Obama to pick up KY superdelegate

Posted: Tuesday, April 29, 2008 10:51 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro
NBC News has confirmed an AP report that Kentucky congressman Ben Chandler, a superdelegate, is endorsing Obama today in Louisville.

With Chandler's endorsement, that brings the superdelegate count to Clinton 265, Obama 243. Overall (including pledged and superdelegates), it's Obama 1,733, Clinton 1,599.

Chandler's endorsement also adds to Obama's lead over Clinton among elected superdelegates (congressman, governors, senators). Clinton leads Obama 3-2 in Kentucky superdelegates. Obama has both congressmen from the state -- Rep. John Yarmuth is the other.

AP: LOUISVILLE -- Democrat Barack Obama's campaign director in Kentucky says Congressman Ben Chandler will endorse Obama for their party's presidential nomination.

Carolyn Tandy told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Chandler will announce his support for Obama at a midday news conference in downtown Louisville. Chandler represents a central Kentucky district and carries one of the most famous names in Kentucky politics.

[EDITOR'S NOTE: Our pledged delegate count inadvertently had 1,491 for Obama; it should be 1,490. We've adjusted the above count.]

Great!

Now wait because there will be another one for Hillary soon...
And despite his campaign being in the hardest of times, the supers continue to drip.
These people who are endorsing Obama, know a good thing. They are not playing Hillary's lying games.Maybe you should print more of the positives than all the negativity. we're sick of it.The endoresement of the Gov. of North Carolina is no effect per the people of Nc, because they have no respect for the out going govenor..Obama will still win by a large margin.
FAR TOO LITTLE - FAR TOO LATE!!!!
We will not be fooled by Obama - he can never be elected President of the USA!
**********

What about Sen. Clinton Picking up the endourcement of the North Carolina Govenor???

Hummm....  No mention of that ay?  We up north are simply amazed at how much the Media appears to be so evidently bias against Sen. Clinton...

Is it because she is a woman?
What an amazing year...its wonderful to have such support in KY!

Thank you Rep. Chandler.

Obama for our best future 08
Rep. Chandler just shot himself in the foot....

The NRCC will destroy him in his re-election bid this year by airing attack ads connecting him to Sen. Obama similar to the ads they're running in NC, MS, and LA
Go Obama-the next president of the US.  If anyone wants to know who Obama is they should first read his books.  Also, to start out life as a social worker speaks volumes about someones integrity.  It is a job you take because you really want to help people but the pay is bad-I know.  I hope more of the supers move so we can start the race that matters!
Obama 08
Guys did I miss this one or did you...

Thanks

On Monday, former West Virginia Secretary of State and United States Congressman Ken Hechler endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president, citing Obama's ability to bring the country together and change Washington
Kentucky is going to Hillary no matter what. She leads and has lead with only 4 percent undecided 68 to 26 percent.  This guy is dead meat after today because my family is from Louisville and has said this is polical suicide for Chandler.  The town is heavy for Hillary.  what a dope!!!!!
Interesting watching the democrats marching into oblivion---one by one.Obama has done a good job in destroying this inept party. Thanks Obama
Thank You Congressman! Hope others will follow your lead and not wait until June to endorse. YES WE CAN!
Drip Drip Drip........

Hmmmmm.......

Looks like the supers are still coming out for Obama.

HRC needs to get THREE for ever ONE that Obama gets to even TIE the delegates.

Thank You Congressman Chandler!!!

Break out the white lightning, there's going to be ho down!
The Great American Media are at it again! After bringing us that greatest of all hits "100 Years in Iraq" they are working on the new chart buster, "Time to Screw U.S., Again!" Yes, the media are in a frenzy of Obama bashing! Obama is doomed! He can never win, now! That is what MSNBC wants voters to believe. He's a weak candidate. Who cares if MSNBC is complicit in destroying this man. Their ratings couldn't possibly get any higher. The 24/7 repetition of Rev. Wright's outlandish comments is raking in millions for the corporations. Americans can count on at least 6 more months of continuous brainwashing. By November you will all be comatose and vote just as the media command. Who cares who wins, as long as he (or she) has been chosen by the corporate media. And believe me, Chuck Todd, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert and Joe Scarborough will tell us just who to vote for. Voters are just a mere formality and make us look like a real democracy. But, c'mon, we all know this is just a big fat lie. Thank you, corporate media! We don't want news reports, just your same old wonderful spin! Who cares if McCain and Hillary have equally dangerous supporters and past associates? Obama is fresh meat! Black sheep to the slaughter! Yum! Yum! Yum!
With the way the Obama campaign roles out a new SD every single time Clinton does, you have to wonder just how many he has in his pocket.

I think their tactic of ushering them out daily is brilliant. Dulling the spotlight for the opponent and proving they have a stable of endorsements.

From one Chandler to another--Good Job!
drip...drip...drip
Obama is winning the super delegate primary and once he wins North Carolina there will be a stampede of super delegates.  We're winding down to the finish now.

GO OBAMA!
since pennsylvania, the superdelegate race has been 6-2 Obama; even in the face of all of the distractions.  I have faith in this country's ability to look past manufactured outrage and to concentrate on the true challenges that we face.
In basketball you trade bakets, but if you are behind that doesn't help you much.  Hillary needs 70% of the Supers and Barack needs 30% so lets keep trading super's.
FACT: If the supers were going to support Hillary, they would have already.  They are waiting for the North Carolina victory.  Why will the supers vote for Barack?  1) Hillary is polarizing and supers do not want to run their own campaigns with Hillary leading the ticket. 2) To take the nomination away from the youth and black community would spell devastation to the Democratic Party.

I wonder when the media will get it...It's not about Rev. Wright.  It's about the strengths/weaknesses of Obama and the weaknesses/strength of Hill.
Thank you congressman Ben Chandler and congratulations Sen. Obama.
Keep em' coming ... DRIP DRIP
GOBAMA!  Come on supers - let's put an end to this and focus on beating McCain!
Congrats BO!

For those who are offended by his staying in the church for 20 yrs...I was not alive at the time, but I remember there being a problem with JFK being a Catholic, because people thought the Pope would control him like a puppet from Rome.  He had to come out and denounce that idea, much like what Obama did.  As I recall, JFK still became president and most people revere him now.  Do we not learn anything from history?
