McCain blasts Obama on Hamas

Posted: Friday, April 25, 2008 4:38 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray
In recent days, McCain has taken some critical -- and, some might argue, personal -- shots at Obama. On Sunday, McCain questioned the tenuous association Obama has with the former '60s radical William Ayers. Yesterday, he delivered a jab at Obama's association with Jeremiah Wright. (Responding to questions about the endorsement he received from the controversial pastor John Hagee, the Arizona senator said, "I didn't attend Pastor Hagee's church for 20 years.")

And today, on a call with conservative bloggers, McCain said this: "I think it's very clear who Hamas wants to be the next president of the United States. So apparently has Danny Ortega and several others. I think that people should understand that I will be Hamas's worst nightmare... If Senator Obama is favored by Hamas I think people can make judgments accordingly."

McCain was referring to a the favorable comment a Hamas adviser recently made of Obama. But Obama has criticized the terrorist group and has said he would not meet with them.

Obama spokesman Hari Sevugan responded to McCain's comment on Obama and Hamas. "We want to take Senator McCain at his word that he wants to run a respectful campaign, but [it] is becoming increasingly difficult when he continually tries to use the politics of association and makes claims he knows not to be true to advance his campaign. This type of politics of division and distraction, not only lead to a campaign not worthy of the American people, but also has failed to help our families for too long."

Sevugan also points to this Obama camp statement that was made after the Hamas adviser made his remarks -- a statement the McCain campaign should have known of. "Senator Obama has repeatedly rejected and denounced the actions of Hamas, a terrorist organization responsible for the deaths of many innocents, that is dedicated to Israel's destruction.  As president, Obama will work with Israel to isolate terrorist groups like Hamas, target their resources, and support Israel's right and capability to defend itself from any attack."

*** UPDATE *** McCain spokesman Brian Rogers defends McCain's statement earlier today with this statement. “This is a legitimate issue for the American people to think about. The reason for Hamas’ praise of Senator Obama’s foreign policy is his commitment to meet unconditionally with Iran -- a nation whose president denies the Holocaust, threatens to wipe Israel off the map, funds terrorists and sends weapons to Iraq to kill American soldiers. Senator Obama’s positions present a radical departure from the longstanding bipartisan consensus for isolating rogue regimes like Iran and North Korea.

“It is not only responsible to raise these critical issues in this election, but it would be the height of irresponsibility not to have this discussion with the American people.”

DRK in the HOT SOUTH, you can't believe this man is running for president of the USA. Look what country the USA voted into the White House for the past 8 years, an idiot for president.
To Dingodude

The President can't FIX the economy, Stupid.

Read the constitution, and you'll find the President is quite powerless.

Sign or Veto. That's all. The ENTIRE PROCESS is up to CONGRESS. And what has your democrat congress given us since 2006 except higher oil prices, a lower dollar, and Iraq still going strong?

Power to the INFORMED, and have a nice day. ;)
So what that Hama prefer's Obama for president? Any sane person anywhere in the world who bothers to follow American politics would prefer Obama to the other candidates... he offers honesty, integrity, peace, and cooperation among all nations, compared to lies, cheats, and steals on one hand, and a scorched Earth policy on the other.

Only someone who is getting paid under the table by one of the corporations which is supporting one of the other candidates would prefer one of them. We Americans are voting to take the money away from them.

Power to the people! Go Obama!!!
McWar apparently believes we should factor in what terrorists say when making our decision on who to vote for.  Maybe he should also pay attention to the apparent fact that the people in our allied countries are routing for Obama as well.
Oh yeah,

More war will certainly lower the cost of gas, and milk, and health care...

This one's just as dangerous as Hillary...And neither one of them "Get It"!!
Everyday I see more evidence that we will see McCain/Clinton stickers this fall. They seem to like each other enough to run together on a Republican Party/Clinton Party ticket and both seem like they can not wait to pick the Oval Office phone up, after their naps, and order a nuke job against some country, any country.
McCain continues to push the envelope as his immunity from media criticism goes on. Right now all the hard reporting is driven by the Obama and Clinton battle. That will change as soon as the real campaign commences in August.

He would be well advised not to go too far because his feet of clay will be fair game for a $350M attack ad led by labor begin their cycle.
This is made for TV. Are these grownups? Are these the people young adults have to look up to? Name calling, slandering, lying, "I know you are but what am I" crap? Please grow up people!!!!
More fearmongering from a man itching for more wars. And I'm afraid there are many voters who will buy into these lies, which will be fanned by Limbaugh, Hannity, and eventually I'm sure, Hillary.
one word...

WARMONGER!!!!
I think someone (McCain) might be a litttle scared of Barak Obama, he sure is hitting him hard.  He wants HRÇ so bad to run against, there he knows he has a chance to WIN...  Ain't going to happen, people in America are SMART!!!!!  When he says he wants a fair race, he has FLIP-FLOP again.  He can't get his facts straight on who we are even fighting in Iraq and I for ONE Am NOT worried about McCain, Obama has him Hand Down on all Domestic and Foreign Issues, what the RACE for President is suppose to be about!!!!!  It is the ECONOMY!!!!  Try talking about that McCain???
Be kind to the old man.  I think he has early-stage Altzheimers.  He needs someone to feed him his lines so he can keep the players straight.  He was pitiful on "This Week".
Sure give Obama the nomination. IF he losese in November, I sure hope people don't blame Hilary.

There is no way Obama will win the crucial state. Not Florida, not Ohio, not PA, not Michigan.

With all these surfacing, silly or not it has successfully cast doubt about his judgement and affiliations. Plus his really poor experience record.

McCain is very dangerous.

People better think long and hard before they support McCain. He has a temper to match his threathening rheteroic.

This is one guy (McCain) that the power of becoming President would go to his head and at some point all hell would break loose. It would be "my way or the highway", not unlike the GWB Presdiency and not unlike a Hillary Clinton Presidency.

Both McCain and Hillary Clinton ignore the advice once given by a previous well liked President "walk softly and carry a big stick". Neither walk softly and both open their flaps too often to threaten other people, other countries and world peace.

No comments about the Obama/Hammas comments made by McCain. They are just too ridiculous and out of touch with reality.

Think of this, I think it is very clear who VP Cheney and who GWB want to become the next President of the United States. Enough said.
McCain's not tooo bright, this guilty by association could be REAL FUN with McCain ROTFLMAO. Hope he's ready to have something finished that he started LOL
Geez.  Just when I've been bragging on how McCain had showed admirable restraint on staying off the Rev. Wright stuff & denouncing this ridiculous commercial they're trying to run here.  He even ducked a question about Obama's "typical white person" description of his grandma on Hardball.  I guess he's going to go there to energize the pitiable base.  Still, he's got twice as much character as Hill.  But we'll see how close he comes to her tactics to get elected.  He should apologize for this comment.  I feel as secure in Obama taking a hard line on Hamas as McCain.  No American president will condone the attitude towards Isreal that Hamas holds.  Pull up McCain while you still can and keep your appeal to independents.
Isolating them has worked so well.

Let's just nuke them, right McWarmonger?
McCaint is desparate.  Thought he was going to have an easy go of it with Clinton--sorry old guy!  Strap yourself into that wheelchair--it's going to be a bumpy ride!  We're loving it!
