Bill: Don't focus on distractions

Posted: Friday, April 11, 2008 5:51 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
GREENCASTLE, IN -- Without mentioning the controversy over his statements on Bosnia yesterday, Bill Clinton told supporters here that the country should not “waste our energy in a lot of distractions,” and focus instead on which candidate could make the best future for the country.

“I get tickled that so many things in these presidential elections, people make mountains out of molehills, and sometimes even worse -- make molehills out of mountains,” he said at South Putnam Central Elementary School.

He then referred, as he did yesterday, to Obama’s campaign ad about not taking money from oil companies, again reminding the crowd that no candidate has done so. “It’s sorta like saying, ‘I want you to vote for me cause I never robbed a bank,’” he said, repeating a line from last night. He then compared it to what he felt was a better ad that his wife’s campaign is running in the state, which features home-state Sen. Evan Bayh.

“We should hope that after all we’ve been through the last seven years, the last thing we need is to waste our energy in a lot of distractions and take our eye off the ball,” he said after praising both Democratic candidates. “We need to talk about not the history these candidates are making, and not all the things that occupy the little back and forth, but who is gonna to make the best future for America. That is all that matters.”

The former president did not make any reference to either his comments on Bosnia, or also to the fire at his wife's local campaign office in Terre Haute. After the event, Clinton headed to North Carolina for a day and a half of campaign events there.

If Bill does not want a lot of distraction than he should remove himself from the campaign trail.

My wife was a Hillary supportor until two things happened:

1) Hillary said that herself and McCain were tested implying that Obama was not and...

2) It was obvious that Hillary could not control Bill.

With the lies, the Penn deal, the $800,000 check from Columbia and Bill spouting off at the mouth it just reminds us all of the things we did NOT like about the '90s.

It is time to move past the Clintons and get on with a new generation of leadership.

The latest Pennsylvania general election numbers suggest Democrats might be getting a boost out of the increased exposure of the primary; also, two new primary surveys show the race tightening. Full roundup here: http://www.campaigndiaries.com/2008/04/are-dems-getting-boost-in-pennsylvanias.html
Bill Clinton is fast turning into a clown.
BILL CLINTON CANNOT GET HIS LIES STRAIGHT ---  HE IS STEPPING ALL OVER HILLARY'S LIES.
------------------------------------------------------
THE FACTS:

Bill Clinton has many of the facts wrong.
.
His wife didn't make the sniper fire claim "one time late at night when she was exhausted." She actually told the story several times, including during prepared remarks on foreign policy delivered the morning of March 17.

It's also not true that she "immediately apologized for it." Clinton has never apologized for the comments and only acknowledged that she "misspoke" a week after the March 17 speech when video of her peaceful tarmac reception emerged.

It's also not true that she was the "first first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to go into a combat zone" - a claim that Hillary Clinton has also made when talking about the trip. Pat Nixon traveled to Saigon during the Vietnam war and Barbara Bush went to Saudi Arabia two months before the launching of Desert Storm.
---------------------------------------------------
HILLARY 'TWO-FER' IS A COMPULSIVE LIAR
Poor thing, he is getting up there in age.

8 years of Clinton with ended up with 8 years of Bush.

Under Clinton we lost control of BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS******BOTH HOUSEES.
I agree with Bill - we should NOT focus on distractions...let's see now if he can practice what he is preaching.
Democrats under Clinton, based on our latest figures:

- GOP seats gained in House since Clinton became president: 48
- GOP seats gained in Senate since Clinton became president: 8
- GOP governorships gained since Clinton became president: 11
- GOP state legislative seats gained since Clinton became president: 1,254
as of 1998
- State legislatures taken over by GOP since Clinton became president: 9
- Democrat officeholders who have become Republicans since Clinton became
president: 439 as of 1998
- Republican officeholders who have become
Ohh Bubba ... why wont you just queitly gp away.
You are disintegrating  in front of our eyes !
Please!!!! Enough Already!
You had better talk to your wife if you want the distractions to stop!!!
Pay no attention to the Oil Industry PAC money Hillary is taking
Let's not focus on the money I'm getting from Columbia

No, no she's my 'protege'
Talk about distractions.  Its  Obama's fault for the misspeaks of his wife.  Obama has shown restraint in not bringing the issue up. Maybe its Bill who is frustrated that his earnings may be an albatrosse on his wife's chances for election and wanted to create the distraction. IT was not an Obama strategist who winked and nodded to the Columbians while his candidate was against the deal.

We do not owe the Clinton's anything.  He made millions for his public service.  We need to move on beyond the 1990's to a bridge to the future not the past.
Telling the truth is not a distraction. When we select a leader, it is not a popularity contest like in high school.  Voters with a college education favor Obama over Hillary by 62% to 38%.  Those with graduate degrees is even a higher percentage.  Why? Because we read and analyze.  Because we work with well educated people who are good leaders themselves.  Because we can see through the daily nonsense that comes from the Clinton/Begala/Carville hate machine. Because we have realized since the Clinton Impeachment that the Clintons are physically unable to tell the truth.
The race is over Bill.  Use the Slate Delegate Calculator and you will see that even if Obama loses every one of the next 10 primaries by 20% points, he still will have 50 more delegates than Hillary.  He will win NC, Oregon, Montana and SD.  Indiana will tie.  That means Hillary must win PA, WV, KY and PR by 90% margins to pull ahead AND then still take 2/3rds of the remaining super-delegates.
For once, Bill is making sense,

~ Don't be one of the voters who think that if their candidate isn't the nominee, then they'll vote for McCain or stay home.  How self defeating and spiteful is that?

~ Don't be one of the swift boaters who will actually run the character assassination campaigns for the betterment of the rich (and the poor get poorer)

~ Don't be one of the voters who will believe that the swift boaters have their best interests at heart (not!)

~Don't be one of the voters who think that voting against 'gay marriage' and against 'abortion rights' will put food on the table -- once again (not!).

Vote with your head, vote for the economy, vote for jobs.

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again.
Do I believe that Bill Clinton is racist?

NO.

Do I believe that he is willing to do anything to get his wife elected--even if it means stomping on the Black community (a community that has remained fiercely loyal to him) by using words to play on ignorant people's stereotypes/fears of the Black community?

ABSOLUTELY.

Earlier today, I thought that President Clinton should've been afforded a pass for last night's slip-up w/ regard to the "vote for me because I've never stolen a car."

Now, however, I believe that he knew exactly what he was saying/doing both times he spoke. Beyond being well educated, I believe that he is one of the greatest politicians that America has ever seen. He should be held to a higher standard than the average American or politician. This is shameful.
Has America suffered enough from a void of leadership?

Is it time for leadership instead of secretive and cynical directorship and dictatorship?

Looking backward or looking forward, Barack Obama exhibits more leadership than anyone on the horizon.

Could this be the year that the high road becomes the choice of preference in American politics.
give it a rest!!!! he's already said he would if the repukes agreed to a deal......all these minor things you(msm) keep bombarding us with the hopes that we will run from obama is not gonna work!!!! face it david gregory our next president will be a black man and you and pat buchanan can prepare yourselves for the brown noseing you are sure to be doing with the new POTUS
so now the bosnia flap is a molehill not a mountain. If Bill really believed that, he wouldn't spend so much time trying to reframe "herstory". LOL!  We've got our eyes on you Bill Clinton.  And most of us see and hear you and Hillary quite clearly.
It's becoming more and more evident that Bill did inhale.
Where's the media when Obama makes misstatements?

Yeah come on news media, please do not focus on things that make Sen. Clinton look bad. Not.
Right Bill, don't listen to distractions? Then I guess that means your audience dries up.
Without so many distraction, the country might realize how everything your wife says is a fabrication. Might want to encourage more distractions billy.
Every time Hillary or Bill say anything all the news media jumps on both of them like they don't do to either McCain or Obama.  I just wonder if there are any real journalists out there anymore. Walter Cronkite and David Brinkley would throw up over the National Enquirer mentality by NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox.  I used to love to watch the evening news and now its just like reading the rags in the Supermarket checkout line.
Can you imagine the chaos the Clintons will bring to the White House? They are exhausting! I'm ready for this primary season to be over...
Bill just looks like he can't stand not being the center of attention.

Also, he is plainly angry that his wife is not just being given the nomination because she has paid her dues, and, heck, she is Bill Clinton's wife.

With each passing day, Bill reminds us of what was wrong with the 90's and why we need to have a candidate that can represent a break from the ways of the past.  $52+ million in speaking fees, including at least $800,000 from pro-Colombia trade pact backers, means that the Clintons owe somebody.  Also, why won't they release their donors to the Clinton Foundation and Library.  Clearly, if they regain the White House, their first thoughts will not be about the "little guy or gal."  Remember when Hillary loaned her campaign $5,000,000.  We'll given that they filed jointly this money came just as much from pro-Uribe/Colombia folks as it did from her book sales.  She cannot have the luxury of separating income sources when she wants to.  She wants to always have it both ways but the voters are going to be too smart to fall for this again and again.  What was it that George Bush said, "You can fool me once, but....well, uh....that fooling stuff won't....uh..."

p.s. more doublespeak:  yeah, they gave $10 million to charity.  The charity was the Clinton Foundation.  Come on people.  Basta ya!
I use to think bill clinton was a smart feller, now i'm thinking he's a fart smeller. and we knows hillary smells.
I could be wrong, but isn't Obama saying not that he doesn't take money from oil companies, but that he doesn't take money from oil lobbyists and PAC's? (Which both Clinton and McCain do.)
