*** Petraeus-Crocker, Round 2: After their testimony last September, Gen. David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker return to Capitol Hill today to brief Congress on the war in Iraq. And they’re not the only ones returning: Clinton, McCain, and Obama -- who have been strangers to the Hill over the past several months -- also will be on hand for the testimony. As we mentioned yesterday, Clinton might have the most to gain, given her need for some type of game-changing moment in the Democratic race. But there is no doubt that all three will be in the spotlight, maybe more so than Petraeus and Crocker. However, as NBC’s Ken Strickland points out both Clinton and Obama -- due to their lack of seniority -- won’t be speaking until about two or three hours into each hearing. The testimony kicks off at 9:30 am ET at the Senate Armed Service Committee, on which both Clinton and McCain serve. And it continues at 2:30 pm ET at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, of which Obama is a member. The testimony moves to the House on Wednesday.

*** Should it be all about Crocker? Before the first Petraeus-Crocker hearings, Petraeus garnered most of the fanfare and attention. (Remember that “Betray-us” ad?) But shouldn’t the spotlight -- at least from critics -- really be on Crocker when the two testify again today? After all, with the violence down in Iraq, isn’t the political situation there the easier target? It looks like Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will be taking that approach. Per a Biden spokesman, the senator (and former presidential candidate) “will focus his questioning on the stated purpose of the surge, to bring violence down so Iraqi leaders could come together politically. Violence has come down, for now, but the Iraqis have not come together. The surge was a means to an end -- political reconciliation -- that we seem no closer to. He’ll ask generally: What’s the timetable and what are the prospects for getting there in the months ahead?” Expect to see the other Democrats, including Clinton and Obama, follow this line of questioning. But the fact that Petraeus is being portrayed as the star by the media means the Republicans may have already won the early spin war on this day.

*** Here we go again: A new Quinnipiac University poll has Clinton leading Obama by just six points in Pennsylvania, 50%-44%, down from the nine-point lead she held last week in the same poll, 50%-41%. Exactly two weeks until the primary there, it seems a lot like we saw in the lead up to Ohio: Obama is gaining ground on Clinton almost every day (while racking a superdelegate per day, too). And not only are polls closing, but Obama's financial advantage on the ground is growing, with SEIU dumping nearly a million dollars. Deja Ohio? Yet as we’ve asked before: Will the result be different this time? Will Obama keep the race as close as some of the polls are beginning to suggest? The answer could very influence whether the Dem race lasts through June (and beyond) or if thing might be over in May. Also, who says pollsters never call them? Ed Rendell, it turns out, was polled by Quinnipiac. The governor said he was at home last weekend when the Quinnipiac pollster called him. One of the questions was whether Rendell's endorsement impacted his vote. "I said 'absolutely.'"

*** Staying alive, staying alive? Is Mark Penn sticking around or is he spinning the press on his role? The Washington Post: "Despite the announcement Sunday that he is giving up his strategist role, it remains to be seen how removed he will be. Penn was on a top-level conference call yesterday, one insider said; he is helping Clinton (N.Y.) prepare for the next Democratic debate, on April 16; and his firm, Penn Schoen & Berland Associates, will continue to conduct some polling for the campaign." Does the Clinton campaign really contain the damage by allowing Penn to stick around? Remember, however, that there was plenty of speculation that Patti Solis Doyle was sticking around, too. But after about two weeks, it was clear she wasn't. Let's check back in two weeks and see what Penn's role really is."

*** Presumed guilty: So how did Clinton get presumed guilty in telling this story involving a woman in Ohio and her health-care coverage? As it turns out, per the Washington Post, the story is mostly accurate -- the woman didn’t get care at another hospital. That's the story of the Clinton campaign, actually: She is presumed guilty on a number of issues until the campaign can prove her innocent. This is the baggage she carries from her husband's administration. It's as much about the distrust Bill Clinton earned with the media -- and public -- over eight years as it is with her. As much as his presidency and record has been an asset for Clinton, it also has been a liability.

*** 527s galore: The race is on to be THE Republican 527 this cycle… Yesterday, the Boston Globe reported on the creation of a new GOP group “led by operatives who ran the 2004 Republican group Progress for America and … funded at least partly by ‘alumni’ of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.” There’s also the American Future Fund (which began running ads to benefit vulnerable Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman) and Freedom’s Watch (which played in an earlier special congressional election in Massachusetts). Do these groups help make up the GOP’s finanacial disadvantages heading into November? Or do so many different groups -- perhaps a la the Dems in 2004 -- end up cluttering the message? It appears these 527s will be attempting to stake out specific turf, with Freedom's Watch being the House 527 and the others competing to be the Senate one. What's unclear is which one will be the presidential 527, if there is even one at all.

*** The delegate count: Obama is within 30 superdelegates of Clinton (255-225), as he added one more superdelegate to his total yesterday. Montana National committeewoman Jeanne Lemire Dahlman told the AP (and the campaign confirmed to First Read) that she is throwing her support to the Illinois senator. However, another Montana superdelegate, Margaret Campbell, who had been reported to back Obama, withdrew her support yesterday, citing party rules calling for neutrality. In the overall count, Obama leads by 134 (1,641 to 1,507). He has a 164 pledged-delegate lead (1,416 to 1,252).

*** American Dreamz? NBC/NJ’s Aswini Anburajan reports that Obama is going to be delivering a video message on American Idol’s “giving” episode this week. John McCain also will be delivering a message, and we think Clinton will as well.

*** On the trail: In addition to the Petraeus-Crocker hearings on Capitol Hill, Clinton already has addressed the Communication Workers of America and then she joins former NFL QB Jim Kelly and Sen. Chris Dodd to call for passage and funding of the Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act; McCain attends a Vets for Freedom Rally in DC and later hits a fundraiser in DC; and Obama, like Clinton, has already spoken to the Communication Workers of America. Also, Chelsea Clinton campaigns in Indiana, while Michelle Obama stumps in North Carolina.

Countdown to Pennsylvania: 14 days
Countdown to North Carolina, Indiana: 28 days
Countdown to Election Day 2008: 210 days
Countdown to Inauguration Day 2009: 287 days

Throughout this whole primary season, I don’t think Hillary or Team Clinton has seen the football since the kickoff.  She is going from foolish, to embarrassing, to total flameout.  All the gaffes, moving the goal posts, and most prominently the lies have come home to haunt her.  Any yet half the Democrats in PA appear to be on the verge of voting for her.  As an Obama supporter, I can accept those people voting for her out of protest to Obama or that they don’t like him or his race.  I find it difficult to comprehend what any Hillary supporter sees in her to want to place a vote for her if it is not out of protest to Obama.  What do you see in her that we don’t?  Are we dense?  Or are you dumbfounded by perceived strengths, and a longing for the old days of Bill?  Are women voting for her just because of her gender?

I have mentioned before that she seems to be made of Teflon.  I am happy to see some of these recent fiascos start to stick.  I cheer when these recent failings take root.  I get upset the more I read and hear reports of her backstabbing attempts with super delegates; especially using the Rev Wright issue to pry away votes.  The Bosnia lie was stupid on her part.  The Canadian NAFTA pre-Ohio rants, and her role with NAFTA all along, points to her weakness of character.  Mark Penn…enough said.  Now she is bellowing that she was against the Iraq war before Obama since his time in the U.S. Senate started.  This in light of the documented fact he publicly was against the war as a Senator one month before she mentioned anything in the Senate.

I hope she Google’s the term back bencher.  She will be an outcast in the Senate, and I see no chance of her being successful for a run in 2012.  I will also cheer to see the windbags Rendell & Murtha go down in flames after Obama secures the nomination and wins the Presidency.

The briefing from the generals is quite simple really, more lies, more money, more blood, more time.
More, more, more, they only want more.
I LIVE IN MICHIGAN.WE HAD A LONG TIME MAYOR IN A NEAR BY CITY THAT WAS THE A BIG TIME CROOK AND RACIST TO BOOT.THE CITIZEN DID NOT LOOK TO HARD AT HIS NEGITIVES BECAUSE HE IMPROVED THE CITY SERVICES AND OPENED MANY GREAT PARKS.THE PUBLIC LOVED HIM! MY POINT IS YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH BLOODY MURDER AS LONG AS THE PUBLIC THINKS YOU ARE TAKING CARE OF THERE NEEDS.
You still haven't added the new North Dakota superdelegate for Obama. On Sunday, the state's campaign director for Obama was elected by the state Dem-NPL convention as the add-on at-large unpledged delegate. The state's delegation is now 15-5 for Obama with only the state chairman uncommitted.
On one of the morning shows, it was said that Iraq has something like 50 million bucks set aside.  I heard it when I was busy, and I hope one of you will correct me if I heard wrong.  At any rate, if that is true, when will they become responsible for the bills that the American taxpayer is paying on their behalf?  That is a question I would like asked today.
Petraeus & Crocker will be there to pump the same old "things are getting better but we need more time".(Remember Admiral Fallon called Petraeus a "psychophant"{fancy word for "ass kisser"}). Hillary will be using the event as a "change the subject moment". The ONLY bright spot is that Barack will genuinley TRY to get at some facts and find a way to really improve things. Thank you in advance Senator Obama.
Got Hope?
I think it is wrong of you to attribute Senator Clinton's credibility problem entirely to her husband's administration. She has had her own problems with being truthful, sniper fire being the most recent example.  The reason people take what she says with a grain of salt is she is prone to..uhmmm, shall we say exaggeration?
According to people on Pres.Clinton's staff she was not for NAFTA and was pressed to help Bill and others have spoke out about Bosnia story (it was not cake walk). The Ohio hospital story she told has now been proven to be correct. There never mention of a name in her campaign.
Obama should be questioned he allowed his girls to listen to the rants of Wright. What is his connection to William Ayers and why he lied about how long he had known Rezko? He says that he don't take money from oil and gas companies and lobbists.Go to fact check (over $200,000).
Presumed guilty?
All of this presumption is because of nasty old Bill?
It has nothing to do with sniper fire in Tuzla?
Or bringing peace to Northern Ireland?
Or ending the misery of Kosovar refugees?
Naw.
It is all Bill's fault.
Bill and all of those nasty media people that refuse to grant Hillary the press she deserves!
Ya right.
All of the polling points to a deep misunderstanding.  Hillary MUST be trustworthy.  After all.  It is just her biggest adviser, key contributors and key players from Bill's administration that believe supporting labor means supporting the death squads that hunt labor organizers down.  No wonder Wal Mart liked Hillary so much.
Oh ya.  I forgot.  Those are all the opinions of her biggest supporters & advisers.  Not Hillary's!
As far as we know.
"So how did Clinton get presumed guilty in telling this story involving a woman in Ohio and her health-care coverage?"
*******************************************************

Uhhh... because she is a liar.  Remember 'snipers in Bosnia'?  Her every word will now be scrutinized.

At least, I hope it will.

Watch for Obama to look Presidential during these hearings. This morning on the Today Show he stated that he'll be looking for some answers, such as, "What do they define as "success"? And it didn't sound like he's stand for the non-answers they received in September. He said, "They tell us we can't pull out troops because the fighting has increased. Then they tell us we can't pull out troops because the fighting has decreased. So WHEN can we begin to pull out our troops?" ALL the news people are saying that McCain will come out a winner here today. HOW is that even possible if 70% of the American people are AGAINST the war in Iraq? Someone explain!
Here we go again.

FR compares Obama's surge in the polls with the lead up to Ohio and Texas.  Over the last weekend before those primaries, Clinton re-surged on the basis of the "kitchen sink" attacks -- notably the Nafta/Canada snafu and the the three am ad.

Will she be able to pull a similar re-surge in PA?  With all the negatives occurring in her campaign recently, I have my doubts.  Obama may well keep the margin very close in PA or even win it!
...and the wierdest thing? Every one of the people mentioned above, are related to Kevin Bacon.
Who's kidding who ?

Billary will decide trade policy based on her campaign
contributions and then sell out America

She wants her own $109 million, too

Would you buy a used car from Hillary Clinton ?

Would you buy a used war from Hillary Clinton ?

From Politico.com:

'HRC Colombia ties don't stop with Penn

By EAMON JAVERS | 4/7/08 6:56 PM EST

Mark Penn isn’t the only Hillary Rodham Clinton
supporter on the wrong side of the Colombia trade
agreement.

The Democratic-leaning advocacy firm the Glover Park
Group, former home to Clinton campaign spokesman
Howard Wolfson, signed a $40,000 per month contract
with the government of Colombia in April of 2007 to
promote the very agreement that Clinton now rails
against on the presidential campaign trail.

That means Glover Park Group was arguing the same
position as Penn's firm. The contentious Clinton
strategist and Burson-Marsteller chief executive lost
his campaign job over the weekend after The Wall
Street Journal revealed that he’d met with Colombian
officials to plot strategy on the pact.

Several other Glover Park employees have deep
connections with the Clintons, including founding
partner Joe Lockhart, who served as the White House
press secretary under President Bill Clinton, and Joel
Johnson, who was a senior communications adviser in
the Clinton White House.

Six employees of Glover Park Group contributed a total
of nearly $20,000 to Clinton’s campaign in 2007,
according to data kept by the Center for Responsive
Politics.

Wolfson, who is set to take over many responsibilities
from the departing Penn, resigned from Glover Park
last year to avoid conflicts of interest but retains
an equity interest in the firm...'
Forget the politcs of the war in Iraq for a moment.  Senators, please ask GEN Delayus why it costs so much money each month for your operations.  Iraq and Afghanistan are costing $144 - $192 billion dollars, and amount equal to one-third the regualr Defense Dept fiscal year budget. Yet one-thrid of our forces structure is not engaged in this fight.  What costs so much?  Why can't we cut back some of this funding?
To all the Hillary-haters out there now.  You can make your snide remarks and jokes all you want for now--but remember November isn't that far away and we'll remember your insults.
Kay, Newark Ohio,

Go ahead and continue to believe the blatent lies told by Clinton.  Clinton was wildly in favor of NAFTA and she employs people to support the Columbian free trade agreement.  Clinton's Bosnia trip was easier than a cake walk and to believe different really shows how you have been utterly duped by Clinton.  Thirdly, her hospital story seems pretty shady to me.  I know it is killing you to realize that the ONLY reason why you're voting for Clinton is solely because she is a woman but why don't you try to actually learn some of the issues.  You may not be quite as convinced of her ability once you learn that she is a pathological liar.
If Penn was involved on a conference call yesterday, will continue to conduct polling, and is preparing Hillary for the debate, then he has not left the campaign. He is an active member. What - are we stupid? The norm for Hillary is to say one thing (what we want to hear) and simultaneously do another (what she wants to do). Remember NAFTA: It only looked like Hillary supported Bill with her appearances and hostess duties, but in her heart she was really against it. And, even though she signed off on authorizing Iraq, she didn't know Bush would actually proceed.

If Penn is working with the Clintons today, he is not gone. End of discussion. Anything else is spin and / or an outright lie. Time has proved that with Hillary it is safest to first assume she is lying when she says anything.

I guess I have now joined the vast majority that find her dishonest and untrustworthy. I now even question what Bill and her owe to the people that have given them over $50 million for his speaking and the over $15 million (plus a few models for Bill) from Ron Burkle. I don't think Burkle is giving Bill that kind of money out of the kindness of his heart. What is the payback?
I didn't think anyone was saying Clinton lied about the WHOLE health care story.  Obviously, she didn't.  The woman DID exist, and she DID die.  However, it had nothing to do with her health care coverage, which was the point of Clinton's telling- "fixing health care".

I mean, of course she didn't make up the whole story.  Are we really going to start gauging Hillary by how much of the truth she's telling?  She WAS in Bosnia, she just wasn't being shot at!  Her health care story WAS partly true, it just had nothing to do with health insurance!  If that's the approach we're going to start taking, that speaks a ton about the sad state of affairs over at Camp Clinton.

"She told 80% of the truth!  Yay!"

What's that saying again?  A half-truth is still a lie?
Regarding Dan Abrams' interview last night with Phil Donahue. It looks like it's going to be a powerful movie.

I'm glad someone is finally taking on Congress for the role they played. They are the people I blame for what has transpired in Iraq. Imagine - an election was coming up in 2002 and it took too much courage to vote AGAINST the invasion.

When all they had to do was their due diligence and would have seen the timing was wrong. The inspectors obviously had much more work to do. It was all there if anyone bothered doing their homework.

Thank you Dan Abrams!!!! It was a spectacular interview.
The generals will say whatever Bush wants, as always. This war needs to stop, Bush and Cheney need to stop their crazy notions. They have sold America. All the people that Bush have used and will use for his administration have just helped him to finish the mess that he started. Oil, oil and more oil that is what he was interested in.
The liberals just cannot stand the fact that the US has been successful in turning the middle-east and Iraq from being run by vicious dictatorships to something that will be a workable democracy. Not only has the US and the west won militarily, but now they have won politically. The liberals entire reason for being though is that we have lost the war. The Democrats will pay for this attitude in November through, US voters hate losers.
Superdelegates: If you have remained neutral then I call you cowards and power mongers.  Let the will of the people decide this. Declare yourself--you cowards!
Chuck, NY - I have been asking the same question.  Forget the merits, or lack thereof, of the other candidates, I can not understand why anyone would support Senator Clinton.  Her personal negative is approaching that of President Bush.

As a Republican I admire McCain personally, and as a voter I am inspired by the fresh approach of Senator Obama.  (For all those whose knee jerk response is to refer to Rev Wright, please watch more of the video and also see Dennis Miller's take - "Jeremiah Dice Clay", a showman.  And also former USMC, respected enough to be invited to the White House.) With Senator Clinton, I am reminded of only the worst in politicians.
Oprah, now Phil Donahue, The View women, pretty soon Jerry Springer. You can see who are the heros of the left in this country. Daytime talk show idiots. Is it any wonder the Democrats can't even figure out how to vote?
The violence is down in Iraq?  Who are you kidding?

In Ohio, Clinton got some quick slams in including the Canada NAFTA cheap shot  Don't think the same dynamics will play this time.  OTOH in Ohio you didn't have the Governor running around saying that white voters there won't vote "aren't ready" to vote for a Black person.  So you could see other factors in play in Penn.  Obama is still the underdog there.  For some UNKNOWN reason, blue collar workers put their face in Clinton, but remember eight years ago they put their faith in Bush.  We get what we get.

Yeah, it does Clinton a world of good to keep the story on Penn ::snicker::  Yup, she has good judgment LOL.

IN terms of the hospital story, hmmm, Clinton herself must have thought she was guilty.  Did her campaign defend the story when it was originally challenged.  Uh, no.  They admitted it hadn't been vetted yet they made it (she made it) an integral part of her speech!

I do support Dodd's newborn screening bill.  It will save families much anguish and it also is smart in terms of  prevention dollars versus treatment dollars.

Have a nice day from the Nutmeg State (yes, its sunny today!)

Obama for President
Dean, Waterbury, CT,
You sound like a practiced Nader supporter.
Planning another republican victory in 2008 to mirror your success in 2000?
Superdelegates: If you have remained neutral then I call you cowards and power mongers.  Let the will of the people decide this. Declare yourself--you cowards!
**
Don't be Cowardice: Boy, insulting those people is sure the way to get their vote.  Of course, it fits that Barry's supporters would be as arrogant as he is.

Surge winner said: "...the US has been successful in turning the middle-east and Iraq from being run by vicious dictatorships to something that will be a workable democracy..."
With all due respect sir, you need to do a little more homework. Is Pakistan a "workable Democracy"? What the Bush administration has supported in the region are "compliant dictatorships". This is one example. I wish your fantasy that the "surge" has worked were true, but the facts don't support that. While Senator McCain was expining how things are back to normal in Iraq, his speech was interupted by breaking news that there had been mortar fire on the Green Zone, 3 more Americans killed.
Did Barry make it to the hearing?  He's been in the building so little just wondering if he could find the way to the hearing room.
Surge Winner,

I have to laugh at you Republicans who call us "liberals" when it's YOUR President (I didn't vote for the idiot so have never claimed him), YOUR administration and YOUR party that is spending BILLIONS of dollars on a war that never should have been waged in the first place! And you call US liberals? That's a laugh! In THAT case, I'm proud to be a liberal!
Patrick,Indianapolis
Have some more kool-aid.
Sorry to disappoint you but who says I'm voting for Hillary.I am listening to where they stand on issues.
Why didn't you mention Obama's connection to Wright,Rezko and Ayers? He'll be your buddy if you can help achieve his climb to power even throw grandma under the bus.He is like these slick tv preachers.

Ron,TX
According to court records she had a judgement against from one of the health care centers and that is why they wanted their money up front.
To Dean in Waterbury and all Clinton Supporters:The personal attacks should stop on both sides (and if you were honest with yourselves, the Clinton supporters have been just as viscious - so please, drop the innocent act).  Threatening to withhold support for Obama is childish and self-defeating (not to mention spiteful) -- it's not accomplishing a thing. Here's a thought:  maybe if you want to stop people from throwing the "kitchen sink" at your candidate - you should take a little of your own advice and stop throwing it yourselves!!Your outrage and self-righteousness is sickeningly phony!!Obama '08
I know people may not believe this but all the economic growth that Bill Clinton takes credit for happens because of the laws and strategy that was in place the last year of Bush Sr.  That is the same think that will happen if democrats should win in November.  Benanke has done a lot to turn the economy around but we will not see the result until late next year and whoever wins the election will take credit for it.  That is politics!!
kay,Ohio - Yes, the woman had a judgment against her.  However, the woman also HAD health insurance, and she was NOT making minimum wage, as Hillary had suggested.  She was also not turned down multiple times.  She just had to pay a 100 co-pay.  My emergency room co-pay is $75.  I'm sure your insurance has a co-pay as well.
Chuck, NY:'...I don’t think Hillary or Team Clinton has seen the football since the kickoff.  She is going from foolish, to embarrassing, to total flameout.  All the gaffes, moving the goal posts, and most prominently the lies have come home to haunt her.  Any yet half the Democrats in PA appear to be on the verge of voting for her....'

Chuck, why did Argentines vote for Eva Peron ?
Why did Phillipinos vote for Marcos ?
Why did Pakistanis vote for Benazir Bhutto ?

People are irrational
They want someone to fool them....
(see: Bill Clinton)
These are just superstitious, irrational people...
Why do people listen to Howard Stern ? Don Imus ?
Fat ass Limbaugh ?

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people....

Obama has to KEEP TALKING 'pocket book issues'
Obama has to be more 'concrete' in his plans
Obama has to show what he will do for factory workers...

Not just 'hope', but actual programs ......

Obama '08
Character counts
Integrity counts
My response is that we Clinton supporters are are treating Saint Barack the same way you would be treating Hillary had the shoe been on the other foot AND the nominating process had been fair.

MCCAIN in 2008.  And I voted for Gore in 2000.
So Dean, (from Waterbury) what are you going to do?  Vote for McCain and the war in Iraq for the next 100 years just because we make fun of Hilary's lies and deception?  If so, then you are the fool.
I'm watching Gen. Petraeus and Amb. Crocker right now and I have to say that I'm unbelievably disappointed.

John Warner really stuck it to them though: "I'm asking you if you think that America is any safer because of the war in Iraq?"

Or something like that.  Awesome.

http://thepajamapundit.com/
Presume much?  That's what I've gotten out of Democrats lately, and their legions of blind voters.  Their beliefs about Iraq, and the Bush Admin, and the Military all stem out of the presumption that republicans somehow knew they were wrong and made the wrong decision, as if "right" and "wrong" are clearly defined and do lay in the eye of the beholder.  Every person/group tries to make the best possible choice they can at any given time, based upon their situation.  Unfortunately, if the consequences turn out to be less than desireable, its then all too easy for others to point fingers.  There's a reason why they say hindsight is 20/20.  Its not fair to criticize others for past decisions based on the knowledge you know now, and that is really what the Democrates and their voters are doing to Bush, his Admin, the Military, the Republicans, and ultimately America.  Its amazing how spiteful, critical, and  demonizing Democrats are today.

Don't be get too comfy though.  The attention right now is all on the Democrats due to their primaries.  But come November, the silent majority will rise again, and put all of the loudmouth, know-it-all, blame-America-first liberals in their place.  The irony here is that the majority of these States that Obama and Hillary are fiercly battling each other in simply go to Republicans in November anyway.
Chuck, NY--

Agree with you on tone and content.

However, it is still galling to think of the vast influence peddling of Bill Clinton and the whole lack of transparency on the 'really big money'---Foundation and Library donors.

Also, I've not viewed the tax returns, but if 90% of the Clintons' 'charity' went to their own foundation, just exactly how much of a pittance did she contribute to her own church?  I hate to even pose the question and would not but for her sanctimonious ramblings about 'I'd leave the church'.  This type of examination shows that, basically, it is quite unfair to try to examine Obama's "American-ness" by scrutinizing his faith---unless we want to do so with all the candidates.  (And, I, for one, don't.)
I sounds to me as though the media has a baggage problem with regard to the Clinton Administration.  It doesn't do much for their credibility when they don't vet a story properly in their zeal to crowbar facts into a certain narrative.
So Clinton's 18 point lead in Pennsylvania is down to just 6 points. Disastrous news for the Clinton campaign. She needed to win this state by a large margin to have any realistic chance. It would be nothing short of embarrassing for her if she actualy loses this state. It seems that her only winning move is to withdraw from the race and let the Democrats focus on November.
Regarding Senator Clinton's version of the sniper fire in Bosnia...
She had her ONLY CHILD with her.  She had to know that she and Chelsea were absolutely safe, or she would have left Chelsea home.  So, she is either an outright liar, or the world's worst mother, either of which should call into question her character and judgement.
Sad thing is, though, I'll campaign for her and vote for her if she is the Democratic nominee because our country cannot afford four more years of Republican incompetence.
The 527's are needed by the Republicans to tell the truth about the Democrats. Lord knows the New York Times, NBC, CBS, CNN, and ABC would never have the time or inclination to do so.
Surge Winner wrote, "Not only has the US and the west won militarily, but now they have won politically."

American soldiers are being killed daily in Iraq. The war is costing us over $100 Billion a year; money we have to borrow. How is this a military victory?
Maliki was chased out of Basra and the cease fire agreement was brokered by the Iranians. A large majority of Iraqi citizens wants the US out of their country. How is this a political victory? We had to plead with the Turks to leave northern Iraq. How is this any kind of victory? Please define what you mean by victory.

Surge Winner wrote, "the US has been successful in turning the middle-east and Iraq from being run by vicious dictatorships to something that will be a workable democracy."

You say "will be" not "is." When will this workable democracy come about? Next month? Next year? Next decade? Next Century?
60 billion dollars - that's what I heard this morning from Senator Levin (D) at the hearings - that's how much money Iraq has from oil revenues.  So why are our American tax dollars paying for Iraq's reconstruction???
sotiredofignorance,

While i agree with your overall point, you do realize that 50 million bucks is a drop in the bucket of money we're spending on that place every month right?  It's like literally 1/100th of what we're spending monthly over there.
KAY, What you say is true:  "That is politics!!"  It's also true that the person "in charge" at the time gets credit or blame for what happens during their term in office.  It may be true that Bush Sr set this thing up for Clinton (I don't happen to believe that), but it happened during Clinton's term in office, so he gets credit.

What I find ironic is that at the end of Bush Sr's term it was "It's the economy, stupid"  After Clinton's term, there were millions in surplus, now after Bush's term, were right back to "It's the economy, stupid"

I think that's more than a coincidence
