on race...

Turn out the lights, Hillary, before the electric company pulls the plug.

Do it for your country.  That would be real nice.

Dead even with Obama?

So last month.

Dead in the water is more like it.
Notice how Barrack spotted Hillary 250 to 160 something superdelegates back in 2007. The new number is now 255 to 223? Talk about spotting someone a few frames.

In fact the whole election has been that Hillary was spotted donors, states, votes and support (based on the Clinton name) and hasnt come up with anything new since based on mix of bad management style and other factors.
well good then she can pay the compaines here in Youngstown, Ohio for her rallies that they set up for her!
WHO CARES ABOUT HRC"S MONEY?

why are we still talking and reporting about HRC.

She is already out of this and we need to IGNORE HER.

No one cares about her and her little money problems (except all of the people that she stiffed).

Lets talk about the TWO GENERAL ELECTION CANDIDATES.

And Billary ain't one of them.

Please join me in REFUSING TO DISCUSS HRC AND HER LITTLE POSSE OF DOUSHBAGS EVER AGAIN.

Lets just forget about her and June will be hear before we know it and she will HAVE to go away.

McSame is TOAST!!!!

Obama 08

Yeah, Obama is taking money from all the Oil Companies and special interest groups on the sly so he should be ahead....
She's running even with Barrack?

How sad. This was the establishment candidate.

The reason she's still hovering the the 40s in the poll is that she was given this position (votes, donors, super delegates, states) even from 2007 by the Clinton legacy. Problem is she never expanded or grew that.

Also, some good women who rightly would like to see a woman president dont want to give up on this because they fail to see another coming up soon enough in future. But then who forewaw Barrack where he is today. All good intentioned women, please join us in taking this country to new success and heights.
ks asked, "Please elaborate on what determines General vs Primary allocations."

A donor gives money (once or often) to a candidate. The donor is limited to $4600 in total donations. Only the first $2300 of that $4600 can be used in the primary. The rest has to be spent on the general election.

If your donors are wealthy, they can give $4600 and then they are "tapped out." If you have many less-wealthy donors, each can give small amounts during the entire primary and general election process. Clinton has more of the former. Obama has more of the latter. She needs to develop new donors. He can continue to use his previous donors while seeking new donors.
Since we moved from one measure to another (Delegates count, states, votes etc) for declaring a victory or claim to be a better candidate ...now why is that $ raised is not a measure or is it?
although everyone knows clintons campaign is lost, due to the clintons arrogance and over inflated ego's I still don't see them graciously stepping aside as long as they can get someone to pay their bills, if they can stay in it financially they will go on until they have to be dragged kicking and screaming from the lime light, they will not be denied the opportunity to do as much harm as possible to obama because he has stolen their self perceived 'right' to be the nominee, this is probably the most spiteful two human beings on the planet, set back and behold their true legacy
