Obama PA sportsmen push back

Posted: Sunday, April 13, 2008 7:05 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Cherelle Kantey
In this afternoon’s conference call sponsored by the Pennsylvania Sportsmen and Sportswomen for Obama, small-town politicians said the latest attacks from the Clinton campaign are shameless, aimed at creating divisions in their communities.

“Trying to turn small-town Pennsylvanians against each other for political gain is shameless,” said Mayor John Fetterman of Braddock, Pa. Fetterman blasted the New York senator for trying to win votes by patronizing gun owners, a move he said shows a willingness to win at all costs.

“I think it's really discouraging and tacky to see Hillary Clinton pandering as if she's a gun owner,” said Fetterman. “I think it demonstrates and represents willingness to say anything and everything to get elected.”

Rep. Dan Surra (D-PA) said he shares the frustration of the constituents he represents.

“I represent the people that Barack Obama was talking about, that people who have lost their jobs,” Surra said. "I think he understands, there is a frustration out there.”

The Obama campaign conceded that the remarks weren’t properly worded, but their message was correct.

“I think Obama was clear that he could have chosen words better, but the case he was making was right,” said Leslie Miller, Pennsylvania communications director for the Obama campaign. “Washington has left working people behind and the attacks that have come from Sens. Clinton and McCain are not going to change Barack Obama's record."

At the conclusion of the call, the sportsmen made it clear that they intend to support Obama, who they say has genuine interest in the concerns of small-town communities.

“Barack Obama has reached out to sportsmen; he’s reached out to blue-collar people,” Surra said. “And I think the reason it’s being blown up like it is, because they don’t want to talk about who can really bring the change that we need.”

I hope that the Clinton campaign is able to pay for the "I'm not Bitter" bumper stickers.  Anyway, let's compare a complete non-truth "Needed to duck sniper fire" made multi times compared to a statement that could have been phased better but was meant to reflect some vey real frustrations of a large percentage that are not happy.  In the scheme of things, what is worse?????
I, finally, get the difference between "misspeaking" and lying...
Clinton goes "pimpin" for the "Joe 6-Pack" vote.  She supported stricter gun control in the 1990's, backed NAFTA, her campaign staff is full of Columbian free trade supporters, Chinese group helping to supress the monks in Tibet was a big contributor to Mr. Bill's foundation.  It goes on and on and on.

For those sheep who continue to support her, I ask when enough is enough?  We've had one "liar" in the White House in the 1990's do we need another one who just happens to have aided and abetted the first one?

McCain or Obama will steer the country straight and even when disagreeing we'll at least know were getting the truth.
Wake-up America!!!!!   Don't turn this election into a word game.  Keep our focus on what is best for the country!!!!  H.C. camp continues to play on our intelligences with this word game mess.  Enough is enough!!!!
Hillary is shameless...she knows very well that what Obama said was true.  As one person stated, bitter, angry, frustrated...it is all the same...maybe Obama should have said angry or frustrated...he used the wrong word.  In the meantime I think Hillary is making much to do about nothing on purpose...she now realizes that she can't possibly be the nominee...so she is trying to make sure that Obama does not win the election...she feels she can come back in four years...but she doesn't want to wait 8 years when she will be close to 70 years old.  She won't remember a thing then...as Bill said...she can barley remember now because she is 60 years old.  On that same note...I think Bill Clinton is purposely trying to blow the election for Hillary...he doesn't want to have to give up the money he is making lobbying for those issues that she "claims" she is against...even though she is benefiting from the large sums of money that her husband is raking in.  Bill is trying to lose this election for Hillary and Hillary is trying to make sure that Obama, if the nominee for the Dems, does not win the General Election.
I was at the Obama town hall meeting on friday night in Terre Haute and it was won of the best moments of my adult life then I get home only to find out that McCain and the repubclintons were already turning things that where said into negative fodder, to spread all over the news like wildfire. I think as Obama supporters we should all make a 2 min video to put on youtube explaining to the American people why we ,in fact, are bitter because at least for me, those words rang true. I am not a bitter person but I am very bitter at the lies that I get from my government. Mr.Obama is the only one that understands how bad the state of our great nation really is and we should all let the rest of the world know how we feel.
Its a pitty the clintons have not realise the reason they are lossing this primary.they lossing out, becuse of the kind of camphian they run.either i have it or no one does.too bad.
All you Hillary supporters:
Why do you all have to tear people down in order to raise your candidate up?? Thats the problem with typical politics in this country. And it's getting worse!! It used to be between the parties. Now the Clintons (and all her supprters) do the exact same thing to memebers of their own party. There have been out right lies HRC has made that Obama has said nothing about. (Bosnia,Bill's $800,000 from Columbia, MArk Penn)Yet any little thing she jumps on, no matter if it is true or not. I think, no hope everyone see's that political depsreration is motivation behind HRC comments.
Obama actually spoke the truth and like we all learned growing up, the truth hurts. The government does not care about about the middle class. It hasn't for a long time and the Clinton's are part of that time.Yea I am bitter, and I make what is considered a good living, yet just can't seem to get ahead. I do not have offshore accounts. I do not get tax breaks.I as a small business owner, can't ship my plant oversea's. We are all free to back whomever we like, but to say he is elitist is ridiculous. And even moreso coming from a candidate who grew up wealth and priveledged, and one whose owns more homes than 99% of the people in country. The Clintons made over 100 mil the last 8 years. Do you think they worry about their daughters education? Do they think about the price of gas when filling up the limos? What about the McCains? Obama just finished paying off student loans, something I can relate to and I am sure many of you can. GRew up with grandparents, not mom and dad. Got into Harvard (do any of you know how hard it is to get into Harvard on merit alone? I tried,it didn't work)Is it not a bit hypocritical calling Obama an elitist?
anyone that says they will vote for Mcshame before Obama was not going to vote for him in the first place and just don't care that there will be a lot more of our soldiers die because of their vote. Fellow democrats Hillary cannot win...deal with it.
Obama is so right. The talking heads on t-v are out of touch with what the peoples are voteing for this time.A Washington that put the people first.we are bitter in America. The peoples in Washington have turned their backs on us for over 20 years. We need change now.
Thank you Hillary Clinton for reducing this election to the absurd.

With the world and the country both in dire need, the Clintons drag the country back to politics as usual . . . the politics of hate

I pray that America wakes up before it's too late
Aside from the clumsy way  he presented the message I a totally in agreement with his comments. Thank God for the Sprtsmenand womenof Pennsylvania, I love you all. I would also like Hillary, Mc Cain and the MEDIA to STOP SPEAKING FOR US AND PENNSYLVANIA. They are putting our feelings into their own words.I am so stressed and angry and yes bitter because whenever I call support centers for my credit cards, mortgage company, computer I get a person I can hardly understand. I am speaking to them from another country, It is one thing for the manufacturing jobs to go to foriegn countries but it's another for the technical support jobs to be outsourced. This doubles our jobless rates and no one is doing anything about it. As a matter of fact the BILL CLINTON is the source of this problem and he is still dabbling involved. The Clinton camp is riddled with Free Trade connections ( Penn) who is still a part of hr campaign.
since when did hillary become a gun toting, bible pounding redneck? uh hello those kind of people werent voting democrat anyway, they still buy into the fear and war rhetoric from the right
Let's face it, if you read comments like the ones written here you can see that a lot of voters are stupid. Hillary Clinton has appealed mostly to the lower educational and socio-economic blocks because they are duped by her incessant attacks. She has had no success in trying to sell her bogus experience so sahe has to knock down Obama to have any chance at all. And a lot of folks are stupid enough to believe her. She will say and do anything to get votes, including pandering to the lowest common denominator. She is a cynical and vicious politician, who doesn't mind destroying everything in her path to get elected. Anmd when the Republicans win in November because Clinton has trashed Obama unmercifully, she will of course find another story to deny her involvement. Any one who votes for her deserves the poor government they will get.
How dare Hillary call Obama Elitist.  They're the ones with the 110 million. Let's face it, Obama told the truth.  The only word he used wrong was "bitter." I'm not bitter - I'm angry! Angry I have to listen to the Clintons over and over with all their ELITIST BS. GO OBAMA!!!
Without Barack Obama solving the grass root needs of many communities and telling it like it is, we can learn together to help one another..Knowing and understanding is the start of something good....

What kind of fool rushes in without really knowing the situation first...??

Grass roots is on the come back!!!!
True Democratic Ideals

GO OBAMA!!!!
Hopefully voters will see this for what it is.  Clinton is trying to us this with superdelegates as well?  If they are that gullable, it's time to find a new party!!
Well, it gladdens my heart to hear and read that people can be objective in what they hear rather than jump to conclusions or are motivated by the media or some one elses opinion.  Thank God for thinking Americans that are not blinded by the retoric that and ficade that HRC is putting out there.  You don't have to apologize for speaking the truth Obama, but for those who are shallow in their way of thinking my need put them in elemtary terms for them to understand what it is you're saying.
Shame?
Oh BO shame on YOU! Your words are the words that bring shame! Shame on you and Wright and Michelle. Shame on your hate for America and shame on your disrespect for your grandmother. Your BITTER pill is yours to swallow.
It is your words that count, Hillary did not say them.
WORDS MATTER! The word is Obama is toast!
IT IS REALLY QUITE CLEAR WHAT OBAMA SAID. WHY IS MEEKA AND ANDREA TRYING TO PUT THE SPIN ON REMARKS THAT WERE OBVIOUSLY NOT THOSE OF AN ELITIST, BUT THOSE OF SOMEONE WHO HAS BOASTED ABOUT HIS ABILITY WITH WORDS? WHEN OBAMA SAID "WORDS, JUST WORDS" AMERICA WAS LISTENING. HILLARY WAS SIMPLY POINTING OUT THAT OBAMA KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT, BUT THOSE OF US WHO CAN SPELL NEED NO DEFINITIONS FROM HILLARY...OR ANDREA...OR MEEKA... (SHE LOVES TO HEAR HERSELF TALK DOESN'T SHE?]
I do not resent being called "bitter" at all; because I am bitter and I know it!

I DO however being called "Stupid" by being expected to buy-in to these latest, pointless, well off the mark, and extremely transparent attacks aimed at making me feel "bitter" toward someone who was clearly addressing those issues I am most bitter about to a group of folks already firmly committed to addressing these issues!

Sen. Clinton does need to talk about the voters; but we do not need her to explain to us or anyone else how she "thinks" what was said by her opponent will make us feel. We are just as capable of doing that as she could ever hope to be. We have been proving this over and over again throughout the course of this primary campaign. If she would just look at the primary, caucus, and polling results to date, she could definitely get a "clue".
Sen. Clinton knows understand what Obama was talking about, and Iam really tired of her spinning words like people don't understand. I was really happy to see a woman running for the highest job in the land but after watching her for a long time. I don't think I will vote comes November. She has proven to be a TYPICAL POLITICAN.
Finally PA Voters see the truth about the Clintons.
