Another super, plus The Boss

Posted: Wednesday, April 16, 2008 10:17 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Obama picked up another superdelegate, Rep. Andre Carson, further narrowing the gap with Clinton. The superdelegate count now stands at Clinton 259, Obama 232. In the overall count, Obama leads by 137 (1,648-1,511). He has a 164 pledged-delegate lead (1,416-1,252).

Carson, one of two Muslim members of Congress (both backing Obama), won a special election to replace his late grandmother Julia Carson.

And... while he's not a superdelegate, Obama also got the backing of The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. Maybe it'll help on the "Streets of Philadelphia." (We just can't help ourselves.)

NBC's Abby Livingston adds that Clinton has been playing Springsteen's "The Rising." Wonder if that will end soon. Remember that John Mellencamp asked McCain to stop using his songs at rallies since he was backing Edwards and is sympathetic to Democratic causes.

I saw the Boss' endorsement yesterday.  Didn't he do Streets of Philadelphia in the movie Philadelphia (if my memory is correct)...haunting song though.  WOOT...he's a singer for all of us, huh.  Much less elitist than Sir Elton  (sorry, couldn't help myself).

Yay for more superdelegates.  TY Mr. Carter (I know he faces a tough election).  Yes we can!
Sorry, just noticed you referenced Streets of Philly...was reading too fast LOL.

Go Obama!
All politicians can use "Born to Run" as a theme.
I urge voters to read Mr Sprinstien's well stated endorsement.  It is as powerful of a case for Obama
If any of you EVEN use a *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* regarding the two Muslim members of Congress backing Obama, then you're racist scum. Period. I say congratulations Obama.

And don't try to come back with some smart-a[hem] remark about "well, you said it first"... I just make it a job to know my enemy (disrespectful, deluded little f[artknocker]s like you people) and what (s)he might say. I know this is a negative post, but recently, I've been trying to fight fire with fire (for all the good it'll do).
Oh no here we go. Who is going to start bashing Obama because these folks are Muslim? Just a note.  For a country that fought to have religious freedom I'd say it's pretty sad that there are only two Muslim members in Congress. But that’s another story.

Hopefully people see pass the fact that this person is Muslim and is back Senator Obama.  I love what Chris Matthews said on the Colbert Report a couple nights ago.  He (Matthews) was talking about his childhood aspirations of always wanting to be a Senator.  But what really got me was him saying, "There's a different between being a celebrity and really helping people and making a change in their lives."  I apologize for the misquote, but this supports my argument.  Many persons in Congress genuinely want to help the American people.  And I find that amazing.  So hopefully people see past the fact that this person is Muslim and back Barack and look at him as a person that represents you fellow Americans in congress and fights for the American people.
The Boss? Does this mean Obama was Born to Run?

And as for Adam Raised a McCain, I guess we have to ask ourselves: War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing.
BHO = Dave Matthews, now the Boss
HRC = Elton John

Surely she can see the handwriting on the wall now...
The steady flow of good news for Barack, after a storm is becoming a wonderful pattern. He is resilient. His supporters are resolved. We are wise, and wide awake.

(With a beat)...GOBAMA, GOBAMA, GOBAMA
CHUCK,
I have to say you are better than this.  Why do you want this man Obama to win so badly?  He lied about being at a 2004 party Rezco gave for Auchi the Iraqi Billionaire.  He even toasted this man at the party. Go Read it for yourself today in the Chicago Suntimes.
What about Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn the TERRORISTS who murdered people, proven fact and his friendship with them.
What makes you and the other MSNBC people want this guy to be president.  He has little experience and little character which is evidenced by what he said about the people in small town America.  Shame on MSNBC.  You don't post my comments because I tell the truth, you only post those that gush out how great Obama is, how is that for fairness in a country of free speech and Democracy?
Oh and I forgot to say Bruce Springsteen was also for John Kerry and boy did that ever work out great.
Obama should remind democrats that Clinton threw Al Gore and John Kerry under the bus to score a polital point last weekend.

All democrats should be concerned about this.
I have actually been very ashamed of the so-called 'Super' Delegates. I have researched and read a lot about why they are even in existence. I do not understand the Democratic Party thinking there are elected members of their party who are more important than the millions of American voters. They are there to 'protect' us from ourselves if we picked the wrong candidate. I cannot think of anything more patronizing and blatantly 'elitist' than this assertion by the Party itself.

And....these so-called SDs........are hiding in the corner afraid of incurring the Clinton wrath if the support Obama - look what they did to Richardson - and don't want to HAVE to make a decision. These are the people who are supposed to SAVE us??? I think there is way to much power/importance being given to men and women who obviously cannot decide any better than we can.

Let's just stick to the will of people, shall we?? Novel idea, don't you think???

All you women bloggers supprting Hill this thing is over. I am 100% sure there will be a viable woman candidate again soon because I see many gifted women all around the country and at work. I know it might be tough to accept this now. But dont hold on to this too long that it ruins it for everyone and we have another struggling economy for another 4 years. Please.

The main stream media needs to investigate and report on the Rezko Story.
Did Obama do political favors for him?
How was Obama able to afford the joint purchase of land in Kentwood with Rezko, when he claims not to have had any money in the bank?
Who financed the deal?
The media needs to find the answers to these questions.
It is only fitting that the Boss backs Sen Obama; he, like Sen Obama cares deeply about issues that effect Americans and the world we live in. This is a fine day for Sen Obama supporters and Boss fans.

WooHoo!! Go Barack!!!
Barack has answered the tough questions, jumped through every hoop. While the media treats McCain with kid gloves. (As evidenced on Chris Matthews special "T-Ball" show last night w/McCain.)
The supers are continuing to go for Barack.
Yes We Can.
Obama '08

What uplifting news of support for Obama -- all the way around!  Talk about connecting with the average voter -- Springsteen has been their champion for decades.  This is a really nice paring.

Onward and upward, Obama!
Thank you, Boss!!
Obama/Rendell 08
Hey Lynne in AR,

Let me guess, you support HRC.  You must have a super short memory.

BILL CLINTON PARDONED TERRORISTS!!!!!!!!

Did you forget about that?

A little different than being at a fund raiser, where there were MANY people.

BILL CLINTON PARDONED TERRORISTS!!!!

Now what do you have to say Lynn?
Says The Boss:

Dear Friends and Fans:

LIke most of you, I've been following the campaign and I have now seen and heard enough to know where I stand. Senator Obama, in my view, is head and shoulders above the rest.

He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next President. He speaks to the America I've envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that's interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. A place where "...nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone."

At the moment, critics have tried to diminish Senator Obama through the exaggeration of certain of his comments and relationships. While these matters are worthy of some discussion, they have been ripped out of the context and fabric of the man's life and vision, so well described in his excellent book, Dreams of My Father, often in order to distract us from discussing the real issues: war and peace, the fight for economic and racial justice, reaffirming our Constitution, and the protection and enhancement of our environment.

After the terrible damage done over the past eight years, a great American reclamation project needs to be undertaken. I believe that Senator Obama is the best candidate to lead that project and to lead us into the 21st Century with a renewed sense of moral purpose and of ourselves as Americans.

Over here on E Street, we're proud to support Obama for President.
I actually clicked on your link to Bruce's video of Streets of Philadelphia and realized it unleashed a political thought in me.  I teared up when I saw the faces of the urban school children against the chainlink fence of their school yard and I realized.  These children (urban usually minority and/or poor children) are just as forgotten as are the white rural and working class voters in small towns and they don't always vote their interests (well, their parents don't) either.  In fact, many of them don't vote at all.  No hope, disenchanted, not engaged by traditional politics, unskilled in advocacy.

We moved here from New York City (Brooklyn) and my children go to urban schools (one goes to a magnet school in Hartford, our capital city and one with a high poverty rate).  These children ARE all my children too.

We need to engage more people.  We need to recognize the frustrations and sometimes the bitterness but we need to do so as we move forward.  We need to allow them to give rise to the hope that is always there but sometimes buried deep.

And that is so much why I support Obama.  And the video (Streets of Philadelphia) is a good fit with Barack's campaign.
Some how this doesn't surprise me.  Nor does the fact that most Muslims and all anti-Israel governments seem to like this guy.  Gee, I wonder why?
Lynne, Lr, Ar:

In case you have not been paying attention, it is NOT MSNBC or Chuck Todd that want Senator Obama as POTUS. It the millions of Americans who have voted FOR him!!
He is ahead in the popular vote - even w/Florida and Michigan factored in so don't go there. He is ahead in elected delegates and states won. AND...is narrowing the gap in SuperDs every day.

And if you were to read "First Read" every day, like most of us do, you would realize there have been just as many GOOD reports on HRC as there have been on BHO. There have also been as many BAD reports on both of them as well.

I think Chuck Todd and his team do a very good job of balancing the reporting even though there are times I think they are picking on my candidate of choice. There are good days, and there are bad days for both of them. So goes the ocean tide......so goes politics.

Lynne you sound a bit condescending towards Chuck and MSNBC. Perhaps even a bit elitist?

"You are better than this"? Come off your high horse please.

And your comment was posted, so quit whining about how  they're not.

Why is it relevant to mention that the endorsements are by two muslims?  The media pushes race, religion and other divisions. Why cant you just report the numbers and names of the superdelegates and the state they represent? Continually raising the issue only further divides us (Americans). Congrats Obama, go for the kill tonight she deserves it, truly.
Well this great news will make you bots just poop in your pants!
Heh - apparently Elton was the proverbial Fat Lady singing to punctuate the clear fact that Clinton's chances are truly over.
Lynne, LR,AR (SHUT UP)
It amazes me that people like you can find much to do about nothing, but when HRC actually does something worth noting, like her sniper fire bit you act as if it where nothing. Why don't you HRC campaigners get off the blogs. MSNBC doesn't post your comments, because they're stupid. I guess stupid is what stupid does. Don't hate the player(Obama), hate the game (the one HRC is losing).

Obama '08
Well this great news will make you bots just poop in your pants!
Actually, isn't Carson facing a tough battle in Nov.  I'm sure he's backing Obama on the merits but I think its also notable that he thinks it would be good to have Barack a top a ballot that he's on!

YES WE CAN!
Jim, Madison, NJ:  Don't forget Roger Waters, Joan Baez, the Grateful Dead, and the Black-Eyed Peas!
3RD PARTY CANDIDATE!!

I believe Obama is a lot better than the Democratic Party.  I believe he should consider a run as a 3rd party canidate.  It is time for REAL CHANGE.
Drip, Drip , DRIP go the Super D's.

By June, Obama will have reached the magic number.  The Super D's are coming one, by one, sometimes two by two, and when we finally get to June, Obama will have reached the magic number with teh help of the SUper D's.

The SUper D's have it all planned out.  They don;t want to make HRC look bad(even though she has taken care of that quite well herself), so they aren't going to "ask" her to get out of the race, but this is how they are doing it.  They will just keep coming, and coming, and coming........

You would think she would want to end with a little integrity and dignity, but I guess she lost all that back in the 90's.

Oh well, who cares, the CLintons are OUT OUT OUT!!!!!!

YES!!!

Obama 08
BACKLASH:

The new PPP poll in Penn has obama up 2 points.  It was taken over the last two days..
Can someone tell me why that when I read a piece by Domenico, he intends to elaborate on separation of races, religion, etc.  Why was it necessary to point out this quy was a Muslim?  Please MSNBC do not edit me from the blog.  I mean no disrespect towards Domenico...but i really get tired of him doing this.  Are you a racist or a unbias journalist.  Please report meaningful information and stop trying to force issues that are not important.
If any of you EVEN use a *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* regarding the two Muslim members of Congress backing Obama, then you're racist scum. Period. I say congratulations Obama.

And don't try to come back with some smart-a[hem] remark about "well, you said it first"... P, CA (Sent Wednesday, April 16, 2008 10:33 AM)

Yes, everyone is a racist if they don't support Obama.  Only racist people could find some fault with this Saintly figure.  I'm sure in your world all who oppose him will be blown up or have their heads chopped off.
Lynne, your comments were posted.  the reason they may not be posted at other times is you probably submit them after they're accepting comments (we've all had your experience).  There's no conspiracy against Clinton.  What stuns me is the near-religious fervor with which Clinton supporters still defend "their girl."  When almost 2/3 of Americans say she's dishonest, these supporters say that the polls are biased.  When a reputable news organization dares to report something that the "converted to Clinton" deem negative, that news organization is suddenly biased.
I'm sorry lynne, I read your "Lynne, LR,AR" too quickly and saw "LIAR"... but that actually works with the context of your comment, so...

Get educated. Post some web link or something to back yourself up instead of the useless dribble you paranoid cretins keep flooding the boards with. Here lemme try, looks like fun...

OBAMA, REZKO, SCUM,AUCHI, LIARR< FILTH, TRASH, AYERS WRIGHT, TERRORIST, REZKO<< HILLARY0809 YAYA GOGOGOGOHILL!

Eh, I'll stick to the real issues. Sorry.
CHUCK,
I have to say you are better than this.  Why do you want this man Obama to win so badly?

Lynne, LR,AR (Sent Wednesday, April 16, 2008 10:38 AM)

Yeah Chuck. Why do you have to report the news so often?
I have so much respect for the Boss; he represents a generation of singers and poets who are social observers and activists. His letter to Obama choked me up.

Glad Obama got another superdelegate endorsement today too.

With today's debate coming, this should boost Obama's spirits after what seems now to be a media-induced week of missplaced hysteria. Based on the polls, I guess MOST people realize Obama may have misspoken, but his heart (and mind) were in the right place.

It would be such a gift if America could be led by an inspirational leader, like in the days of FDR, JFK and MLK. I hope we're courageous enough to vote for change.

Yes, we can!
Lynne, LR,AR,
You're wasting your time trying to use logic and reason on people like Chuck Todd, and the other two clowns who write for this message board.
They are prostitutes for their master, "Pimp Daddy B.O."
The things you say about Obama are absolutely true. He is a lying scumbag.
But, the mainstream media NEVER picks up on it. They generally make excuses for the guy, and then attack Hillary as if she were the devil herself.
His latest remark, about people who go to church or who own guns being "bitter" is laughable to the point of obscenity.
I'm sure the moderators at tonight's debate will find someway to softball that, along with the "beer and shot" comment too.
The man LIES constantly, and never gets called out on it. I think its' because the media saw what happened to Don Imus and they are afraid of being labled racists.
It's really about time that someone had the guts to stand up to Obama and his LYING surrogates.
I thank you Lynne, for expressing what a lot of us have been seeing for quite some time now.
You don't post my comments because I tell the truth, you only post those that gush out how great Obama is, how is that for fairness in a country of free speech and Democracy?
Lynne, LR,AR (Sent Wednesday, April 16, 2008 10:38 AM)

Bull.  They've most more than enough of your racist, hate filled, narrow minded, regurgitated Sean-Hannity-talking-point posts over the last few months.  So much so that I remember you posts.

If you want to play the "guilty by association" character assassination game.  By all means, we could fill pages against Clinton.  Let's start with the FALN terrorists, Susan Rosenberg, and Linda Sue Evans (both part of the Weather Underground)

Or we could judge people based on who they are and not what has been said/done by people 1 and 2 associations removed.
OK,  I'll say it,  the muslim is supporting Obama....not that anyone is surprised.

ON the Muslim Website,  they are all supporting Obama.

It says..

Muslins for Obama on the front page.

Chuck Todd, yeah, how about a report on the Rezco trial?
And about Obama's friendship will terrorist William "Bill" Ayers and Dohrn.

Thanks for this.  It also says he will announce two superdelegates today.  Do you know who they are?
Wow, the boss!

I'd like to see a debate between Bruce and Sir Elton about their respective candidates.

Now THAT would reawaken interest in the campaign (and unfortunately discussions about who's an elitist).

Bruce is a good representative of the intersection of hope and bitterness... it's called YEARNING and he frames it so well. After all, everybody's got a hungry heart...
The Boss knows who's the best qualified to be the Big Boss in Washington.  Kudos to him for doing the right thing and backing Obama before the PA voters vote.

Go Obama!
The race has become boring. Clinton is not competing to win but to bring down Obama!
Drip, drip, drip . . . the superdelegates choose hope over hysterics!

Obama '08
This endorsement is better then Elton John for Hillary... The Boss... Springsteen... impresses me. His view on Politics are those not to be taken lightly.
