Poll: McCain ahead in Colorado

Posted: Wednesday, April 16, 2008 1:39 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray and Chuck Todd
A new poll by the GOP firm TargetPoint -- conducted for the pro-GOP interest group New Leadership USA -- has McCain leading both Obama and Clinton in Colorado, a state that Dems believe they can win, especially if Obama is their nominee.

According to the poll, McCain leads Clinton there, 52%-40%, and he leads Obama, 51%-39%. (The margin of error for these match-ups, though, is fairly high at 5.6%.)

What's also striking in the poll is Clinton's poor favorability standing in the state. Her fav/unfav is 39%-57%, while McCain's is 55%/36% and Obama's is 55%-39%.

There is nothing striking about clinton's poor favorability there. Colorado is one those "unimportant because they are too small and didn't vote for me" states that Clinton spent so much time trashing. What other reaction would you expect?
Close your eyes if you are a Billary supporter.
Those Negatives.... OUCH !
I feel for you ( NOT !)
Hmmmm....so Obamabots, what do you have to say about this?  You keep saying, Obama will win with a different electoral strategy by picking up states like Colorado...yet, he's polling as bad as Hillary there.  I keep saying he's unelectable, you keep saying I'm wrong [although in your typical nastiness], and the facts keep agreeing with my position.  Wake Up Obamabots...he's gonna lose, and lose big time!
Wait until AFTER Obama has gotten the nomination....

Then, give the Clintonistas some time to recover to cool down....

Obama will take Colorado

The John McCain Antiques Roadshow is gonna run into a ditch
Clinton's poor favorability rating is striking, but not surprising

Her numbers were already terrible BEFORE she started trashing her own party's leading candidate . . . but not just trashing, but really hitting on a personal level and doing damage that will drag into the general election

All of that has served to only reinforce the perception that most already had of her . . . manipulative and untrustworthy
'...What's also striking in the poll is Clinton's poor favorability standing in the state. Her fav/unfav is 39%-57%...'

Who ARE the 39%

She's UNELECTABLE !!
allow me to be the first to respond.......its time that all those super d's thats been sitting on the fence, holding out and waiting for billary to expose some awfull information about obama,to step up and step out for your country, your people, and your party!!!! she's fought the fight, but its now time for the ten-count!!!!
How is this news?  GOP firm, conducting poll on behalf of a pro-GOP group, finds, wait for it, the GOP candidate ahead.  Had the poll come out the other way, THAT would have been news.

"Hey, somebody get a reporter over here, that dog just bit that guy!"
I am sure that this is, by far, the most unbiased, scientifc poll of Colorado that will be performed this year.  It totally syncs up with every other poll out there, and merely confirms what we all know to be true -- Obama can not keep it close in the mountain states.  /sarcasm off
Those numbers should go higher once Denver burns down during the great recreate 68 convention.

All these polls this far out mean nothing. Once people start to realize who McCain really is, they will flee from him.

I live in Colorado and trust me, we will elect a Democratic Senator, Udall, and we will deliver the state to Obama.
Well MSNBZZZZZ can counter it with a pro obamma poll that way the press is fair hahahahahaha
This poll is not the GE. We will worry about this later. He beat Hillary in their primary, by about 30%, and that is all that matters until after the Convention. One step at a time.
I live in Colorado and know that Obama is a force to be reckoned with here.  Mc Nasty doesn't stand a chance of winning Colorado!  Obama has a very well established grassroots base that will come out in droves to vote for him.  The Dems and Indys of this state are energized, fired up and ready to go!!!

OBAMA 08!!!!
Well thats not good news for Obama since that was on his newly created path to reach the needed number of electoral votes.  Looks like the Dems are going to need Floria, Pennsylvania and Ohio after all.  If I remember correctly..these are Clinton states!  In the words of Chris Matthews...HAWWWW!  Maybe Obama should step down!

Hillary 08
Obama people I wouldn't be so proud of Clinton's negatives.  If you can do math you will notice they are both 12 points below McCain.  Even with those kind of negatives she polls the same as Barack.  Not good!
Hey First REad,

How come no mention of the 25 State leaders in South Dakota that endorsed Obama today?

Looks like South Dakota is in the tank for Obama too!!!

Sorry HRC-remember you have to win ALL remaining states by 64% to even TIE Obama in delegates.

It's SOOOOOOOOOOO over for HRC.
Gop poll for the GOP candidate.  Would I expect either candidate leading John McCain. NO

Revealed today: one of the people featured in Senator Clinton's attack ad of offended Pennsylvanians is actually a New Jersey citizen.

While this probably isn't intentional, it is representative of the kind of incompetence demonstrated time and again by her campaign.

This is a very stupid poll, it was conducted by a pro-GOP firm. It to favorable to one candidate, Polling should be done by an independent firm.
This poll is VERY, VERY UNreliable.

Obama '08
The superdelegates need to what they are suppose to do.   We need to get this race over so we can get the nomination  behind us.
Who cares about the GOP's bogus polls? The poll situation that's not getting much comment is that the latest so-called "controversy" the corporate media stirred up against Obama has had no measurable effect in the polls. Obama was 3 points behind CLinton in Pennsylvania in an earlier PPP poll, but now he's 3 points ahead.

The McCain versus Obama polls also show zero impact from the phony controversy.

It must be disappointing for some  alleged "journalists" who pride themselves on being able to manipulate public opinion that all the hot air they've expended in their wall-to-wall coverage of their made-up scandal has had so little impact on the public.

Lou Dobbs and George Will are probably  blowing a gasket over their abject failure.
Funny term New Leadership USA. New Leader same failed policies.  A few populist lines in his speech yesterday and we crown him the candidate of change.  I like his idea to rob Peter to pay Paul on the gas tax.  Nice of you to put construction workers jobs at risk.  General revenues to offset the tax loss won't some other program suffer from the movement? Where is the budget discipline? Oh pandering above discipline, I get it. His new tag line from his adoring Press should be "Wrong turn express".
It doesn't matter, Obama wil not win in Nov,  becuse ALL the Hillary supporters 50% of Dems.  will NOT vote for Obama.
And tere's not enough blacks and college druggies to elect him.

I just heard on the news that Obama had joined Louis Farrakhan for that Million man march he held.

Also heard about Obama being mentioned in the REzco trial.......stay tuned.

Obama's other friend terrorist Willim Bill Ayers is sorat mad at Hannity for reporting the truth about Ayers and Obama.
Hmmmm....so Obamabots, what do you have to say about this?   I keep saying he's unelectable, you keep saying I'm wrong [although in your typical nastiness] Wake Up Obamabots...
Pat Huntington NY (Sent Wednesday, April 16, 2008 1:49 PM)

Well here's what I have to say:  "A new poll by the GOP firm TargetPoint -- conducted for the pro-GOP interest group New Leadership USA"

Yeah, real reliable there... but hey, if you think someone with a long history of having negatives near 40-50% for the last decade and a half, and now negatives pushing close to 60% is electable...

And aren't you the one that whined about being attacked last week when asking a question?  Yet you seem quickly to degrade Obama supporters.  Bit hypocritical if you ask me.
Pat, Huntinton NY wrote- "I keep saying he's unelectable, you keep saying I'm wrong [although in your typical nastiness], and the facts keep agreeing with my position.  Wake Up Obamabots...he's gonna lose, and lose big time!"
-----------------------------------

Wake up Pat.  Your mean spirited posts against Obama have no legs or traction.  I trust this poll as much as I trust winning the lottery.  The tongue-in-cheek comments from Chuck and Todd are accurate.  This poll is worthless.  However, your Hi'liar'y gal has 'unfavorables' lower than a snakes belly in a wagon rut.
Obama won the Colorado caucuses on Super Tuesday by better than two-to-one, and this in spite of a Clinton endorsement by the US Rep from CD1, and in spite of MOST Colorado super delegates withholding endorsements because we're hosting the DNC.

Obama support is strong in Colorado, you'll see.
Hey Pat Huntington-Mouth, thats pretty funny you calling SOMEONE ELSE nasty!  Your head is so far up Hillary's behind I'm surprised you haven't suffocated.
No Obamabot here, but sure as hell not a Hillarity Clinton dweeb!
The key word is GOP.
Hey Adam, Green Bay, WI....that was classic!

This election year has been a roller coaster ride so far and to think; it is just getting started.  This MSNBC blog, no matter how rough and tumble have been great and I have enjoyed the many opinions.  I love hearing what people have to say across the US of A.

What is more classic, is McCain running against the Bush Administration.  He has embraced many of Bush's policies, now he is running from them.  Amazing!  This poll is laugh out loud funny.  They must have polled 125 people.  Come on, this is past silly season!

I love MSBNC!
As one who has lived in Colorado Springs for 21 years, truly a pilgrim in an unholy land, I can assure you that Obama has the best chance of any Democrat to take this state.  People ARE tired of the lies and hypocrisy, the playing fast and loose with the rule of law.  They are further tired of dynastic politics -- Bushes and Clintons have had their shot.  Let's move on.  Udall will win the senate race, and Obama will show just fine.
To Pat in New York.
All I want from Hilary Clinton supporters is consistency. Either polls matter or they don't. Does it matter that Obama is up by 11 points with Democrats nationwide in the gallup poll, yes or no? If not then why would it matter that John McCain is up 10 in a GOP sponsored poll in Colorado. If you're trying to convince us "Obamabots" on Obama's unelectability then it's important to give a consistent and rational basis for your agruement. Saying Obama is unelectable because you think he is, that's not a good arguement.
