Pelosi: 'Dream Ticket' not a good idea

Posted: Thursday, April 24, 2008 4:55 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Shawna Thomas
Nancy Pelosi will be on Larry King Live tonight. CNN previewed a clip in which the House Speaker says a so-called Obama-Clinton Dream Ticket is not a good idea.

LARRY KING:  If you had your power woud you want them to run together?

PELOSI: No

LARRY KING: No?

PELOSI: I don't think it's a good idea.

LARRY KING:  Not a good idea?

PELOSI: No I don't think so.

LARRY KING: Because?

PELOSI: I think that first of all the candidate, whoever he or she may be, should choose his or her own vice presidential candidate. I think that's appropriate.  That's where you would see the comfort level not only how to run but how to govern the country. And there's plenty of talent to go aroud to draw upon for a good strong ticket. I'm not one of those who thinks that that's a good ticket.

Thank you Nancy Pelosi for telling the truth. America agrees with you. Barack has several wonderful people from whom he can choose a talented capable Vice President who will add to a winning ticket in the Fall Election.
Don't do Barack.......she's not be trusted!

You want someone to work with you, not against.
I'll be honest. I'm a junior at Florida State University, and ladies on our campus don't hold a candle to Mrs. Pelosi.  She is such an amazing woman.  She can stand up to the Clintons.

Pelosi/Obama 08'
Thank you.  Besides, could you imagine the cat fights between Pelosi and Clinton... MEOW!
No kidding it's a bad idea. If Clinton had to murder Obama in order to get the presidency, she would.  She's made that much clear.
I completely agree.  Thank you, Nancy Pelosi for one again being the voice of reason.
Tell it like it is girl!

Obama-Pelosi 08!!!!

how can Clinton expect to get the VP slot after her 'Tonya Harding' kitchen-sink blitz???

the pure, unadulterated illogic of that proposition is truly baffling

the American people aren't as stupid as she thinks they are
Well if HRC somehow steals this from Obama, the turn out of the democratic voters that the party are getting now will be far less for the gerenarl  election as 90% of the Obama supporters will not even show up to vote, black or white. Thus we have another republican in the white house.

NONE OF US WANTS TO SEE THE Clintons BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE. DON`T THEY GET IT YET!!

So you see while HRC thinks that she has Obama supporters for the general election she really doesn`t.
I for one will not be voting if HRC steals this by cheating and LYING.

So says a lot of the people I have conversed with and general everyday talk. These people Are not friends of mine nor do I see them on a daily basis.
These are people that I run into with my everyday chores such as going to stores, cleaners, parks with the kids & to fill my gas tank.
A lot of these people believe that she has already ruin the party chances this fall and I think that they are right,  HRC  has  every right to keep running but the way it`s looking now it is not good for the party.

NONE OF US WANTS TO SEE THE Clintons BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE. DON`T THEY GET IT YET!!

GO OBAMA '08

im right there with you pelosi. She's being kind with her words, as usual. But the underlying message here is, there is no way Obama would want to run with the person who has set out to ruin the democratic party. I hear you sister!
Who would really want the job of Pres. Obama's foodtaster?  Barack would have to sleep with one eye open.
Totally agree. Hillary as VP is a terrible idea. There are much more honest people out there.
"And there's plenty of talent to go aroud to draw upon for a good strong ticket. I'm not one of those who thinks that that's a good ticket."

LOL.  She totally just called Hillary out.  Funny!
This is what happens when you become Speaker of the House...the power goes to your head!!

She thinks she's got the whole thing figured out...that she can control the candidates!!  Everyone knows where she stands...she isn't fooling anyone...just say it Speaker Pelosi, we know your biased and have been very ineffective in this process!!

Power really does corrupt!!
THE TURN OUT OF NEW VOTER FOR THE DEMOCRATS IS GREAT!
With that said:
WE WANT SOMETHING NEW AND NOT RUINED BY WASHINGTON

I really don`t know why the media insist that if HRC steals the nomination that Obama`s supporters will vote for her and that if Obama WINS the nomination that HRC supporters will not vote for him .

GO OBAMA '08
Well than Nancy the BIG NUMBER is 2025 and neither Candidate has that!!!  Why??? because each of our candidates has about 50% of the democratic vote so far.  The vote is so close and you can't just leave out half of the voters because you think there is other good talent out there.  I really think they need to run together at this point.  It is so interesting that Nancy suggests the superdelegates should vote the will of there states when she clearly leans towards Obama and California went for Hillary.  Similar to John Kerry, Ted Kennedy and Bill Richardson voting opposite of there states.  Hmmmm the rules change as long as they are in favor of Obama it seems.  The fact is both candidates are trying to bend the rules in their favor.  Leave in/out Michigan and Florida, etc.  Superdelegates can choose who they want, thats what makes them SUPER!
Well said, Madame Speaker. At least, she had the "balls" to say what she thinks.
The reason?  Having HRC on the ticket -- whether at top or VP -- brings out all the Republican Clinton-haters who otherwise will not be motivated to go vote McCain.
Pelosi's clearly didn't get where she is by being stupid.  The ticket's going to be Obama-Richardson.
Amen Nancy!
Thank God!!  Someone with some comon sense!!  That particular Dream Ticket would be horrible!  Two different styles.  And one loud mouth boder line racist husband.  MO would probably deck him.  No No No!  Do not subject the American people to that.
Speaker Pelosi (the 2nd most powerful American) is a credit to woman everywhere.
Nancy Pelosi is right. Why should Obama be forced
feed HRC. That was Hillary's goal in the first place.

Besides, how could a "dream ticket" be anything other
then a nightmare. Bill is just hopping for another
go at the White House.

Hillary's ways are suspect. Come on, when she was
fresh in office in NY, she was making noises of di-
vorcing Bill. Why didn't she. I would think the
answer is obvious.

Obama '08
There are some 'truth stretching' issues with Sen. Clinton.   Vast hypocrisy issues.   Why would Obama need that, on top of Bill meddling in the bg?

The problem is, women cling to her no matter her disposition or character.  May be the best ticket to easily beat the Republican and newscasters smear machine, unfortunately.
I'm beginning to like Ms. Pelosi more and more these days. One woman who has integrity, and commond sense.  The wrong woman is running for the presidency.

OBAMA, 2008!
This woman is inept and insane.  Why not?  Why is everybody being so inflexible?  They don't like each other, so what.  She just doesn't want Hillary to overshadow her.  A dream ticket is the only solution to win in November.

You left out her parting words, barely whispered, "... I wouldn't vote for any ticket with that bitch on it."

This woman is inept and insane.  Why not?  Why is everybody being so inflexible?  They don't like each other, so what.  She just doesn't want Hillary to overshadow her.  A dream ticket is the only solution to win in November.
I'm glad Nancy said that. Now there won't be any pressure on Obama to have Hil/Bill as VP. That would cripple the dem party against the repubs in the fall for sure!
Agreed.  It would be a disaster for them to be on the same ticket.  No common ground.  Good vs. evil, no accomplishments.

That ticket is an attempt to placate and cover wrong doing.  Only Clinton supporters endorsing nullification of voters wishes would suggest such a thing.  It won't work.  The Republicans will not leave the White House when the DNC nominates Clinton.  I won't vote for her.  Michigan should prove that.  When give just Hillary or no one, almost half the people chose NO ONE rather than Hillary Clinton.

Rationalizing away the rift that is widening everyday will not make it go away.  McCain will win by default. As with the Michigan voters, I will not cast a vote for a Clinton.  Regardless of the ticket.  Bosnia was just the tip of the ice berg of reasons why.
Finally... Someone with the guts to say it out loud! I luv'ya Pelosi. HRC is NOT a democrat!
given pelosi's idea to rush the nomination which is/was in favor obama, she might be gunning as obama's v.p. just like his early endorsers.
I'm suprised that she had time to actually answer the question, seeing as the rest of the time she is too busy licking Obama's balls to end the war in Iraq.

Hope she votes with the will of her people and votes for HRC!
Clinton stands for everything Obama is against as far as Changing government back to a Government for the people. Clinton loves lobbiest, Obama wants to take some of there power away. Clinton stands for politics as usual, like Obama says her whole argument is I'm better at playing politics as usual, well Obama wants to lead us in changing politics as usual. Notice I didn't say Obama wants to change, no Obama wants us to change politics, its one of the big differences Obama is "We" Clinton is all about "I".
I would rather see Obama pick a republican then Clinton. That is the one way to keep me from voting for Obama is putting Clinton on the ticket, and no if Clinton still had a chance and won this I wouldn't vote for her even with Obama on her ticket.
Obama/Pelosi???  Then we could get rid of two inepts at the seme time.  What a sterling idea.
Larry King: Is the DNC weak or just stupid?

Pelosi: A little of both I think

Larry King: And Howard Dean...Was he born without testicles or did that occur later?

Pelosi: I think he lost them in 2000

Larry King: Hmmm...sad...So my guess is then, because you are all weak, stupid and nutless...as stated earlier...you all will sit back and watch Hillary destroy any chances of a democrat in the white house in 2008?

Pelosi: ummmm....sounds about right

Larry King: like 2000 and 2004?

Pelosi: .....yes

Larry King: Do you think there is a lesson to be learned from this?

Pelosi: Hmmmmm....consistancy is important?

Larry King: Goodnight
I agree Madame Speaker.

Plus, I'm more fearful that The Clinton's would plot to take him out. They are more sociopathic than your average run of the mill hate monger cowering at home, hovering over their keyboard, posting bitterly on these threads, as well as, other haters. The Clinton's would be too close to a Presidency for Hillary, in that case, to restrain themselves. I AM NOT TRYING TO BE FUNNY!!!!

I do not put murder past Hillary, and Bill, if they saw that as a way for her to realize her psychotic compulsion to make history as the first female POTUS.
Good for you, Nancy.

I certainly agree.
To many of their supporters, it would be
a Nightmare ticket. Besides, as Al Gore well knows,
any ticket with Clinton at the top already has
the real VP- the other Clinton.
Now that thats been brought up for the hundreth time and finally laid to rest? Why in Gods name would this be called a dream ticket, by anyone with any common sense what so ever. Forget it people talk about opposites attract, B_LL S__T!! For those that are so sure of themselves on this rediculous idea Springer is on!!thats just the mentality you people need.A dream ticket would be one for those to use and get away from shear ignorance.

OBAMA alone, with his own choice, of VP in 08!

The last thing we need is the biggest complainer (whiner) getting exactly what they want. It would be absolutely foolish for Obama to have Hillary as VP. His days on this planet would be numbered.
This is an election, not a schoolyard bidchfest, with the winner being the best bidcher. What about future elections, break the rules & win? Who cares about votes or the voters, it's about what I want and I'm gonna get it, damnit, listen to me.
The votes in FL & MI don't count, period. By the way, lets see proof of this $10M in 24 hrs.
Ladies, it's past due time for a woman president. But Hillary is screwing it up BIG TIME for your gender & the next woman to try. What, are you ALL liars, cheats & theives? Is this really YOUR representative? If so, you're going backwards fast.
I agree with Mrs. Pelosi.  The two candidates are on the opposite ends of the spectrum.  Mr. Obama, represents a new politices of respect that only come about through change.  I for one, am tired of the mud slinging being instituted by Mrs. Clinton.  That type of mud-slinging is not for a member of the same pary you are representing, but for the Republican nominee.

The democratic nominee should have been selected months ago.  There isn't any way that she can pass him any any of the votes.  Why hasn't someone in the democratic party put an end to this mess.  The fact   that no one has suggests racism.  (I don't care if we are tired of hearing the word - we are in denial, facts are facts).

I am so disgusted with the democratics at this point that I choose not to vote.  And there are a lot of people that feel the same way.  Extensive damage has taken place in the Dems party.  There will be a lot of people staying home:  Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, young old ..........

Watch  and See!!

She hit that nail, right on it's head.

Who would want a running mate who has proven herself to be a lying, scheming, backstabbing, power hungry scoundrel?  She could have him bumped-off, then be declared the President by default.
I tend to agree with Pelosi.  On the other hand, the uncommitted superdelegates may make that part of the bargain for their endorsements.  We'll see.
I love that Pelosi is so up-front. The dream ticket would be a nightmare.

Hillary probably would need Obama to bring the party back together, though it would just be one more example or her, shall we charitably call it "flexibility?" He's not ready to be President, but I'll put him a heartbeat away from the job?

For Obama, she would just be unnecessary baggage. Democratic women are not going to abandon the party they have supported for decades for a 72 year-old who cheated on his ex-wife with the woman who would become first lady. Obama will reunite the party. What he doesn't need is to add Hillary's negatives to the ticket, nor should he add the distractions that Bill and Hillary would present, just by the fact of their being there ... through no fault of their own.

Obama should take the charge of inexperience in foreign and military policy seriously and chose someone like Jim Webb as Veep. (Not Wes Clark, though, my army Col. father-in-law says Clark gets no respect from the non-West Point guys).

Yeah, Pelosi!
Pelosi best use her time to finish passing the Columbia trade bill in the House rather then spend it chit-chatting with Larry King.
Pelosi has been wrong on most everything else she's done, why would this be any different? Obama would make a terrific VP!

Hillary/08
Barack needs about 85 more SuperDelegates to Clinch!

One way of thinking about this is to assume a 50/50 split of the remaining pledged delegates....

If you do, then Barack needs about 85 more supers to get to 2025.

Anytime he does better than a 50/50 split, the delta is also subtracted from the 85....

85 and counting...

Obama 2008
