Obama picks up two more supers

Posted: Wednesday, April 16, 2008 1:26 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann
Per an Obama conference call taking place right now, the two North Carolina superdelegates who are announcing their support for Obama today are:

US Rep. Mel Watt
US Rep. David Price

Watt, notably, is a former chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus.

We'll have more on this call shortly...

*** UPDATE *** The superdelegate count: Clinton 257, Obama 234.

Also note: Going back through our lists, we have taken two away Hillary Clinton. One Clinton supporter, Ken Curtis, moved from Maine to Florida. (Florida is not included in the count, as the state has been stripped of its delegates to the national convention.) The other is Sarah Swisher (IA), who had been supporting Edwards then moved to Clinton and then switched to Obama last month. We added her in for Obama at the time, but still had her factored into our count for Clinton as well.

In the overall count now, Obama leads by 141 (1,650-1,509). He has a 164 pledged-delegate lead (1,416-1,252).

Thats 3 today. The Clinton delegate lead is getting shorter by the minute. I think its time for democrats everywhere to unite as a party and stop threatening and crying to get their nominee. We should all back whoever the democrats select because they are both equally good candidate. They are similar on almost all issues with MINOR exceptions. We CAN NOT let the same Republican government continue. You think things are worse now? They are going to be nightmarish if we let republicans have the white house again.
Congratulations, Senator Obama on the endorsements you picked up today.

MSNBC, will you now make it a practice of listing all superdelegates religious practices as you did with Senator Carson?
Doesn't that mean Obama is behind Clinton by only 25 Super Delegates ?

I thought ALL the NC Congressmen were going to endorse Obama ?

Who will be the Super Delegate that put Obama ahead of Clinton ?

?When will that happen ?
After Indiana and North Carolina ?

The walls are closing in on you Hillary !!
Your 'Career of Evil' is almost over.....

Bye, Bye Hil
Drip, drip, drip...

Go Obama!!!
Thank you Reps. Watt and Price. Welcome aboard the Ready For Change Express.

Obama '08 and '12
I just read on the Obama website 25 out of  the 35 South Dakota legislators will support Barack today.
If the majority of voters still think Obama is another name for change, they will again find out when it's too late if he becomes the nominee for the democrats. Bush had some voters thinking the same thing, (twice) and we are suffering with war, the economy, and healthcare. Our days are surely numbered with more of the same, (especially the economy) if Obama gets in. If so, I plan to once again say "I told you so". Hopefully Clinton backers will vote for Mccain and we'll all be right where we started from. The only tragic thing is that when Obama voters suffer, we ALL have to suffer. Thanks for nothing Obama voters.
drip, drip, drip.  It's the sweet sound of hope and change.  Obama 08
Step by step, he's getting there!

Go Obama!

Thanks, super delegates. We appreciate your stepping out for us!
Huh. Her lead with supers must be down to about 25 or so now.
We'll take 'em any color, creed, age, gender, whether Muslim, Christian, red-haired, tall, short, or by any other box you want to put them in. Jeez. Why is'nt the religion, and race of white, Christian Supers, or other delegates made a point of First Read? Please get off that. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you may not realize how bigoted this is. Like Senator Obama said, we all have work to do in this area.

Thank you, Messers Watt, and Price.

YES WE CAN!
Bada Bing Obama!
Yay!!  The grip of the DLC machine is loosening!!

Go Obama, go!!!!
Just a few more and...
GREAT!  This spells the beginning of the end for HRC!  Time for her to go home and go fishing.
Obama 08
Go Obama go!
"Bitters for Obama!"
Yes We Can!

It's time for the race to end. Hillary can only blame herself, not others. Hillary can stop the negative campaigm and trying to win at all cost. Stop treating the blue collar folks like they are dump. We can tell more about Hillary by what she does versus what she says. We can't beleive what she says, it changes with the moment.

Obama has the Change we all want. We are tired of the old polictics that devides us and does not focus on solving the problems of the middle class and poor.
Fantastic news for Obama!  That makes 3 superdelegates that have come out today for him.  I really hope that Pennsylvania voters are tired of Clinton and her negative attacks and that the undecided voters will break his way in the primary.  It is time that he is named the nominee.
Revealed today that one of the people featured in Senator Clinton's attack ad of offended Pennsylvanians is actually a New Jersey citizen.

While this probably isn't indicative of any unusual insidiousness, it is representative of the kind of incompetence demonstrated time and again by her campaign.

I can't imagine WHY Clinton's favorability ratings are so poor.  She's made about as many embellishments as Obama but been scrutinized ferrociously by the media.  The media should be proud of their actions.  They're helping to make it harder for the best choice for President to be elected.  I pray that the whole country doesn't have to pay for the next 4-8 years for the medias bias.
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin' Keep those Supers rollin!
Fantastic!!! 3 supers and 'The Boss'!!!...

PA and NC are sending a clear message today...

Obama '08
Outrageous.  Two more supposedly successful intelligent Americans who are clearly in denial.  Why don't they get it that the Presidency THIS TIME is Hillary Clinton's RIGHT?  It's HER turn, not HIS.  He should wait his turn?  Why is he trying to steal what is rightfully HIllary's?
What angers me about this whole superdelegate thing, is that the politicians are BUYING them.  They are contributing money to their campaigns.  Guess where they get it from??? The campaign contributors.  Talk about buying votes!!

And Yes...Obama, the Golden Boy...is buying them too...at warp speed...no kidding!!

An error...or maybe a mistype...seems I find them all the time on MSNBC news...In a current article, it says that Obama has accepted an invitation to debate here in NC and Clinton has accepted April 27th as the date.  Obama keeps putting it off.  It has been 2 weeks since they have been reporting it here in NC, and from what they report, Obama has not agreed on a date and says that "we are not sure if it will work for us".  They have been given two weeks and they cannot make up their minds or see if it fits their schedule...what a crock!

I am still waiting to see the USA Survey that shows Clinton up by double digits in PA...have not seen it yet...at least not on this news site.  Hmmm...wonder why that is?
HOORAY!

This must be a 'bitter' newsday for boo hoo Hillary the booed.
PLEASE OBAMA SUPPORTERS ANSWER AT LEAST ONE OF MY QUESTIONS.

Obama keeps saying Clinton is the same old politics. My questions are

How long has Obama been in politics?

Obama talks about change

What has he changed since been in politics?

What makes Obama think that he can change the world's opinion of the USA?
Hillary Clinton is no longer campaigning to win. She is campaigning to bring Obama down. That also means the race should come to an end!
Ah, those bitter North Carolinians...clinging to their Bibles and guns.

Perhaps they'll sip from a shot of Canadian whiskey before going to the polls on May 6 - and voting for Obama. :)

Clinton's in a dilly of a pickle here.  She can't even really afford to go completely negative, as every time she's tried going in that direction, her numbers have worsened.  I suspect that the bathroom sink and toilet may be part of the Clinton arsenal over the next six days - starting at tonight's debate.
Who cares.  North Carolina isn't important.  The only states that matter are the ones Hillary wins.  If you totalled up the popular vote in the states that Hillary won, she would be way ahead of Obama!

C'mon Bill, Hillary needs you!  If you were still President, you could pardon some more terrorists.  That's a good way to raise campaign cash for your wife.  How about giving Denise Rich a call?  Just remind her that you pardoned her husband.  Maybe she can throw some more cash your way.

Obama in 2008.  Integrity matters and the Clintons have none.
Mark, do we always need to reduce the validity of the supers going to Barack by stating that Watt, notably, is a former chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus?  It just brings race back into the fray and diminishes the endorsement.   The reality:  Two more supers in Obama's column.  Drip, drip, drip.  Wait for the gush.  It's the sweet sound of hope and change.  Obama 08
I love Barrack and will support him regardless, but I think the "bitter, guns, God thing WILL hurt him.  As a swift anedote, all Super delegates who come from rural backgrounds NEED to get off their butts and endorse him.  Hillary is history.  Barrack is who we Dems have.  McCain will ride this eletist shit to the hilt.  We NEED damage control.   I don't know who the rural background Supers are, but John Edwards comes to mind.  Wasn't his dad a mill worker in a small town?  Come on rural Supers, the time for waiting is past.  We need damage control now!
Again, we see the Supers are following the public's support for Obama.
A good omen for tonight's debate....

Change is in the air, folks.

Go Obama!
Two more superdelegates!  I guess they are "elitist" as well...

OBAMA O8!!!
Yes, we can, Baby!!!!  Yes, we can!!!  Thank you very much!  We're almost there!!!  2024!
GOBAMA!
Summary of Hillary Clinton's record:

DO YOU HEAR THE OBAMA TRAIN COMING !
There's a ludacris song that suits the mood:
"Move -----, get out the way; Get out the way -----"
I LOVE IT! The fat lady is singing.. I just hope HRC is listening....

OBAMA 08
Finally, people are getting up the nerve to commit.  Obama will be our next President! Hillary-eat our dust!!!
Hillary, keep the negative campaign going.  This race may be over sooner than I thought
Let's not forget today's endorsement by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (as in WESTERN Pennsylvania!):

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08107/873625-192.stm

I know the press is disappointed that their fabricated story didn't sink Obama, like they had hoped.
Hi when and what time is the debate btwn obama/clinton in PA and on whose programm and on what channel?
Wow! go Obama.
Keep those superdelegates going for Mr. Obama. The sooner the better and we can end all this in fighting and move on against McCain.
To "Isabel Maione, Lakewood, N.J" if you are saying that Hillary supporter will actually pick McCain over Obama then I believe it would be YOUR fault that we get back where we started.

Also, here is a hint: maybe Clinton could get a few more votes if her supporters didn't always talk down to, insult, and ramble about Obama supporters.  Do you have nothing good to say about your own candidate that all you can do is blame people who don't back her?
