Utah superdelegate for Obama

We mentioned in First Thoughts that Clinton will pick up a Pennsylvania superdelegate tonight when she speaks at the Allegheny County J-J Dinner. The Obama campaign then released a new superdelegate of their own, Utah Democratic Party Chair Wayne Holland. Holland had been thought to be leaning Obama, but had not said so publicly.

This brings the superdelegate count to Clinton 257, Obama 226. In the overall count, Obama leads by 133 (1,642 to 1,509). He has a 164 pledged-delegate lead (1,416 to 1,252).

That's some narrowing on SD's huh? Remember way back when when her lead was over a hundred superDs. I heard that these were from the Bill Clinton era (endorsing her early when she was the foregone conclusion). Talk about Obama not being able to seal the deal, what about Hillary and the superDs!

As an Obama supporter, I say the poll in NY means nothing. McCain at this point in the game is getting a free ride with the press. He continues to confuse the Sunnis and Shiites over and over again, but barely gets a mention. He threatens to bomb Iran, but barely gets a mention today. He makes jokes about 'bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran' and gets very little coverage.

Once Senator Obama is finally declared the Democratic Nominee, then you will see better press coverage concerning all of McCain's misquotes, missteps and outright lunatic behavior. The polls will then start to shift towards Obama.

I'll respond, Pat. First, I'm shocked that in that same poll, both candidates head-to-head against McCain are within the margin of error. The Senator from New York doesn't have a lead in New York against the Senator from Arizona? Wow. That's the news.

Second, relax ... it's only April. As long as our candidate doesn't have high negative ratings (one of our candidates doesn't) we'll be fine in November.

I'm leaning toward Obama, but I make nothing of any polls concerning general election matchups. It's too early to tell how things will shake out. Frankly, I think the majority of Americans want to reduce the number of wars we're fighting so that money can be spent at home. Therefore, I can't see a majority of Americans voting for McWar, aka old man McCain.

Barack Hussein Obama is unelectable.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is electable.

Hillary has already proven she can win big in the big electoral rich states such as Ohio, where Obama outspent Hillary 4 to 1 yet he won only 5 out of 88 counties,those with large black voter turnout. If you cannot win Ohio, you cannot win the Presidency. Today, in Ohio, Hillary beats McCain by 10 points, while Obama ties or loses to McCain in Ohio. Same story in state after state, Michigan, Florida, New York, Penn. etc.

What would ML King, who fought for voter rights think of Obama's attempts to disenfranchise voters in Florida and Michigan? The Democratic nominee will not be legitimate if they don't count these two states that Dems must win in November.

The superdelegates need to do the right thing for the party and nominate Hillary Rodham Clinton. If they foolishly nominate Obama,it will drag the entire ticket down and result in a crushing defeat for the Dems in November. Obama does not belong on the ticket at all, Hillary needs to choose a white male with strong national security credentials for the most unbeatable ticket.

Check out the Obama scandals on Antoin Rezko, Crown, Exelon, Odinga, Emil Jones, "pastors" Wright, Moss and Meeks, and of course, Auchi, really scary stuff. Any ONE of these scandals is enough to make Obama unelectable, combined they are lethal to his campaign. Ask Obama's campaign manager David Axelrod about Auchi. If we had any investigative journalists anymore they should be reporting on these very serious scandals of Obama.

Why is the corporate owned media relentlessly promoting Obama 24/7? They want him to be the nominee because they know he's unelectable.

Nope, not at all Pat. And Pat, if we ran the election based on polls 6 months out, Hillary Clinton would have had the nomination wrapped up in January. Seems as though something got off track. McBush can't win in the fall. Whoever is the Dem nominee is going to win, even though a lot of Obama supporters would stay home because they would have a tough time choosing between someone who lies about her resume and a man completely out of touch with the reality of Iraq.

Chuck, it seems a lot of superdelegates are fleeing from Hillary because she disparaged their states and called them states that don't count. In other words, any Obama won state does not count, but Hillary won states do. This speaks pure self-centeredness that superdelegates cannot overlook.

If you post about "recent polls" here, cite them. Everyone knows how much trash is out here. So if you want to be found credible, make you case - don't just through numbers you're not even quoting out.

And anyone who truely believes that McCain could win a contest v. any dem is out of their mind. As is any dem that would vote for McCain if either dem loses the nomination. Seriously - if there is such a thing as political ideology then a democrat couldn't possible in good faith vote republican - even McCain.

No Pat Huntington, I don't think it means he will win tat state. The superdelegate backing him has more to do with being disenchanted by Hillary's bashing of red states and states that Obama won. Pat - I would say that because Sen Obama is not well known here -- I'm from upstate NY - people are not sure about him yet. But I can also tell you, just from talking and listening to friends and acquaintances, that there is tremendous interest in him - he has a lot of respect from people in this area -- which by the way, is a extremely conservative, rural area. I think that the more people hear from him and about him -- the more support he will get.

Just travelling around this area -- I'm starting to see Obama signs sprout up on people's front lawns. I have yet to see 1 sign in support for Hillary OR John McCain. Believe me, I am pleasantly surprised to see this.

So, I wouldn't be too sure Pat that Sen Obama would lose in NY -- I wouldn't be too sure of that at all.

So long as Hillary is in the race, the State of New York will lean toward McCain against Obama. Don't think for a minute that if Hillary bows out gracefully (which may not happen) and gets behind Obama that NY will go to McCain. That is equivalent to saying that Utah will turn blue for Obama.

No more hate. Hillary is a good candidate whose baggage is simply too heavy to carry her to the White House at this time. No mystery there as it was known long before she began to run that the GOP and the press could eat her alive based on her past. Her trustworthiness was called into question and this is a serious problem for her campaign as she has frequently been caught in more than minor untruths or misstatements. Stack onto that a poorly run campaign and her leadership is called into question. Second major strike. The public will not support a candidate they don't trust and has demonstrated poor leadership skills. She did it to herself.

I had hope for her in the beginning, but she really isn't the right one to be the first woman President. It is very likely to happen soon, but not for her. There are and will be better choices.

As a long-since converted Obama supporter, I thank Hillary Clinton for getting the worst issues facing Obama done and gone before the general election. If the GOP is seen as beating a dead horse over and over again not only will it make the GOP look stupid, it will convince more independents that Obama is the way to go.

After the years we've spent with Bushes "misstatements" on the war, economy, etc., it doesn't work well for Hillary to have a "misstatement" problem in addition to her very low trusted rating. Wow! I asked a simple question based on something I read in the newspaper today, and I get a lot of nasty responses. I simply wanted to know what Obama supporters had to say about that poll. I wasn't saying I believed in it. I can't fathom NY going to McCain either. I was just curious as to what the Obama camp's response was. But, as usual, I got snippy sarcastic responses. I'd say that just like his campaign, the Obama camp KNOWS what it'll take to get to the White House and it WON'T be the traditional path that most people take. Obama is different, therefore his path to the White House will also be different. Don't under-estimate the Junior Senator from Illinois......that was (one of) Hillary's mistakes (she has too many to mention here).
