Four more Obama PA ads

From NBC/NJ's Matthew Berger
PHILADELPHIA -- Obama unveiled four ads Tuesday to run in Pennsylvania, focusing both on his biography as well as his views on oil prices and healthcare.

Some of the ads have appeared in similar form in other states.

In “Quiet,” he talks about fuel efficiency and American dependence on foreign oil, in a town hall-type setting. “One Voice” features scenes from some of Obama’s rallies.

The other two ads focus more on Obama’s history and personality. In “Maya,” Obama’s sister, grandmother and wife speak on his behalf, while in “Mother,” he speaks of his mother’s bout with cancer and the need for healthcare reform. It’s the only ad where he speaks directly to the camera.

All of the ads are 30 seconds in length. No details on the cost of the ad buy were released.

I'm sure some whack job is going to comment about all the money Sen. Obama is spending on the ads, but this money was given to him by the American people who want him to get his message out, so don't even go there.

OBAMA, 2008!
I don't know which is sadder --

~ the folks who think that if their candidate isn't the nominee, then they'll vote for McCain or stay home.  How self defeating and spiteful is that?

~ or the swift boaters who will actually run the character assassination campaigns for the betterment of the rich (and the poor get poorer)

~ or the idiots who will believe that the swift boaters have their best interests at heart (not!)

~ or the idiots who think that voting against 'gay marriage' and against 'abortion rights' will put food on the table -- once again (not!).

The dumbing down of America is stunning.

Vote with your head, vote for the economy, vote for jobs.

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again.

He is going to need to outspend her 10 to 1 to even get close in Penn
A lot of this country voted based purely on name recognition, that's how Hillary won some of the early races.  But it didn't take voters long to fall in love with Obama and they proved it by contributing to his campaign in record numbers.  Communication is key to developing meaningful relationships, and this process cannot be done on the cheap with negative attacks, lies, and fear mongering.  So on behalf of your supporters, please take to the air and spread your wings and fly with the eagles.....Obama '08.
h Kevin...he is close to her already...only 6 pt difference separating them now.
yup he's going to spend 4 times what she's spending ad he's going to LOSE. LOL
Your voice can change the world...
Don't let us down Pennsylvania

Lets end it here. Clinton made a good try but its over.

President Obama is on his way.
THANK GOD!
Kevin? 10 to 1 to get close to HiLiary? You are in for the shock of your life.

Obama is the next POTUS.
Let's not forget, Mc Cain. Let's not undo what we have done so far during these primaries. Obama is so much more potent. I am glad to see that he is spending the money donated to him in the best possible way: Camapaigning; not like Clinton's frivolous hotels. What will she do with our tax money?
Those who moan because Obama outspent Hillary should note that he never spends his own money rather money contributed by ordinary Americans like you and I, so it doesn't matter how much he outspent her to win the nominee. After all, she is not getting enough contribution from her supporters because she is a failed project and no one wants to put money into nothing because it won’t stand.

UK OBSERVERS 4 OBAMA!!!!
carol  in nj  that is the smartest thing i have heard this year. you are right . people voting for the gop just because the are against gay marriage and abortion. people wake up and vote in the direction of your check book. not to continue the bush tax cuts for the rich. nothing is more pitiful than a poor person that is two paychecks from being homeless, yet voting gop.
Kevin: He is ALREADY close in PA, look at the polls. And it probably has as much to do with Hillary's lying campaign disintegrating as his ad spending.

For my fellow Obama fans; this is one reason it is good for the race to continue. The longer the race runs, the more time he has to make and run fresh ads like these that address the concerns of the voters in the individual states. He is preparing the ground in PA for the general. We can measure how these ads work and run them again in later states. And nothing Hillary can do is going to damage him nearly as much as the racial swift boating we are going to have to endure in the general. Let McCain make his gaffes and tell his lies, we have it all on videotape. We will answer any direct lies about Obama, and then just like with Hillary, all the other stuff will come out when America turns its attention to the race between Obama and McCain.

Look, we have a short attention span. If we can't blow McCain out of the water completely, we need to measure our attacks and keep the race close until about a month before the general, and then unload all we can on him so we can outrun him in the stretch to the finish line. We have to wait so the McCain negatives will still be relatively fresh in voter's minds when they get to the voting booth.

On the flip side, just like the Wright story, we need to get our worst negatives out and dealt with early enough that voters find them boring old news by the time November rolls around. So all this stuff that McCain is blabbing about and getting a pass by the press -- Don't worry. Axelrod is collecting those clips like chips and will play them later in the game.

Hilliary is finished even without the ads.  Even her supporters can smell the blood in the water.
Kevin,

I hate to break the news to you, but all the polls show Barack in single digits within 7 points. Sorry :(
>> ~ the folks who think that if their candidate isn't the nominee, then they'll vote for McCain or stay home.  How self defeating and spiteful is that?   <<

One point of clarification: the people who make those claims are REPUBLICANS.
Let's make it impossible for Billary to justify continuing to try to steal the nomination by using FEAR bombs and the Super-delegates.  RUN THOSE ADS OBAMA!!!  SPEND THE MONEY WE GAVE YOU!! WIN PA AND WATCH THE SUPER-DELEGATES RUN TO OBAMA!!!!  OUR GENERATION'S TIME IS NOW!!!!!!
Considering he started out behind by 30+ points and it's now at about 6 points, I'd say that's close and he hasn't even gotten close to your proposed 10-1 figure.

The envy that people have for him, because people in this country choose to contribute to him is comical. The people participating in the process is a good thing, in case you didn't know.
He's going to lose Pennsylvania because he's a phony, bogus candidate. Working class people will be voting for Hillary and I'm afraid there just aren't enough latte drinkers in that state to help him.

If not Hillary then McCain in '08
No surprise, Clinton will use the "he's spending triple than our campaign. How can we compete fairly?" tactic. Poor Hillary! Basically, Obama has run a stronger campaign and has been innovative in how he raises so much money. I was happily lured to give $20 more when I saw the opportunity to win dinner with him (so far, I've given about $100 and will likely give more.)Once, I accidentally forgot to check off the box that states I am not a PAC or lobbiest and my donation would not go through until I checked that-he truly wants to limit the influence of such groups. I'm sure Hillary will take money from any source at this point. I hope Obama's great message of hope gets through to Pennsylvania-a state in which Hillary should have the advantage. Republicans for Obama!!!!
A candidate's campaign should give us a peek into how he or she would manage an administration.  Based solely on the way these three have handled their campaigns, Obama is the clear winner. McCain went broke and made a come-back that was no thanks to him.  Hillary has been off track from the beginning, and it shows. If Donald Trump were deciding this, he'd have fired Hillary and John a long time ago.  Dreadful losers, both.
Hate to break it to you, but he's got the money to outspend Clinton 10 to 1 in PA.
I'm one of those people that is so tired of the same old politics. This year I've been glued to the TV
trying to fine a station that is true to the game.
Watching the general was so sad. It is the same
old thing! Let's get out of Iraq. Let's stop stand
up for the people that put you in congress and the
senate and stop playing games. I'm a 58 year old
grandma and my children and I are so happy to see
Obama who in our eyes is the closest to the TRUTH.
Don't hate on Obama for the money the American people have given him to compete.  The money he raised evens the playing field against the powerful Clinton machine and now it's all about the candidates.  Stop trying to make the money Obama is spending the issue because it's not.  The issue is that America is ready for a change in politics and OBAMA represents that!!
To Kevin she used to have a 30 point lead in the polls and it is now in the single digits. Sounds like he is doing good.
Kevin, that might be true, but all he needs is to get close.  She needs a big win to get close in Pledged Delegates or Popular Vote.  This is herr last big state with a big advantage.  If she can't make up a lot of ground in PA she is sunk.
I used to like Hillary until she decided to run for Prez.  Obama is hands down smarter, totally HONEST and truly running for the right reasons.  Billary will stop at nothing to win.  I don't understand how so many people are fooled by the deceitful Clinton machine. I wish my vote would count.  I have contacted all the Super Delegates in my state to urge them to support Barack.
GO OBAMA, 1000% for you!
Kevin,

Give it up. He's already closed the gap to 6 points when she HAD a sizeable lead. Might as well get use to the fact that he WILL be the democratic nominee. It's just a matter of time.
To kevin:

Uh the lead has shrunk from 18 points to 6.  She is losing her base.  She may lose PA.  If its not a blowout anyway, its game over.
He is going to need to outspend her 10 to 1 to even get close in Penn
-Kevin

Well he's outspent her 3 to 1 and it is close, far closer than projections two weeks ago foretold.

So he's clearly getting a bargain here!

But thanks for playing.  Your unwavering support for Obama has been noted and appreciated, Kevin.  Keep up the good work.
The very people who would have mocked Barack for being a pauper, had he not recieved the level of financial support he has; are nashing their teeth because his campaign is rich.
I urge all Obama supporters to please be respectful of Hillary and her supporters. Whatever you may think of her, please remember we're really on the same side. Barack will be the democratic nominee  - it's just a matter of time. Don't make his job harder than it needs to be once he nails down the nomination. Please don't use words that Barack wouldn't use.
OBAMA 08
It's looking more like 2 or 3 to one--latest polls show Clinton's lead is slipping, slipping, slipping. Her campaign is starting to say things like, "We'll win, but we're being outspent.  Our lead will likely be around 5-9%..." This campaign has shown that the more face time Obama gets, the better he does at the polls.  The six week break between primaries benefits him the most and the fact that he has more cash on hand only improves his situation.  The ads will only help.

This should all be over in about 8 weeks (let's hope) so the Democrats can pull it together and win this time.
YES WE CAN, I've never given to a campaign before senator Obama.  I'm older and ready for a change, If money will help get him elected it's on!!!!!
I'd have to agree. If my memory serves me correctly, Barack outraised Hillary two to one in March. Whenever the campaign asks for a donation, it is only $25 or whatever one can muster. With over one million unique donors and a steady income stream like that, neither Hillary or McCain can compete. This fundraising effort will continue into the General, and McCain will be crushed.
Spend that money Obama!  We gave it to you and we'll give you more!  Obama has proven his ability to win against the candidate that everyone said was the supposed winner just 6 months ago.  Never doubt the power of the people to organize!  Who needs lobbyists-oh yeah -YOU DO HILARY!
I assume he is trying to catch up... however it is Himself who is making remarks that people hear and not giving more appropriate answers:
I feel that he doesn't take time to write down speech thoughts, he just goes about it on the fly; which will eventually cost him...
Again we are being led down the nonsence road. I saw a poll Hillary was 20% ahead. That is closer I dare say. We are given numbers to discourage and dampen the spirit of Hillary supporters. Trying to keep her people from voteing thinking no sence to it.She needs every vote its true. We want a large win in Pa. Everywhere I see she will have it but cannt take it for granted. Obamas people want us to sit home and say she is done. Well she still stands so we do too. Vote Hillary. Bring it in for us Pa. by gum you can do it!!!!!Shes not giveing up we wont either.
I don't care if Obama outspents Hillary by 10 to 1, as long as the people of PA. wake-up and help us get rid of the Clintons once and for all.
He even copies her ads. Hahahahahah. She put her childhood pic and life he runs oh look I was a kid. Not in this country but so what. Has that been checked enough it was usa he was born? I was thinking of going for him but seeing him on tv so much forget it. If someone has to try and buy votes better look somewhere else. Some of those ads were lies too. We have factcheck.org even in Pa. Hahahahaha
From 30% lead to 6% lead in just 6 weeks. That is a drop of 5% per week. At that rate in two weeks her lead will be -5%. With that negative lead decrease, how will she revive her compaign?!!! Why not drop now?
Win at any cost... may be she is just compainging to steal votes from Obama in teh General Elections. She actually working for GOP instead of for teh Dems.
Why is not Bill telling her now to drop out and start some good work for the Dems? If she cannot be the president now, she still has future in the Dems' win. May be the Secretary of State!!! is that a bad thing?
These advertisements speak to what Obama is trying to address.  There are concerns over the amount of oil we use, and how much of it is from overseas.  Hybrid cars and other energy efficiency improvements (solar panels on buildings as an example) are just the start.

As to the other advertisements, it is interesting to hear other people speak about him personally; that does have some (little) relevance as to who he is and where he comes from.
hey Obamabots. A kdka poll shows her ahead by 20.Man this guy cant even buy a win. He can drag out his momma and his poppa and his granma from under the bus where he threw her and put them all in an add and he still aint gonna win.Pray for St. Barack you wingnuts hes gonna need it.
Hillary would have more money to spend on the campaign if she would have the Colombians and other special interest groups directly buy commercials instead of giving the money (for favors to be granted?) directly to the Clintons in the form of speaking fees. Right there is $1,100,000 - $800,000 for Bill's fees and $300,000 for Penn's fees. We aren't even taking into account the $40,000 per month paid to Wolfie. That would be a lot of commercials.

And, we are only looking at the Colombian FTA issue. What about all of the other issues the Clintons are involved in? Take health care, for instance. I'm sure they are collecting sizable amounts from the big insurers. Why not redirect some of that money?
